Danny's life started in the system--and that system lost him his sister.
When Danny ages out, he turns to the MC for the family he never had. Earning respect and status as the number two soldier for his new family, he finds himself married to a woman who is mentally ill, a father to unexpected son, and his Brothers running illegal more than not.
Making a tough decision, he leaves his Brothers to raise his son on his own. He spends his life being the guy everyone turns to--a man of honor and integrity.
Finally finding his sister, Jess, he goes above and beyond to make Jess a part of his family and life--with her foster sister and best friend Kate tagging along for moral support. And Kate uses that to fuel the crush she's had on Danny since the day she first met him.
After 16 years, Danny divorces his wife and starts to live for himself. He finds peace in his life as he starts to gain the respect and position he once held.
Problem is, for Kate, he also keeps her at arm's length and chooses the Club whores instead of her. Kate has to decide if it’s him or the idea of him that she really wants.

L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference. The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal. L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers. With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet
Once upon a time there was a fairytale MC. It was the bestest, most wonderful MC out there. The men were all wonderful, idealogical princes of bikers who spent their days rescuing battered women, adopting orphaned or abused children, and shaking down drug dealers before kicking their dealing asses across town. Although they did have some shady dealings every once in a while, the overall sweetness and light that they spread far and wide completely overshadowed any pesky little illegal operations they may occasionally carry out.
To go along with these oh so perfect specimens of biker, one must have perfect little biker princesses to go along with them and so far the h’s of this series have not disappointed on that front. They can do no wrong, in fact they are constantly pulling miracles out of their perfectly formed asses while they sprinkle stardust and glitter over all they come across.
In this installment of the fairytale “MC” series, our prince of a biker, Danny, started out as somewhat of a frog. He was a bad, bad boy and lost the respect of his brothers for the way he treated his princess. Of course as soon as his princess decided she’d had enough of kissing a frog and started looking for a real prince, he saw the error of his debauching ways and became the true prince we knew he could be. No horrible injury could get him down, he could overcome anything.
Our princess started off as somewhat of a doormat, but soon found her biker princess backbone and started throwing a little sass and grit with her stardust and glitter. By the end of the book, she was just as completely roll your eyes perfect as her best friend Jess from Knight’s book.
More perfectly perfect perfectness was found in book 2 of the MC series. An orphan or 5 needs a home, no problem, Princess Kate will take them. Add in special needs and deaf, she’s got that too. The fact that even the toddler boys of the MC can strategize and come up with plans during an attack that even a 4 Star General would be proud of helps.
I’m really not sure how to take this installment. We are so outside the roll your eyes zone with all the sugary sweet shenanigans going on in this book, I don’t even know what to say. I don’t know whether to completely give up on this toothache of a series, or read the next one because I’m kinda sorta getting attached to some of these characters as sugary sweet as they are.
Re-read the entire MC and Protectors series between June and August. I love her storytelling and characters but sometimes the prose (and particularly the conversations) is a little dense and hard to get through. But I'm back again because the guys, the gals, the kids are all SO GREAT! If you bought this a while ago and are just reading it, download a new copy from Amazon because I think a lot of them have been updated on the editing front.
Danny, Danny, Danny - what a mess you are at the beginning of this book, you man whore. But it only takes a good woman to kick the whore out of the man, and that's Kate's challenge throughout this book (along with Danny's sister Jess, his bro-in-law Steve, and MC president Ben).
L. Ann Marie provides an entire world around the MC, a universe that is filled with unique, sweet, stubborn, alpha, and in some ways magical characters. It's pretty hard to describe the complexity of this book and the storyline - it's good, but the author is obviously learning what works in her writing as she is delivering these books. There's growth since the first book about Steve and Jess (not as much confusion, slightly better editing and proofreading, and some more details about the MC and its guys that weren't as prevalent in the first book).
I had to slow down to read this book and to be able to process all the characters and storylines, but L Ann Marie can definitely tell a good, if somewhat overly complex, story. I'm hooked and will continue on in the series to see what happens next.
*Note: the editing does improve down the line in the series (I have read all of them now, and each one has better editing and proofreading), and from notes in the later books, it looks like she has multiple people helping her with beta reads and editing. I'm happy about that because with some finessing, she can reach a much broader and bigger audience.
