3 Learning and Growing Stars * * *

Two people in the throws of becoming who they will be... will they connect and grow together... will they learn to be comfortable in their own skins... will they become strong enough to follow their own paths rather than the one presented and forced by parents... these are questions with some answers provided along the way.

I got sucked in by the title and the premise.

Love love love Hannah. She's so much stronger than she thinks she is and I really enjoyed reading her figure things out. I adored that she stood up for what she wanted, no matter how much it hurt.

Ben is insanely passionate about books and I wanted to quote nearly everything he said about reading. While he's certain of what he wants to do with his life, of course there have to be some meddling parents.

Yes, the plot got a little clichéd. Yes, I wanted 1000 more scenes of Hannah and Ben being Hannah and Ben. Yes, I loved the ending. All in all, it was a super cute read that made books a major character in the story.

First, let me apologize to the author. I'll admit I was afraid to start this book because she's an online acquaintance from pre-publishing and I was totally afraid that I'd blow that whole thing if I read and did not like her book. After all I nearly have a gold medal in the one star rating olympics. I'm critical. /snorts
Now that I've read it I can feel silly and ridiculous for worrying.

I. Loved. It.

I should have known she wouldn't all of sudden subscribe to cliches and immaturity that I've noticed on the new mass crop of romance authors who force connections and rush to the porn scenes (of which are so outside of reality); and who lack a proper rudimentary knowledge of grammar and writing. (I refuse to fully acknowledge "new adult" as an approved genre even though I do have a shelf for it - which is mostly one star fail.)

I should have trusted the writer I knew from before. The one who gives me female leads I can find likable and care about, even when I have nothing in common with them. And male leads that pull at my heart strings, even when they mess up. Her secondary characters add just the right amount of outside interaction without overstepping their roles.

The moments I liked and hated the most were the ones that made my chest tighten, my tummy clench, my face burn with emotion and then the extra pain of having to hold it all in because I'm sitting on a train and refuse to let a single fat tear drop fall on to my kindle app in front of strangers!!!

My favorite part of all was analytical Hannah seeing the magic in her own relationship. The comparison of chemistry and alchemy was quite poetic in my opinion.

A special thank you for the intimate scenes you wrote. They were tastefully done and steamy as hell.

A very quick great read. If you know me at all, you know I give five star ratings out sparingly. This book makes the cut and is going straight onto my "favorites" shelf. I can't wait to read the other stories you'll give us!

And on a personal side note, Spangly, I'm so very glad that you've taken the road you are on. I know it's taken longer than you hoped, but please believe it was so worth it. The product you've put in to the world of literature is top notch quality that will last long after all of this new adult business has faded. If I were a high school teacher, I'd rec this book as summer fun reading for everyone graduating. Whether going on to college or not. Life decisions, crossroads, standing up for yourself whether boy or girl... Well done.

Ben and Hannah are two university students at a crossroads, when they find each other. They fall in love over shared books.
(In fact, I got a couple ideas for future reads from this book)

Ben is reluctant to pursue his attraction to Hannah for the first 3rd but was wonderfully apologetic for being an *ss when he needed to be.
Then the story moves on to them learning (with each other's support) to step out from their parent's shadows and take responsibility for their own futures.
I don't want to make it sound easy, it's not. There are bumps along the way and the ending is of course more of an HFN because he is only 21 and she is 18.

Anyways, a really sweet low angst read.
(not at all like the angst in "A Duchess in Name" These MCs are more open and caring)

safety is good and some sexy times

3.5 - 4 / 5 Fangs

I went into this book wanting a cute and fun romance book, and that is exactly what I got. I was so pleased with this book! I was especially happy with the romance. I thought the romance in this book was just so cute and well written. Sure, the couple had some drama that drove me crazy, but I feel like that happens in every book. I thought Ben and Hannah were absolutely adorable together. I loved watching their relationship develop. It was so heart warming. I felt like I was watching a cute romance movie.

