Triad marriage!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚❤️💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍
Character development: 😉☺️😟😤🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Lyndsey - after most of the men on earth died in a global pandemic, and it was found that over 90% of other planets that had sentient life, had males that were compatible with humans, many even looked very much like human males. Lyndsey was only too happy when she was chosen for the off-world singles program. She chose a planet where each woman was paired with two men.

The Heroes: Baruk and Zadal - they were senator leaders on their home planet, and they were focused on their careers, so they wanted to get married for business reasons. They would get further if they were seen as family men, and so they entered the SP choosing and were happy to be chosen. They figured they would treat their woman great, and she would make them look even better.

The Story: Lyndsey was overjoyed with the circumstances she found herself in with two hot and sexy men who treated her like a queen. She wanted to do something for them in return, so she went to the market and was abducted by Meranian slave traders. She was held with her friend Faye for a while and thought they were abused at least they were together, and Fae was sure that her Jutak warrior would rescue them both. However, she was sold as a slave before that could happen.

I liked the fact that the storylines differed in each of the books of this series so far, yet they were similar in ways. Each of the Heroes are from different planets, backgrounds and different alien races, though they look very similar to humans (though that does seem quite unlikely). In this one, both heroes are senators, but Baruk is kind of snobbish, while Zadal has a lower-class background and a mother who is a sex worker. The two argued on the senate floor all the time and the last thing either of them thought was that they would end up in a triad marriage together.

So much happened in this book with the marriage, Lindsey being treated badly by the people that worked with her men and their wives, then later getting kidnapped and sold. The two senators ended up having to work together to get her back. All the time, worried about what was happening to her. The guys were both quite a bit uptight at the start of the book but became much more likable as the book went on and Lindsey was a bright and sunny character.

There were also some big surprises in this book in the ongoing story about the Meranian outlaw Lothar and we learned more about who he is and about his son Nikhal who hates his father more than anything and tries to protect his siblings while his father is cruel and cares for nobody but himself.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via Duet narration. It was narrated by Ian James and Jennifer Ann. These are different narrators than in the last book, and I don’t think that I have heard either of them before. Ian James’ voice wasn’t one of my favorites for a male narrator, because I like a deeper male voice, especially for alien romance whose Heroes are always extremely tall and muscular. His voice just didn’t quite fit.

I was surprised when the first chapter came on and it was in Lynsey’s POV but narrated by a male narrator. They when she spoke, her voice was a female voice. I didn’t notice if the last book was done that way as well. Jennifer’s voice isn’t my favorite either but isn’t bad, I just didn’t like the high voice she used for Lindsey at first, but it grew on me and matched her character.

Torkel, Arak, and Rydak's stories were all really enjoyable; this one, not so much. Enjoyable in the sense that perhaps it was too short and I didn't truly feel a relationship was developed. There wasn't anything outright dislikeable about the characters. Lindsey was an interesting one... she sure enjoyed skipping around. I don't know her age, but I admire any adult who un-ironically skips to get around. Great cardio I guess.

I think I would have enjoyed this more if it were longer, but I just didn't feel this one.

Lindsey the beautiful Earth chick and Baruk the wealthy politician and Zadal the not so wealthy politician.
I am so tired of menage. But I did like this one, because all three characters were interesting as individuals and their dynamic together.
The story starts where Faith (from book 1) and Lindsey meet on their way from Earth. (Faith was just as much a wet blanket in this one as in her own book).
Lindsey pays a lot of money to escape Earth and marry aliens in the hopes of having a loving family. When she gets to Gerlaxion, she finds herself at a disadvantage as so often happens to immigrants. Even though she is pretty and sweet, she is the outsider. The three of them end up together almost by accident. Lindsey is bubbly and upbeat always, while Zadal gruff and austere. He has a huge chip on his shoulder from being born out of wedlock to a prostitute. Baruk is the complete opposite, coming from a wealthy family who loves him. Both he and Zadal are Senators.
The story starts out kind of clunky but after they all get together it flows better. The last quarter is devoted to what happens to Lindsey after she is abducted (as mentioned in the first book). It was humorous in parts but didn't really add to the story overall and went on too long imho.
But overall I liked the story more than I thought I would even though parts were glossed over. It felt like the author was feeling kinda lazy when she wrote the plot to this one. I would have rather read more about their getting to know each other.

I love Happily ever afters. Don't care if it's male/male or female/male. As long as it's two! I only read menage if it's in a series and it helps to advance the story. Not a fan. What a nice surprise! I really enjoy this and I thought the story between Baruk; Zadal and Lindsey was funny and sweet. I would recommend this, even to others that feel the same.

