Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

I'll see this volume in hell.

Within these pages is some of the worst writing I have ever had the misfortune of consuming in my entire life. I want to die. I want to die. I want to be killed. I want to be set on fire.

So Kishimoto sets up Madara since the start of this series to be the perfect final villain, he gives him all of the hype and all of the narrative setup, he gives him the coolest abilities, character design, and solidifies his philosophy in contrast to our heroes. And then what does Kishimoto do? He throws it all away in favour of some new, boring and one-dimensional character who none of us have ever heard of in our entire life.

What the hell is this garbage? How could you screw things up this badly! Who is Kaguya and why do I care? You have never mentioned this absurd character a single time before, ever. (Before this arc, I mean). And now you are expecting me to be okay with her suddenly taking the role of Madara as the final villain that Team 7 needs to overcome? This is just offensive to your own audience. MADARA should've been the last enemy that Naruto and Sasuke need to take out. How can you give Madara a new powerup, then just replace him with somebody who is far less cool?

That was a rhetorical question. You see, I already know the answer. The reason is because Kishimoto made Madara too strong. With both Rinnegan, and in Six Paths form, Naruto and Sasuke COULD NOT have beaten him. Kishi wrote himself into a corner by making Madara too overpowered. I cannot believe how awful all of this is.

And making Naruto and Sasuke the 'Reincarnations' of Ashura and Indra is also rubbish. And now they're technically cousins, too? I hate my life. Someone end me.

You had a great ending right there. It was on a silver platter for you. How could you miss the off ramp this badly?

I'm 100% sure not even Kishimoto was sure what the hell's going on anymore.

Guy and Bee should've died, period. As much as I like them, that's the ending both of them deserved, and would have actually produced impactful deaths, unlike Neji's empty death (the more I look back at it, the more pointless it feels). But then again, all of Kishimoto's characters deserved so, so much better. I could go on and on about that but honestly I don't fucking care anymore, I just want it to be over already.

And although I do like the idea of what Kaguya could have been, I hate everything that she, and her stupid sons and grandsons (and their Messiah/uhm-the Antichrist? Judas? idk-like reincarnations), represent: the final nail in the coffin for Kishimoto's legacy. He fucked up so, so bad when he decided to turn an enjoyable manga series about fictional ninjas into a biblical philosophical circus that feels like a cheap parody of Dragon Ball.

So the big question is: Do you like insane powerups? Why, yes, I do.

Do you like fucking insane powerups? Of course. I live for them.

Do you live to fuck these insane powerups? Um. I don't know what you mean by that.

Well it's time to roll out the great theme of duality in this series and ramp it up into a nightmare of reincarnation and godlike powers, give Madara everything he's ever wanted, and then betray it by bringing back the real goddess of the world.

Impressive? Over the top? Hell yes. This is PAYOFF TIME.

Guy sensei unleashes his full power on Madara and fights him but its becoming difficult while on the other hand we have Naruto and Sasuke both being kinda revived but one great moment is when Naruto meets the sage of the six paths aka HAGOROMO and he tells him the full story of how he founded the ninja religion, his birth, a little about his mother KAGUYA and like his sons Indra and Asura and their conflict and how they have been both born into Naruto and Sasuke and give them their sun and moon powers which augment their strength and they return to normal world and kicking the shit out of Madara and while everything is going on, more awesome moments occur when we have heroic moments for Guy but Naruto heals him with his power but then comes their fight with Madara when he activates Infinite Tsukoyomi but then Zetsu reveals his true plan and we have the birth of the big threat aka KAGUYA! This volume was awesome and like fired on all cylinders and to think that Madara was the big threat was a diversion, and we finally have Kaguya Otostsuki! Art here in this volume was so gorgeous to look at and the story is super engaging!!

A lot of things happening in this one. It's kind of a bummer to see Kishimoto tacking stuff on so late in the game when all the drama and plot developments up to this point have felt fairly justified and planned out to some degree.