I thought the old bookstore setting added such a romantic feel to the book. As a book lover, I adored seeing the characters in a bookstore and bonding over books. The only thing that bothered me about the bookstore setting was that the characters would talk about books I have never read before. Of course, this is no fault of the author. However, I wish that the books were made up or something so I didn't feel completely left out of the conversation. That being said, I thought it was so cute that Ben and Hannah bonded over books. It made me want to find a guy who works at a bookstore, and fall in love with him. Essentially, Amanda created my perfect man, and put him in a book. I still think about Ben and how he would be literally perfect for me in the real world. Ben was smart, caring, funny, and just adorable. Sure, I got annoyed with some of his decisions in the book, but I still loved him. I feel like I am in love with him. I WANT HIM.

Him, with glasses? SWOON.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! Some of the drama was a little immature and unbelievable, and sometimes the characters were just plain stupid. However, those things aside, this was such a fun book. I had a great time reading this book. If you are looking for a fun and cute new adult romance book, then I definitely recommend that you check this book out!

This book was SO, SO GOOD! I immensely enjoyed every single thing in this book, the plot was nice, the characters were great, they had their flaws but they knew how to learn from it. The romance was sizzling hot! And there were realistic themes that were dealt in this novel that made it much more intriguing.

Summary-

Hannah has been studying hard since her childhood to study honours in Chemistry because she wants to become a drug researcher like her father and help him create the medicine for cancer that took her mom when she was a kid. But when she starts her college she realises chemistry's not her thing, not for the long run. She meets Ben, a senior who works at a used bookstore. They slowly begin connect through books that Ben chooses out for her because she was a non-reader till now. Each book changes her a bit by bit as she discovers a whole new world and they both begin to fall for each other. Ben loves to study English literature and wants to persue his career further in this line but his father wants him to become a lawyer. When they finally stand upto their choices, will fate be with them or will they be thrown into the whirlwind?

Plot-

The plot is really nice, it was pretty realistic which made me definitely like it. It's not simply a romance novel but far more than that, it's about life and making the right decesions and following your heart. I loved how they connected through books and how they slowly realised what was right for them and finally finding the courage to face it. I loved the relationship between Hannah and Ben. They were the perfect example of how two people truly get each other. They developed and matured throughout the novel along with their relationship. The chemistry between them was crackling, I loved the romance between these two, I couldn't get enough and still wanted more.

Characters-

I fell in love with all the characters. Hannah was definitely a character I loved. She was strong, sensible though a little childish at times, she knew what she wanted. Though it did take her a lot of time and courage for to finally face her father about her career but she finally did it. I could connect with her on a personal level because I went through something very similar and just like my parents, her father accepted her decesion as well. Ben was a total nerd and passionate about books, he was sweet and caring. He did a lot of stupid mistakes at first, but he quickly learned from his mistakes and gave his best to make up for it. The decision about his career was more tough to make because his father threatened to disown him. But I loved when he stood up for himself and decided to give his dreams a go.

I loved the other characters as well. Hannah’s roommate, Jasmine was sweet, caring and a loyal friend. I even liked his boyfriend who treated Hannah like his sister. I also loved Adele and her relationship with Hannah and Ben. I even liked Alex, I was only angry with her for about 30 seconds but then she went back into being the awsome person she is. They all, formed a big happy family. That scene when everybody stood up for Ben in the bookstore infront of his father was EPIC! It was literally the best scene.

Writing style-

The writing was simple and beautiful. It was very easy to fall into the rhythm of this book and I loved it from the very first page. I loved the humour and the tone of this book. It definitely gives a positive message. The pace was even throughout the book, it was neither too slow fast nor too fast. I definitely enjoyed the writing, I didn't feel bored for even a second, I easily finished it in one sitting, this book was throughly entertaining.

Overall-

This Book Will Change Your Life is a book I enjoyed very much, I was glued to this book from the very first page. The plot was really nice with a touch of realistic essence. The characters had their fair share of faults but they learned from their mistakes. I enjoyed the sizzling hot romance between Hannah and Ben and I enjoyed the rest of the characters as well. The writing was smooth and beautiful and the pace was even throughout the book. This book was very addicting, I couldn't stop for a second and finished it at one go. Overall, I loved this book very much, it had everything a NA book has with so much more.

