An award-winning novelist’s heartwarming story about family and love lost, found, and finally truly revealed at Christmas.
Christmas takes a very different turn when the guests of honor break up instead of announcing their engagement. Trapped with his family, they learn that love looks different than either imagined. Both in their eighties, Dodie and Wilson Binder celebrateevery Christmas as if it were their last. This year, their grandson Micah is planning to ask his girlfriend, Katie, to marry him so they can celebrate with the whole family. But things go very wrong when she says "no." Now they are stuck. Too many people, too much snow, and too little room should be a recipe for disaster. But sometimes too much is just enough. Especially when it's Christmas.
Cynthia Ruchti tells stories hemmed-in-Hope through her novels and novellas, nonfiction books and devotionals, and through speaking for women's and writers' events. Her books have been recognized by many top industry readers', reviewers', library, retailer, and other honors. 4.5 stars This was a wonderful story for Christmas! If you have ever wanted to be dumped in the middle of a small-town family Christmas, this one is a poster child for the best type. I loved the family, the vibrant individual personalities. The way they treated Katie was revolutionary to her; so was the way they treated each other. You can almost feel Katie's heart warming and opening up under their kind influence.
When you start a Cynthia Ruchti book you just know it's going to be a winner! Having her boyriend of 10 months ask her to marry him is a dream come true for Katie. There is just one problem, she can't marry Micah with all the debt she is carrying because she doesn't want to burden him with it. They are already at his grandparents house when he proposes in front of everyone and she says, no. This does not deter him or the family from being kind to her and treating her as one of their own. Things can be quite chaotic at times with all the adult children of Wilson and Dodie Binder there plus their children. It's a very warm story that feels like you've found a friend within the pages. I hope you get a chance to read this during the holiday season I believe you will really enjoy it!
After grabbing this book for a couple bucks from CBD, I started it with little idea of what to expect... And I was blown away by what I found tucked inside the pages.
First, the Binder family. Can y'all just adopt me already?! I loved the large family, their traditions, their close-ties, their selfless love, and each of their individual uniquenesses. And then the "problem" couple—Micah was a sweetheart, and Katie... Oh, Katie. I related to her so well.
I really enjoy the writing style of this book. Sometimes, I find myself going “wait, what?”, but for the most part, it’s fun and engaging. The synopsis makes it sound like it's more from the grandparents' perspective, but it was mostly from Katie's.
This story focuses on family, traditions, savoring simple moments and celebrating the large moments and most of all, celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. At first I felt the writing was sort of choppy and I did't feel very connected to the characters, but the story slowly took form and I found it very enjoyable.
4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book Theme; Christmas love & spirit over a glorious holiday with the entire Bender family…Pull out everything that stands for Christmas…best traditions, homemade goodies & foods, heartfelt family love, hugs & tears, celebration of Jesus’s birth, snow & sled ride, a blizzard, skits & games. Now add a surprise baby adoption, a wedding proposal, grand parents in their eighties, and it equals blessings, kindness and goodness. A Christmas on steroids!!! I’ll take it. There is so much packed in this story.
Katie is going home with Micah Binder, her boyfriend, to his family Christmas in Stillwater, Minnesota and will meet his family for the first time. She has no idea what she is in for. Their relationship is heading toward “serious” and she has no idea that he will propose to her the minute they enter the front door of his grandparents home. Whoa! Taken off guard Katie answers NO, she will not marry him. That’s a great way to start a first meeting and a sensational holiday hello!…the story unfolds from here and we learn about Katie’s emotional baggage and the love overloaded in the Binder house. Micah is quite a catch for a future husband, but she feels unworthy. He is steadfast in his love for Katie. Will she come to her senses? A heartwarming family story of Christmas to love and ponder on. The spiritual insights and beliefs of the family were golden.
AN ENDLESS CHRISTMAS was full of the spirit of the holiday, family, a roller-coaster of emotion, love, forgiveness, inspirational moments, and a very sweet romance. With a beautiful story inside and beautiful hardcover binding on the outside, this would make a fabulous gift or book to be read each year around Christmastime. Perfect for inspirational romance readers.
