Hailey Harris is a beautiful, young waitress who says she is being stalked, but the police can find no evidence of her claims. She makes an appeal to a long-time customer and sheriff of a neighboring small town, Carter Fagan, to help her. But when Fagan also comes up empty, he asks Ella Reynolds to take a look at the case. Ella jumps at the chance to help Hailey, remembering exactly what it was like to have no one believe her. But the more layers of Hailey’s story she peels away, the less it makes sense, and the greater at risk they both become. Hailey Harris has many secrets. Secrets someone would kill to keep.
Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more.
When Liz isn't writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.
I've loved the series so far and this is a good thing because I was tempted to give up because of the lack of proof reading in the first few chapters. The flow of reading went when I had to keep rereading sentences to work out the missing or wrong word. Maybe this was just with the kindle version though. This issue lost made me go with 4 not 5 stars. The story kept my interest going and I love the characters of Ella, Gabriel and Fraser. The supernatural element adds another layer and its gradual development is intriguing. I did guess the culprit but confess I also had a backup of who it might be. A good plot and I'm looking forward to book 4.
Right off the bat I have to say that this particular book in this series needs serious editing. Can't stand typo errors and such. She's such a great writer I'm not sure how this got away from her. Anyways. I love this writers imagination and sense of humor. If you love ghost stories and mysteries then this series is up your alley.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
Ella's talent for attracting ghosts is heating up, and murder surrounds her in this one. I rather like the directions that Ella is moving towards in this book. The mystery is more complex and hard to figure out though the clues are there. Good writing as always by Liz Schulte...
Ella Reynolds is investigating once again, thanks to Carter Fagan. Yet, Ella still has not learned tact and diplomacy. Nor can she see the killer who is about to take her down. It's an interesting story of lies, deception and greed, with the added bonus of making her enemies cringe.
Disappointed in this story. Was not as good as the first two books of the series, and the story got a little boring. Several typographical errors in the print, which should have been corrected by the editor.
I sincerely wish this author had a decent editor. The errors in this book were annoying and distracting. Without the frequent grammatical errors, I would've given a 4 star rating. It was an entertaining read. I thoroughly enjoy the characters - especially Ella. I love her wit and sense of humor.
I want more please Liz! I pretty much inhale books and seldom fall in love like this. Great characters interesting plot with a little love story thrown in. Read it!