This one was going much better for me than the first one other than being really disgusted with Danny's behavior and not feeling much better about Kate in the very beginning. But things started to pick up with them and I was truly enjoying their story until all the mess with the women's center took over. I mean so much detail about some of those incidents that truly were not necessary and added nothing to the story caused some skimming. I think what they were doing was great I just didn't need to know so much about it, since it just made for more characters to get lost trying figure out who they were. But when we hit kid overload from hell, yeah I really started loosing interest. I don't like kids in my romance reads in general and this one was the mother load. I understand what the author was going for and that was great but it really went too far to for me. Also sorry Danny but kids don't make everyone happy, that is something that grates on my nerves kids do not equal HEA for everyone and it would be nice if so many books didn't cram them down your throat. They were great for doing what they did but it doesn't interest me to read about it to that extreme, especially newlyweds suddenly with that many kids...um no.
I still had the same issue with this one as the first one when more than one person was in a conversation though, it was impossible to figure out who was saying what...I gave up on trying to figure it out in this one. Also the whole fight with the rival clubs was just all over the place with all the communications, characters popping up out of nowhere, and being everywhere at once, so I skimmed it until it got to the resolution.
There were some really interesting things in this one that were written great, mostly scenes with fewer characters like when Ben and Danny are talking about Tracy's sorry ass. That whole situation was easy to follow and read not to mention something of interest to the over all story line.
But since I was enjoying the first part of this one so much I already purchased the next one about Rich and Patch, since I did I will read it. But I have a feeling that with all the kids and where it appears things will go in Ben's book from what the blurb says that will probably be the last one. I have never cared for that scenario of adding someone once a couple is established and I can't imagine that changing any time soon....
Kate and Danny's backstory is so turbulent and you find yourself pulling for Kate, especially in the beginning. Danny had it rough with his ex and it leads to him being jerk in the beginning of the book. I'm glad he got back to his true self. Their family is idyllic, she's perfect, he's perfect but in this series, a love story always means a war of some kind. This one doesn't disappoint. It's about being AND showing you're strong, taking care of your family, and not allowing yourself to become an option or second for someone you love.
Excellent story! Chock a block full of emotions, laughter, drama and action (even tears)!! This book was written a lot better than the first so it was easier to follow. The main characters - Danny and Kate - Danny came from a bad marriage and was sowing his wild oats but unfortunately wasn't paying attention to what he was doing to Kate - who has loved Danny from word go! They finally get it right and when they do it just skyrockets from there. The kids in this series are front and center and they provide most of the laughter - they are something else. The way that their family grows (Danny & Kate's) really touched my heart and caused me to feel a lot of anger at the same time. Alot of MC action - it gets quite brutal at times but I love it all. Actually, what Tracy did was beyond disappointing and she's lucky she's still breathing for the ultimate betrayal she layed on them. Once again all the other characters in this series were awesome and really pulls it together beautifully. (I'll have to read The Baxter's Series). The men are all very alpha and the women are just as badass - gotta love that! Having characters with disabilities seems to be a popular theme in this series and I think that is great!!!! Looking forward to next in the series about Patches and Rich.
I liked this book and liked characters. The only problem I have with the books so far is the minor grammatical errors and short sentences. Sometimes I feel the author could use more grammar to increase the length of the sentences. This, for me, would make the books read better.
Danny is just reliving some of his youth with all his exploits, however, this is to the detriment of his relationship with Kate. Fortunately, Kate was able to be strong and started dating and this really ticked Danny off as he realised he was missing out.
I really enjoyed all the turn of events for Danny and Kate and it is nice to see their family growing at a great rate! I also like in this book how we get to see a more of a grown up Rich.
I'm looking forward to reading more of the series and how the characters grow. I love the 'little brothers' and how they are emulating the 'big brothers'. That is a cute part of the story!
Brilliant. Second book in the series is about Danny (Jess's sister) and Kate her best friend and sister through foster care. Kate has had a crush on Danny for years and they have a hook up twice a month but she wants more. Danny had a bad marriage and was deceived by his wife and her bitchyness. He finally get rid of the ex and wants to enjoy himself and not be tied down. After a hookup Kate says she wants more but Danny won't listen. She decides to hell with him she will date someone and find her HEA. This spurs Danny into action when he realises that he does want Kate. We follow their blooming romance with characters from book 1 making an appearance. It has happy sad and really laugh out loud moments. Definitely worth 5 stars
5+ Stars!! Wow!! What can I say...I'm blowin' away by this book! There was so much drama and action within these pages.. It was like watching an action film, kept me riveted! The MC men are sexy, badass with a whole lotta sweet mixed in. The women are beautiful, strong and fearless. I do have to say that I have never wanted to slap a fictional character before but Tracey is my first!! BITCH!!! The Little Brothers cracked me up.. Love them all!! I laughed out loud and cursed quite a bit while reading this, I'm sure I owe at least $50 to a swear jar!