The reasons why Katie was determined that she wasn't the right woman for Micah didn't feel strong enough initially. However, as the story progressed it was easy to see how Katie's life, especially growing up with the parents and family situation that she did, influenced how she saw herself, particularly her value and what the future would hold for her. I loved Micah's friendship and love for her and that of his family. The teasing. The acceptance. The overwhelming and unconditional love. The protecting and caring. The inviting and comforting. The characters of this family were all fabulous, but of course Micah and Katie and then Dodie and Wilson were the most memorable.
The story was paced wonderfully with plenty of Christmas traditions and spirit. Katie's struggles and the romance between her and Micah drove the story on as well as some surprises the family faces. The were so many tender moments. The ending was heartwarming and perfect for this story. This was one that I would definitely read again.

I read the book this afternoon and truly enjoyed it as my Christmas read. Besides the romance aspect, there are some good things to think about in this book regarding home and family. It had more depth and plot than many Christmas novellas that I have read. I would enjoy reading more about these characters.
Micah just heard the saddest answer anyone could think of when proposing. His girlfriend, Katie just said a resounding NO to his wedding proposal. And this happened during their Christmas weekend after he invited her to spend the holidays with his family. Ouch.
A Christmas celebration is supposed to be fun and full of love and be with family. But Katie thought this would turned into an awful lot of awkwardness if she'll spend it with Micah's family after turning him down. Well, surprise, surprise! Seemed like the family weren't upset with the development and the chaos, the children, the cheers, the familial bonding, all these made their way to Katie's heart.
Katie had no recollection of a loving family growing up, so this was a big adjustment to her, having to deal with a rowdy close-knit family. But we all know that Christmas always bring out the best in people and somehow, in Katie and Micah's case, there could just be light at the end of the tunnel waiting for them.
I loved this book, it reminds me of my loved ones who usually gather and spend time with us during the Yuletide season. This has been a perfect weekend read and holiday treat for the whole family!
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of the book!
I loved this book!!! It was very heartwarming, perfect for Christmas! I loved the big family togetherness that is portrayed in this book. Also the family's determination to become better people and learn from the past instead of letting regrets and mistakes in life stop you or make you bitter and destroy you. It's advice all of us need to take to heart. (I love the scene where they throw their regrets into the bonfire!)
Katie has VERY dysfunctional parents and has never known what it means to love and be loved by a family like Micah's. She's so sure that her life will follow the path of multiple past generations of her family that she determines she can't marry Micah and ruin his life. However, the warmth and generosity and love that Micah and his family show her is so real that she decides to stay for the holiday and find out what a Binder Christmas is all about.
You'll have no problem getting involved in this book while you snicker, laugh, and then cry tears of joy and sadness. There were so many inspirational and teachable moments in the book - I just loved it!!!

This is an unbelievably delightful read. Unless you’ve been around a large family, you might find some of the scenes unrealistic – yet they are not. Or if you’re from a rather dysfunctional family like Katie is, you might find the Binder clan a bit fairytale unreal – but they aren’t.
As the Binder family and all the inlaws gather in Grandma and Grandpa Binder’s little cottage way up North, layers of sweetness, tenderness, joviality, joyfulness, playfulness, and lots of other things begin to emerge as the “normal” ebb and flow of Christmas at the Binders.
Bits and pieces remind me of Christmases past at my parents. And of Christmases with my own children. And then of Christmases with my grown children and grandchildren. But the Binders take it to yet another layer of loving interaction and caring.
Without giving away too much of the story, sufficie it to say that Grandpa Binder gives them a little scare and that takes the family to another layer of cooperation and caring.
This is a must read Christmas novella. Be sure you find a copy somewhere. You may want to get it early in the season so you have time to share it with someone else.
I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
After embarassing herself and the man whose heart she holds dear with a public "no" to his marriage proposal, in front of his entire family no less, Katie Vale wonders if she needs to end this Christmas vacation before it has a chance to begin. Micah's noisy, comedic, loving, hugging family is so opposite to her own experience that she is shocked when they take her answer in stride and act as if it's only a temporary blip on the "made for each other" radar. How can she possibly explain?
If you are searching for a witty, authentic, inspiring family Christmas story, look no futher than "An Endless Christmas" with the Binder family, for no one leaves the cottage in Wisconsin without being thankful for every minute spent in the company of those they love; "in it for the long haul. No matter what." Endless. All because of a baby in the manger.
