Sienna Mercer grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was an only child, and always wanted a brother or sister – especially a twin. A twin would have been awesome! Sadly, she never got that sister so, when she was grown up, she did the next best thing - she wrote books about a girl who reminded her of herself, and gave her the most fun, fabulous twin she could think of!

Sienna began writing stories when she was a teenager, on a very wet day in Toronto when her cheerleading practice was cancelled - and she has not stopped writing since. She used to write in red leather notebooks while sat on her bed, but now does most of her writing in her attic, which is quite dark, and has some spooky cobwebs in the corners - the perfect location for thinking about vampires. She doesn't use red notebooks anymore, either, although she keeps them in a chest by her desk in the attic.

Sienna got the idea for My Sister the Vampire from a daydream she had - what if she had a super-cool twin sister... who was a vampire? She loved the characters - and their kooky friends and family - so much that she just had to keep writing about them.

When she's not daydreaming about vampires and cheerleading, Sienna enjoys travelling and exploring new cities, and keeps a detailed scrapbook of everywhere she’s visited. She lives in Toronto, kept company by Calypso and Angel – her two gorgeous cats. She is happily writing away and we wait for her upcoming books!

I didn’t really remember this one at all but the setting was so cool and the story was fun, if a little bit slow at times but it was still good

15/12/2017 re-read: So. Freaking. Cute. Still.

26/10/2015 re-read: This is literally the best book in the entire world.

Original review (25/07/2014): Words cannot describe how unbelievably awesome this book is. Sixth in the super cool My Sister the Vampire series, Love Bites has always been one of my favourites, if not the favourite. It's certainly the one I've re-read most (although Star Style and Date with Destiny come close), which is saying something, I'm telling you. It seems so amazing that even on the millionth time reading the book, I'm still gasping at the revelations, laughing at the jokes and grinning at the end.

This book is the first proper change of scenery in the series so far, as Ivy and Olivia head off to the majestic Transylvania to meet their long-lost grandparents, who are, by the way, Count and Countess! The twins are even lucky enough to spend time with the Transylvanian royal family, but Valentine's Day approaches, there are family feuds to fix and love lives to unmuddle. There's only one pair of twins for the job, but will everything come together on time?

The exotic new locations and interesting new characters in this story are just done so well. There are such beautiful descriptions tied into the book to set the scene yet it's in no way overly done and is still very readable for kids. I really don't know how Sienna Mercer does it.

This is a wickedly feel-good story which I have derived so much joy out of again and again for years. You've probably gathered this by now but, I loved it.

This book was so cute! I loved seeing more of the Vega side of the family. I think the main message of this book was about how important communication is in all relationships. There's miscommunication in so many relationships throughout this book and the main thing is being able to talk through it, which I think is such a great message to incorporate into a book for young readers.

The scenery of Transylvania was breath taking and so were the dresses the girls got to wear in this book! I so called so Ivy's investigation of the prince was quite funny to watch. Overall, I think the girls and their dad really needed this trip to really cement their familial ties.

I read this book to do a comparative analysis to Dracula for my future blog, but I will write my key points here. This book definitely didn’t follow the same horror storyline as Dracula, but it still maintained a lot of the creepy elements of vampires that Bram Stoker wrote about which is more than can be said for Twilight. This was actually the perfect book in the series to read because this is the one when they visit Transylvania! I loved all the drama with the sisters’ boyfriends, and I really loved the message about their dad. However, I would’ve liked more information about the Count, because I didn’t feel like I ever knew or connected with him. For some reason it only really mentioned the Countess. I also felt it was weirdly cringy when the sisters randomly did a photo shoot, and when Ivy’s boyfriend made her that video, but maybe I’m being harsh since this book is at a 4th grade reading level. Overall it was very enjoyable, I just would’ve preferred if there were more details I could use to compare to Dracula. I would definitely recommend this series to kids because it’s better than most children’s books in that it had a fun and interesting storyline with the sweetest messages without being overly preachy. I honestly really want to read the rest of this series now it’s actually really good! Stay tuned to my goodreads for further updates on my essay comparing and contrasting this novel to Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Okay I have re-read this book a million times, so much in fact that it's all worn out. I haven't read this book since 5th maybe 6th grade and I still remember pretty much everything that happened in this book. Okay so I was cleaning out my bookshelf, and I found this book beside all my middle-grade books and I just opened it and started flipping though it to take a look at the pictures inside and I was so confused when I couldn't find any. This book was so memorable and descriptive that I actually convinced myself that it had illustrations inside. I sat there for 10 minutes looking at every single page trying to find the pictures I remember seeing the first time I read it and there weren't any and I was kind of disappointed but then I thought to myself how great this book must have been for me to have no problem seeing everything that happened and for me to still remember the plot of it even though I haven't read it in forever and I just think this was a great book that I look forward to reading again.

Let’s take a break from small town life and go hang with vampire aristocracy! Luckily vampire dad is secretly the son of a countess who happens to be BFFs with the vampire queen in Romania! The vampire family is trying to reconcile after that ugly business with the twins’ human mom, but more importantly Olivia’s movie star boy friend is sending mixed messages. And so is the vampire prince, who seems to be trying to romance Olivia. Ivy wants to shield her sister from any horrors like disappointment or embarrassment, and Olivia is so busy fitting in with her natural charm that she doesn’t notice when Ivy’s insecurities are for *her*. Luckily everyone is super nice, except maybe that mean cheerleader back home, and even when they aren’t they repent and change their ways as soon as the error is pointed out.

These are super relaxing and I’m very sad they as I read this one the other ones disappeared from my libraries’ catalogs.