Recommend it?

Definitely yes if you like NA books with great characters, sizzling romance with a realist plot.

I went into this book wanting a cute love story that was filled with adorable scenes that would make me laugh and smile…and that is exactly what I got! It's a book about booklovers in a bookstore?! Hello how can this not be amazing?

I absolutely adored this book. From beginning to end, it was exactly what I wanted and more. I loved the writing and its effortlessness. This story was really easy to get into and I couldn’t put it down. I was attached to this story and these characters. I felt them. I ached with them. I wanted to cry with them. This has quickly become one of my new favorite contemporary novels because it can be so relatable to so many college students.

Hannah and Ben are both struggling with their unforeseeable future. They both struggle with deciding what to do with their lives and not wanting to disappoint their families. I found this to be 100% accurate of many college students who are struggling with making the same decisions. I know I had a difficult time and it makes you feel so unsure when so many around you seem to have their life together and you don’t. I loved that Hannah didn’t want to work with Chemistry anymore, but felt like it was too late to change her major. She felt lost and alone trying to figure out what she wants and that’s the beauty of life. It’s never too late to do what you love. Ben and Hannah both fought for what they really wanted in the end and it was refreshing to see how strong this made them and how strong they made each other.

I loved Ben and Hannah’s relationship throughout this whole book. It was adorable and such a perfect example of how two people truly just get each other and are able to be there for one another all the while having their love grow deep into something magical. They had their problems and found their way back to each other to work and fight for what was important to them. It was realistic and believable.

In addition, the friendships in this book were pretty amazing too. I loved Jasmine’s friendship with Hannah. I even loved Adele’s relationship with both Ben and Hannah. They all became a family and shows you that family is so much bigger than just a blood bond.

This book is worth the read. I have to give it 5 stars because I felt such a strong connection with these characters and their story all the while relating to their insecurities and troubles. I wish I could read more about Hannah and Ben because I love them dearly. I wouldn’t mind walking around a book store for hours while Ben tries to decide which book will change my life.

I mean, how adorable is Ben?! Passionate about books? Handsome? Glasses? How can you not swoon over him?

Overall, this book is fantastic. If you’re looking for a cute contemporary, pick this one up!

This Book Will Change Your Life was such a good read, I really enjoyed it.

I was drawn in from the first page until the last, a lovely/relaxing Sunday afternoon read.

I loved Hannah, she was smart, sweet, honest and very likable. I really connected with her character. I enjoyed watching her fall in love with reading and finding an emotional connection with the books Ben would recommend for her.

description

Ben was a sweet cute guy who was a little clueless. A few times I wanted to reach into my kindle to tell him to open his eyes and see what we all could see, the perfect girl was right in front of him! silly boy lol

But once Ben saw the light, he opened his heart to Hannah and together they found strength and support to go after what they truly wanted in life.

description

Another hit for me was the supporting characters, they each played a role to make this book such an enjoyable read.

This book made me feel so many emotions, I was smiling and swooning one min then angry and tearing up the next.

Amanda Weaver has written a beautiful heartfelt story that will leave you with a heart full of happy feels.

Hannah has always loved and dreamed of being a Chemist just like her mother was before she died and her father is now and so she begins her college life as a Chemistry major studying Honors Chem. After she fails her first major test , she is distraught and she heads out and finds herself standing in a secondhand bookshop "Promethus Books". It is here that she meets Ben , he is nearly finished his English Lit degree and is preparing for Law School to follow in his family's footsteps - the thing is though that he doesn't want to - he wants to go to Grad School and earn his MA and become a Professor as he sees Books as a way to change your life for the better. Hannah isn't one who reads , so she tells Ben to give her a book - any book and soon this turns into a weekly occurrence. As the novel goes along ,we read as Ben and Hannah get closer and we hope they connect romantically - the thing is though that Ben has a long hidden crush on Alex who is his best friend and she works across the road at the coffee shop. What he doesn't realise though is that it is Hannah who he can bare his soul too and who he wants to share the world with. Can Ben decide who he wants to be with before it's too late and he picks the wrong girl ? Though just when things start to look up for both Ben and Hannah - the pair crash and burn as Hannah views Ben as a coward and a heretic. This Book Will Change Your Life is basically a journey novel , a novel that shows in order to Change your life you have to take a chance and no matter what the consequences will be , it is more important to be happy in life doing something you adore than be miserable and stuck doing something you hate just to please someone else . If you are a book lover then you will love this book as it touches on a few awesome stories and novels which I loved the little reflections and quotes from. This has made me also think about things as I believe if I could have re-done University I would have studied English Lit and gone on to that side of life.