I'm surprised at all the glowing reviews of this book. I found it to be stilted and very poorly written. The heroine is comically silly, and not in a good way. Yeah, it's a ménage book, but dude, there are so much better ménage books out there to spend your reading time on!

Lindsey Ferra goes into the whole Earth’s Singles Program with open eyes. She knows what she wants and knows what planet she'll find it on. Planet Gerulax marriage units are Triads of two males and one female. No brainer decision there.

Senate Leaders Baruk Laars and Zadal Gatar want Lindsey as their Triad bride but would have to agree to be spouse partners to have that happen. Being strong opponents in the Senate would make that unlikely except that Lindsey is worth doing just that.

The three will have to come together mentally and physically as outside forces will make it hard to stay together if they're not. Some will be more determined to force the Earther female leave by any means possible.

I've been looking forward to this installment in the A World Beyond series ever since I finished Torkel's Chosen which left Lindsey's fate dangling. Totally happy the author resolved that little problem....

The story line and cast of characters were well developed and made the world building a believable concept. I continue to have a problem with the core premise regarding the monetary fee required for the women but it wasn't a major component in the story so it is what it is and that's fine. I would really suggest that this not be read as a stand alone for the simple fact that portions of this story do cross over into events from Torkel's Chosen which would be lost if this was the first book in series you read.

The adult content scenes are of the menage m-f-m persuasion. I appreciate the author's risk to go for the menage as it is much more difficult to coordinate than people realize. Unfortunately the scenes did had a forced quality between the three instead of an organic natural flow. I would have liked to have seen more integration between the three or even a better visual of any voyeuristic enjoyment of the passive character.

As for the secondary cast of characters. Many of the characters from previous installments make an appearance and some new character pop up. Of course I can't leave out my new favorite side kick Smiki. I do expect him to return along with maybe Daphne, Courtney, Jolie, and others. :D

My issues have to do with the lack of follow through and follow up on details. Unfortunately mentioning some of the more problematic ones would be spoilers so I won't.

While this series isn't on a five star scale for me, I'm still a fan. For those looking for a feel good SFR with a touch of suspenseful twists and turns this would be one to check out. If for no other reason than to find out if owning a pet paxal might be in your future.

I think this is one of those stories that are "It's not the author, it's me" type thing. I am of an age that I remember when women were considered less than men, in all things, and it was considered quite normal at the time. So having seen how hard women fought just to be accepted as having the same brain capacity as male's I'm not ok with going backwards in the future, not even in my reading matter.
The h was so nice and sweet and to be really blunt, dumb as a post. The men in her life treated her like a dumb pet they slept with. She had her uses, did what she was told and they occasionally patted her on the head and gave her a bit of attention, but even that was mostly for sex. She didn't even have enough backbone in her to demand medical attention when she was ill.... really?? How is that supposed to be a good thing.
When writing or reading a romance I always ask myself three questions.... would I want my daughter to act like this? Would I want my daughter to be treated like this? Would I be proud to have raised a woman to be like this?
And my answer to those questions in this story is a resounding NO!

I was really excited to finally see if Lindsey ended up married to her 2 hunky men that she was hoping to in Faye's book.

One thing I really loved about this book was that each person had their own securities that they needed each other to help get over.
Lindsey isn't a master at seduction. She trips over her tongue and spaces out making the men seem like she's not interested during the Marriage Ceremony.
Senate Leader Baruk Laars goes to the ceremony to find him a triad, but he doesn't expose the fact that he is from one of the richest families on the planet. He wants a woman who doesn't care about what he can give her with his money, but with his love.
Senate Leader Zadal Gatar is abrasive and rough. He makes no apologies for how he is, everyone judges him anyways because his mother was a sex worker. He's worked hard to be where he is and is mainly looking for a triad to help improve his status. What he didn't expect was a bubbly human to break his walls down.

I think the only thing that I didn't like about this book was the end felt a bit rushed to me. During the entire time Lindsey was gone not once did Baruk or Zadal think to look at the people who have recently caused them problems or expressed hate towards their wife like Zadar's ex-first assistant or the other grabby senate leader. What happened to him? He just disappeared?!?

Just finished this. I've been waiting for Lindey's stories and her two husbands since she was mentioned in Torkel's chosen.

Holy Cats. Her two husbands are beyond HAWT, and go right into smokin' magma HOT! Her befriending the "ducks" was hilarious and her running off with Smiki was too cute to shoot.

I felt the end was rushed a little. I think it's because I wanted, so badly, for Zadal to be able to lay the smack down on his snotty assistant. I guess I feel like Lindsey didn't get closure because she wasn't able to face the people responsible for her kidnapping and be able to see some vengeance.

