The Serpent and the Savior is Dave and Cheryl Bryan’s dramatic and controversial eye-witness account of one woman’s rescue from the macabre maze of Satanic Ritual Abuse and the Crowleyan “Rituals of Defilement” into "the glorious liberty of the children of God!” (Romans 8:21). Although rigorously denied by the spokes people of the Church of Satan, it gives the only available account of the bizarre and mind-bending events that led up to the death of Anton LeVay, the "Black Pope” who authored The Satanic Bible and was the founder and High Priest of The Church of Satan! Anton’s unexpected demise on Halloween Eve of 1997 during "a spiritual show-down” between occult adepts is the spiritual equivalent of Earp brothers legendary shoot-out with the notorious outlaws at the OK Coral in Tombstone, Arizona many years ago. This sensational and over-whelming victory of a small band of praying Christians stands as an epic testimony to the triumph of The Spirit of God over all the spirits of darkness, of good over evil and of The Church of Jesus Christ over The Church of Satan! As Jesus Himself prophesied 2000 years ago, He is building His Church, and the gates of Hell are crumbling before her! (Matt. 16:18-19).
Amazing book! I read it in one sitting the day after I moved to Yuba City city to attend Pastor Dave's Church. I didn't know what I was getting into. In the years I've lived here, I have come to know Pastor Dave as an amazing warrior and man of God. I've met the people involved in this story and it's all true. It reads like a Hollywood movie. Quite the page turner. Spiritual warfare is real and Christians would be well-served to read this book and learn about how to fight.
Knowing the author personally, and the events that took place, I was anxious to read the accounts, once again. This book is a must read for anyone involved in ministry today to understand the "warfare" that we face, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. Great book and very trusted author who I'm happy to say, I'd ride in his band of "mighty warriors" anytime!
I am blown away and in aww of how good our God is. I heard about this pastor in this book on the blurry creatures podcast, and I had to read it. Thank you for sharing this testimony of Deborah Joy, and how amazing and powerful God truly is!
I recently read Pastor Dave Bryan’s book, "The Serpent and The Savior," and I have to say that it was an absolutely incredible read. The book is the true story of Pastor Bryan and his family’s intervention in the life of Anton Lavey’s daughter, who was targeted to be sacrificed to Satan on Halloween in 1997. The way that Pastor Bryan and his family were able to care for and deliver Rey Rey Lavey (now Deborah Joy Bryan) from demons was truly inspiring.
What I found most impressive about this book was the depth of knowledge that Pastor Bryan has about delivering people who have experienced occult-level and satanic ritual abuse. His trial by fire experience with Deborah Joy Bryan is a testament to his unwavering faith and his ability to overcome the most challenging obstacles. The book was a gripping page-turner from start to finish, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the subject matter. Overall, I feel truly blessed to have read this book and to have gained insight into the powerful and transformative work that Pastor Bryan and his family have done.
We are all wired for the supernatural, so while the Western church has been sitting around talking about the miracles of the past but denying its power today, Satan has been promising his followers the experience of the most destructive supernatural kind.
This reads like Hollywood. It is the true story of good and evil, and the love of God prevails.
Wake up, Church! The Bible says not to be ignorant of the enemy's schemes...this is a great place to start. Be a conqueror, and not a beaten-up and defeated child of God!
Great testimony, was amazed how David El-Cana Bryan defeated The Black Pope (Anton's LaVey) Anton's LaVey final words are a shock, I recommend this book because you see clearly that their isn't a job to hard for God's kingdom against the enemy. Though I must warn you, the book is a bit slow and David gets a bit off topic some chapters before getting to the point of the spiritual battle at the end (which leads to the death of Anton)
Last chapter was my favorite, but it does take a while to build up the suspense but the end is worth it (in my opinion)
**Fun Fact: Dark Lord Voldemort (from Harry Potter) is highly likely to be inspired by the Black Pope
Believers have not been taught the truths about spiritual warfare. We touch on the basics aka the armor of God (which is extremely important) but we need to to deeper. To fight your enemy, you must understand his tactics. This is a great book to understand more of what is going on in the spiritual battles. I highly recommend!
The first chapter provides the cautionary warning that was not heeded by the husband and wife duo of David and Cheryl Bryan who pastor a small church. This chapter sets up the wild and dangerous spiritual battle against dark occult powers that came against their church, The Church of Good Tidings in Yuba City, California. The author, David El-Cana Bryan is honest about his initial aloof and naive (quasi-Cessionalist) attitude toward the occult. This serves as the weak area of spiritual armor which the devil would attack when a mysterious woman, Ramona came to them in mortal terror. The next chapter lays out where the evil seed from which the malevolence grew. The connection to the infamous and nefarious Anton LaVey and The Church of Satan fleshes out the threats and paranormal attack against the couple and their church. The meat of the book is the battle that took place on Halloween night in 1997. Pastor Bryan relays the lessons learned about possession, the opened doors to demonic influence, legalistic claims to a soul, and the love and support they had in their battle for the soul and peace of Ramona (aka Rye-Rey). The tale is sojourn of faith and spiritual warfare.
The book itself was a well-told recounting of the events in 1997. The author does use some dark humor which is unwieldly at times but it is effective. His honesty and forthright narrative is refreshing and marks this as a personal account of spiritual warfare ministry. I recommend this lurid but honest book to those involved in this ministry.