In the acknowledgements Amanda Weaver tells us what inspired her to write this book. I remember very well when she first tweeted about the cute boy she saw in that bookstore.

A guy becomes a hundred times sexier when you find out he reads. There’s just something about a guy who opens his mind to the new ideas, emotions, and experiences that you find in books. He’s also probably smart. Smart is hot.

Ben is a student working in an off campus used bookstore. He’s smart, thoughtful, and a bit nerdy. He loves books. He knows books. He is way into books. He is hot and adorably smooshable. I love him. I want him. We are MFEO.

Hannah is a Freshman Honors chemistry major. She’s responsible and studious, but is having a little trouble adjusting to college life. She (tiny spoiler) doesn’t read much outside of school. I know, hard to understand, right?

I really like Hannah. She’s open and honest, which makes her seem naive, but she’s not. Her maturity comes in handy when Ben behaves like a clueless man. (Nobody’s perfect, after all, even Bookstore Boy.) She handles it better than most of us would have at 18, or any age.

I loved the story, how Ben and Hannah figure out how to make decisions about their own lives while falling in love. Will they be able to make it all work and be together? I’m not telling.

Once Amanda let us know she was writing Bookstore Boy’s story, I practically internet stalked, annoyed, and borderline harassed her every time she mentioned it. (I did try to restrain myself.) Now, it’s finally here! He’s finally here! Bookstore Boy! Go get him!

3 "You already have." Stars

This book was quite sweet. Just a lovely story told from the points of view of both main characters, Ben and Hannah. In my opinion, this book is more young adult than new adult. Each character being in college trying to figure out their place in the world. They meet under really normal circumstances, build a friendship, a crush, and finally a love story. The book is short. I read it in just a little over two hours and it was a nice anecdote to being awake in the middle of the night.

Ben isn't your average romance hero. He's sweet, kind of shy, impossibly smart, and a bit of a total nerd. Yet he's really great and you can understand Hannah's connection to him. Hannah's a bit of nerd herself but she puts herself out there and is so eager to learn more about worlds she's yet to discover. Through Ben's love of the written word and Hannah's budding love affair with books these two develop a really sweet connection.

There were a couple of plot points that didn't work so well for me. Ben's caught up in an image of himself his father wants him to see when it's so clear to Hannah and the reader this image isn't at all him so this story line became redundant. There's also a crush he has on another girl for all the wrong reasons and the angst contrived from this didn't work for me.

Overall though, the story really was an enjoyable read. Amanda Weaver writes great dialogue and her story thoroughly held my attention.

Found by... luck, I'd say, and bought by impulse. I don't regret it, though. I dived into this book looking for a sweet love story, and that's what I got. Truthfully, I found the beginning of the book very sweet and... the fact that Ben wasn't dominant, confident, and cocky was actually nice for a change. Don't get me wrong, I like the occasional cocky bad-boy, but the NA romance/chick-lit is overflowing with the stereotypical alpha male. Ben was a fresh change, and I liked him. The same goes for the awkward moments and insecurities that both parties had. Finally, we don't have an innocent, naive, deep female that is lured 'to the dark side' by the over-confident, all-knowing boy :)

The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that it didn't deliver quite to my expectations. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but I expected the characters to be a little more layered, especially in the intense moments. Everything went on just a little too smoothly (although I thank God that there wasn't a love-triangle; I would have cried). And it was too short! No, really. I would have liked the relationships with the families, and even Ben and Hannah's relationship, to go just a little bit deeper. But, overall, nicely carried out. Plot wasn't half bad either.

