At fifteen, Troy and Liam were fostered by the same family, and although they hated each other at first, they gradually became solid friends. As adults, the two foster brothers live together. Both experience tough times, each being a rock for the other, but their love had never been anything other than brotherly.
Until they both fall for the same guy, and things get... complicated.
Dalton is fresh out of a ten year marriage. Feeling lost, he concentrates on the only thing he can control—his body. Developing from a chubby, unfit police officer into a lean, mean inked one, Dalton has never looked better, but inside, he's never felt worse. A relationship is far from his thoughts, and one with another man makes Dalton even more confused. He takes time to get to know Troy and Liam separately, but Manchester isn’t that big, and sparks fly when fate throws the three together.
Together, these three fight it out between them. Both Troy and Liam demand Dalton choose between them, but what if he didn't have to choose? What if it could work between three?
The things in life we fight for are never the easiest, but they’re the ones worth holding onto forever.
Welcome to the home of bittersweet M/M romances which will leave you craving more.
Nicole grew bored being a supermodel genius who worked part time for NASA, and decided to take a break from helping solve the mysteries of the universe with Stephen Hawkins to write m/m romance.
She has a loving relationship with her hubby of twenty years, and has achieved a lot in her short life considering she's only eighteen. She has fourteen dogs of all different breeds, plus twenty cats, and when she's not tending to their every need, and solving complex math problems, she loves to sew and can be often found knitting in the garden, which she maintains all by herself with her magical green fingers.
Finding time to make all of her own clothing and master the kitchen better than Gordon Ramsey, she's also a vegan domestic goddess and can often be found cooking up a storm bare foot in her kitchen.
Okay, so that's not true, especially the cooking part, though I do tend to be bare foot and I swear like Gordon does while burning my latest creation -- and I still think NASA will be getting in touch. Any day now!! *crosses fingers* I could sooo do that job because I'm so obviously awesome, but until they do...
I'm a full time author of M/M Romance and Erotica, and somehow I have several bestselling books under my belt. I've been writing for four years, and I self publish all my work under Hidden Pleasures Publishing along with my amazing team of helpers in the form my cover designer Kellie Dennis, editor Jessica McKenna, and all of my beta readers and PA's.
I'm a wife to my beloved hubby and mother to two young girls, and I do in fact have two cats who I adore, but no dog, as the hubby put his foot down. I live in Leeds in the North of England and I love it, despite the terrible weather.
My men are all seeking what everyone is, true love mixed with passion and their own happy-ever-after full of laughter and tears.
I know I'm probably gonna be in the minority here, but Colville's writing just doesn't do a whole lot for me. The sex scenes are hot, yeah, and the first book in this series had an emotional aspect I was able to get on board with. This book, however, frustrated me more often than it satisfied any craving I had for a menage romance. And that's mostly due to the fact that for roughly 60% of the book, it's not a menage. It begins with the pairings of Liam and Troy, foster brothers/best friends/lovers sans the sex, and Dalton and Kelly, the best friends turned spouses turned strangers. Dalton and Kelly break up, Liam and Dalton start seeing one another, then Dalton meets Troy, realizes he might actually have a future with this one as opposed to self-proclaimed relationship-phobe Liam...so then it's Dalton and Troy for all of a chapter or so, before Liam finds out and all hell breaks loose. Then it becomes a menage. And the whole time I was reading, I couldn't help being bored out of my mind because this shit just dragged on and on and on. There's no real conflict, and no climactic suspense theme to keep you interested in carrying on, so without that, it's just page after page of useless filler, waiting for these idiots to catch on. To make matters worse, Colville's technical prowess is sometimes lacking.
"Seen as though" instead of "Seeing as though", for instance. Once and I would have written it off as a typo, but it happened again.
"'If you feel like lying down, lay down.'"
How can you get the first part right and the second part wrong? I don't understand this.
"'This cock won't get sucked by itself.'"
Cocks actually can be sucked by themselves. What they cannot do, however, is suck themselves, and I think maybe that's what Coleville might have been shooting for here.
The dialogue is kind of atrocious. Lines like this made me throw up in my mouth a little.
"'You've owned me since I first walked into Aspire and saw your Greek god style body from across the room.'"
Greek god style body? Who says this to another person?
"...having Dalton there with a fresh pair of eyes and a new perceptive on things..."
I won't deny that there are aspects of this book I enjoyed. The problem is that the aspects I disliked vastly outweighed the positives. I think the first book maybe did this one a disservice. It dealt with kidnapping, hurt/comfort, and on-the-outs lovers being brought together by their mutual protective instincts for an abuse victim. In comparison, this book is just one giant Snoozeville.