This story started a little slow. I was annoyed with how the main character, Katie, was acting and with not knowing why she was thinking she couldn't marry Micah. The more the book progressed, the more I enjoyed it and could imagine myself being in the cottage with the whole Binder Family. I love the cover and it matched the story. I didn't realize this book was Christian fiction until I got more into it, so it was an unexpected gift. No steamy, uncomfortable romance, no improper language, just a good, sweet, thoughtful book. A sweet reminder to never take a moment for granted and appreciate each one. It reminds me a little of how my mama's family of 7 siblings, their spouses & kids, and my grandparents used to be at Christmas time. Us kids would sit on the stairs and open presents, couches and chairs would be full, and we all had a great time together. 💗 I was planning on donating this book to our church library, but I enjoyed it so much that it might be a keeper.
Katie grew up in an home not built on love, but on two self-focused parents, and her childhood memories still cast a black shadow on her adult life. Right now, her thoughts of inferiority are telling her that she can't marry the man she loves, because their marriage would likely follow the same path as her parents: divorce. She actually feels as though her entire family history is marred by failed marriages and relationships. To add that upon that the emotional scars she carries from her childhood, she feels that she isn't great marriage material to offer to someone. Especially to a guy as perfect as Micah Binder. And especially to marry into a loving family as wonderful as the Binders. Katie's story hit me hard in the "feels"...
One line that really stands out to me is when Katie is thinking: "A guy shouldn't have to go through survival training to love someone." Her.
Katie's Christmas is being ruined by these thoughts, and yet, she's experiencing the happiest holiday season ever, because the Binder clan is over-the-top warm and loving -- no matter whether she answers "yes" or "no" to Micah's proposal. The whole family deeply cares for Katie, and they've barely just met her! Yet she's convinced it must be a trick... because how could it be real?
As Deb (Micah's mom) says in the book, the Binder family relies on their "live each moment to the full because it might be the last" philosophy. And that's something we should all try.
The book shares a great spiritual message. This family prays hard. And they believe. What an encouragement.
The wide cast of Binder family members keeps the conversations easily flowing, light-hearted, and with a dash of comedy thrown in now and then. I love the role of each character included. - - - - - - - - - - A story of a family's ever-increasing love for each other. A story of Christmas hope.
Minimum age to read: 13 and up (Clean adult fiction).
Content: Lightly mentions childbirth as it pertains to the first Christmas.
An Endless Christmas By Cynthia Ruchti is another wonderful novel from an author who never fails to warm me with her writing. Katie joins Micah for his family Christmas at his grandparents Wilson and Dodie Binder. The whole family is there. The ground is covered with snow. Good food is on the table. Christmas traditions abound. An Endless Christmas is not just a delightful, heart warming novel, it is so much more. It is love in action. Christ's love as described in 1Corinthians:13 is worked out in the pages of this beautiful novel. Love is not just a warm fuzzy feeling, it is an action. Cynthia Ruchti shows within the pages of the novel, that for love to last, it must be worked at, preferably in partnership with God. Nothing flourishes without some effort being put in. Inextricably tied into the love theme, is that of family. The Binder family unit is strong. They have their own unique traditions and they support each other. Their love just overflows to include others, such as Katie. The theme of grace runs throughout the novel. Katie feels unworthy of receiving the Binder's love. She does not realise that the love is freely given. She does not have to do anything to earn that love. Katie can be seen to represent mankind. We did nothing to earn the love of Jesus, we are not worthy but because of grace, Jesus freely gives us His love. An Endless Christmas has a delightful re-telling of the Christmas story from the point of view of the angels, as the young granddaughters write and re-enact it. I just loved their interpretation, and found it highly amusing. Within the novel is the emphasis to seize the day - or carpe diem - make every day count, make memories. We none of us know when our time is up, so love well and live well. Cynthia Ruchti raised the important issue of adoption from abroad. It was sensitively and tenderly done. All of the characters were realistic and loveable. I felt like I was reading about friends. There was a warmth and charm just oozing from them all, but particularly Wilson and Dodie as the grandparents. Once again, the novel ended far too soon. I felt bereft, but have been left with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Cynthia Ruchti has the power within her writing, to make me just want to leap inside the pages of her novel and live there. An Endless Christmas is just a perfect Christmas read. Give yourself a treat and buy it today.