Side note/general thought about the series: I love the fashion of Naruto. The fishnet undershirts and the weird toe boots and such. No shonen author will ever be this brave again.

Obito rectified his mistake by reviving Naruto. Just after casting his Genjutsu over the entire Shinobi world, Madara had a falling out with Black Zetsu. Only a select few managed to evade the Infinite Tsukuyomi, all thanks to the Sasuke's new ocular powers. Now, Madara's body is completely taken over by Kaguya who seems to be in a leage of her own. Kishimoto Sensei truly knows for certain when to throw a good plot-twist to best capture the attention of the readers.

The vol is almost climax fighting scene. Naruto and Sasuke help each other. In former half, they dislike each other. Now, they are rival and peer. To defeat enemies, they withdraw their power maximum. The scene is moving us and I feel what ties is, what the rival is. I can learn like these thing to read.

This is a review of the entire series.

Once upon a time, the spirit of an evil Nine Tailed Fox wreaked havoc on Konohagakure; the Village Hidden in the Leaves, killing hundreds of honorable ninja in the skirmish and leaving many children without homes or parents. The Fourth Hokage (leader of the village) unleashes a forbidden jutsu (magic spell/ninja ability) to seal the spirit of the evil fox into the body of a newborn baby named Naruto at the cost of his own life. He did this in the hopes that the boy could one day learn to master the power of the demonic spirit and use it to protect the village and become a great hero of the people.

Unknown to the citizens of the Leaf, the Nine Tailed Fox was being controlled by an even more powerful adversary, a legendary rogue ninja that plans to wage war against the entire world from the shadows. The identity of the mysterious ninja that attacked the Leaf Village using the Nine Tails died with the Fourth Hokage, and he used what remained of his life to gift Naruto with the power of one day being able to stop this evil ninja and a clan of outlawed S-rank criminals called the Akatsuki from committing mass genocide against the many hidden villages and clans of the world.

Because of the evil spirit sealed inside him, Naruto grew up hated by the other children of the village because they believe him and the Nine Tails to be one and the same. They believe he’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, waiting for the perfect moment to kill them all just like the Nine Tails killed their parents and families. Shunned, dehumanized and treated like dirt, Naruto vows to become the greatest hokage the world has ever seen so that he can receive the love and acknowledgement he never got as a child.

On top of the Nine Tails power and the will to never quit, Naruto also possesses the uncanny ability to turn everyone he meets into a potential comrade. He brings out the best in his peers and tries his hardest to make his enemies see the errors of their ways. He disobeys the rules and ignores cultural traditions to try and make changes to the world and break the eternal cycle of war and hatred through his own methods. His determination is infectious to friend and foe alike. He earns himself the respect he deserves by overcoming one impossible obstacle at a time.

Naruto encounters many fascinating and terrifying ninja over the course of his journey to become hokage. Among them are Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto’s best friend and rival who is driven by the vengeful lust to murder his elder brother after he wiped out their own clan in cold blood. Sasuke warms up to Naruto, but his hatred and trauma are dangerous forces that threaten to break his moral code as a ninja and destroy his reputation among his peers.

Kakashi Hatake is a notorious copycat ninja that survived one of the most brutal and devastating wars in history as well as the Nine Tails attack on the Leaf Village. He becomes Naruto and Sasuke’s mentor and teaches them a great number of valuable lessons about surviving in the dangerous world of rogue ninja, bloodthirsty assassins and clans ruled by corruption.

Jiraiya is a perverted yet wise sage who taught the Fourth Hokage everything he knew and he’s regarded as a god among shinobi that’s famous for his heroic actions in the second great ninja war. He takes an interest in Naruto and raises him as a father figure to carry on the legacy of the Fourth Hokage to prepare him for the many dangerous people that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes.