I’m always on the lookout for something different than an established couple taking on a third in an m/m/m story and this one fit the bill very nicely. Dalton is restarting his life, finally being true to himself and coming out. He meets Liam who is more than willing to help him discover the joys of gay sex without the complications of a relationship, until Liam starts to fall for Dalton. After a while as friends with benefits, Dalton meets Troy and instantly connects with him. With the possibility of a relationship with Troy, Dalton ends things with Liam only to soon find out that Liam and Troy grew up as foster brothers and have lived together since they were fifteen, a relationship that has led to the failure of all their others. Neither would ever do anything to hurt the other, but both men want Dalton and they want him to choose.
I loved how we were basically given three separate relationships before the men all got together and how each character had a very distinct personality. There was plenty of tension and I really just wanted everyone to be happy. The build up worked really well for me and the sex scenes, in all the variations were hot. It works as a standalone but if you’ve read Saving Samuel, there are peeks of the men from that story as well. I'm looking forward to Blue's story next!
3.5 stars for this hot ménage. I enjoyed the characters and the chemistry... however the build took quite a long time. So much of the book involved building the friendship between Dalton and Liam and then unpacking the relationship between Liam and Troy. Of course a backstory is needed but I was waiting for the trio to finally work. Certainly worth the read if you enjoy a good ménage
In Saving Samuel Dalton was the straight friend with a crumbling marriage and a cheating wife. At the beginning of Discovering Dalton his marriage makes its last hurrah and he finds himself single, lonely and confused. Nicole Colville is renowned for creating complicated characters and this book is no different. It’s not GFY but more a man that has kept things hidden and slowly starts being honest with himself but as Dalton steps into his new life, first slowly and then with gusto, why have a relationship with one man when you can have two? See – complicated!
Troy and Liam have an odd and often strained relationship. Fostered together as young teens they are the most important people in each other’s lives but they are also the most destructive people in each other’s lives. Liam owns a gym which is where he and Dalton first notice each other and boy do they really notice each other in the shower scene! Liam doesn’t date, he rarely returns to a man a second time, so he is confused and pretty mixed up when he finds himself spending more and more time with Dalton and he is left downright terrified when he discovers he is actually looking forward to it!
As Liam and Dalton explore a new friendship that becomes sexual Dalton has very few expectations given that Liam has been honest with him from the start. The problem is that Liam hasn’t really been honest and the thought of Dalton spreading his wings and finding a man that can and will give him more leaves him feeling sick. Before Liam can admit his feelings to himself Dalton meets Troy and sees in him a kind of kindred spirit. Troy is beautiful and captures Dalton’s attention from the moment he sets eyes on him at his tattoo parlour.
For me reading this book was all about trepidation. I’d read the blurb so was pretty sure about what was going to happen but you have to get through over half the book before it does. I was feeling anxious as to how it was going to play out, how they would fit together and the build-up between Troy and Liam kept me on the edge of my seat. Everyone in the story could see how Liam and Troy should be together, I as a reader could see how they should be together but it’s only when Dalton is thrown into the mix that either of them are brave enough to go there and when they do all the waiting is worth it.
This is a worthy second book in the Manchester Menage series and I am very excited to read about Valentino, Blue and Kellan next!
Re-read November 2017 2.5-3stars It had been long time since I first read this one. And in that time I've noticed how much my tastes have changed, and how my preferences and needs in romantic fiction have changed, too. That being the case, I had to drop my rating.
This book seems to be just so bloody long. It takes for-fucking-ever for them to get it together and although I do like a slow burn...this one dragggggggggged. There were several good bits, but by 71% I was skimming, by 80% I'd thrown in the towel. I do genuinely like these characters, even though Dalton is a doormat for most of this, but it was such a slog to get to the menage relationship that it wasn't any fun to read.
Honestly, for me, Dalton just didn't have a lot to discover. *Shrugs*
Nicole Colville really has a way with telling a story, of bringing all the characters full circle and giving us a little bit of sass with a whole lot of love. She gave us three different people with different needs. She brought Dalton into both of their lives separately but made sure that we knew the feelings he had for both of them were true and pure. As I said, a knack for telling a story.
We’re first introduced to Dalton in Saving Samuel … he’s Milo’s partner on the force. He’s going through a tough time – a divorce, the loss of his father, the loss of his cat. Yes, Mog the cat was claimed in the divorce and it really broke him. He’s a monogamous, straight male who enjoys porn more than making love to his wife. Until he sees real life porn … Liam – the gym – the shower … being turned on by the show that Liam had no idea he was putting on. Now, let’s add his sexuality to the list of things that have him confused. Just the thought of Liam laying a hand on him has him both turned-on and questioning his whole life.
Liam is not a monogamous straight guy. He knows what he wants out of a lover and that’s just one night stands. He makes sure that whoever he takes home to his bed knows the score … he’ll pleasure them, bring them to orgasm and send them on their way. No man has ever said that he promised them more. How could he, he loves his foster brother and would never leave him. There is no place in his life for a relationship … he has love with his brother and sex with the men he brings home, or in the back alley or wherever he can. Until he meets Dalton. For once, he is thinking about a relationship, showing his loving and caring side to someone other than Troy. But, as the ultimatum is given to him, he walks away from him and back to Troy. He can’t and won’t abandon his only family.
