Jimmy is a fan of many things: sniffing sharpies, sleeping, staying at home on weekends, hating his boss, and car crashes. He's always liked car crashes. The jagged metal, the shards of glass on the road, the flashing rollers from the medics. It's all so exhilarating. But Jimmy doesn't want to hurt anyone. He just wants to get off. They call it symphorophilia: being erotically aroused by accidents or catastrophe's. Jimmy parks across the street, takes care of business, and gets out of dodge. He spends his Friday nights watching crash test videos in his bed and watching TV with his sister Reese. No harm, no foul, no murder. But when he meets a fiery young woman with the same fetish, he quickly falls for her. Her name is Ezra, and she is mildly obsessed with 9/11 and enjoys a good, red tragedy when looking for a fun night out. The very essence of bad influence and femme fatale, Ezra may not be the best person to be in Jimmy's life. She wants more than crash test videos and watching fender benders. She wants snipped brake lines and fires started. She wants tears and blood and gurneys. But love conquers all, unfortunately. As their relationship snowballs to bloody and carnal extremes, will Jimmy realize Ezra may not be looking for just harmless fun? Or will Ezra help him to realize his true nature and follow her to the end? A work of transgressive fiction that crosses the double yellow line and explores the darker part of human nature despite the smell of leaking gasoline stinging your nostrils. Buckle Up.
This book is like you might guess from the summary....so wrong. wait! I'm not done! Much like driving by a car crash and slowing down out of "safety" or rather curiosity and addiction to disaster....I just couldn't help but read it. In fact, I couldn't stop reading it. "rubbernecks"... all of us! I had to know where it was going! I laughed out loud a good number of times in this book. it had all the good components to make you question yourself and maybe your own guilty pleasures (hopefully less catastrophic ones). I was trapped, excited simply by wondering what he will write next. I would suggest this book to those of you willing to see the darker/dirtier side of humor and life. Those of you who understand that we are all....so wrong.
