🌟🌟🌟🌟STARS Lincoln Hospital (Trauma, #1) by Cassia Brightmore what did I think, well I loved this, of Course. I've always been a sucker for a tormented A-hole of a hero and Dr Cian O’Reilly has the dick factor in spades, so this book had me by the short and curlies from the get-go. So the premise of this book is that that Dr Cian has taken upon himself the task of bringing to justice those deserving of his less tender care. So By day, he saves lives as a top surgeon and by night, with his carefully selected team he delivers his own brand of sweet justice, ridding the streets of scum. So yeh in some ways, Cian did remind me a bit of Dexter, they have the same goals just differing reasons for what they do.but Cian has defiantly got the shittier attitude of the two. So Dr Athena Payne joins the hospital as a new intern and from day one spark fly between these two. But Cian is struggling with what he wants, (Athena) and he tries really hard to push her away behaving like a real SOB to her Can't believe how hot and cold he was blowing with her, shame on you Cian, not nice. Now I don't want to really give too much away, so I'm just gonna list what I thought Lincoln Hospital's weak points were, and bare in mind this is just my own personal observation's.
I would have liked to see more of a development in the romance department, Cian and Athena went from Zero to I Love you in ten seconds flat, as much as I love these two instalove just isn't my thing. I thought the kidnapping serial killers was a bit out of place, It felt clunky like it was thrown into the mix just for drama. didn't quite get this addition at all. Also when Cian comes clean to Athena, it was so anticlimactic, I really expected much more from this.
despite the above points, this was a good engaging read that I raced through. It had well-developed characters and an easy reading style that flows. It also had another major plus factor in its favour, A big fat twist at the end that I so didn't see coming, now that was a shocker, well done Cassia, I am so ready now to read Flatline (Trauma, #2). There's No way I can't not read it now after that big ruddy expose, I'm still somewhat in shock.
So I went into this book totally blind. I didn't read any reviews before hand and really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.
This very much had a DEXTER (TV SHOW) feel to it. Vigilante DR. killing the degenerates of society that have somehow gotten away or gotten off with their crimes.
My feeling on this one were a little up and down. I LOVED the whole "Dexter" angle. Cian was a huge asshole, but I loved his little murdering ass. Athena was an interesting heroine, as were a lot of the side characters. The plot concerning Cian and his murders was interesting.
My problem comes with the other side story and the romance itself. First the other side story with the serial killers and the kidnapped girls just didn't meld well into the "Cian and Athena" part of the story. They felt like two different stories taking place in the same book.
Also, there wasn't a great deal of romance build up. 95% of the book is Cian going hot and cold for Athea. In fact, at 90% I thought for sure this was going to end on a cliffy, but the Cian and Athena part wrapped up like a bullet train and the Never mind the fact he Say what now?? That seemed WAY out of character for her.
In any case, that was the down part, then that epilogue shot it right back up to the OMG WTF??!! There's obviously going to be a book two, and enjoyed this one enough that I will be picking it up.
"Live. Die. It didn't matter - the end result would always be the same. You will suffer."
Cian O'Reilly is a top heart surgeon, sexy, wealthy, playboy with everything to live for except deep down he is broken. So badly broken after the murder of his wife 2 years prior. After the murderers got away, Cian devised a small group of nurses and another doctor to take matters into their own hands and make the evil and cruel of their city ultimately pay for their actions.
All is smooth sailing in his world of medical justice until Athena Payne steps foot into his hospital as an intern.
Athena is ready to make her dreams of being a doctor come true. As an intern in the best hospital under the best doctors, she ready to take the world by storm and learn all she can. She stands out as a top intern and the other doctors know she will be amazing.
Athena is smart and she knows besides being sexy as hell, Cian is dark. He is hiding something but she can't figure out what it is. She knows she needs to stay away from him but her attraction to him leads her right into his mysterious but sexy arms.
Cian has no problem engulfing Athena into his web. He will have her and no one else.
"The monster living in his veins screamed to devour her. The man he wanted to be fought to protect her."
Cian knows he must tell Athena his secret if has any hopes of a future with her. Just when he thought there relationship couldn't be tougher, she is abducted along with another intern. Cian will stop at nothing and fight anyone to get Athena back, even he has to fight an evil he was never aware of.
If you love Dexter.....you will love this series!! This is book 1 in the Trauma Series and needs to be read first before you move on to book 2.