Troy is monogamous, wants to be monogamous but all of his relationships fail and he’s left broken-hearted and going back to Liam to heal his wounds. He knows that Liam sabotages his relationships and knows that there is more to it than him just picking the wrong men. But, he also knows that he can’t ask Liam for more. He won’t ruin what relationship he has with Liam by trying to bring sex into the mix. When a chance meeting with a man that brings all of his senses to life, he knows that this is it for him. It’s time for him and Liam to go their separate ways. Liam has been a different person lately and Troy feels that he, too, met a man that could possibly fulfill him.
As Liam and Troy try to figure out their feelings for each other and Troy’s father being released from jail, Dalton comes to terms with his sexuality. He has no idea where the night out with Samuel and Blue is going to lead to. A chance meeting, a volatile confrontation, a pissed off Milo and decisions. Now it’s time to choose and he finds himself suggesting the Ménage. Can Liam and Troy finally admit that they not only love each other but are in love with the other? Can they find a way to make this work?
This is my favorite of the Manchester Ménage Series. I loved all three of the men involved in this story. I loved that they each had their own thoughts and feelings. I loved that they fought for what and who they all wanted. But, there were 2 things that bothered me in this story … first was how long it took for Liam, Troy and Dalton to figure it out. But, I should have been used to that with the writings of Nicole Colville … she has a way of totally building a story, full character building and making sure we understand where each of them are in their own heads. The second was that I was a little bit disappointed with the closure to the storyline of Troy’s father. It was a little bit anti-climatic. With the way Saving Samuel went, I was totally expecting Dalton to be stepping in and saving the day. I was a little bit let down with that. But, I could forgive Nicole Colville for that especially when I am really enjoying all the men of Manchester, their quirks and their love lives.
Liam and Troy are foster brothers, best friends and roommates. The only constant in their lives since they were barely teenagers has been each other. Neither of them have ever had a successful relationship, partly because they keep choosing the wrong guys, but mostly because they make each others dating lives impossible by dissaprooving of any guy the other dates. You see, almost as long as Liam and Troy have known each other, they've loved each other far deeper than just brothers or friends. The problem is, neither is willing to admit that to themselves, much less to the other.
Dalton is an aging, overweight cop in a bad marriage. Intimacy and passion are words that are absent from his dictionary, hence the reason he is going through a divorce. Trying to get his life back on track mentally, physically and emotionally for his personal and work well being, Dalton crosses paths with both Liam and Troy separately and enters into a tentative relationship with both. A tug of war or sorts ensues when the three men realize what is happening. But what if the only way for these three decidedly different men to be happy is with each other, all three together?
After first meeting Dalton in Saving Samuel as a secondary character, Milo's best friend, I was anxious for his story. I really enjoyed seeing how he went from depressed, lonely, overweight and generally just miserable in his life to someone that was happy, passionate, hopeful and caring. He grew by leaps and bounds as the story progressed and it was the most prevalent aspect of this story for me. I'm also a HUGE fan of throuples, especially when the reason they are together is valid. Liam and Troy are miserably, secretly in love with each other but refuse to admit it. When Dalton is unknowingly thrown into the mix, the lions den for lack of a better term, Liam and Troy have to face the reality of possibly no longer existing in the bubble they've created if they don't face their mutual attraction to each other, as well as Dalton.
I also enjoyed the circles that overlapped, all three men completely clueless. You have Dalton and Liam, Dalton and Tony, and Liam and Tony. Each relationship is it's own circle and the three overlap but never meet in the middle. When they finally do, the outcome is unclear for a while. The pace of the story was fantastic, everything slowly revealed at the appropriate time. And though you knew there was a confrontation coming, you didn't know when or how and I thought that was written nicely as well. Mostly, I enjoyed the character development of Dalton as an individual and the three of them as a throuple. The Liam, Troy not sharing their feelings with each other aspect of the story was a stretch for me, but aside from that, I really loved this book.
A kaleidoscope of emotions... Love, passion, angst, fear, anger and anxiety just to name a few, but it's all nicely woven together by the author. I cannot wait for Blue's story! More threesomes!!!
Ayayay, if there ever was a book that was named properly, this one was it!
This book really is the long LONG story of discovering Dalton, and I was bored.
Troy and Liam are foster brothers, and have not had easy lives. Liam inherited a gym after their foster father and Troy has his own tattoo shop, and these two are in a psychological relationship, which means; they chase all suitors away from each other, but they do not engage in smexy times.
