The Prince is fast paced, action packed, and hard hitting! This one will keep you on the edge of your seat with unpredictable twists! For those who love short stories that feel like full length books, this one is for you!

I could not put this one down! For only being 110 pages, I felt like I read a 300+ paged book! This one had incredible world building and imagery. The writing was elegant, descriptive, and immersive! I felt like I was thrown in the middle of the fight, and the search for the Prince's love!

Prince Callum was quite interesting to read. He truly loved his significant other, Lorkan, and his people. He was strong, brave, and determined. He also had a bit of darkness and intrigue to him.

I enjoyed the world Torres created. It was modern, but held an old world charm, and a bit of magic. The story was very entertaining, and I did not see the plot twists coming at all. My only critiques for this one were that I would have liked to have "point of view" names at the beginning of the chapters, and I would have liked a touch more character development. Other than that, it was a fun, exciting read, and the "points of view" were not hard to figure out after a few sentences.

I think this was very well written. It had a little humor, lots of action, a little passion, and plenty of shocking moments. The writing style was descriptive and captivating, and the plot really hooked me. I cannot wait to read more from this author! I would rate it 4.5 stars.

Thank you to Black Chateau for providing me with this free copy in exchange for my honest review!

This was a super fun and fast read. It starts off with the action right away and doesn’t let up at all. The world was interesting, similar to ours in a way, but with magic tossed in here and there. It was nice to see the leads be a same sex couple and that the people of their world accept it as totally normal. I’m seriously looking forward to the next instalment as the ending left me hanging so hard!

Even the shortest books can have a huge story behind them. A good example of this is this book! At only a little more than 100 pages you wouldn't think that this book would have a huge story behind it. But this book is one of the best books I've read this year! The characters are very well developed for the story being so short, the plot is intriguing, and the writing is well done. The book also includes an lgbt relationship and the book is full of action and adventure! There's hardly any down spots in the book, but it doesn't feel sped up or off.

The only issues I found that bugged me were that I wanted more world building in the book and I think the book could have benefitted from heading up the chapters with who the narrators were. The book is wrote from 3 POVs and figuring out who was talking does take you out of the book for a bit.

Verdict: If you're looking for a quick read with tons of action in it I highly suggest this book! The story is great, the writing is good, and the characters are relatable. Hopefully there are more books in this series because I would definitely read more of them!

Audiobook Review:

This is quite the little gem. I loved everything about this book, the story, the performance, everything. It is hard to review this without giving spoilers. The description blurb really doesn’t do justice to the story. Yes, Cal and Lorkin (sp?) are an established couple and Lorkin is kidnapped by a group of religious zealots. But that is just a part of the bigger conflict to come. The story takes place in an AU that is contemporary (they have cars and cell phones) but also fantasy with villages and people with “super powers;” it is really awesome. Discovering the “oh sh*t” and “no he didn’t” moments are half the appeal of this story. It includes a number of POVs, including a really delicious Scottish brogue from the captain of the guard. I also love that this is not your traditional royal family, as the Queen is also a bad ass when called for; think crown with a machine gun. The final battle scene reminds me of an X-men or Avengers movie.

I wouldn’t classify this as a “romance” story, but an action adventure story with a romantic thread running throughout. Also, there is no sex in this story. I hope we get Cal and Lorkin’s back story at some point. I REALLY hope the Chronicles continue, preferably in audio with this narrator, but I would buy the e books as well. Also be warned, although this story is mostly resolved by the end and we get a HEA for the couple, Book 2 is previewed as a cliff hanger at the end. I can’t wait to read it and find out what is happening with the couple.

The narrator puts in a fantastic performance. I have listened to a few books by him and have never been disappointed with his performance. If this was designed to peak a reader’s interest and demand more, mission accomplished!

While I liked the nonstop action and the relationships, I feel this lacked a lot of backstory. I wasn't sure if we were in the future, on another planet, or what the deal was until the end. With no detailed backstory, I feel like I was thrown into the action. I definitely loved the story and the characters. I want to read more and that cliffhanger at the end has me a bit nervous! But, I am hoping the author adds some more flashbacks or a prequel or something to help us readers feel more present.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read and it was such an easy book to read.
I loved the story line and even though the book was short, I felt the characters were easy to get to know and very likable.
The only thing that was a little confusing to me was that there were 3 POVs, but nothing indicating which person was narrating at the beginning of the chapter so I just had to figure it out while I was reading.
The ending was such a cliffhanger, I need to find out what happens to Cal and Lorkan!

The Prince is an amazing story set in a contemporary alt-world and told through several perspectives. Combing action/adventure with a royal romance, The Prince does not disappoint!
Good for a rainy day curled up next to a fire.

Review of The Prince by Nanishka Torres.
Rating: 2.75/5⭐
·
The Prince was more like the idea of a book rather than an actual book in my opinion, as we can see the initial structure of a soon-to-be-book but nothing else.
·
SYNOPSIS:

Most people respect that decree.

The radically religious group known as Staxeons do not.

The world knows what Fenrir's prince is capable of.

·
The world building is confusing, and hints about it are spread throughout the book, rather than having a specific part (usually at the beginning) where the author lets us know: where we are, when the action is taking place, if there is any magic involved, I mean.. everything that you need to know.
·
The characters, on the other hand, were well developed for what concerns their behavior and, in general their persona.
Also, if you're looking for a LGBT plot based book, there you have it: this could be the book you were looking for!