I always look forward to reading some good ol' dark medical mind fuckery, and going into this one, after reading that blurb, I had some seriously high expectations. Turned out, this wasn't going to be a book that was going to freak the fuck out of me . I had some seriously high expectations going into Lincoln hospital and truth be told the premise of the story did seem like something that could've been easily twisted into some delicious twisted twists . Alas , that did not happen .
Lincoln hospital is the story of a certain Cain O Riley who is all about vigilante justice . Bad guys who should've been punished by the law but have escaped it's clutches find themselves paying for their sins by the hands of a man who considers himself their judge, their executioner. Then he meets Athena Payne, an intern who suddenly makes him question his life choices. This was the oh-my-god-so-good part. Then came the oh-my-god-why?!?!?!? part.
- Ummmmmmm for someone to do something illegal, like say killing someone, in an active , constantly buzzing hospital amidst people who for sure aren't blind or absolutely clueless is out of the question. Yet, Cain and his crew has been getting away with their activities without anyone batting and eyelash or raising eyebrows .
- Sabine, Athena's sister from another mister is a best friend everybody wishes for . All she wants for Athena is to have a good time and is ready to kick ass if anyone messes with her bestie. But all of a sudden , she does this complete turn about and talks crap about Athena to her face . And I'm like , girl you've been asking her to get funky with sexy doctor from the start and now when she is doing it , you there in your high chair all like , 'some of us actually work hard to make something of our life , unlike you who just has to spread your legs ' .. shit girl , the fuck you saying !!! Unnecessary drama ...
- The chapter before the epilogue ... really ! Soooo freaking easy .. Just like that everything is okay .. Really Athena ! The fuck !
The only thing that really made me decide that I should probably read book 2 was the twist disclosed in the epilogue ..
I love Cassia, and I loved her last series, but somehow I ended up not loving this one. I fell in love with Cian's character, the first 40% of this book pulled me in and I didn't want to put it down for nothing in this world- but somehow as the story progressed there were too many things that I didn't like.
First, there were tons of grammar issues and god knows those drive me insane.
Second, the beginning of the story has some amazing details but as it progresses it feels like chapters are skipped, somewhere along the line we lose details (IMPORTANT DETAILS) and things are happening too fast. This just left way too much to the imagination...
Third, it's hard for me to accept that a doctor can get away with the things Cian did, people die in hospitals but they also get autopsies and the way he was torturing people- someone was bound to figure out what he did. These criminals have families, why isn't anyone asking questions? I honestly expected a lot more here. This was probably the biggest problem I had with the story.
Fourth- I thought this was going to be a different series, but somehow we end up with the same bad guys from the last series and that drove me up a wall. Why do they keep getting away with stuff? Why can't we get closure for that series and have a whole different one? Seriously. Please. Just let me have a happy ending for once, I'm going to cry over this one.
Fifth- Sabine is my favorite character and we end up with a big gap as to what happened with her... I needed more there, this ties back to the missing details point I made earlier.
And last but not least, the ending and Athena's choice. No effing way. I can't. I really can't. I'm going to kill her myself.
I'm sorry Cassia, you know I absolutely love your work but this particular series started out strong and didn't end that way for me.
"There was a darkness simmering in him, something beneath the surface that he fought hard to conceal. As terrifying as it was, it was also alluring in a way. Seductive even. Something about his savage skills was damn sexy." -Athena Payne
Dark erotica romance with serial killers are my absolute favorite to read. And this book had everything I loved... Oh my goodness, You don't understand how frickin "AMAZING" this book is.... The moment I started reading, I couldn't put down...
Just picture the show, "Grey's Anatomy" meets "Dexter" This book was frickin awesome... I loved it... I want to be part of Dr. Cian O’Reilly's team! Where do I sign up at?? I loved his character. And let's not forget Athena Payne, she was one kick ass strong character.
Cassia Brightmore, omg woman, you can write one dark erotica!! I have fallen in LOVE with another bad ass, author!!
But omg I need book #2 (Like Now, Please!) Because that ending (Was Frickin Wicked!!) Holy crap! I swear, I didn't see that twist!
Why, you gotta be so mean, Mrs. Brightmore? Why? Lol.