Dalton is a somewhat 'chubby' police officer. He works with Milo from book 1 (yet another book I have apparently read, but forgotten about) and he's married to a BITCH! There I said it! Kelly was a bitch, doing the nasty on the side with a colleague. I get that their marriage had run it's course, but then you FUCKING get a divorce, before you schlep back diseases and other shit from your piece on the side. What irritated me the most, was that Dalton knew, but he just didn't do anything... He was just... Such a push-over! And for some reason he has decided that if he gets in shape, maybe they can stay together?! Off he goes to become hot, and off she goes to get it on with her new squeeze! And at the same time, she wants to remain friends... I'm just... WHAT?
At the gym he meets Liam and they start an affair... Sort of. Liam doesn't do feelings, since he gets that shit at home with Troy, but he would like to do Dalton! Dalton is discovering his 'sexual' side and other than all the navel-gazing this was kinda hot.
Then Dalton decides he wants a tattoo, and what artist does he find; well, Troy of course. They start 'dating', and are falling 'in love' and Dalton is in a kind of a bind. That is, until all of them are trying to figure out who to break it off with, and by chance they all meet at one of the clubs. And at this point we're at 70%! SEVENTY percent people. This is not a ménage-story, this really is a LONG LOOOOOONG story of Dalton discovering his gay-ness and who he wants to be with.
I get that this was 'discovering DALTON' but jeebus rollerblading christ this was long. And when you invest so much time in one relationship (Dalton and Liam OR Troy and Liam) it is freaking hard -almost impossible- to see the ménage working out. Also I was bored! This book was so freaking long, and there was so much navel-gazing that I ended up skimming quite a few pages! Be warned people the ménage is really not the main point of this story!
Wow, this is an incredible romance !! Liam, personal trainer/gym owner, and Troy, tattoo artist/ink parlor owner, are foster brothers who have lived through too much hate. Now they are both successful in business, still together and still looking for acceptance and love. They have an awesome batch of friends, and have each other, but not sexually. Each man wants the full connection of another. Along comes Dalton, freshly divorced from Karen, and unsure of himself and what he wants now that he's free. He's been going to Liam to get fit and he shed 30 pounds. He walks in on Liam in the gym shower and a whole new pack of feelings rush forward. On a different occasion he has a panic attack at the gym and Liam helps him. It's the beginning of a relationship for them. Liam finds something about Dalton alluring and deep feelings emerge. They take it slow, and then when Dalton's dad dies, he goes to get inked in his memory. His and Troy's attraction is incendiary, immediate, and profound. Each man doesn't realize that Dalton is the man they each want, so there are twists and turns. Liam and Troy also realize they have held back on their true love for each other. Deep thought filled characters, an interesting plot, and super hot M/M sex and ménage sex make this tale worthwhile. It is a beautiful, intense story, and I loved it. Well written, emotional, funny, and amazing, you can't go wrong. Highly recommend !! ENJOY !!!
I liked this book so much more than the first in the series. I might be the minority in this but I enjoyed that the characters in this book took their time to develop their relationship getting to know each other first and exploring the aspects of what they wanted. The dynamic in this book is different. Two of the MC's are foster brothers who have been living together since they were teens and have loved each other since that time. They have never been physical with each other never allowing the relationship to develop and not recognizing for what it was. They hid behind the label of being brothers and that all they had was brotherly love. The third MC was introduced in the first series and is coming off a ten year marriage where he was cheated on by his wife and now they are in the middle of a divorce. I thoroughly enjoyed the build up and I especially liked the fact that the "brothers" meet the third separately and fall for him separately and he for them. It took him coming between them in a sense for them to realize what they meant to each other even though it was always there just never acknowledged. Of course there are more issues, obstacles, and personal insecurities that all the characters need to overcome but in the end they find that they all need each other to make it work. Like the first book the sex is hot hot hot and the boys are fine fine fine. Este livro é muito bom bom bom!!!
The characters actually took time to develop a relationship. Sure there may have been a little instant chemistry and lust but no one really jumped onto everything. Dalton didn't just magically be okay with the realization that he was attracted to men. He stuttered a,bit and realized he was attracted to the person - not the gender of the person. It was nice to hear from Milo, Danny and Samuel as well. Looking forward to the next installment.
Discovering Dalton is book #2 in Nicole Colville's Manchester Ménage Collection, we got a glimpse of Dalton in book #1 Saving Samuel where we saw how close he was to his best friend and partner in the police force Milo. While reading book #1 I was so intrigued by Dalton knowing that he was hiding some major life experiences so when I heard that Nicole was writing his book I was all over that and messaging her constantly begging for his story and I'll say this.... Nicole once again did not disappoint this story was absolutely brilliant the flow was so well done and there were parts that I had to stop catch my breath wipe my eyes and then continue. The emotions in this book pulled at my heart I felt as if I were right there going through everything that these characters were. I love this authors books but this book has a special place in my heart. Absolutely Brilliant.
