The Third Edition of Terrorism in Perspective, like its two successful predecessors, takes a broad-based approach that emphasizes the historical, cultural, political, religious, social, and economic factors that underlie an understanding of both global and domestic terrorism. This unique text-reader combines original essays with the best of the existing literature on terrorism. Each chapter of this text begins with an overview essay written by the authors, followed by two relevant and engaging articles culled from a wide variety of popular, academic, and governmental sources. This is the only major terrorism text to incorporate readings from top terrorism experts into a traditional textbook format, allowing readers to deepen their understanding of each aspect of terrorism.
Sue Mahan is a Criminologist, highly recognized for her scholarly works about violence. She used her research to bring this true story to life. Yummy's story is "real fiction" taken from newspapers and magazine articles. The characters were gleaned from the author's imagination and her years of researching crime and criminals. She is the author of several text books and numerous articles published in professional journals. In her travels throughout the hemisphere, she provides training to prevent domestic violence. She also teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in the Criminal Justice Department at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Mahan developed a curriculum for nonviolent parenting skills called Parenting Alternatives. It is being taught in community centers, lock ups and clinics in the U. S. , Brazil, and Colombia. She teaches a parenting class for delinquents at the county detention center weekly in her ongoing fight to prevent Yummy's story from ever happening again.