But it is a nice, easy, sweet read that I'd recommend (when I say 'easy', I mean it; I've finished it in one-sitting during an afternoon). It is really decently developed and the writing style flows quite nicely. It isn't perfect, but, in my humble opinion, it's better than a lot of romances out there :)

This Book Will Change Your Life begins when Hannah meets Ben in a book store out of the blue one day. She has a plan for her life, and when she gets introduced to Ben and his books things take a turn for the odd for her. And Ben also has a plan laid out, although not by him, and when Hannah comes waltzing into his life everything gets turned upside. But Ben may not take these changes as well as Hannah does...

This book was pretty interesting. It was also very sweet in the beginning when it came to how Hannah and Ben meet, and how they interact. I thought that was really cute. And I enjoyed the rest of the story line as well.

What frustrated me though is Ben. I hated how cowardly he was, and how he hurt Hannah several times, but he did finally make up for it, even though I kind of hated him by that point for being the way he was.

Overall I really did like this book! It was a cute different kind of romance with lots of drama.

There's nothing wrong with this story, per se. It caught my attention right away and held it for the first half of the book. Meet cute designed to make book lovers grin. Believable, if simple, backstories for both leads. But then the whole thing went on to remain so clear-eyed and earnest that that simplicity began to pall. I finished it, but the bloom was well off the rose by the time I did.

Maybe I missed something? I thought it was cute but a little too rushed and dramatic. I mean, I get that changing your major or letting your parents down or defying their wants are big deals but for the love of god it's not the end of the world.

Where's the gif of Kim Kardashian bawling because she lost her diamond earrings in the pool and Kourtney reminding her there are worse things in the world like people dying? Maybe I'm being harsh tonight but it kind of applies.

With a title and a summary like this, what bookworm can resist? Obviously I can't. I've been on a review-copy downloading ban because I have too much I need to read and review. I was doing good, only downloading things by authors I know and trust, nothing that I could live without. But this novel just grabbed my attention for obvious reasons. Of course I was approved and I devoured this immediately. It was a weekend read that I flew through and absolutely adored.

Hannah and Ben were both well developed characters that I really enjoyed. They are both smart and nerdy in their own ways. What I really loved was watching Hannah fall in love with reading. Watching her experience the first novel that kept her up all night and then the joy of discussing it with someone who really understands that feeling. Now, I can't say I agree with the reading choices because they are all novels I have avoided and will continue to avoid. Maybe it's just me, but if I was going to recommend a novel, it would be something that was a little more readable and maybe a little happier than Ben's choices. Regardless, it was still fun to watch Hannah, the consummate science geek really fall in love with fiction.

This novel had a great readable quality. I had a difficult time putting it down and finished it rather quickly. The writing was on par with other new adult romances I've read, with just the right level of smut. It is smart and funny and captivating.

Despite how much I enjoyed it, I did have a few issues. It has a lot of drama! The older I get, the less tolerant I become needless drama. Ben's reasoning for wanting someone else were just ridiculous. That's not going anywhere and you are leading Hannah on. BUT, on that same note, you aren't leading Hannah on enough for the blow-up that occurs. I mean, I get where she was coming from, but really? You guys haven't even went on a date! It ended up working out in the end, but I kinda wanted to shake both of them at one point or another. I get that they are college students, but can we get a bit of maturity here? I was more matured and level-headed than that in high school!

The ending pulls together a bit too quickly for my liking, but it's satisfying so I won't pick it apart. Basically, this was an enjoyable contemporary new adult romance. If that's your kinda thing, then you'll like this. If you aren't a romance fan, well this obviously isn't something you'd want to pick up, though it might surprise you!

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/09...

