Mistletoe Bride

Rate this book
A standalone small-town holiday romance in the Brides of Paradise series.
Forty-three orphans. One of them swears like a sailor. Holly Winter didn’t lie when she applied for a grant to feed her orphans. She just never mentioned that they had fur and feathers, or that the kids in the application photos were 4-H volunteers. Now she’s one of two finalists, and winning the grant is her best shot at keeping the rescue barn open and catching up on the secret mortgage her late husband left on the family Christmas-tree farm. While she waits for word, she and her two boys just have to sell a lot of trees—and persuade Bluebell the parrot not to swear in front of the customers.

Garth Andersen’s mother has been married twelve times, which taught him never to make impulsive, romantic decisions. So buying a run-down Victorian in the tiny Christmas town of Mistletoe, Wisconsin, sight unseen, is strictly an investment. Since he has to inspect the house anyway, he might as well handle the site visit to a local grant finalist for his family’s foundation. And while he’s at it, he might as well meet the young widow in the Packers cap from page two of the application. All perfectly sensible.

Until Garth arrives, meets a barn full of animal “orphans,” and runs out of practical options. Approving the grant would mean lying to the foundation. Turning it down would crush the woman he’s falling for. And the longer he stays—hauling Christmas trees, losing his shirts to a one-eyed tomcat, and stealing kisses on the back steps—the harder it gets to confess that he’s the one holding her Christmas miracle.

Mistletoe Bride is a fast-paced, low-angst Christmas romantic comedy closed-door, with kisses on the page, mild language and innuendo, a big cast, and a happy ending for everyone. Including the parrot.
Each Brides of Paradise romance stands alone and ends with a ring.

This book is book 4 in the Brides of Paradise series. It has 17 chapters and an Epilogue. I have to say that I did not enjoy this book. I’m giving it three stars because it was well written, no typos, or grammatical errors. However, I did not connect with the characters or the storyline at all. I think there are people who will really like this book, just not me.