Dalton is going through a very rough time his marriage to his high school sweetheart is ending he's trying to move forward but everything seems to be working against him that is when he decides to take the step to lose weight join the gym with his best friend Milo, but what Dalton didn't expect was to have these feelings for the owner and his personal trainer Liam. Considering himself straight all his life he starts questioning himself which only puts more strain on him. Dalton has become friends with Liam and has a bond with him so strong and leans on him for support the pull between these two is fierce and when Dalton has a major melt down Liam is right there to pick up the pieces.
Liam is the owner of Aspire Gym and ever since Dalton stepped foot in his gym he was so lost in those striking blue eyes and couldn't get him out of his thoughts. They become friends and lets just say the chemistry between these two is scorching, determined to takes things slow Liam slowly inches his way into Daltons heart and vice a versa. Liam is very strong private and extremely protective of those he loves he keeps his emotions to himself only loving his foster brother Troy which they've been together and never separated since early teens but their love is purely brotherly until Dalton walks into both their lives and opens up feelings which have been denied for years.
Troy has lived through a horrendous tragedy and when he was put into foster care and met Liam they became each others family never to be without each other. Troy had been in and out of many failed relationships looking for his one true love but never getting it right so his trust in people is almost zero only having that with Liam, that is until a certain blue eyed blond steps into his tattoo parlor and wrecks havoc.
Here's where things become heated up and I will tell you I couldn't put this book down for a second. Dalton meets up with Troy while looking for a tattoo in memory of someone very dear and yes you guessed it sparks fly the electricity between these two is enough to light a room. So what happens when all three are confronted? Will Dalton be able to chose between the two men who have captured his heart? Or will Liam and Troy discover that Dalton is the missing piece that will finally give them all what has been missing in all their lives.
I really can't begin to stress how powerful this story is its a must read and is at the top of my favorite reads for sure. I highly recommend this book and if u haven't read book #1 Saving Samuel grab it now.
Oh we meet a side character in here which will grab you and I really can't wait to find out more in a future book.
Review by: multitaskingmomma My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars
I never read the first book, Saving Samuel but I read this one and I have to say, this can be a firm standalone. The author successfully managed to integrate the back story, quite angsty the way I understood it, and so I did not get lost with the characters who dropped by in this one.
Dalton is literally floundering through his existence, questioning it every step of the way. He recognizes who he is, what he looks like, etcetera, but if one should ask him WHO IS DALTON? he would not know where to start. He is that lost. It does not help his feelings of insecurities can be too painful to bear. One way to get over this dilema is working out and he does it with a focus. On what? You ask me, I ask Dalton, we don't know. Dalton is lost so even his focus suffers, it is a dot on the wall for all we know. In the meantime, his body is getting into uber-delicious shape. Does he notice? Again, don't think so.
Troy is one set of foster brothers. He is a very talented tattoo artist, at times he even uses his own body as a blank canvas. That is him on the cover. He is beautifully covered. He seeks to find a lover and partner for the one he truly wants and needs never seemed ready. Though, Liam seems to be a little bit preoccupied lately.
Liam is a trainer. He made sure the aging, overweight, insecure cop gets on his workout and after months of dedicated training, he sees the vast improvement. In the process he begins to wonder what it would be like if he and the cop had a relationship that actually lasted more than a few hours.
Dalton has no idea Liam and Troy are brothers. He sees them separately and with a clear conscience. He is falling for Liam fast, he has known him as trainor and friend so does know him longer and better. There is just something about Troy, though, that is easy to fall for and their connection is almost instantaneous. He is torn. How to tell, how to break, how to come clean.
This is a menage and can be complicated. In this story, the relationship that develops is very, very complicated. And yet, there is nothing angsty about this one. Surprisingly, the story flowed so smooth, without too much of a specific element to drag anything long or down. Very easy read, and yet the characters developed to their fullest potentials. Nicole Colville made this throuple work.
Note: eARC copy provided by Pride Promotions for an honest review.
I am never sure where to start with reviews for Nicole, other than to say this book is as always a masterpiece of writing talent.
Packed from start to finish with complex relationships and life decisions which are real and make you feel for the characters. I personally laughed and cried (cried more than once) with these men. They made me want to get into my car, drive to Manchester and hug/slap/kiss them all at the same time. Ms Colville manages to bring characters to life, breathing realism into them and making you believe that could would walk into a pub and have a beer (or two) with them while you listen to their woes.
Dalton is at a crossroads in his life, marriage is on the rocks and the effects of this cause a ripple effect through his life which he is powerless to stop. As his life unravels, someone takes hold of the fraying threads ad begins to help him pull things together. What Dalton wasn’t expecting was to have these feelings for another man.
Liam is a strong character, private and fiercely and protective of those he holds close to his heart, a heart incidentally, which is as large as an ocean but an impenetrable fortress. You don’t get in unless he allows you access, and that list is minute.
Dalton catches Liam’s eye and the rest is history. He becomes his friend, but all the time they both want more but are unsure about taking the step across the imaginary line drawn in the sand between them. The attraction is hot and burns brightly, although Liam doesn’t want to rush things with the shy unsure man, afraid he will scare Dalton away.
