A master of family therapy, Salvador Minuchin, traces for the first time the minute operations of day-to-day practice. Dr. Minuchin has achieved renown for his theoretical breakthroughs and his success at treatment. Now he explains in close detail those precise and difficult maneuvers that constitute his art. The book thus codifies the method of one of the country’s most successful practitioners.
It is a very important piece in understanding structural family therapy. It lacks inclusivity (is sexist) and is intense. I would have loved reading about potential dangers or hold-ups.
Kindlasti on oluline joiningu saavutamine muude tehnikate rakendamiseks.
I suspect there are few others in this life who could do as a clinician what Minuchin could do. Was he subject to some sexism? Undoubtedly. Nonetheless, everything you could want in family therapy--including subsequent advancements by social constructionism, and even hints of interpersonal neurobiology--are in this book, and I love it.
This book is written for someone in the counceling field or training to enter the field. In that sense, this book has examples to illustrate the techniques. On the other hand, the terms are not well defined and of the terms that are defined, the definitions come much later in the book. If you are not familiar with the terms, this book will be confusing.