The Akatsuki is one such group of wicked ninja. Among them are Sasuke’s brother Itachi who murdered his clan and possesses many dangerous techniques involving illusions, psychological torture and elemental manipulation. Sasori who controls poisonous puppets with magical threads, Orochimaru who mastered the forbidden arts of reanimation and quasi-immortality, Deidara who fights from afar using detonating clay and many other deadly foes.

The entire series chronicles Naruto and his fellow ninja comrades growing through countless trials and tragedies. There are hundreds of unique jutsus, clans, and techniques which lead to some very intense, creative and strategic battles between skilled ninja with diverse abilities that don’t always match up evenly. There are clan based abilities such as the Aburame clan’s ability to control insects, the Yamanaka clan’s ability to jump into other people’s minds and control their bodies and the Inuzuka clan’s ability to bond with wolves that learn to mimic their master’s battle skills. Then there’s ocular genetic abilities such as the sharingan which allows the user to create psychological illusions, copy their enemy’s abilities and manipulate elemental energy. The byakugan allows the user to read their enemies vital points and detect their spiritual energy from faraway. The rinnegan grants control over space and gravity and so on.

On top of having countless unique abilities, nearly every character has a tragic backstory that makes them sympathetic and relatable, even the nastiest of the villains have well-explored reasons for following the paths they do and becoming the way they are. One of my favorite aspects of the series is how well it explores the physical, emotional and psychological effects war can have on society and culture as well as the survivors and future generations that are forced to live in them. How it breeds racism and cultural disputes, how it inspires hatred in orphaned children and war veterans robbed of their homes toward foreign nations, as well as how this eventually leads to further death, war, poverty and destruction. Learning to forgive the ones you hate to prevent further conflict and damaging the world for future generations even further is a major theme throughout the story.

Being a massive 700 chapter series, it’s not too surprising that there’s some plot holes and consistency issues. A rule might be stated regarding the requirements and usage of a certain jutsu or ability only for that rule to be repeatedly broken 400 chapters later. Sometimes the characters and rules contradict themselves, sometimes the chronology of certain events and historical facts don’t match up perfectly, the lore and general backstory go through several retcons that change the philosophy and power scaling of the characters and the scope of world-building; the final arc especially drags on and breaks a lot of the logic and rules that the story spent the whole series setting up, etc...

Naruto’s far from perfect, but I remember it very fondly for being one of the first series that introduced me to things like manga and Japanese entertainment in general. It was one of those childhood classics like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin. The series grew up with me and I can’t help but feel grateful to it for introducing me to hundreds of other franchises that I’m still a huge fan of to this day and I continue to find many new ones on the regular. Naruto's journey from a clownish, disrespected outcast into a talented, well-loved and admired hero is a memorable one.

Guy has unleashed all eight gates and is fighting Madara. Naruto meets with the Sage of Six Paths while unconscious. The sage reveals that Naruto is the reincarnation of his son Ashura, the kind but stupid ninja. Sasuke is the reincarnation of Indra, the older, more talented, yet also more cruel brother. Madara and Hashirama are also reincarnations.

Naruto also a piece of all nine buji within him, thanks to Obito. It is revealed that the sage has been simultaneously talking to Sasuke within his was also near death. Both Sasuke and Naruto agree to work together and destroy Madara. The sage gives them some of his power before he goes.

Guy put up a good fight against Madara, but he is weakening. Before his chakra can leave the final gate, Naruto gives him more. Gaara takes Guy away and the second hokage teleport Sasuke to Naruto. Naruto uses lava style to cut down the divine tree. Sasuke has unlocked the rinnegan in one eye and he and Naruto make a pretty good team. Orbito asks Sakura to cut out his rinnegan before Madara can take it back, but Sakura is too slow and Zetsu teleports her out of Obito's time space. Madara now has both rinnegans.

Madara launches the infinite tsukuyomi on the moon, putting everyone in a dream, except Sasuke, Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura, who are all inside Sasuke's susano'o. It was so sad to see Gaara's dream! Everyone in the genjutsu will eventually turn into a white Zetsu. Something is taking over Madara: he transforms into Ohtsuki Kaguya, the Sage of Six Paths' mother and the woman who stole the original chakra from the divine tree. She promises to kill them all.