I absolutely loved this book. When I picked it up, I thought it was a romance, but it was oh so much more than that. Katie was invited to spend Christmas with Micah's extended family. She was a bit nervous having only been dating for 10 months and coming from a rather dysfunctional family but they packed up and left warm, sunny Fort Meyers for the cold north. When Micah proposes in front of the family, she says no. This does not deter him or the family from being kind to her and treating her as one of their own. Things can be quite chaotic at times with all the adult children of Wilson and Dodie Binder there plus their children. In the small cottage and barn annex, it is a full house, full of love, laughter and joy. I loved the idea of unplugging for the holidays and hiding the phones and Ipads away in a basket. This small town had so much to offer this group of people that they were always on the go. When a terrible situation arises they all band together to support one another. Full of prayer, song and blessings, this family is one that I would love to spend Christmas with. This is a Christmas story that everyone should get the opportunity to read.
Such love and warmth and laughter and friendship emanated from this novella, courtesy of Cynthia Ruchti’s talented pen. Grandma Dodie and Grandpa Wilson are just the absolute sweetest and cutest couple ever! I want to be like them when I grow up.
For as much as I had tears in my eyes while reading An Endless Christmas, I also laughed out loud just as frequently. Sometimes merely lines apart. Between Grandma Dodie and Uncle Paul, I don’t remember the last time I laughed so much at people who weren’t real!
And the other people? Oh goodness, that family. Next to my own, the Binders are my new favorite family. Grandpa Wilson and his nightly blessings and song. Micah and his steady heart. Brogan and his choice of sleepwear. All of them welcoming Katie as family even though – maybe especially because – she said ‘no’ to Micah’s proposal. The adorable girls and the Christmas pageant. Oh my heart, the pageant! A word of advice for when you get to that part in the story — keep a tissue or two handy for the tears that will leak out but also… eat or drink at your risk until it’s over. Laughter-induced choking hazards ahead :)
Probably the best part though? The fact that this family – even in their cute, sweet, humor-filled LOVE for each other – is full of a bunch of people who are human. Sure, they teased and bantered and hugged a lot. But they also cried sometimes. They admitted past failures. Some of them were struggling to make it as single parents or new parents or parents whose parents were aging. Through it all though, they loved each other deeply and steadily.
I think everyone is craving that in today’s world. Someone – a person, a family, a community – who will love them that completely. Warts, scars, debts, track records and all. During this season where we celebrate Jesus’ birth, An Endless Christmas is such a beautiful reminder that Someone does love all of us – each of us – just like that.

Christmas with the Binder family is what most families dream of. The family and extended family members all gather at their grandparents' cottage for a week of celebration. Living quarters are cramped and tempers "could" flare, but there is so much love shared amongst these characters that cramped quarters and chaos are the norm, and laughter abounds.
I loved this story of a Binder family Christmas. Love and respect are highlights throughout this warm and cozy novella. This is not to say the story reveals the perfect family, but the caring, love and forgiveness expressed are so refreshing. This family owns its share of troubles as any family does, but how they deal with these issues is inspiring.
Katie finds that not all families are broken and dysfunctional. A journey from her childhood of brokenness, heartbreak and loneliness to eye-opening awe as the Binder family embraces her is a healing balm. Their love and respect surround her in the hope for new beginnings.

A great story and I loved this family! I fell in love with this place and was right there with this very special Christmas. I am now ready to start my Christmas.