This Book Will Change Your Life is a bibliophile’s dream romance. Hannah and Ben are two endearing college students brought together by chance and who end up finding a connection through the magic of books. Their ensuing romance is bright, sweet, and so full of hope and promise that I wanted to read their story again immediately upon finishing it.

Hannah is a freshman who thought she had her life planned out. But when she fails her first chemistry test, she begins to question everything. When seeking shelter from a sudden downpour in a small bookstore, Hannah runs into Ben, a college senior whose clear love and enthusiasm for books changes Hannah’s world. Ben is shocked that Hannah doesn’t read for fun, and so he sets out to find a book that will change her life forever. And it does. The first book leads to the second, then the third, then more. Hannah suddenly finds her world expanded…and her heart in jeopardy. She and Ben become fast friends when they talk about the books he picks out for her, but she soon finds herself falling for him. The only problem is, Ben also has a life mapped out for him, one that includes a career he doesn’t want, and a different girl, one who’s suited to the life his father wants him to have. It isn’t easy for either Hannah or Ben to break free of their parents’ expectations – or their own ideas of how their futures should be. As for whether or not the books they read and talk about together change their lives…well, that’s something I’ll leave for readers to find out.

In Hannah and Ben, author Amanda Weaver has created two intelligent, interesting, vibrant characters who will grab your heart from the very beginning and not let go. It’s easy to adore them, to root for them, and the pages of This Book Will Change Your Life fly by because Ben and Hannah’s chemistry is electric and they themselves will charm the heck out of you. As any book lover knows, happily ever afters aren’t easy, but there’s no doubt you’ll be avidly turning the pages of Ben and Hannah’s story, wanting to see these two overcome the obstacles in their path.

I cannot express how much I loved This Book Will Change Your Life . Ms. Weaver’s love of books shines clearly through every page of the story, automatically drawing in anyone who loves to read. When you add that to a simply lovely romance between two incredibly appealing characters, it’s impossible not to love this book. This Book Will Change Your Life is a sweetly romantic read you won’t want to miss!

received in exchange for a honest review. This is a cute cute romance.

Ben is this awkward guy who has a love for books and this is what he wants to get lost in-the emotions, thoughts, concepts of books. He wants to immerse himself in what they bring to him. He wants to express this love to others and have them show him what they see in the book. He wants others to see what literature can bring to them. But his family is against this. They feel this is a pipe dream. So he swallows his love and goes the path of least resistance. He crushes on the girl his parents would approve of so he can feel numb. He is a sweet, kind shy guy who just is lost. Lost in the expectations of the moments his family creates for him. Than comes the one girl who is feeling similar to him. A girl who doesn’t read but has the world opened to her by Ben showing her what books bring to the table. A girl who doesn’t want to disappoint her dad but isn’t sure if her life goal is the same anymore. Hannah is a smart sweet girl and she is lost. Lost in the world of chemistry and wanting to change the world and follow her parents footsteps. But one day she meets a boy- a wide eyed boy who showed her a new world. A world of books and who he was. This changes her and excites her. She no longer feels the same about the world she is living in. The world where chemistry is what she wants.

As they go on in the world of books they find each other. Their thoughts, feelings and beliefs. What makes them them. What they love and what they truly want and love. they become friends but deny they feel more. As the feelings grow so does their trust in one another. Ben does do some stupid things but only because of fear. Fear of losing everything. When he realizes this, he changes. He goes with his feelings. And they are good together. Their story is cute. It shows us how life expectations wear on us but when we let someone in we can find the strength to become free. Free of expectations and of what others want. We can just become who we are meant to be. Ben and Hannah find a anchor and support system with each other. they become friends and fall in love. they help each other through difficult situations with patience, kindness and love.

This is a fun sweet cute story that has likeable characters who warm your heart as you read about them finding courage to stand up for their dreams and find love with each other.

When I lived in NYC I loved visiting the old, private owned bookstores. There’s a charm to those. The smells, the care each title receives, the little nooks only the owners and employees know, the personal touch. Don’t get me wrong, Barnes & Noble is one of the chains I still enjoy and basically drown in, but still – there’s nothing like the old niche stores. A store just like those is the setting for this romance.