Deals with: Horror, Knife Play, Naughty Hot Sex Scenes, Suspense, Torture. And a Shocking/Wicked Cliffhanger! ;)
This was a dark twisted read that reminded me of the TV show Dexter. Dr. Cian O’Reilly is an amazing and well respected surgeon who is cocky and arrogant. He also has a dark and vengeful side, one that only a handful of people know about. He's become a vigilante, serving up cruel and unusual punishment to those that have gotten away with their terrible crimes. Athena is starting her internship at Lincoln Hospital. She wants to be a cardiovascular surgeon. Unfortunately, the head best cardiovascular surgeon is Dr. Cain O'Reilly. Athena doesn't know what to think of him. He can be a huge jerk one minute. Then the next he's not. This was good read I liked both of these character's a lot Cian was my kind of guy. Their was a lot of heat between Cian and Athena the sex scenes were hot and graphic. This book had a few errors in editing. This was my first time reading this author. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This was a great mystery thriller that will keep you intrigued throughout the story with a slight cliffhanger at the end. Lincoln Hospital is one of the best as well as one of the worst places to be depending on who you are. I felt that we were given enough background on the characters while continuing to move forward in the story at the same time. Towards the end we take a turn that threw me for a loop and I honestly don't know where things will go from there but I'm curious to find out in book two.
Cassia is freaking brilliant when it comes to a creepy suspenseful fun ride! Cian has a horrible past and this turns him into a sexy monster. Come find out why and what happens. Everyone needs to read this beautiful lady's books
What do you get if you were to set the series of Dexter in a hospital? You would get Lincoln Hospital featuring Dr. Cian O'Reilly. After reading romance, you get bored with it if you are like me and for me, my go-to books are Mysteries and Dark Fiction. This series I have had sitting on my kindle for about a year now. On May 23rd Dr. O'Reilly suffered a horrible tragedy which led to death, and for Dr. O'Reilly it opened something in him. The need for justice. On the 23rd of every month with a select team of fellow vigilantes - doing this for their reasons, they do a Dexter and kill the ones that get off but are guilty AF. What better way to do this than in a hospital where the murders can look like medical accidents? Three stories are paralleling in Lincoln Hospital. You have the introductions to the new round of interns including one Athena Payne who will also become a possible love interest for Cian O'Reilly. You have Cian and his 23rd of the month murders, and then you also have a duo which later looks like a third person involvement Serial Killer team who are abducting and sexually abusing/torturing females in their late teens the to mid-twenties. I have to admit the ending which was a major cliffhanger left me going OMFG with that last page, so much that the last line I had to re-read a few times to wrap my head around it. It took me by surprise. So much that I now can't wait to read Book #2 Flatline. If you loved Serial Killers, Medical Books, Mystery and Dark Fiction and was a fan of Jeff Lindsay's character Dexter, then you will feel right at home with Cassia Brightmore's Trauma series.
This book really surprised me. When I started reading it started out cheesy but oh Boy! I was so wrong! As I read more and more, I was so much engrossed and the concept the author has come up with! Scary and I'm intrigued. What was the right and wrong path. I felt that the book no matter how dark, it was deep and I can't wait to read the next book. !!
I have not read anything from this author before but I liked this book more I thought I would. This book is definitely for adults readers due to language and sexual situations. I was a bit surprised by this but overall I liked the characters a lot more than I thought I would. Dr. Cian O’Reilly I have a love hate relationship with him because there is a few thing I love about him but more things right now I hate about him. But since this is a series, opinions for characters can change I have had it happen to me before. Dr. Athena Payne, I like her and her friend Sabine very much. I hope we have much more of them and learn more about these characters in the books to come. I may read the next book to see what happens next. I like to give new authors and new series 2-3 books before I decide if this is a series or author I will keep reading if I am on the fence about it. This one I am still on the fence about but the book and the story does have a little something in it for many readers.
From the first page, you know that Cian is not a nice guy. He’s an amazing and well respected surgeon, but he’s also well known for being an asshole and it’s a title he wears with pride. He also has a dark and vengeful side, one that only a handful of people know about. He’s become a vigilante, serving up cruel and unusual punishment to those that have gotten away with their terrible crimes. What can I say about Athena? Not much because to be honest, I don’t really remember her, other than she forgave Cian every time he treated her badly. Cian’s personality and actions overshadow almost everyone and everything else in this story.
