California is the Golden State. Home to over 1.8 million inhabitants, an area rich with culture. Globally known as one of the places to visit when you’re in the States, with beautiful cities and landmarks, impressive highways and beaches, and even the locals being mostly good looking and friendly.
Such a place seems like the perfect place to be… Unless you count the dozens of serial killers who have the state their home. In “Serial Killers in California” we will cover the stories of five of the biggest serial killers to have lived in the Golden State, who made it not only their home, but their hunting ground, living a life of death and darkness.
We hope you enjoy the book, and that it doesn’t put you off visiting the beautiful state of California.
The FBI has a definition for Serial Killers. I think only two of the persons described in the book fit that definition.
There are 2 serial killers, 1 family annihilator / mass murderer , 1 gang killer / spree killer, and Charles Manson who is a spree killer mastermind.
The opening line of the book says "California, the Golden State. Home to over 1.8 million inhabitants" Technically the author is not incorrect certainly over 1.8 million people do live in CA. The US Census reports 38.8 million (2014). Which is 37 million more. This innocuous statement echoed through my brain throughout my reading. Making me think why the intentional understatement? What other facts did he get wrong?
The stories are interesting, which is why books about serial killers sell. Unfortunately, this book was poorly written, with lots of typos and grammatical errors. The subjects were presented with little or no new information, making it just a compilation of what can be easily found by perusing the internet. If the book was better written, it could have been a basic source for those of us seeking to learn why these monsters do what they do. Instead, it fell short. The author is well intentioned, however, so I can only recommend a good editor, which could help a lot.