L. Ann Marie does it again with another great book. Danny is great guy and in love Kate but he screws that up but when he tries to winner her back he goes all out. They marry and she is prego's with his baby and things change when one of her clients pass away and end up adopting 3 boys and life is wonderful and then the unexpected happens they end up adopting two more because their mother doesn't want them because they have down's syndrome. Danny finally is moving up in the club and life is wonderful. This story grabs at your heart strings and ups you right along.
a man loses his way but finds himself in time to settle down with the right woman and develops an amazing family by happenstance. all while fighting rival outlaw bikers...and dirty cops. reread on June 11 and still good. reread yet again and it still gripped me. would make a great action flic. Re-read the for the fourth time in April of 2017...like it that much. One of the best in this series. Re-read again in september, 2018. Love this series. Love this so much I re-read it yet again in October of 2019! Reread again in 2023.
I'm having a hard time finding the words for this review! This book was packed with action and love and so much more! I am so in live with Danny and Kate and the family they've created. I love the MC and all they've done and continue to do for those around them. Can't wait to read more of this series as well as some of this author's other work.
I have to tell you, I don't know how in the world I had not read any of these books in the Series (which is up to 10 at this point) but I started reading from this book and couldn't put it down, I am now up to the 4th book. (this weekend alone I read and finished book 2, all of book 3 and am 60 percent done with book 4) I have been on the edge of my seat, laughed out loud, and cried so much then sit and read with the biggest smile, these books are awesome, if you love MC books, large families, sweet, rough and dough people, with excitement, drama love and friendship you will love these books, I will copy this review into the next 3 books since I have read them all in just a few days. I can't wait to continue on! I don't want to put anything in these reviews that will spoil the stories, just take my word for it and get all 10 today, as soon as you finish one you have to start the next cause you can't wait!
I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale
I loved this book. It had everything I look for in an MC story. Excitement, danger, love, loss, suspense, Brotherhood, and family. This book made me laugh and cry. The kids in this story will melt your heart, and leave you smiling.
Danny had a rough start in life. He was in and out of foster homes. He kept a lot of his feelings bottled up inside, and focused on raising his Son, and trying to make a life with his pathetic excuse for a Wife. When he finds out that she was cheating with his friend, he decides to finally give up, get divorced, and start moving on to his future. Danny used to be apart of the MC, but when things got bad he moved on, and left that part of his life behind. After his divorce, and his Son joins the military, Danny realizes that he's missed the MC. With his Brother in Law being the VP, Danny goes back to the MC, and tries to prove himself after finding out that his brothers have doubt about his loyalty.
Kate, or (K) has crushed on Danny for years. She's his Sister Jess' best friend. She knows that Danny is a family man, and stays loyal to his hateful wife, even though she is rude to his family. But that hasn't stopped her from wishing she could have him and a family.
Note: there are typo's. However, if you're able to overlook them, you will be pleasantly surprised by how this book puts things into perspective when it comes to family and loyalty.
Loved Danny and Kate's story. Denny lost it for a while after his divorce, and Rich overseas. He lost the respect of his brothers, his sister and his girl. A few interventions and Denny gets it back together and then some. He wins Kate by owning up, and showing his love in everything he did, and gets his ring on her finger, and his cut on her back. A little brother or sister on the way for Rich and Patches. The brothers still don't see him. Danny lives their the all in motto. He does whatever's asked of him and handles things that need to be done. He supports Kate in her job with the women's shelter getting the brothers involved.. He happily opens his heat and home to five kids who lost everything and needed a family. Tracy's betrayal and the aftermath was devastating. I hope she lives a long life of retreat for all she threw a way. I loved the Baxter's support of their MC friends. Loved them. The little brothers. They have such good roll models in the brothers and old ladies they are surrounded by. They are growing up to be great men. The are paying attention. They are learning from example. They see the strong. They and the kids of the Baxter extended family are going to change the world. Love this series.!