Sometimes I’m in the mood for a dark book and when I saw this one pop up, it sounded too interesting to dismiss. I did enjoy LINCOLN HOSPITAL, but I didn’t love it. My main issue was in relation to the POVs. While this story is mainly told in Cian and Athena’s POV, it also includes the POV of several other characters. That would be fine, except that the POV changes without any notice at all, which often left me confused. At one point the POV switched between three characters in as many paragraphs. I also noticed incomplete, extra and wrong words used here and there, so it could use an editor. LINCOLN HOSPITAL is the start of a new series and I believe it is the spin-off of her Darkness series. I don’t think you need to read the other books first, but there was one chapter where the villains are talking about people and events that seemed unrelated to this story, and trying to figure out who and what they were talking about was useless. The story ends in a cliffhanger of sorts, in that while the story about the missing girls will continue, I don’t think the next story will be about Cian and Athena. It feels like they got their HEA, as happy as they can be in a story such as this.
4.5 dark and exciting stars!! I really didn't know about this book going in but just a few pages in I was glued!! Cian is the chief of cardio thoracic surgery at Lincoln Hospital and well he is super hot! But Cian has a dark side. Something horrible happened to Cian and since then he has been out for blood. He seeks justice and monthly kills a criminal in his OR. He is a dark avenging angel... Athena is a fresh intern at Lincoln hospital and first day she encounters this rude and too large of an ego man, but well he was hot. Little does she know the man she despises yet got hot over was the man she aspires to one day be. And her boss's boss. A series of shitty things keep happening to Athena and thank goodness she has a dark avenging angel is all I am going to say. This book is a very good page turner. And I know you are suppose to not like a man like Cian but everything about him is a plus in my book. Athena well I think she is an ok girl. I just wish she would so quickly fall back for Cian but with that said I am pretty sure in reality I would to. And he is a total stalker I just want to point out. How is he everywhere she goes?!?! I mean in the bathroom?!?! My other question is how does this not lead back to him and the hospital. He is damn near at every scene. And he is the dr for each patient?!?! To me that is a good first book. It has me coming back for answers. And the very last freaking page!!!!! OMG!! I had no damn clue. And does anyone know who Dr Daniels was?!?! I am dying here. So glad I have the next book. I watched only a few episodes of Dexter and I think this is like that and well it's def a dark version of Greys Anatomy. Just thought I would address the similarities that everyone is claiming. Great read!!
I bought this book the moment it came out, but literally just got around to reading it. And I read it in one sitting. I couldn't get hottie, murdering Dr. Cian O'Reilly out of my head!!
He's one of the top cardio-thoracic surgeons in the country. He takes saving people very seriously. But after a horrific incident, he let his inner darkness out, and became a vigilante trying to right the wrongs done to innocent people. He's what you'd expect the best surgeon to be: cocky, arrogant and smoldering hot.
Athena is a first year intern. Her passion lies in the same field as Dr. O'Reilly, but she's not sure she'll learn under the scorching tutelage of the sexy surgeon. Luckily she's got her bestie Sabine - who is hysterical - by her side.
This book is dark and twisted and brilliant as far as I'm concerned. There is a secondary plot line that is introduced, and I do believe that it will carry over into the next book. There are a couple of VERY surprising revelations that literally had me "Holy sh*t-ing" at the end.
Now, if you don't like cliffhangers, hold off on reading this book. If you have ANY trigger issues, I would tread carefully. There are some rather graphic scenes in the book. This is the first book from Cassia that I've read and I'm very excited to see where she takes these characters.
I got a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I can't wait to read more.
I am giving this book 5 stars!
The story flows, and its intense and dark. I loved the characters! Each and every one of them pretty much. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept my attention, I hated putting it down but had to as life gets in the way of reading. Then I couldn't find my kindle so I had to dig out another one to finish the book on. This book is gory, and some parts did leave me queasy but I loved it. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a dark, intense story. Its not for the weak.
Dr. Cian O'Reilly he is dark, intense, dangerous, and he is the biggest asshole, but I couldn't help but love him. He is a Surgeon.
Athena is a new Dr. that is interning at Lincoln Hospital. She is sweet, caring, tries to get along with everyone. She is one of 6 interns, hoping to become a surgeon. She catches the eye of Dr. O'Reilly and even though he is a playboy, Athena is attracted to him.
Wow!! Fantastic start to this brand new series Cassia Brightmore. I was hooked from the first page. Loved all the new characters. The suspense and twists in the storyline were off the charts. I really didn't know what was going to happen next...
