Tequila Nights

Rate this book
NUMBERS. They were as cruel as they are kind.
The summer of my TWENTY-FIFTH birthday was one I would never forget.
With only ONE glance, I lived and breathed Leo Santiago.
For THREE months, I had the time of my life with a man who caught me by surprise.
But FOUR words changed it all.
NINETY days… Ninety agonizingly beautiful days I found and lost my greatest love.
SIX kisses and Leo whispered his goodbye.
SEVENTEEN THOUSAND miles cruelly denied us from that something wonderful we had created.
SIXTY long days dreaming of the nights we shared.
Numbers. They were bitter and they were sweet.
Every day I counted the hours, minutes and seconds until Leo would find me.
ONE dare, FOUR rhythmic beats & a bottle of Tequila 47.
… one taste and I was hooked.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I was surprised at this book having read some of Melissa's darker books. This was a terrific read. I was totally captivated with Leo, here is a guy who is incredibly handsome and is well off but he is so grounded and he is totally captivated by Josie. Josie who is artist meets Leo when he models nude for one of Josie's art classes there is an instant attraction but it until Josies best friend gives her dancing classes and who is the instructor yep you guessed it, Leo. Leo and Josie begin their relationship and it is amazing but only to have the one thing Josie has been working on for most of her life come to be an internship with a top art school in France for 2 years. They struggle with the decission on whether to go, stay, how can they still be together and so on. This is really a good book, you have to amazing people who just fit each other perfectly and reading about them is such a pleasure.

“Me, personally, I consider her a herpes. Just when you think she’s gone, suddenly she reappears on her rampages and nothing we do gets rid of it.”

My Review:

Tequila Nights is a sweet and sexy love story that I found appealing and entertaining from beginning to end. I enjoyed the story-line, quirky characters, humor, and the comfortable writing style. The protagonists are likable and charming, and relish and balance each other in an enjoyable manner. The writing was engaging and amusing, and the sensual scenes sizzle on the page. I covet her Leo, I want a man who “worshiped me like I was his goddess.” It was a quick and satisfying read.

Being a lover of Melissa's darker work, I was ambivalent about her foray to the lighter side. How wrong was I! Leo captivated me from the beginning and I fell in love with Josie. I wanted nothing but the best for her and (unusually for me), I liked her better than the male MC. Leo was scorching hot but Josie had so many sides to her that I couldn't help but root for her in every chapter.
Do yourself a favour and take a chance on this love story- it's well written, perfectly paced and captivating! Even the secondary characters will suck you in. I want more of Mimi!!

“He was my moment of perfection. My summer of love.”

Already a huge fan of Melissa Jane’s darker romances, I was excited when I heard she was going to jump into this genre. Melissa Jane writes awesome heroines. They’re strong, funny, and love with their whole hearts. I absolutely adored Josie. I totally felt for her as she landed herself in countless embarrassing situations. I was both laughing and cringing at her antics. Her best friend Nicole was hilarious. The type of girlfriend everyone needs to push you out of your comfort zone but never let you go it alone.
Josie first meets Leo when he poses nude for her art class and sparks fly for the pair. They meet again and find themselves inseparable, realising they have a chance at true love.

“Leo Santiago was intoxicating. A mix of all things that held me captive. He was strong and gentle. Possessive and free. But most of all, Leo Santiago was never letting me go. And that’s what scared me the most.”

But, like all heart stopping romances, nothing goes according to plan, and Josie accepts a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ sponsorship program in Paris to pursue her love of art. This is Josie’s dream. Everything that she has worked so hard for. She just never expected to find Leo first.

“Fate is bittersweet. Wanting us to meet and then separating us.”

I always admire an author who does their homework. Melissa Jane knows about art and she knows about dancing. They were both an integral part of the story and I was swept away into this world. This is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon where you just need a story to forget about the rest of the world. I can’t wait to see what Melissa Jane does next.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review over on my blog (Pretty Little Book Blog)

This book is a hilerious, steamy read. Josie meets Leo when he is the male nude model for her drawing class (I know right! It gets better trust me!) and Josie gets a little on the distracted side and ends up almost choking and falling all over the place. (a girl after my own heart! I just thought I was a klutz) but sparks are flying while Leo is in the class and yes, still naked. Josie makes it through the class and back home and then learns that her friend has bought her Salsa dancing lessons for her birthday. Fate steps in and guess who is the instructor? ;) more hijinks and adorable moments happen in the course of the rest of the book (and yes, some steamy bits as well! Because well I figured you inquiring minds wanted to know the lowdown on that)

This is one of those books that you start in the morning and next thing you know it's getting dark and you have a finished book, a crick in your neck from staring at your eReader and a new appreciation for lovely stories like this. I loved everything about this story, the funny cute parts,
The heart wrenching parts, and all of the dancing and music it made for a perfect blend of romance and discovering who you are and the fact that you can find love in the most unexpected places.

