It was supposed to be a routine divorce case... until she allows her professionalism to slip.
Street smart as she is book smart, Lacinta Macrow has it all. Beautiful and accomplished, she's built a name for herself as one of the sharpest legal minds in the city, even having her expertise employed by the White House. She's second to none, which is why she doesn't appreciate her new client doubting her competence.
Nathan Henricks is a self-made billionaire with an arrogance that annoys Lacinta from the start. Despite his cocky demeanor, she can't help but be fascinated by this exceptionally handsome man who's hired her to handle his complicated divorce. However, when the case takes a dangerous turn, Nathan offers her refuge in his sprawling mansion and an unexpected romance blossoms.
The smoldering affair leaves Lacinta pregnant yet happier than she's ever been, but all of that changes when Nathan's stunningly beautiful ex-wife shows up and works her way back into the affluent entrepreneur's life.
Lacinta finds herself heartbroken and alone, carrying a child Nathan Henricks knows nothing about.
How will the billionaire react when he learns the woman he hired to manage his messy divorce is now carrying his baby?
"Divorced by Default" is a standalone steamy romance with HEA.
Lacinta and Nathan are good together but he's determined to save his marriage for his teen daughter. A druggie wife does not a good parent make. And Lacinta isn't much better when she winds up on the wrong side of town alone for an appointment with the wife's attorney. Leaving should have been her move, but that's the setup for staying with Nathan so.... A generally good read but the editing needs a lot of work. And I never got a read on where they were but "bloody" leaves me to think England.
The proofreading really takes away because it wasn't just misspelled words but there is an attire discrepancy, at first he had on a suit then after the meeting he was jean clad. Then there was the good afternoon, good morning response but maybe she was nervous because she was riding in a limo.
Nathan is a (selfish, immature, manipulative) billionaire who is separated from his drug addicted wife & raising their teenage daughter alone.
Lacinta is a successful divorce lawyer who picked the wrong client to get involved with. He's married, he moves her into his mansion after she was threaten by his wifes divorce lawyer then assaulted when leaving his office. Since they're both already attracted to one another....predictable. But the wife comes back and Lacinta has to pack up right after she discovered she's pregnant by a married man.
Of course Nathan calls off his divorce (not knowing Lacinta is pregnant) but he also wants/expects Lacinta to be his mistress. He tricks her up again by employing her, Lacinta tells him about their baby & he thinks it too much for him right now because he doesn't want a committed relationship.
Lacinta is strong & knows she deserves better so she accepts his rejection yet again & decides to raise their child alone but every strong woman has a weakness and hers is Nathan....
There were some things in this book that had me baffled. At 1 point there were using English phrases.....we're they from England? Then in another part it was evening but when the other person responded they said it was morning. But all told this wasn't a bad read. Just please next book keep the facts straight
Good Read, BUT A good, fast and decent read with a few editing/grammar issues. Although it was somewhat predictable. You've read this story before. Many times. Enjoyed it but, I have no desire to revisit this couple.
I really enjoyed this story the author knows how to tell a great story. I wish there was editing because it would be horrible for this talent to be wasted
This book was all over the place, the plot was good but it was so fast paced that a lot was lost. I've never read this author before, but I would again.