I really liked this book, but it was a little too over the top. The story is about Katie and Micah. Micah is a member of the Binder family-- a family who is very close knit and spends every Christmas together with no technology-- nothing but quality time. He takes his girlfriend, Katie, with him and proposes, but she says no. However, nobody is upset by that. This family is so positive and upbeat that they all take it as "not yet" and love Katie anyway. I thought it was a little exaggerated how close Katie got to the family when this is the first time they'd ever met and the whole book takes place over a week period. I think SOME people are like that, but its not very believable to think the whole family would be like that. I also think it was unbelievable how there was no tension at all between her and Micah after she says no. I think anyone's pride would be hurt and there'd be at least a little bit of resulting strife. Throughout the book, Katie bonds with Micah's family and then near the end the grandpa blacks out and nobody knows why. He is on the verge of death then all of a sudden comes back and they find out it was just the result of taking a little too much of his meds. One of Micah's sisters is not at the Christmas event because she's overseas adopting a baby but then they come and surprise the family with the twins they have adopted. In the end, Katie uses the ring Micah gave her and proposes to him. The reason she said no initially is because nobody in her family has ever had a successful marriage so she thought she was doomed. But in the course of the week, she gets over it. I love the setting in this book. It is very cozy and Christmas-y. I also like that they incorporate a lot of faith-based elements and God and the Bible are mentioned frequently. In fact, it is Jesus' own family lineage that convinces Katie that she's not doomed to a failed marriage. Jesus came from a line of people who weren't perfect, and yet He was! Overall, I'd recommend this book if you're looking for a cute, cozy read. But you have to let your imagination stretch a little bit to find it believable or realistic at all.
I read this every year around Christmas and it never ceases to make me happy. It's such a wholesome, family-oriented story! The true meaning of Christmas is reflected so well in this book!
Legacy. Unconditional love. And not only unconditional love, but outrageous, extravagant love.
This and so much more is the essence of An Endless Christmas, one of the most memorable and endearing stories I’ve ever read. While its December Minnesota setting certainly invokes the Christmas spirit, this story gently unfolds messages that readers can take to heart every day of the year. Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite writers, for she always entertains with stories filled with deep characterization, lyrical writing, heartfelt emotion, and spiritual lessons that make life all the richer.
Stillwater, Minnesota . . . From its historical section with quaint stores, inns and Victorian homes, to the vertical lift bridge stretching across the St. Croix to Houlton, Wisconsin, Cynthia brings this picturesque setting to life.
As Micah and Katie join the Binder family for an important family tradition, the Christmas week extravaganza at his grandparents’ cottage north of Stillwater, we are introduced to one of the most precious fictional families I’ve ever met. Katie, “the daughter of parents who ate conflict for breakfast,” yearned for a real family who could weather storms with their love intact. With his patience, tenderness, and steadfast love, God used Micah and his family to open Katie’s eyes to all that could be. This conversation between them is so meaningful . . .
Katie: “You do know that those people in there aren’t normal. Forgiveness is second nature to them. Nobody holds a grudge. The in-laws are indistinguishable from the children born into the family.” Micah: “What if this kind of crazy love is normal and everything else is the warped way of living?”
Micah’s eighty-something grandparents, Dodie and Wilson, are at the heart of this story and the impact of their legacy is something to which all readers can cling. There’s also some incredibly moving scenes, such as the family’s burning of the year’s regrets in a bonfire, Wilson’s goodnight prayer/blessing to each family member, and the children’s delightfully funny Christmas play.
Of all the spiritual gems in this story, I think the one that touched me most is one which we can all apply daily . . . that we should never leave any unfinished business when it comes to our loved ones. That we should never have to rush to a sick person’s bedside with a need to express love, because that love has been conveyed by words and actions every day.
It is my hope that all who read this review will find a copy of An Endless Christmas and cherish your family in a more meaningful way every day because of it. For beauty of narrative, the entire Binder family, and the way this story touched me . . . 5 stars! Highly recommended.

Review originally posted: http://godsdanceralwayz.blogspot.com/... Christmas books are not my thing. So when I got Cynthia Ruchti's newest novella, An Endless Christmas (Worthy Publishing), I was a bit confused as to why I had agreed to be part of this blog tour. As the stories' Binder family let's go of Christmas traditions each year to just live and enjoy each moment, I'm glad I let go of mine of not reading Christmas stories.