Enter Troy, Liam’s adopted brother and the only person he has allowed into his heart. Troy is looking for love in all the wrong places, and Liam is always there to pick up the pieces as he loves him in a way that he shouldn’t considering they consider each other as brothers.
Problems arise when Dalton meets Troy and falls for him. Having gone from a marriage with his childhood sweetheart, he now is faced with confusing and new feelings for two very different men.
Can Dalton choose between them? What happens when they meet and the truth is uncovered. Ill Dalton have to choose between the two men who have captured his heart, or will Dalton Discover love he never knew possible?
Fall in love with these three men for yourself, and find out what happens. Also a huggge shout out to the character Blue, who is real breath of fresh air and is someone I cannot wait to hear more from.
Wow, what an amazing ménage story. So much more than a romance, so much more than sex, and entirely full of love between two men who finally find each other after they meet their third. I thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Dalton and his issues, and I was happy to see him become the catalyst to jump start the ménage, but I was completely in love with Liam and Troy. I loved the history and the love between these two “brothers” and wanted nothing more than for them to get it right.
I completely got the story line between Liam and Troy, and I was all for the Liam and Dalton coupling…that just made so much since, but….I struggled a bit with Dalton and Troy. Liam and Troy had a history and love that no one could compete with or compare to…not even Dalton, at first. But I think Troy and Dalton was too fast, too easy, and a bit unbelievable. But because the rest of the story was so freaking good, I was able to suspend my disbelief and just go with it.
What amazed me was how long it took to get to the real sex…and the amazing part is that I didn’t miss it and didn’t realize it until it actually finally happened. The sexy times were so hot and heavy that it wasn’t needed. The love between these guys so palpable that no matter how they expressed their love it was coated in love and lust so thick that you didn’t need anything more.
What I did want more of was alone time between Liam and Troy, I wanted Liam to make Troy purr….it almost didn’t seem fair that Dalton shared in their sexual beginning, but, it wouldn’t be a true ménage otherwise, so I get it.
Don’t let my hangups sway you from this story. It was simply amazing. The story was complete with real life situations, characters you can believe in, and a detailed history so that you finish honestly believing that you know these guys and you believe they will make it. Ménage may not work for everyone, but for Liam, Troy, and Dalton, it was destiny.
Well Much like the first book, I liked it. I was just sad to find the same flaws as the previous book. The characters are endearing, the story is well told despite the editing being quite worse from before..... I liked that the story was different and we got to have separate relationships and then a threesome. Despite that, there is still a very characteristic lack of balance between said relationship. In book one, Daniel was the "victim" of that unbalance, here Troy is. Like book one in which I thought milo and Daniels relationship got forgotten halfway through the book her it's Liam and troy's relationship which I found was kinda swept under the rug. There's a bit at the beginning, a it at the end and that's it. Again, much like Samuel in book one, dalton gets a lot of both characters and I get it he is the MC like Samuel was but I find it disturbing that in a relationship involving three people there always seems to be one who gets pretty much axed and barely spoken of. An entire third of the relationship, namely Troy and Liam is being forgotten about until the very end...... I started resenting dalton's overblown presence in the book just like I did Samuel before. Also, I found the lack of intimate scenes just between two of them kinda puzzling..... Just like in book one! It seems like they can't do anything unless all of them are together.
The very similar I got from those books tell me it has to be done on purpose, that one character inside that threesome is bound to be everywhere all the time and one side of the relationship is also bound to be skimmed through but I enjoy books more when they're balanced and give each their share of love so to speak. I'm guessing the book will be the same.... And it's a shame because much like milo and Daniel, Troy and Liam had quite a lot to sort out so it was strange for them not to have a one one one, heart to heart kinda moment, where dalton wouldn't be there........
Original review on Molly Lolly Four stars! I enjoyed the heck out of this book. I liked getting to see Milo, Danny and Samuel again in this story, kind of like a mini update. I felt bad for Dalton and all of the things he went through personally. It’s like the hits kept coming. But Liam was an amazing support for him in his time of need. Then he met Troy and things just kind of exploded. I didn’t like how Liam and Troy went from trying to calm each other, then fighting, then calming, and back again when the three figured out what was happening at the bar. It didn’t seem true to their relationship up to that point that they’d fight like that in a physical way. But the emotions between all three men up to that point were so raw. I liked how they talked about the relationship to decide how to proceed when they realized they were all dating guys that knew each other. Liam and Troy couldn’t see their own feelings for each other through most of the book. They couldn’t see the forest for the trees in front of them. I loved the sweet happy ending of the story. All the little pieces were wrapped up and you can tell all three men are deeply in love and will be together forever. My favorite scene is where Liam helps Dalton in the gym shower with his panic attach. The way Liam cares for Dalton right then before they know much about each other beyond workout habits is wonderful. The emotion is so strong in that scene. Then right after when they’re flirting with each other and Liam is pushing Dalton’s buttons? Holy moly that is some hot stuff. Blue is a wonderful new character and I cannot wait for his story. He’s a total sweetie!
