Former US Navy SEAL Frank Marshall has a lot of innocent blood on his hands.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, a ruthless London gangster has given immigration officer Roy Sullivan an ultimatum—take part in a criminal enterprise or watch his son and ex-wife suffer the consequences.
Now an impending global disaster is about to throw Frank and Roy together, a terrifying event planned by powerful elites that will decimate humanity and usher in a brutal one-world government. Together, Frank and Roy must join forces and stop the biggest crime in history…

Roy Sullivan is living a very mundane life. He works with the Border Agency at Heathrow airport, lives on a run down estate in a squalid little flat - and he’s separated from his wife Vicky, which means he barely sees his son Max - yes life is pretty poor for Roy right now.
Across the Atlantic, former US Navy Seal, Frank Marshall, is coming to terms with all the bad things he’s done in his life. He’s found God, and intends to put at least some of those things right. However, it will put him, and anyone he comes into contact with, in grave danger.
Frank flies to the UK, to put at least one thing right by telling Roy that he has some vital information regarding his brother who went missing in Iraq. Unfortunately that’s not the only thing that Roy will have to think about, because he’s about to go from living that most humdrum existence, to interacting with the maddest and baddest of people - first he is targeted by a local criminal gang, forcing him to abuse his position at Heathrow airport - something he has to do for the safety of himself, his son and his estranged wife. In addition, both Roy and Frank will be up against the world’s most powerful elites, who are planning a terrifying event that will decimate humanity, and usher in a brutal one-world government. Lots of tension in this one, with a great twist at the end!
This is a surprisingly good thriller from start to finish. The basic premise is frighteningly realistic, and provides a chilling background to the story of an ordinary man caught up in extraordinary problems. The writing matches anything from the masters. The characters involved are all real people with all the faults that people have. For the most part, everyone is a bad guy from some point of view. The novel's strength is in tracking the changes in relationships I can't wait for the movie!
Roy Sullivan is an immigrations officer at Heathrow airport. He is struggling to make ends meet and slowly losing control of his life when his brother Jimmy goes missing in Iraq. Searching for answers, Roy has promised himself he will not rest until he finds out the truth behind his brothers death. Roy doesn't think his life can get much worse until he is targeted by a local criminal gang to abuse his position at Heathrow airport - something he has to do for the safety of himself, his son and his estranged wife.
Roy is ready to give up, that is until a mysterious former Navy Seal steps in to his life. This stranger knows the truth about the 9/11 attacks and the real reason behind Jimmy's death. Not only this, but the Navy Seal warns Roy of the coming New World Order...not a threat, but a promise that there are people out there working to decimate the human population and 'start over'.
With the criminal gang, the New World Order, Jimmy's death and this mysterious person all in Roy's life, he knows he must pull himself together to set things right for him. But will he be able to pull it off or will he just run out of time?
What did I think?
This is yet another first for me! I'm not usually drawn to 'action' books but Alden has weaved a thriller-like storyline in to it too. It took me a little while to get my teeth in to, but 'The Angola Deception' soon got it's hooks in to me and I couldn't put it down.
The only reason why this book didn't get a five heart review is because Alden didn't offer any 'OH MY GOD' moments...there were no extreme twists within the book but it doesn't mean it's not brilliant! I think that Alden has written the book with the intention of grabbing you and not letting go...that doesn't mean there has to be major twists because the story itself is good enough to hold it's ground.
The book ended with the much dreaded 'To Be Continued...' - dreaded because you don't want to wait until the next book is released to find out what happens! That being said, Alden has 'wrapped' enough of the story up to keep me satisfied until the follow-up.
. . Lots and lots of “sipped” and “sipping” and “sips,” and standard bllsht for this sort of over done, overhyped, trite, tacky bllsht story. Lots of “sweat,” and “bile,” and “tears,” and “vomit,” and “shit,” and “padded,” and “padding,” etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.….
Standard bllsht.
Just standard.
And —OMG!— i wish I were a woman!! Portrayed as the toughest one that One With All The Money and Influence could possibly humanly choose for a bodyguard !!!
A WOMAN: THE TOUGHEST, ROUGHEST, PILE OF MUSCLE AND BONES POSSIBLE !!!!!
(I am reminded when Joey Buttafuoco threw “CHYNA” all over the ring when he fought her— the look of UTTER OVERWHELMING fear in her eyes !!! https://youtu.be/JuLWWDoN85E )
A WOMAN !!!! THE TOUGHEST, ROUGHEST, THING POSSIBLE!!!!
“… His attacker loomed over him, and he was surprised to see it was a woman. She worked fast, rifling his pockets….”
