Straight forward

I had previously read a book from this author and was excited to read this book hoping for something along the same mystery line. For me, this one was more straight forward. The reader was fully aware of what was going on. In order for it to be mysterious, I had to put myself in the character's shoes. There were several villains in this book keeping the main characters guessing. I did find interesting no-one seemed to lock their doors. The book moved along at a decent clip so I decided to complete the book. It could have been better though.

Meh.

I wasn't as impressed with this novel as I was with the last one by this author I read. Eliza was an unlikable character. She was spoiled, whiney, and stupid. What's that saying about the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions over and over again and expecting different results?

To sopping and not realistic f5

In this story the father wills the title of Duke to a cousin if his son doesn't marry within a a short timeframe. Well that's not historically correct, and it bothered me throughout the book. The endearment s are overdone and became to much that I started skipping pages.

Engaging story with interesting characters. Just enough ‘steamy’ romance. (Not a fan of ‘slashing’ cheekbones 😂). I’d read more like this!!!

I wasn't sure I would like this book since I don't really read historical romance. But I would so read it again. This is another one that is a must read. Great for a cold rainy day.

I didn't like Edward at all, but towards the end of the story you almost feel sorry for him. When Nicolas was first introduced I didn't care for him, I thought he was an arrogant man and didn’t deserve a woman’s love. But as the story went on the author made me change my mind about him. You root for him to win Eliza’s heart. Eliza is a strong woman and I loved her from the first moment. This is a wonderful story about Nicholas and Eliza and how they fall in love. The author does throw some curve balls at you, but it just makes the story even more enjoyable.

Could have been a good book

This had a good plot with good characters, but missed the target completely as written. It is boring and not sensual nor romantic...but it could have been. It ends with unresolved issues that probably shouldn't have even been brought up in the first place as you are left wondering what happened. The plot goes totally south by the last third of the story, and basically was uninteresting by the last couple chapters. I wouldn't recommend it as written.

Another great book by msg. Carlysle

Silk and scandal is a steamy sexy book with some murder and mayhem thrown in for good measure. The love of the Eliza and Nicholas was heartwarming. I always enjoy me carlysle books and look forward to her next one.

Nicholas and Eliza

This era is my favorite setting for stories. This one was constantly changing. The twists and turns were very entertaining. This is one of the very best I've read and I would definitely recommend it.