I've read this too many times to truly be surprised or enjoy this as much as I have in the past, but this series was a staple of my childhood. Absolutely iconic

I read this book because it was chosen by the winner of one of my school's "teacher raffle". The prize that my library assistant and I offered was for the winning student to select a book from the book fair to create a book club. Interestingly enough, her name is Olivia, too. Olivia and three friends will have lunch with my assistant and me while we discuss the book. From what I now gather, these books are popular with the tween crowd; I had no idea it was a series. (and it has its own wikipedia page)

I do have a few questions: how old are the girls? What happened to their mother? I guess I may have to read more of them-- or ask Olivia after she does.

I didn't realize at first that this was not the first in the series. I'm sure that would answer some of my questions. Other than that, it almost stands alone.

My Sister the Vampire Love Bites by Sienna Mercer is a book about twin girls that are different. One girl is a vampire (Ivy) and the other is a human (Olivia). This setting take place in a town called Transylvania. The reason they're both going to Transylvania is because Olivia, the human sister is going to meet her dad's side of the family (the vampire side). So Olivia has to be really good to impress the vampires or they won' accept her.
My favorite part of this book was really nothing because it wasn't that entertaining to me. The story seemed boring. My least favorite part was when the Prince of Transylvania was doing crazy stuff that would annoy Ivy. That part was really weird to me. I would not recommend this to a classmate unless they like books like this one. This book is part of a series and the next book is called Lucy Break.

Am I making this review two years later ? Yes. Is it because I want all my books to have reviews ? Also yes. Am I going through an organizational stint ? Absolutely.

Anyways, I only read this because I felt bad for having it for literally about 10 years and never finishing reading it before I gave it away cause I didn't want it in my collection anymore (naturally). I will say, 10 year old me would've eaten this series up. I will say I remember this one being my fav of the ones I read because it was all cutesy and valentine's day and I'm a sucker (haha) for a cute little love story.

In this vampire adventure Ivy and Olivia are finally going to see their dads side of the family in Transilvania. Their dads side of the family is vampire royalty! The crown prince seems kind of interested in Olivia... a little too much. Is he just wanting to be friendly or is he up to no good?

I have to give this only one star because of how boring it was. I don’t mind reading a children’s book, but this was one of the most boring books I’ve ever read!

Let me explain why.

Throughout the time I was reading, I kept asking myself “where is the plot?” or “when is the plot going to happen?” I noticed I was already in the middle of the book and didn’t felt like there was much to the plot.

The synopsis stated the girls were visiting Transylvania to learn about their bio dad’s vampire roots. Great. It also mentioned Prince Alex taking interest in Olivia, one of the twins, and the question raised if he was into her or is he up to no good at all? Great.

However, when it boiled down to that point of the Alex/Olivia drama, it happened so little and so fast. It didn’t feel like there was anything big. The author just wrote the synopsis to make it more interesting than it appears.

The interesting parts didn’t happen until right after closer to the ending which is basically the second half of the book. That’s where the “juicy” parts happen but even though the main focus wasn’t too focused on the Alex/Olivia part.

The first part of the book was BORING! It mostly is about the girls spending their days in Transylvania with one of them worrying about fitting in and worrying about other people’s affairs. There are included snippets of the Alex/Olivia scenes but not enough buildup to make it anything more exciting. It felt like a small scene coupled with other snippets of little drama.

The book feels like it’s lacking a lot of elements. The focused isn’t too much on the plot; the first half of the book is boring; the interesting parts don’t happen until after making it halfway. Where was the climax? Or rather, which ONE was it? Climaxes are supposed to be the most exciting part, but there was nothing that drew much of my attention other than little twists of drama Sienna Mercer incorporated.

The book is targeted for younger audience but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I lost focus throughout reading and had to reread. That was how boring it was.

Some of the character’s appearances in the book seem irrelevant me and doesn’t contribute much to the plot. Although I see now that Sienna Mercer has written multiple books about these twins, perhaps the irrelevant characters were introduced in the earlier series? I haven’t read any of this author’s works other than this one. It so happened to be one of my little sister’s book that I decided to read it.

For example, Ivy’s (one of the twin’s) boyfriend. I find his appearance is irrelevant and doesn’t contribute to the plot. Maybe the author was trying to add humor? Can someone enlighten me here?

The ending was good, but this book didn’t blow me away and or left me satisfied. Other elementary books I grew up to love reading are GOOSEBUMPS or those A TO Z MYSTERIES series. I recommend it for adults as well as kids, but not this book.

This was disappointing. I may as well donate this since I will not be rereading it. Anyone who loves this book, please enlighten me on how it was enjoyable.

This book was very exciting and happy. I think this is the best book of the series. Ivy and Olivia are going back I Transylvania to meet her biological father's parents. Olivia meets prince Alex and Ivy and Olivia think that Alex has a crush on Olivia. Alex actually has a crush on someone else. Soon Olivia gets a gift from her boyfriend Jackson and he has news that he was moving to Franklin Grove so he could be closer to Olivia. Later on, they go to a ball and then they go home.

Wasnt a huge fan of this one. I found it boring honestly. it was quite obvious who Alex really liked and I felt like for someone as snobby as the queen, she shouldn't have accepted it and been so okay with everything after the way she previously acted. Might just be because I'm a bit older than the target audience but that's just my opinion.

This was a cute little story. I remember loving these as a child. I finished it in two days since of course it's a children's book. I have "Lucky Break" next. It was definitely a cute story and kept me entertained while it lasted. It has a very sweet ending.

This was very cute! The first half I was pretty lukewarm on, but after that things picked up. The ending was very sweet, and it was a fun change of setting to be in Transylvania. 4 stars! I wish I had pictures of all of the dresses in this book.

My daughter picked this up at a library sale. I didn't realize this was a series so we read it out of order. I did feel like we were missing some back story but could still follow along. My almost nine year old enjoyed the boyfriend drama.