4.5 Stars!

Brand spanking new author for me and I am happy to report that I really liked this book. And I feel like I hit a gold mine with the author. This book captivated me from the very first page and by the time I came up for air, I completely devoured this book til the end and it devoured me right back.

This romance was so sweet, fun, and unique that I couldn't help but be drawn in from the very first page. This romance was absolutely brilliantly written, engaging, and made me smile so big while I was reading. From Josie and Leo's first meeting, you will be drawn in by their passion and chemistry.

This is Josie and Leo's story. After meeting in a very unusual but fun way, Josie and Leo have no idea that their lives will forever be changed. And when fate throws them back together, it is the start of something beautiful... sweet... amazing... inspiring... intense... passionate... and life changing.

Their story was full of quirky moments, lots of feels, fun banter and tons of steam to keep you blushing. You will fall hard and swoon major time for Leo. And don't forget Josie... you will find yourself rooting for her and totally crushing hard on her. Get ready to fall in love with Josie and Leo.

I recommend this book.

Hmmmm, I love Melissa's writing. And I was excited to see her write a different genre. And well, after this one she deffo needs to write more!

Josie and Leo were perfect characters. Their whole story in fact, was perfect. Heavy on romance and heavy on building the characters to really get to know them and heavy on being emotionally connected to them.

I loved Josi, she's kind, she's fun and she's loves her art. But there's more to her art than meets the eye and we get to find out how so and what happens because of her art.

Leo, oh my, I want a Leo. Just bloody perfect in all aspects of what your ideal man would be. He can cook, he can dance, he's caring and he's an adonis. Sigh... there went my ovaries again.

Now I'm not keen on books where the H/h get together quickly on, I wonder at how I am going to be kept entertained, but this story went by so fast that it was the end before I knew it and therefore this goes into a top read, for engagement, deliverance and gorgeous characters. For an all round great read.

I loved this refreshing read. A beautiful romance delivered perfectly.

I received a copy of Tequila Nights in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are 100% honest.

I first discovered this author with her debut novel "Little Doll" which was a Dark/ Mexican Cartel read and I was keen to see what she could do in a contemporary romance. Well just like her other books this one was great!!

Josie an artist who is quite clumsy and accident prone first meets the sexy and stunning Leo when he turns up as the naked model in her life class. He is Spanish, a chef with his own restaurant who also teaches Salsa dancing. Dool. - I love this man! His voice in this book was captivating and I loved the way he wooed and romanced Josie.

The author did a great job with the secondary characters and they really added to the storyline, I looked forward to the scenes with her best friend Nicole, Jase and Jase's daughter Mimi. This little girl will make you cry and your heart soar all at the same time.

If you are after a sweet romance that's quick and easy to read this might be one for you.

Congratulatios Ms Jane and I look forward to reading whatever you release next.

I absolutely loved Leo and Josie.

I wasn't really sure what to expect when starting this book. Being a fan of Melissa Jane, I knew her previous books were dark and this is contemporary. However I enjoy her writing style and the synopsis of this book sounded really good, so I decided to give it a try. I certainly was not disappointed.

Leo was everything that I want in a contemporary hero. He was sexy, witty, and crazy about the heroine Josie. I just loved how they met and his interest in her was clear and unwavering. Every interaction they had made me love him more and that just held strong to the very end.

Josie was fantastic as well. She was a good friend. She wasn't whiney (which I love Melissa Jane for so much as I hate whiney females) and even in moments when she could have been jealous and gone all crazy chick, she didn't. She was a joy to read.

I absolutely recommend this story and I look forward to more from Melissa Jane in this genre.

When I started this book I didn't know what to expect. I read the prologue and was hooked. I think that may be one of the best prologues I have read. After reading the prologue there was no there was no way I was putting this book down. I had to know who the penis belonged to and how it related to the story. This one definitely has it's funniest moments, like real laugh out loud moments, but it also has some serious part too.

Jesse is an art student. During an art studio she meets the man attached to the penis, Leo. Jesse and her best friend Nicole are down to earth funny girls. These two are definitely the type of girl you would want as friends. Leo blows into Jesse's life when she least expects it. Leo is great. He is super sexy and sweet. Leo and Jesse are great together. Jess is offer a once in a lifetime opportunity that will be stress on her and Leo's relationship.

This is a great read. You should check this one out.

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!!

This was a quick read that was easy to fall into. I loved all the characters. I laughed, cried (boy did I cry), swooned, was devastated all in one sitting. I don't want to give away too much. Read for yourself to see what happens. It is worth the one-click.

