British Alpha wolf Jake Matthews spends his days among humans, pursuing a lucrative music career and avoiding his pack’s politics. When his current DJ tour takes him to the US, he stops in Los Lobos to visit family, and runs into the one Wolf he never wants to see again—the mate who rejected his claim.
While visiting her brother in Los Lobos, free-spirited Lexi Luparell is shocked to encounter the Wolf she’d denied when they were teens. Now she must face her guilt for the cruel way she spurned him all those years ago, make amends, and admit the truth. Jake was right all along—they’re meant to mate.
Lexi would love to explore the mate concept and her overwhelming attraction to virile, Alpha Wolf Jake, but he wants nothing to do with her. How can she break down his defenses when she’s the reason he built them in the first place?
Jake dates only human women now. Lexi had her shot at being his mate, and she threw it away. But when her life is threatened, he may have to rethink his position and do whatever it takes to claim his one true mate.

Alpha wolf Jake Matthews is taking a few days to spend with his family in Los Lobos. He doesn't expect to bump into his mate who rejected him years ago. Lexi Luparell has realized that Jake is her mate, she knows she made a mistake back then but she wants him now. Jake doesn't plan to give Lexi a second chance but the Call is pushing his beast. Can Jake forgive Lexi for the past?
Good story, quick read. I liked jake he radiated intensity with each page he was on. Entertaining, have to go back and read the rest of the series.
(RabidReads.com)So now we’re back in Los Lobos, site of the authors previous novella, Diamond Moon. I enjoyed that read, and quickly agreed to read this one as well. I received a copy of the book from the author, in exchange for a fair and honest review.
When Jake, a wolf shifter, was fourteen he realized that his mate was sixteen year old, Lexi. Lexi, being a pretty typical teenage girl, was pretty horrified with the idea and completely spurned and embarrassed him. Because of this, he never dates other wolves, only humans. He moved away from the U.S. to England, and now has a lucrative career as a dance music DJ and travels all over. During his latest DJ tour, he takes the time to stop in Los Lobos, to visit family. Los Lobos is home to a wolf pack, exclusively. What he didn’t know is that Lexi is there for a visit as well. Recipe for disaster or for a life long mating? And the question is because Jake is still hurting from Lexi’s rejection and wants nothing to do with her.
I did really like the character of Jake. He’s an extremely dominate alpha male, and Alpha heir to his father’s pack in England. After hearing the story of how he got turned down by Lexi, I really felt for him. So I knew that it was going to take some doing for me to like Lexi. I shouldn’t have worried, an older Lexi is also a much more mature Lexi, and after she sees Jake again she realizes he was right about them being mates all those years ago. And she is horrified at what she did to him. Can she get Jake to overcome all his bad feelings for her before he leaves again in a couple of days? That’s the premise of this story, and I did enjoy it.
We do get to see the couple from the last book in this series by this author, Ross and Darci, so it was fun to catch up with them, as well as returning to Los Lobos. The author also added in a side story with an stalker ex of Lexi’s showing up. What could have been just a romance, becomes a thriller of sorts, and that really added a lot to the story for me.
Keep in mind that this is a novella, so although there is some development of the characters, and some world building, there really isn’t as much as is usual in a book length read. It actually didn’t bother me as the story kept me reading, and I really enjoyed the whole thing. Of course it was a really fast read. If I had a criticism, it would be that I really am not a big fan of the cover. Jake is supposed to be really good looking, and the guy on the cover just isn’t. So don’t let that be a turn off.
Recommended to adult paranormal romance readers. Adult due to some pretty steamy scenes.
Jake the man-child and Lexi the woman whose all woman.
When Jake was 14 he used to worship the ground 16 year old Lexi walked on. Until he confessed to her that he was her mate and she made fun of him in front of everyone. We all remember how stuff like that sucks when you are a teenager but Come ON!!! I mean what 16 yr old, hot high school girl would ever date a 14 year old boy??? At that age they are like a foot shorter than the girls still, lol.
8 years later and he returns to town for a few days and he still has his nose out of joint to the point of cutting it off to spite his face. But while he hasn't grown up, Lexi has and although she still has her pride, she does apologize, (more than once).
It takes Lexi's psycho ex trying to abduct her (twice!) to get him to pull his head out of his ass. So I was a little disappointed in Jake. But I loved Lexi's character!
Jake Matthews is a famous DJ and also happens to be a wolf shifter. He found his mate when he was 14years old but she denied him. Since then he has vowed to never date a wolf and stays to human women with no commitment. While he is in Los Lobos visiting family in between gigs he runs into the one woman he hoped to never see again his mate. Lexi Luparell is in Los Lobos visiting her brother and his mate when she runs in to Jake Matthews the boy she denied when she was sixteen. As soon as Lexi sees him again she knows he was right all along they are mates. All she has to do now is apologize for the way she behaved and get him to accept they are meant for each other. Will Lexi be able to get through to Jake or will he be stubborn enough to walk away from his mate.