We get to see snatches of Faye but we already know what went on there and what it took for Torkel to fully understand what she went through for him. It was somewhat of a relief that Lindsey was not totally alone in her prison, but when she got sick, I got a lot worried.

This is a great continuation of this story line. I can't wait to see what she had up next.

Lindsey's Rescue is a great first attempt at menange by Michelle Howard. Honestly, the relationship between Lindsey, Baruk and Zadal didn't feel organic and the sex scenes felt stilted but the talent Ms Howard has for storytelling made up for it.

By far Lindsey is the best heroine of the series. She isn't without her flaws, but she seemed better fleshed out and relatable than Faye and Sylvia. Unfortunately the heroes lucked out and fell short of being potentially amazing. I'm a sucker for the dark brooding types and felt that Zadal wasn't explored deeply enough. Even Baruk's character fell short of his potential.

Despite this, I enjoyed Lindsey's Rescue immensely and can't wait for Kyele's story!

I have to say that I really enjoyed Lindsey's story. I did have to wait until the last 25% of the book to get to the 'Rescue' part of Lindsey's Rescue but when it came I did enjoy her adventure. I have the fact that in this book class played such a big part. I guess no matter what year it is if you are not born in the top 1% you still are looked upon as being shit. But I cannot wait until Kyele's Passion comes out on Audiobook.

I have been enjoying all the books in this series but was a little worried about how dark this book would get has Lindsey had been in the hands of the slavers through out the other books.

We get the romance before she is taken and the contrast of the two heroes to her sunny personality is lovely. The falling in love with each hero and they with her is charming journey. The heroes do not have a sexual relationship but there is a nice adversary to friends to family arc here.

Lindsey shows grit in her captivity and the cast of characters widens and is a great deal of fun.

The who done it part could be better and more satisfying and the delay in the return a bit vexing but overall this is a good science fiction romance with fine world build, love story, and characters.

I didn't read the first two books in the series. But I have to say, I like the world Michelle has built. Even coming in midway, you don't feel lost or confused. Kudos for that!

I think Lindsey was a really delightful character. She's cheerful and positive all the time and she's really good for Zadal.

I like the pace of the story. There was no insta-love or even insta-lust. Other than Lindsey's initial attraction to Baruk, they had a reasonable amount of time to build up a proper attraction. There were even some doubt along the way.

I enjoyed this story the most so far, I just thought the ending was too abrupt and again too many things with the relationship feeling unresolved. I know it is a ploy to get you to want the next book, but I am getting fed up with every relationship feeling lacking at the end and gipped when it moves on with another couple and we only get scraps of their future. I think the books should be longer and resolve the couples/menage futures better before moving on.

This one is my favorite. It doesn't have anything to do with the menage and everything to do with the characters. I really enjoyed the development of their relationship, it was a slow paced love at first sight, if such a thing exists! I loved Z, specially because it brought back memories of my favorite Z ever. I loved the dedication of the heros and how dedicated they are to their female. also I really enjoyed that this book is not all on board of torture and horrors for the captured heroine.

I'll try to start off with some good points. We finally find out what happened to Lindsey! (About time)
Story wise, the last 1/4 off the book was OK(ish) and everything was wrapped up nicely. Smikey was probably my favourite.

So.... the rest of the book was boring. Yes there was smut but having a smex sence that calls a women downstairs 'her wet tissue' just reminds me of when you find a bit of tissue paper down there lmfao. It's soo off putting.
Lindsey is very much a sunshine person with no actual substance to her character.
The men ( I've already forgot there names and finished the book 5 minutes ago).
Lindsey activatly goes to a different planet to marry 2 men ( sounds promising).
She gets married and then never leaves the house , doesn't build a relationship with anyone including her husbands.we get no idea of what the new planet is like because she left the house maybe once. All we know is she likes dresses, she literally doesn't do anything.
The men spend all the time in there office other than the smex which comes across that it's maybe a once a week occurance or the occasional romp in the office.there isn't any relationship building and literaly seems like she is used as an occasional smex toy(and not in a good BDSM way).
The time she does leave the house, we don't know what the vehicle is like, what the shop we visit is like , the weather ? there isn't anything, no world building.
Then she gets kidnapped and we link up with a character from a previous book, but this is 3/4 into the nothingingness of the book. if we took out a good 1/4 of the book we would still get the same story and I wouldn't be that annoyed I've spent my time reading it.
The last bit of the book was enjoyable-after the kidnapping and if you've read my previous reviews you will see I expected to be disappointed but I wanted to know what happened to lindsey. If I had know she was such a wet lettuce of a character I don't think I would have cared.
After believing she had been betrayed so started to have a little more substance to her, but I think that was due to smikey. Also she way too trusting and believes everything at the drop of a hat.
I hate leaving bad reviews and always want to put some creative criticism if necessary but other than cutting out a good 1/4 of the book, giving the characters some actual character, world building, relationship building I feel like there isn't much of the book left. Well at least smikey was great.

