So, so many gold nuggets in here, such as 15-minute work projects and developing a compulsion for closure. He also includes the results of a little-known study where participants who exercised every morning were far more likely to exercise daily lifelong than those who exercised later in the day. This book is a joy to go thru again and again because there are so many great ideas in here, all completely actionable.
One caveat: Tracy may not be trustworthy viz. a popular story he recounts in this book. The story tells of author M. Kopmeyer, who wrote 4 books outlining 1000 principles of achievement. Tracy met him perchance, and asked him what the single most important principle was. Per "How to Master Your Time" the author stated "Discipline" as the most important factor. However, in a Youtube seminar entitled "Maximum Achievement" filmed in Romania, Tracy recounts the story but says the most important factor was "Learning from the experts."
Huh? Well, which one is it? I'm going with discipline, because without discipline none of the other principles can be meted out on a daily, consistent basis.
Pretty solid book on Time Management, there's a lot of useful tips and also some obvious ones that you'd never think about. To get the maximum out of it I think I need to read the book at least 3 times because as always Brian Tracy gives so much practical advice that without taking action and re-reading it you can't really get all the benefits out of it. Pretty cool read, on this subject my favorite book is Getting Things Done from David Allen and if you're interested in mastering your time I'd recommend Getting Things Done before this one.
I finally completed the book, “How to Master Your Time” by Brian Tracy. I started reading the book in the first week of November, it was an easy read overall. The book title says it all so it’s no-brainer to figure out what this book is all about. What the author didn’t share in the title that, this book is specifically for the top managers in MNCs, sales guys, employees, businessmen, and students.
The title was very obvious which was the reason why I didn’t pick this book up from the shelf for a very long time, I guess I was prejudging the book by its title and I thought that I was managing my time very effectively. I was so wrong. Often we think that we are right and later find ourselves to be so wrong. If you think you manage your time well and you are kind of proud of it (like I was before reading this book) you should definitely read this book. This book actually tells what other successful people do to use their time effectively.
In the beginning, the suggestions we were very obvious but gradually I started relating them and started saving the important suggestion in my notebook. If I would list them here they would seem quite obvious but the reason why author suggested them to the readers is not at all obvious. The last 5 pages of the book were like the best summary ever of the book and I was thanking God that I picked this book up. In order to share with you more effectively, I would share the learnings later in subsequent posts.
Most of the ideas given here are obvious for the moderately organized person. Tracy outlines some ideas like setting goals, doing fewer things, prioritizing, etc. The more specific advice might be useful if it were updated to the modern era.
This might be a good starting point for someone absolutely struggling to manage their time, but if you are already a pretty productive person, there won't be much here for you.
Excellent. The skills, applications and concepts of time management are what we should be teaching all children from a very early age - as it will make all the difference in the quality and open depth of their lives and hence setting them on the path of continuous improvement and learning. These principles must have been on the tablets that Moses dropped coming down the mountain. But now we know...
Tracy does not claim the paternity of the ideas, but they are very clearly presented. And the best part: so many other motivational speakers of today have made a good living simply by taking one idea from this volume and making it into a 70 minute speech. And they didn't even have the audacity to try them: just googled some half baked examples, examples they do not get. And the audiences still enjoy it.
I really like this book, it is full of great tips that everyone can apply in their lives. I already see positive impacts of the book by applying some of the tips from the book. This is one of the books that is worth reading over and over until the learnings from it become a habit.
really awesome audio series(well I had the audio version anyway)...although an older educational course..I feel EVEN MORE relevant now with all the information we have to deal with on a daily basis...time becomes ones greatest asset

Having read it quite a number of years ago, I remember liking it, yet I can't seem to remember too many specifics about it. Obviously it wasn't bad, otherwise I would have remembered that, but neither was it good enough to burn a vivid image into my mind, so three stars is probably the fairest rating I can give it.
This is 6 CD set. There is NO fluff at all. I have listened to this at least 4x all the way through. This is the most amazing jam packed time management I have ever read.
Tracy gives ample notions to master time thru various strategies like daily plannin, weekly, monthly and even yearly.. Hope this book may play a part in improving me in time management
If you want to earn £200k per year you need to be creating value of about £120 per hour or £1,000 per day. Make sure that you are contributing circa that amount.
This is easier in a sales role and harder to define in other roles but that doesn't meant you shouldn't try. (Also add on the other costs your employer has, pension, life insurance, private medical, employers NI).
What value can be placed on the tasks you do. Are you seriously adding this much value. What costs are you saving or what are you adding to the top line.
If you have a day of tidying your desk, making coffee and shopping online while your boss isn't in you must contribute £2,000 the next day to make up for it. Each hour spent watching youtube cat videos or people you've not seen since school on Facebook is another hour you need to work twice as hard.