Dr Cian O Reilly is the leading Surgeon in his profession. Everyone wants to work with him and the ladies fall over themselves to sleep with him. But Cian doesn't want a relationship and isn't interested in anyone who tries to catch his eye. That is until a certain intern arrives at the hospital. Athena Payne is like no other, from day one he wants her. She wants him but he can't give into his feelings, it will only end with heartache ...
On the 23rd day of every month he hunts...To bring justice to all criminals who escape the law. Giving them a taste of what they have put their victims through. This is side of him that people don't see and not many people are trusted with this knowledge. How can he give into his feelings? Who is ever going to understand what he needs do? ...
I loved the concept for this story line!! Lincoln Hospital had great and likeable characters. Cian O'Reilly was an interesting Hero in this story. He was a caring man with a dark side that he was able to feed with his secret life of revenge. He had plenty of moments of being a total jerk but was redeemable in so many ways.
Athena Payne was a relateable heroine. She was sweet, kind and driven. Her dream of being the best surgeon she can be placed her at Lincoln Hosoital to learn everything she can from Dr. O'Reilly. Sparks fly, hearts melt and the suspense builds.
The author did an amazing job of telling this story in the third person so the reader can get so much more out of the story. There are so many characters that this series can build from and I'm excited for more. This was my first Cassia Brightmore book and it has made me a new fan of her work.
Oh, and the epilogue? I can normally figure out all the puzzle pieces early on in a story...I soooo did not see that coming. It's a shocker and will leave you excited for more.
WOW, can't wait for the next book of hers to come out. If you like sexy, hot, angsty, suspenseful, thriller romances, Cassia is your girl! I mean this in a completely good way but Cassia, you are one twisted woman! How the he!! do you freaking sleep at night? If I had all that twisted sh!t running around in my mind, I'd be afraid to freaking close my eyes at night! I read The Darkness Series that you wrote and thank God I waited until they were all released before I started the series because I would have tore my hair out if I would have had to wait for those to come out after reading the first one. I had thoughts of slapping myself once I started Lincoln Hospital but I knew going into it that book 2 will be coming out in a couple weeks. This story line is very well written and flows very nicely. Not once did I feel that the book stalled out of lacked in any way. The characters are very well developed. I really look forward to the release of Flatline!
Holy sh&t! WTF! That ending...I'm completely dumbfounded in a great way. This is this first book I've read from Cassia and man I'm kicking myself for not reading her books before. Cian is a hot but sick and twisted man but I can totally understand why. Athena is intelligent and the light he needs in his life. There are some great secondary characters in this book. Some horrible things happen and some truly sad things as well so be prepared. Cassia has a great writing style and knows how to write a great balance between dark and hot. I can not wait for the next book and yea it does end on a cliffy!!!
This was my first Cassia Brightmore read and it will not be my last I loved Lincoln Hospital and the twist at the end was brilliant, I so did not see it coming and I cannot wait for book 2 Cian is Dr Dexter, and absolutely amazing. He has a heart of gold and I cannot wait to see his character development in book 2 Athena is full of sass and I adore her. I can't wait to see her flourish in book 2 and come into her stride Together, Cian and Athena will be an amazing duo Bring on book 2
I really liked the premise of Lincoln Hospital but unfortunately it just wasn't executed very well. Also a few things weren't believable especially the last page when the heroine finds out the truth and is completely okay with it and asks to join in.... ummm alright.
This book captured my attention from the beginning to the end. It was dark and I loved every minute of it. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I loved all the characters. I loved how they all live their life in how they think was right. We may not all agree with what they do but they have justified it to themselves and that's all that matters.
This book is kinda like Dexter the tv show. Which I have watched and enjoy. Cian is the head cardiologist surgeon. Athena is a new intern and wants to be a cardiologist surgeon. Cian kills all the bad people but he does it in his OR. I can't wait to read more!
This was my very first Cassia Brightmore and will be far from my last! I don't usually read dark novels, novels with angst and trigger warnings but holy moly this book is amazing!
It's dark, sexy, angsty and suspenseful! Cassia keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end! The story takes you on an emotional and dark journey of discovery. I cannot wait to start book 2!
Cheers and FIVE dark and delicious STARS for Cassia and Lincoln Hospital!