“Kick rocks!” (163/291)

Nevo Xyman (222-223/266), “The man standing behind them grinned. He was handsome. And human. Dark hair fell carelessly over his brow, friendly green eyes glinted with humor[,] and full lips curved up in a half smile.”

So the paxels were cool. The three main characters had compelling personalities; very likable main heroine. But ... that’s about it. And overshadowing those few pluses was the problematic writing: WTF kind of editing job can’t distinguish “then” from “than”? Or keep straight the possessive vs plural apostrophe “s”? The writing problems ranged from those and other basics like the affected/effected distinction to the author’s odd but consistent use of “lessoned” for “lessened” and dozens - seriously, *dozens* - of other comparable fuckups that the author -or any decent editor - should’ve caught.

I confess I‘m more anal and unforgiving about that small stuff than are most readers. However, I do tolerate it if an author is creating a story and crafting writing that are otherwise worthwhile. Unfortunately my appetite for reading good alien smut will continue without consuming any more of this author’s work.

We first met Lindsey in the first book in the series and I was anxious to read her story. What a hectic few months she's had! Leaving Earth, getting married in a Triad, learning a new society, bad things happen (read the book - really good stuff), great new friends are made.

Lindsey seems quite simple at first but she is so inherently optimistic that she is easy to love. Her openness and sweetness win over almost all who meet her. The issues she has are mostly to do with other people and their problems or nasty personalities. I enjoyed seeing Lindsey grow some in her new role.

Zadal and Baruk were complete opposites of each other except for a couple of things - similar political positions and their interest in marrying Lindsey. I enjoyed seeing them grow in their relationship with Lindsey and each other.

All in all, a really great read.

Whilst Lindsey really rescued herself the first three quarters of this book is about the beginning of her life and relationship with Baruk and Zadal.
I can understand Lindsey believing Zadal had sold her, the plot has been very well done with a person in a position of trust betraying them.
I just found Lindsey and bit too soft, whilst it was lovely she was so endearing and upbeat, nobody should accept being manhandled and she should have used her knee to good effect on Pollan.
Loved the bit where Caris turns the tables on the spite mongers.
I loved this story and stayed up till 3am to finish it.
Not quite sure why Baruk entered into this triad but glad he did. Zadal I just wanted to hug due to his rotten mother. His negativity was understandable.

It's much better than the previous two books. There was more of an in depth getting to know the character build up. As far as Lindsey being the ditz that she is, I don't think I even mind it. There was more of Zadal than Baruk here- practically nothing.

Same as Torkel's Chosen, the rescue part was pretty much ridiculous and the ending pretty much rushed. It was tied up nicely but only for the hell of it. Finally there's the talk of the I've been waiting for it.

Could have been much better too.

I absolutely adore this series but for some reason, this was my least favorite book. It's not a typical plot and the writing is not bad at all, I just wasn't enthralled with any of the characters nor the unfolding of the plot that has been hinted to in the previous two books. It ends with a HEA and everything works out, but I felt bereft somewhere with the plot. I still read all of it and would happily recommend it to others, but for me it's not one I reread often.

This was a re-read.

I am an avid reader of lots of genres. I have started re-reading some that I remember well. I really love this series and in particular this book. While they are a lot of different characters throughout the series, you don’t learn about them really until their books. That allows for each book to be centered on the main characters and you get quite a bit of development on them. They are also quick, fun reads. Highly recommend.

I read the first book in the series and hated it, but we met Lindsey at the start of it and I liked her so I thought I'd give her book a try.

For the life of me, I will never understand why I can't seem to get into these books. I've read silly to the point of stupid before but this is just cringe.

Come on, all the marks are there they just need to be executed well but every time everything misses the mark.

This is so disappointing.

Usually I don't like the stories including menage, but despite the M/F/M I really enjoyed the book. The book is focusing on the love between the MCs and the different characters and not on the sex. Don't get me wrong there are plenty hot sex scenes. I really recommend to read the first two books in the series before as part of the story is already playing in the previous books.

Finally, we get a view of the friendly Lindsay. For this to be the author first menage book she did a great job developing the characters. Lindsey so nice but with a great back bone always looking for the wonder. Baruk and Sweep are in for a whirlwind...

I’m not one for ‘ménage’ storylines but took a chance and boy am I glad I did. This was very well written and you really got the sense of their deep love for one another, not to mention it was quite funny at times as well. Truly well done!