Well....This book was a BIG disappointment.
I have read two of Melissa’s book before this one (Neverland & Monsters) and LOVED them.
So, imagine my absolute annoyance that I couldn’t even make it to the end with this book (stopping at ch,26 and going straight to the epilogue. No surprises).
There was no slow burn here, as the thirsty art student Josie launched herself at part time nude model Leo Santiago instantly. (All giggly and clumsy fumbles).
Yep 0-100 pretty darn quick.
The rest of the book was filled with the many time J & L could hook up for sex before she left for her two year scholarship position in France.
Throw in an obsessive best friends sister determined to take advantage of Josie’s absence, and have Leo for herself.
Said best friend Jace and Yep,...his sick daughter (I kid you not)
The best friend Nicole (there for the advice, dirty mind and plot stimulation)
A background sub-plot revolving around Salas dancing (Well, Leo was Latin and all)
And, a bunch of drama at her uni,

Leo came across as a very stereotypical, generic Spaniard.
The Josie was very average. (Her clumsy behaviour was not endearing. More annoying) She started out all shy and self conscious,...Next minute, she can’t stop ripping Leo’s clothes off.
The whole book was average. Thats why I didn’t need to read it to the end. I felt I was always two step ahead of the characters while reading. That was the problem, I felt I have read this kind of plot scenario some many time in so many different books. Nothing about it was fresh.
When I skimmed over the epilogue, I was proved right.
This book maybe someone else’s cup of tea if your looking for a cute, quick read with lots of sex (?) with no surprises.
For me,..nah ah. After reading her darker romances, i found them to be more compelling, challenging, and satisfying. This book did nothing for me. Two stars

This author has made her way into my tbr pile and I have dug her out. This sweet insta-love read had me laughing through the clumsy side of her he brings out and swooning over the sweetness of their story. It's a story that has them both reeling from how fast it moves and filled with angst over their upcoming due date. It's well written with characters you can't help but love and a little one who takes your heart. There's good happenings and then there are those characters that make you want to throat punch them. All the way around I am glad I have found this author who makes me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy in one sentence and calls to my protective side with the other. I have a few more of her books in my pile that I will be working through.

Tequila Nights
By: Melissa Jane
5/5 stars

This is Melissa Jane’s first foray into contemporary romance and I think she nailed it. I loved her dark cartel series and was excited to hear that she had something different in the works. She had nothing to be concerned about switching up the genres for this book. I fell in love with the characters and their friends.

Josie is a college art student and somewhat of a natural klutz a condition that is exacerbated when she’s nervous. She’s chasing not only her dream but also her mother’s. Her mother was a gifted art student, who later developed Alzheimer’s and died early. Josie is following her advice to paint the world beautiful, while also following her love of art.

Leo is a perfect gentleman who also likes to get down and dirty. He’s a genuinely nice guy, a man who knows how to treat a woman, who is sensual and has a love of life in general. He is a giver and a pleaser, but all alpha in his wants, needs and Josie seems to pull that side of him to the surface even more than usual.

Leo & Josie are a passionate couple who found each other by chance, had an attraction and developed a relationship even with a pending separation headed their way. I love the way they are together and though everything happens quickly, it doesn’t feel like insta-love at all. I was thoroughly intrigued by the side characters as well. Since this is a stand-alone, I was glad that Melissa Jane also wrapped up the side characters stories and didn’t leave me hanging.

Tequila Nights was a wonderful read. It was impossible to read it without a smile on my face. The way the characters met was hilarious and I couldn't wait to see how their relationship progressed into something more. I loved how insightful Leo was and how he always tried to understand Josie and support her through everything. They formed a strong bond in such a short time and anybody around them could see they were obviously fated to be together. Josie was so artistic and determined to not let anyone try to change her artistic style. She was such a sweet and unique character and I truly enjoyed it.
This was the first book I have read by Melissa Jane and I really enjoyed it. Her writing style was perfect and the pace was steady even though the characters relationship formed within a very short amount of time. I can't wait to read more from this author- I'm looking forward to it.

Tequila Nights was a short and sweet romance. Josie is an art student trying to finish out her degree so she can further her career follow her love of art. During one of her art classes a gorgeous model walks in and so begins the start of Josie and Leos story. And it was an intense one. They find themselves falling for each other fast only to have Josie leave to follow the only dream she ever had-study art in Europe, thousands of miles away from Leo. The heartbreak that follows is intense. Nothing seems to feel right for Josie and her missing Leo just adds to her misery. There are a few moments in the book that I was wondering why the author didn’t follow up on for example one of the professors knew Josie’s mother but why did she hate her so much? I wanted a little more back story on that. Aside from that the story flowed well and I genuinely liked Leo and Josie together and I was rooting for them to realize they needed each other! Really glad I was able to read this one.

Loved, loved, loved this book... First time author... Definitely not the last. This couple was magic... Loved the chemistry between them, loved their friends.. Well most of them. This book had a little of everything, with a great story. (Would have liked more character building, don't really know much about either of them) but I can overlook this as I was mesmerized by them just being in the moment.
Melissa Jane did a great job!