This is the second novel in Nicole Colville's Manchester Menage Collection and it is even hotter than the first!!! A policeman, a gym owner and a tattoo artist - combine to make one hell of a hot story!!! The policeman we met in Saving Samuel, the other two are new - but they are so hot - the pages of your book will burn. Nicole also allows her reader to catch up with the characters from Saving Samuel, which is great. Dalton is about to have a huge change in his life - one he never expected. His ten year marriage is over and he is regaining his self-esteem. He is a member of a local gym, here he meets Liam and sparks fly between the two. But, Dalton doesn't believe he's gay and this is where the fun begins. Liam, the gym owner, lives with his foster brother Troy. They are best friends, but they are also hiding secrets from one another - they have fallen in love but are to scared to say anything. Dalton suffers a loss when someone close to him dies, so he decides to get a tattoo to honor them. It is here that he meets Troy and the attraction between the two is instant. Can Dalton really love both these men at the same time? Will he be forced to choose between them? What happens when Liam and Troy find out that they are both in love with the same man? Will the three of them form in forgettable menagerie that will have you wanting more? To find out these answers you need to read this unforgettable book. A love story that goes beyond the regular triangle. Nicole Colville has excelled - this book was as good, if not better than her first menage adventure. Brilliant Nicole. Definitely FIVE STARS from me!!!
This was the first time I've read a book with a menage relationship, (apart from the SPECTR books, which made me feel more comfortable about trying this book out).
Initially, I was drawn to the book by the hot tattooed guy on the cover, but immediately put off by the fact it was a menage. The idea of 3 people in a relationship together never seemed likely to me. I've thought that there'd always be one person feeling left out, or not as loved as the others (because can you really love two people at once?)...
But after reading this, I have to say I've been won over... I completely bought into the menage relationship between Troy, Liam and Dalton. It felt genuine, and the menage really fit well with these characters, and their personalities and their individual needs.
I liked that before the menage, Liam & Dalton, and Troy & Dalton got to know each other and develop feelings (and in a way that felt right, and not like anyone was being messed around or cheated on). And the 'brotherly-but-jealous' relationship between Troy and Liam was just right, and I found it believable that they could change this to something deeper.
I think the author did a fantastic job of bringing the three heroes together, in a way that made me think "yep, these three need each other", when I wasn't completely sure that I'd accept the idea of 3 people all being in love.
I liked the other couple/triple (what do you call a set of 3 partners??), Milo, Daniel and Samuel, they were lovely characters, and I will be reading the first book in this series as I'm keen to learn more about them.
5 stars from me. It was a lovely surprise to read something totally out of my comfort zone, and enjoy it so much.
I was mesmerized by the cover, so when I saw the first post of this book I went to amazon to have a read what it is about. I was intrigued and wanted to read it. And I did. I couldn't put it down. I was always interested in working triads, not just menages a trois, but it is hard to come by real stories about three people living in one relationship.
I haven't read the first book in the series, but it doesn't matter because the characters from that book appear again, but get an introduction, so I didn't miss much (ok, I want to read their book now too).
Dalton is a police officer and after his marriage breaks down, his friends take him on a night to get him out of the blues. He has been partying with his gay friends before but this time he is questioning his being straight. All due to something that happened at his gym, where he went to religiously to become the buff policeman he is now. I think that was the most funniest and a bit embarrassing scene, when he happens to see Liam there, his PT and owner of the gym, at the night club. But someone else notices Dalton too.
Then he meets Troy and things become more complicated. Troy and Liam live together, are foster brothers and have their own little demons to deal with. So this book is not only about Dalton finding his sexuality but also about two men, who have to overcome a mental stigma they built up, because they have been hiding behind their brotherhood to show their own feelings for each other.
Very emotional read, very engaging and quite charming. I loved some of the side characters very much and hope to read about them too.
Discovering Dalton by author Nicole Colville is the second book in the Manchester Ménage Collection. This book does not have to be read in order to understand it. Dalton is having a really hard time when we meet him. He is in the process of getting a divorce. He isn’t sure he really wants a divorce but he knows he is not happy and well his wife being in love with someone else is a really kicker too. He is a police officer and he thinks he is straight. That is until Liam changes his mind. Liam owns the gym Dalton goes to work out at. He has noticed Dalton for quite some time. Liam is always in control and in charge but when Dalton challenges all that, he is sure to crumble. He wants a family and a safe place to fall at the end of the day. He has his foster brother Troy whom he loves with all his heart, but has not told him. He needs more than just Troy. Troy is sensitive, warm, sweet and covered in tattoos. He covers his skin but doesn’t cover his heart. He is a free spirit always falling in and out of love. He is looking for someone to call his own and when he meets Dalton he thinks he has found him. All three of these men have a huge amount of baggage coming into this relationship. Whether it be sexual or emotional they are all looking for a place to be home and family. Watching them find their way is hot, sweet, and downright amazing. I couldn’t stop reading this book. Really well done, the characters are vibrant ,alive, and truly memorable. If you love ménage, man love, and a storyline full of angsty love, this is a must read.