Jake is all alpha male complete with tattoos. He has built walls around himself to protect him from getting hurt again. Those walls start to fall apart as soon as he sees Lexi again. I like that fact that he doesn't let Lexi sway him at the start and the fact that he is brooding. Lexi is funny, sassy and smart. She knows she was wrong when she was sixteen but she has grown up and apologized. I liked the fact that she doesn't let Jake hide from their relationship and pushes him every chance she gets. The Cray Cray ex bring a bit of suspense and lets you see not only the strong Lexi but also the protective alpha Jake. It’s a fantastic read that I had to read in one go to see what happened. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes an alpha wolf, a sassy female and a twist.
I read this in an afternoon and really enjoyed it. Jake and Lexi grew up together and had a history. When they unexpectedly meet again 8 years later, Jake has become a Rockstar and he has not forgotten nor forgiven Lexi's cruelty or his humiliation. He does his best to ignore her.
Lexi, of course, will have none of his pouty surliness. She chases him down to apologize for the hurt she caused him all those years ago but, while Jake seems willing to forgive her, he still does not intend to let her into his heart again.
There is a lot of humor sprinkled in the story. I liked Lexi. She is determined to make Jake see her as the woman she is now, not the mean girl he remembers. Lexi is sassy and smart. I got a bit peeved at Jake because of his stubborn determination to hang on to his "lone wolf" attitude and refusal to move forward. While understandable, his petulance got old - until Lexi's psychopathic ex comes after her.
I loved the setting and Lexi's assertive determination to capture Jake's affection. The chemistry between the two is undeniable. There is a couple of sex scenes but nothing I personally classify as erotica. The book is intended for adults.
This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.
This is such a fun series and with multiple authors. We're back in Los Lobos, It's a novella so it's not huge and I of course ate it up like gumbo! Jake is a wolf shifter, and he's been in love with Lexi since he was 14 years old. He told her and she went a little nuts, as teenage girls can. He hasn't been with anyone since, because he knows she's his mate but he's not going to wait for her. He's a cool travelling guy, DJing around the world. But when he comes back home as an adult, he not only finds how much things have changed, but how much Lexi has as well. I loved Jake, and though I was mad at Lexi at first, I loved her too. He's definitely alpha, that's for sure. And they have both matured, and things are different now.
I loved seeing Lexi try to get Jake not only to forgive her, but accept her now. And I loved Ross and Darci so we get to see them too. And I get to get peeks around Los Lobos again so it was fun. I love how this author writes and I really like her contributions to this series. And there's not just romance, there's suspense and mystery and intrigue. I think that's why I like it so much. I can't wait for the next one!! 5 PAWS
Fate is a fickle bitch. When Jake Matthews was 14 he found his mate in 16 year old Lexi Luparell who then proceeded to embarrass him in front of friends and family. They parted ways and he only dates human women now. This book takes place 8 years after that fateful day. Much water has passed under the bridge. Jake is now a successful DJ and Lexi is a graphic artist. Jake is taking a break from touring by visiting his uncle’s family in Los Lobos. Lexi has come to Los Lobos to ditch a stalking ex and help her brother plan his wedding. When Jake and Lexi meet again for the first time in 8 years the chemistry is explosive. You can feel it across the room but Jake is not going there again no matter how much his wolf is pushing for it. Watching Lexi trying to redeem her 16 year old bitch is a romp you are going to want to read.
Before I get to my review, let me clear up one thing. This is a novella. A fast, sweet read. Comparing character development in a novella to that achieved in a book is nonsense. That said, there was quite a lot of character in play here.
Our couple-to-be is not making things easy on themselves or on us, the readers. One's trying to make up for a mistake from her youth, the other seeks refuge in denial. But when these two clash - which they do a lot - the pages in my hands sizzled. But the two are also incredibly sweet when it comes to the way they feel about each other.
A spot of danger doesn't just add another dimension to the plot, it might also be exactly what our love birds need. Or is Jake too comfortable in his solitude to act before it's too late?
This was such an enjoyable read and reminded me why novellas are so much fun. It definitely deserved all five of my stars.
After reading I discovered that this is book 27. Wow! With that said, I found Under a Mating Moon easy to get into both the characters and the story. I didn't have any trouble understanding what was happening even with this being number 27. There was a clear and simple background that caused some serious anger that Jake felt towards Lexi. She doesn't give up and is persistent in trying to get Jake to realize they are mates and this is going to happen. All in all a fun quick romance with some shifter drama thrown in. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.
Wow another great book in this series one I could not put down! What happens when your Mate is someone you rejected when you where in your teens and now he is back in the Hills and rejecting you? Find out in this story! There is also a stalker in this story. Great book.