Only grandchild of a large family, Micah Binder, invites his girlfriend to his family's week long Christmas festivities in northern Minnesota. As if staying with your boyfriend's family for a holiday week, in a tiny technology free cottage in freezing cold Minnesota for the first time wasn't stressful enough, Katie gets proposed to immediately upon walking in the door. She tells Micah NO, in front of his entire family. The novella follows Micah and Katie's journey as she toughs out Christmas week and becomes acquainted with his family. Seemingly perfect, the story just brushes over the little facts pointing out the Binders' flaws but never really telling you what they are. The story runs similar to this, a little rough around the edges, lacking in some basic plot building, but magical when all is said and done. It is cheesy in all the right ways. As I was reading I was picturing a made for TV Christmas movie and wanting a family holiday of my own like that I was reading. So much seems to go wrong throughout the week, but the way the family bands together and accepts one another's differences (and they are wide) is beautiful. I found myself thinking about their story long after I closed the book. If there were a follow up novel or novella I would definitely read it. I guarantee you, you will find part of yourself somewhere in these pages, and I hope when all is said and done...you yourself will celebrate an endless Christmas.
And shout out to the author who lives in a pretty cool state! ;)
An Endless Christmas will be released TOMORROW October 13, 2015. I strongly encourage you to grab yourself a copy of this quick read!
What is your favorite Christmas tradition? I've always loved putting out the nativity set!
Note: This novella was provided to me for review as party of a First Look Blog Tour by Worthy Publishing in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
'Tis the season for all things Christmas: Hallmark Christmas movies playing 24/7, Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Christmas decorations, holiday baking, and—of course—Christmas reading. An Endless Christmas fits that last category, though it's far from the fluffy romance that comprises many Christmas novellas. In fact, while there is romance, An Endless Christmas is more about embracing family and cherishing each other than it is about romantic love.
We never know when we'll have our last Christmas all together as a family—a fact that has become more real to me after the deaths of three of my four grandparents. That's a concept the Binder family embraced, and I loved reading about their traditions and extreme love for each other. I also thought the way they rallied around each other and clung to the Lord amidst difficulty was inspiring and realistic. (I may have shed a few tears.)
The majority of the story is told from Katie's perspective, and I enjoyed trying to learn about the family members and figure out what was wrong with Grandpa Wilson along with her. However, I never quite understood Katie's hesitance to accept Micah's proposal. When her reasons were revealed, they seemed a little too inconsequential to me—that doesn't mean they were inconsequential, but I certainly didn't understand them.
I did enjoy almost everything about the novel, especially the way Ruchti told the story. I knew that she and I would be on the same page when she touched on one of the things that annoys me most in romances—"just talk about it already" syndrome. As Katie said to Micah, "It frustrates me when I read a novel about a conflict between people that goes on and on when all they'd need to do is sit down and talk to each other for a few minutes" (p. 103). At that moment, I wanted to give Ruchti a high five :-)
With a plot that I could easily see as a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, An Endless Christmas is both a good read and challenging. As I head into the Christmas season, I will certainly be considering how I can make the most of each experience with my family.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Litfuse Publicity Group. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Even though it is only October, I have officially read my first Christmas book, and it certainly wasn't the story I thought I'd read!
While I read this book in just a couple of hours and loved every page, it doesn't mean the story is too short! Ms. Ruchti certainly gives us a full storyline in this beautiful little novel and the characters are great! The story starts out with Micah, a very tender hearted man proposing marriage to Katie who flatly declines. You would think this would set the tone for the book, but the good news is that it's just the beginning. What follows is the surprising reaction of the family and the Christmas celebration that warms her.
Katie didn't have loving family memories from her childhood, so Micah's family was a big adjustment to her, having to deal with a rowdy close-knit family. But we all know that Christmas always bring out the best in people and somehow, in Katie and Micah's case, there could just be light at the end of the tunnel waiting for them. I loved the family's choosing to become better people and learn from their past rather than allowing regrets and mistakes in life stop them or make them bitter. This is defiitely advice all of us need to remember and apply in our own lives.
As I was reading this book, I could imagine it being a "made for TV" Christmas movie later this year. It's one of those stories where everything seems to go wrong, but then at the end of the day, family bands together and accepts one another's huge differences and everything is beautiful.
Overall, this is a quick read with a great story. I found myself thinking about the story long after I closed the book. I could see a follow up or "part two" novella being released, and if there is, I would definitely read it. I'm certain if you read this book, you'll find yourself somewhere in the story, and when it's over, you will be able to celebrate your own endless Christmas.