Another beautiful love story by Nicole. I loved her first menage book, Saving Samuel and this one is on my favorite list too. Dalton has quite a life altering event happen, actually two. First his wife leaves him after 10 years of marriage then Dalton's life takes a turn, he discovers that he likes men. He is a bit late coming out but that's part of his journey in this book. He finds Liam who he relies on for comfort and support. Dalton can't stop himself from loving Liam but Liam doesn't want a relationship. Dalton meets up with Troy who he has instant chemistry with and can see a future with him. Dalton is torn because he loves both men but he needs someone that can commit to him. Dalton is forced to chose between the two men but then he realizes he won't have to chose if they take him up on his idea. I will try not to spoil it because there is a huge twist when it comes to Liam and Troy. Nicole does a great job of taking time for Dalton to discover who he is and also for the relationships to grow between himself and his two loves. Samuel, Milo and Daniel from Saving Samuel make appearances in this book too which I really, deeply appreciated. I love those guys and these new ones too. Thank you for another great story Nicole! I am looking forward to "Blue's" book.
I thought book one was just okay. I connected much more with the characters of Troy, Liam and Dalton. I love their names and the first draw to this book was the cover, which was so sexy. The only drawback for me was how long it took for them to come together. Most of the first part was necessary though. Dalton needed to come to terms with his new sexuality. Liam needed to realize he could be more than a one-off wonder and really get to know someone. Troy needed to feel that he could have stronger emotions for someone than he'd had in the past. They got to know each other separately, didn't all fall into bed right away. Liam and Troy didn't know the other knew Dalton and didn't meet together till 70% into the story.
I felt that some of the first part of the book wasn't really necessary. The ex-wife was nice and understanding but the split with Dalton could have been more condensed or even left out for the most part. She pretty much disappeared from the story pretty easily. There was just a lot of detail that ended up feeling dragged out. It was nice catching up with Danny, Milo and Samuel. There were some new characters introduced that we'll see in future stories. It was a strong story though and very well edited.
This book went on way too long, it could have been cut by a third easily and still been a bit of a rambling essay. It took far too long to get anywhere close to being a menage story - almost 60% of the narrative is Troy and Liam being best friends/brothers/anstying over their feelings before Dalton even enters the picture.
Also the breakdown of his marriage/relationship just was odd. There didn't really seem to be any actual catalyst for it happening (other than this idea that he was really gay - again a bit off as he was obviously bisexual - and "needed a man or two".)
There's loads of grammatical errors in this one and the dialogue borders on the beyond cheesy at some points: "You've owned me since I first walked into Aspire and saw your Greek god style body from across the room." Sorry but just no, nobody actually talks like that in real life do they?!
And, as with the first one, for a Manchester-based book, I just didn't really get the setting as a viable sense of place.
Because this a menáge can i get away with giving each character 5 stars ???? Well i tried and if i could i would !! Loved the way each character was developed and also loved how this was different from book 1. In book 1 the mc's were already a couple whereas in this Troy & Liam aren't, and it takes them both finding Dalton who is just out of a straight relationship to realise that the reasons any relationships they'd had in the past weren't working due to how they felt for each other, even though they didn't want to admit out loud. Absolutely brilliant, some really steamy sexy scenes and the scenes with Blue, Samuel & the guys were funny in places. BUT there is 1 line which is spoken by Blue ( Whose book i can't wait to read) that really stuck with me, it was when he said to Dalton "I'm not gay, i'm a person, a human being". This line holds so much meaning, proving that love shouldn't be labelled by gender, colour etc as long as you love that person what does any of that matter ??
More like 3.5 to me. I mostly enjoyed it, good characters, good story, great sex. Tho I must admit some parts of it made me roll my eyes.
Things I liked: - Liam's dirty talking; - Liam's possessiveness - Troy's sweetness - how ppl assumed Troy was a badass because of his tattoos but he was in fact, super sweet and romantic; - how Dalton brought Liam and Troy together - how Dalton dealt with his sexuality; - the fact that the sex scenes were developed. They didn't just happen. They evolved.
Things I rolled my eyes: - Milo's attitude with Dalton. No spoilers but he acted like a crazy jealous boyfriend with no reason whatsoever; - how fast Dalton accepted his feelings for Troy. It felt a little like "insta-love" to me. - Liam's possessiveness. Yeah, I liked it when they were in bed, but hated it when they were out of it.
Overall, I enjoyed it and I can see myself reading more of this author.