“… Frank spun around, just as Tank launched a roundhouse kick to his head. He ducked, the leg brushing the top of his skull, and moved in fast. Tank, younger and fitter, spun past him. Frank picked up the brass desk lamp and hurled it at her. She twisted her body, and the lamp crashed against the wall. Frank had underestimated her. She was fast, and tougher than he expected. There was no fear in her eyes, only the cool appraisal of a natural fighter, seeking an advantage.…”
And this means ALL women! Not just some:
“…Vicky, on the other hand, seemed focused. The colour had returned to her cheeks, and there was a determination about her that made Roy feel a little inadequate….”
Excellent geo-political thriller. Great characters, pacing and a very believable story line. This being a series, I'm not sure if I want to continue if Frank Marshall is dead. Frank is such a great character. We'll see.
I enjoy a well developed story line, uninterrupted by miss spelling and poor grammar. This is a fine story and I'm looking forward to the continuation. Well done sir.
I'm giving this 2 stars as a neutral rating but actually I didn't like it and dnf'd it. First of all, it ran afoul of two of my pet peeves: 1) Prologues: Prologues don't do a thing, they usually have nothing to do with the main story line and usually don't make sense until you get to the end of the book. 2) Alternating POVs. You're happily reading the book, then the book switches to another storyline and you have to reset and start again. Just let follow along the main storyline, I don't want to switch.
Having said all that, the writing isn't smooth. It's one of those books where I need to make myself read it. The prose doesn't run smoothly and take me along with it. After several chapters and multiple changes of POVs, I still hadn't got a good sense of where it's going I decided to dnf it. I will not be reading any more books from this author.
tldr: Multiple POV changes, writing not engrossing.
Roy Sullivan is determined to find out the truth about his brother's disapearence in Iraq, his ex wife is taking his son to start a new life in America, Roy's life can't get any worse-but it does when local crime boss Sammy French blackmails him into helping a wanted felon escape justice.
Former Navy SEAL Frank Marshall comes to the rescue and tells Roy about a global plot to seize power. Fast moving action, good characters, a good plot. I'm becoming another Alden fan, he should be a mainstream author. I screamed when I got to the end-To Be Continued. AARGH! Bring on Part Two.
Brilliant read, the writing was impeccable and the story never felt laboured and moved forward at break neck speed. The New World Order is a thing and anyone with half a brain can see that what we are living through today is all part of that sick agenda. Calling everything a conspiracy theory doesn't mean it's not happening and the talk of culling the population by as much as two thirds is definitely not a conspiracy because this has been spoken about by the 1% for decades and they are not making a secret of it. The world is being changed and it ain't for you.
D.C. Alden Is One of My Favorite Authors...It's hard to beat D.C.'s books. They're all very well-plotted and written, and he consistently ratchets up the tension until your nerves are stretched taut. I've enjoyed all of his books I've read so far and am anxiously awaiting the next installment in his his series of books. If you're looking for an exciting, well-written set of thrillers - look no further!
9/11 the unthinkable disaster where the innocent died the ultimate horror that destroyed everyone's hopes and dreams Caused by greed and a misconception of The power of mankind to protect an secure the future of our planet earth is just the Beginning in groups plan to achieve its goal A SKILLFUL BELEIVEABLE ACCOUNT USING VERY HUMAN ACTING GROUP OF INTERELATED PEOPLE TELL A SCARY STORY
I feel that DC Alden has a gripping story to tell of the manipulation of governments and power hungry humans over the masses. It seems an operative wakes up and the hunt is on
I feel this may be a 5 star book however with only part of the story it would be speculation on my part
Heart-pounding thriller you can't put down until you reach the end. Unfortunately, it's also very close to the truth. Labeled 'fiction' because names and places are fiction. The story itself is not. That has become more and more clear since the book was published. The enemy is not even hiding anymore. I hope, more people will wake up before it's too late.
Well thought out, great read, total page turner. Had to start next book. One gripe, the start of the second book is at the end, I know doesn't sound bad, but, when you start book two your already about 20% in .
A very involved conspiracy theory book. Some of the Chapters I found really concerning because of the consequences if this scenario was to occur in real life. It's very well written and moves along at a rapid pace.
Run-of-the-mill thriller that cooks up an unlikely and almost painfully generic plot made up of bits and pieces of all manner of kooky conspiracy theories. Being fastpaced and action-laden is its only saving grace, as that at least made it a quick read with some entertainment value.
My big problem with this book is how it is so irreverent towards the events on 9/11. Reducing those days down to the acts of megalomaniacs instead of keeping the blame on those who are to blame. I find it disrespectful and distasteful.
Great plot and very disturbing characters are good and a great page turner onto book two now great author a plot to overthrow the government and greed !!
Now that had everything you could want in a book! The plot had all the ups and downs you need for a great story. And it doesn't have any sequences. It ends right here.
Melodramatic enough, plenty of action, and weaves a lot of what we know and more of what we suspect into a fearsome future. Still...cordite in a modern firearm?
It took me until chapter four to become so engrossed in this book that I didn’t want to put it down to eat or sleep. There are some brave characters written into this story.