Ben works in such a store. He knows it upside down, he loves it, he’s passionate about it. Ben is this nerdy, bookish twenty something young man who’s striving to please his own desires but to appease his family. You will never guess to his background just by looking at him.

Hannah is the exact opposite. She’s known what she wanted to do her whole life, and has been working towards it. She’s loved and it shows, she’s driven and she is, in a way, a conformist. And then she stumbles into Ben’s bookstore.

Hannah falling for Ben is plain and obvious from the very beginning. Weaver wrote her fascination with him and the way she reacts to his passion for books. Ben’s reactions to Hannah are very mixed and it carries clear throughout the pages of the story. He’s interested in her in a way that reminded me of trying to solve a puzzle, working the way straight to the solution and still not seeing it when it pretty much slaps you in the face.

But when Ben falls, he FALLS! And the buildup to their relationship is the sweetest, most subtly erotic thing. It’s innocent and borderline mischievous, and I loved every word.

As Ben and Hannah are falling in love, their futures are falling apart. And dealing with the repercussions is proving to be challenging for them both, but in totally different ways.

I can’t say the plot isn’t predictable, and the story is not the most original thing in the world. But the beauty of this story is Weaver taking it and creating it around a special setting, with special circumstances, with the best supporting characters.

Reading a friend’s story is always something you might not want to do – but I’m 100000% happy that I’ve read this one, and I can’t wait for more from Amanda.

It’s always such an amazing moment when you find a New Adult author whose books aren’t full of misogyny and guys punching each other. This was one of the best contemporary romances I’ve read in… well, in forever, and it featured two lovely, sweet, likeable and intelligent characters, along with a bunch of lovely, sweet, likeable and intelligent secondary characters.

Our heroine, escaping bad weather, stumbles into a second-hand bookshop one day, and there she meets our hero. She has been so focused on science she never read, and books are his passion. The relationship that follows develops believably, and both are such genuinely likeable people that it’s easy to believe in them together. And hey – hero with glasses!

The story is really well-balanced, with both hero and heroine dealing with and overcoming their own issues, beyond the relationship. I also liked that our heroine is never taken seriously because of the way she looks, and how she also overcomes that.

There is no misogyny in this book. None. It is sad that that is something that needs pointing out, but it puts This Book Will Change Your Life into a very small group of books in this genre I can actually say that about! Not even the romantic rival is made out to be a bad person, and the heroine has good female friends rather than the author pitting all the young women against each other, like most in this genre do.

It’s not only refreshing, but these people reminded me much more of my university days than any of the melodramatic garbage that has been popular for a few years.

Honestly, this is just one of those books you can’t dislike. It portrays young adults the way things really are, it features characters you can relate to, and you will be really cheering hero and heroine on for their happy ever after. Definitely recommended.

I received an ARC of this ebook from Net Galley.

This was a really quick, fun read. Not much substance, but that's okay. Its a nice refresher from long, complex books. Mostly, this could be a YA book, until the sex scenes. Which are pretty mild, but I would hate to think of a young teen reading this book.

The premise of the book is a college freshman, Hannah, and college senior, Ben who meet by chance and fall in love. Both who have started their college careers but finding they want a change, but are afraid of telling their parents. Hannah knows her father will support her, but is afraid of disappointing her and her deceased mother. Ben, on the other hand, has an overbearing, controlling father who already doesn't like his major, and wants Ben to head down a career path he has no desire for, but is doing it because it's what's "right".

There is sexual tension between Hannah and Ben, that they won't admit to each other. And as most relationships go, there is a bit of uncertainty about the other person and their actions. At first I found Hannah to be irritatingly naive, a theme she also feels that Ben is viewing her as, but she brings up strong values of questioning Ben's motives and how that affects her and their relationship. As the story moves on, Hannah's strength is shown, and I like her more and more.