I was hoping to like the second installment much better than the first one and to be honest, it started off really good. Manwhore Danny was living it up in the MC, having his fun (threesomes and foursomes) and treating sweet Kate as if she was always second best. He was terrified of a real relationship and committment after his EX ruined him and this begins his downward spiral towards losing the one good thing he ever had in his life. While I enjoyed their relationship and all the antics that went along with it, once the book got into all the rest of the rescuing abused women and politics in their small town, I just tuned out. It was too long, drawn out and the bikers just way too sweet to keep my attention. Once the focus of the book became the do-gooders in the club, and marriages and babies started happening, it just became another romance and not a hardcore biker romance. I think I'm going to stop reading this series...sadly, it just didn't do it for me. The writing is not bad (just a few editing issues) but it's just too light for my tastes.
**** 3.5 **** "a naughty boy sees the error of his ways" stars
What a fantastic follow up!! I love Kate and Danny's story! I love that Kate is a strong woman who is not only strong for her family but for abused women and children. Her and Danny taking in those kids was just phenomenal! I am so loving on the little brothers!! Little pissed about Tracy but that just means Ben gets a women that deserves his greatness!! Love the swearing jar and the beautiful spirit of the little brothers and what they do! I like their insight and strength! Great ending with Rich and the president. I absolutely love this authors writing style and story ideas. They are well thought out and they resolve at the end...thank you!! Can't wait to read more!
I loved this book. If I didn't have to work for a living I would not have stopped reading it. One night I was reading until 1 in the morning and I have to get up at 7. I can't wait to get started on the next book in the series. This author knows her material and knows how to keep you reading. This book had a great plot and lots of action and romance as well. I am definitely a lifetime fan. Danny and Karen make a great strong couple. All of these characters are great and make you care about them and they just draw you into the story.
This is a great story of forgiveness, redemption, looking past imperfections and one couple's capacity to love. In the beginning Danny comes off as not such a great guy, as he lives out his fantasies after a terrible marriage ends. He struggles with the loss if respect he earned for himself as well as the loss of the woman he really cares about. Throughout the rest if the story he shows what a generous and kind hearted guy he really is. L Ann Marie continues to create characters who we all want to strive to be.
I feel the same way I felt with the first book: "I am having trouble rating this book. I give it a 4 because I like the strong characters, I would give it a 2.5-3 for the plot though. It wasn't that the plot was bad. It was just that I felt there was also some kind of drama. The plot for me wasn't explained and thought out. It was just event after event and no real down time to just enjoy the characters and the environment around them." For this reason, I think I am not going to continue with the series, bummed!
Loved this one. It has heart. I wanted to kick someone for being stupid, laughed out loud (startling my dogs), cried as I was reading how stupid some parents can be and cringed as I read of the fighting the 1% encroaching and during it all enjoyed the family dynamics and loved the little brotherhood bonding. Yes, it has hot sexy scenes. This is truly a great read. I hope you read this. It will brighten you day!
Danny gets his girlfriend pregnant and his life changes. He loves his some but his now wife is crazy , so the doctor says. They divorce and he joins the MC when his son go into the military. Kate is Danny's sister, Jess's best friend. She has loved Danny as long as she has known him. Now that he's single they start seeing each other. He takes her out then the hook up but Kate wants more. Will Danny see what he's losing before it lost for good?
So far this book is my favorite one. I love the Little Brother's and love the way that they help each other like the Brotherhood does I just laughed at everything they did. Can't wait to read more of this series. Bought them all tonight so I could read them all in order.
This was a great continuance to a great series. In this book, the male character is trying to rectify a mistake he made to get the woman he loves back. The female character is strong by making him realize that she won't be wronged again. I would recommend reading this book if you have read the first in this series.
'MC: LaPonte' (MC Series Book 2) by L. Ann Marie is a great read. This is the story of Danny and Kate. Wow! This story is packed full of action, drama, passion, twist and turns. I laughed and cried reading this story. I loved getting to know more about Danny, Kate, and all the other members of the MC family. Highly recommend to all fans of MC romance. I can't wait to read what happens next!
Once again an awesome book. Danny is an amazing guy but one serious badass brother. His luv for Kate takes him a while to figure out but boy when he gets it there's no stopping him. Hot and steamy this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's full of action and drama u won't want to put it down. This Mc series is unlike anything I've ever read it's Soo gd. You are left wanting more.
Danny and Kate's story made me like the series even more.
The story continues with book 2 in the MC series.. Canny and Kate went through a lot before he saw the light and decided to straighten up and be the man he was measnt to be. There was sorrow, reckless behavior , and all the things that made this a great read, now on to book 3.