Beyond the romance of this book, I find that college students, or even high schoolers, and adults alike, could gain a boost of confidence to change their life path. I identify clearly with Ben and Hannah's, mostly Hannah, difficulty in owning their future because of disappointing others. I found myself in the same situation as Hannah when I was in my freshman year of college.

"I glance at the titles. What's in each one that he's considering? They all means so much to him. These books suddenly seem like windows to alternate universes, places he's been to and remembers. Places I want to go"

“Glasses? Lord, cute boys in glasses are my kryptonite.”

This Book Will Change Your Life is my first book by Amanda Weaver and was a fun and light read in the New Adult genre. Hannah is a college freshman on the path to be a great chemist like her dad but when a rainstorm has her dating into a used bookstore she has no clue that that moment and the boy she meets, Ben, will alter the path of her future.

Ben is a senior in college and always has been a lover of books and when a drenched Hannah enters the store he works at it is clear that she is no reader. When she asks him for a recommendation on where to start reading a friendship is formed while Hannah slowly falls in love with books and the stories and characters within.

“This is the best sex I’ve ever had, and we’re not even having it yet.”

I fell in love with both Hannah and Ben from the start of this book and by the end was in love with them again but I honestly struggled with them in the middle. At times I found them quite repetitive in attempting to get past their struggles (or in actuality avoid their struggles) and would have loved to see them communicate better. While Hannah acted like a normal eighteen year old girl I still had a hard time with her jumping to conclusions and running from Ben whenever an issue arises. Ben was sweet but slow to get on the Hannah train but once he was I loved him. He didn’t always make the best decisions but the amount of pressure put on him would make anyone waiver.

Overall the book was an enjoyable standalone new adult read that was told from dual povs. I read the story straight through and never felt like I was forcing myself to continue. If you enjoy fast low ansgt reads with characters who have a passion for books that translates to every page than this is a book for you.

DISCLAIMER: I requested an e-ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Characters/Plot: Hannah is a chem major in college, and Ben just happens to be the one to recommend one of the best books to her when she gets caught in the rain at the bookstore he works in. The two click from the start, which adds to the feels. Ben can be himself around Hannah, and vice versa. Ben's passion for the books he reads! He's so cool! Perfect match for Hannah, and they did not even know it at the start. They just feel comfortable around each other. And then everything just . . . explodes. Briefly. Or not so brief. Such a great plot and everything just went along perfectly.

My Honest Opinions/Thoughts: Bookstore Boy.This book hit home within the first few chapters. I love that Ben is a bookworm *heart skips a beat* He has to be the COOLEST character I have ever read. Quite frankly, this book is amazing and I would recommend it to all bookish girls (and guys) who like this kind of story. The title recommends itself. This Book Will Change Your Life.

Must be my week to read books with geeky heroes and I am absolutely loving them! Ben is adorable and his enthusiasm for all things books is endearing. He knows what he would like to do with his life but family pressure has him going in a different direction. He's perfect for Hannah though! She's a strong young woman who hasn't quite figured out what her place is in the world. She thought she knew what she wanted, but now that she is away in college and experiencing new things, she's questioning her life plan. These two characters are great together and make this a fantastic read! I highly recommend it to everyone.

I don't actually know whether I'm the only one with this quirk or not, but I have to say that this book was too short for me to really start caring about the characters. I want more depth. More character development. More info about the slowburn than a month passed, second month passed. I need more! All in all, I hope that others will enjoy this book despite the fact that it's so short. :)

I absolutely adore Hannah and Ben, cutest couple ever! And whats more they meet at a book store and climax of the story also happens at a book store, simply awesome. For a book lover this one is surely a treat. Other characters are also good. Overall book is interesting and very enjoyable.
Writing style and dialogues are also very engaging. I can't remember the last time I highlighted a book this much. Its a must read for all avid readers no matter what genre you prefer.

I found this to be a sweet story about two college people, who find a bond over books. It's sweet how they meet, and the bond. It's nice for a book lover to read about two peoples bonding over books. At times the story was somewhat predictable(but what romance novel isn't). Overall I thought this book to be a sweet story.

I received this book from a goodreads first reads giveaway.