At this point, I am feeling a little tired of how long this battle has been going on for. I would have prefered more mini-adventures over this giant climax.

The one in which everyone acts like the fact that Sakura is still in love with Sasuke is a testament to her kind and gentle heart when really it's a fucked up connection to a man whose tried to kill her and has continously been callus and manipulative. Nothing gets me going quite like being treated like a burden forever. Haha, romance!

Also the one in which blah blah blah Sasuke and Naruto are bound by fate blah blah blah child of prophecy. Can we just skip to the part where Naruto punches his friendship back into Sasuke's heart?

Also the one in which Gaara is a precious cinnamon roll that I wish I could carry to a better series.

Also the one in which OH MY GOD JUST PICK A BAD GUY ALREADY. This is like the 6th antagonist.

Pulling out a new villain in the last few chapters was quite brave. Not the good kind of brave, the stupid get yourself killed because you weren't thinking kind of bravery. Kaguya could have just been backstory and Madara would be the final villain who reached too far and became the new Kaguya, she didn't need to come back. Kishimoto could have done all final fights in other dimensions that he wanted to draw with Madara as the villain and then Sasuke/Naruto could use the Six Paths special move on him just as Six Paths had once done with his brother. It would have still been about the shinobi and the shinobi world which created Madara and enabled him to go this far as well as Naruto/Sasuke and their taking different paths in this shinobi world so they can defeat Madara and fix the world that created him. I do like her design, I can't deny that.

Apart from the very end, I did enjoy the volume.

Gai. I know that major characters dying can add weight to a story especially in such an event as war where there are bound to be casualties, but I honestly could not have beared to see Gai die. He really gave Madara not a single opportunity to fight back, going at him like crazy. With Night Gai he took a giant chunk out of him. Madara looked wrecked, but still excited. Thank god for Gai giving is something we're more familiar with, which was refreshing nonetheless after so much throwing big things around.

During this Naruto and Sasuke meet the Sage of Six Paths who gives them a power boost while they come back to life. He says Naruto called upon him, so Sasuke must have too right? Or was it subconsciously through Ashura and Indra's chakra. This is all the Sage's fault. He wasn't leaving a family business behind, he didn't need to pick a new CEO or anything. What reason was there to choose one child to carry in your legacy? It would have been better anyway for them, the two sides of your power, both of which you needed to do what you did, to go forth and guide the world together in balance. Failed father's everywhere. Also, the rinnegan manifested because Madara joined Ashura and Indra's chakra inside him. This is what the Sage said, so does this mean you need the chakra of the two brothers which crops up in 2 reincarnates, which would mean only an Uchiha reincarnate could manifest the rinnegan. Or do you just need their blood, through which you inherit chakra that has their DNA signature? And does rinnegan only manifest in sequence: Sharingan, Mangekyo, Eternal then Rinnegan, or can you get the rinnegan from the get go by mixing the chakra. Finally, can somebody else mix Ashura and Indra chakra within them, even if they are not Uchiha or Senju, and get the rinnegan? This one probably isn't right as Danzo had Uchiha parts (Sharingan) and Hashirama cells.

Apparently the prophecy about the world's saviour had a little detail Jiraiya missed. It was said to Hagaromo that it would be a "blue-eyed youth" so it wasn't gonna be Nagato was it? Unless the blue-eyed youth is a separate prophecy about a person who will know and love all the bijuu and the saviour is a different prophecy. I give the benefit of the doubt way too much because I can't be bothered anymore to nitpick.

Madara called the battle between himself and Six Paths Sasuke/Naruto the Final Battle. He was wrong. Wasn't it so perfect that their powers weren't complete like they are within Madara, so the two have to work together to take him down. They do work very well together when they want to.

Madara takes every opportunity he can to sh*t on Obito. He needs the rinnegan from him and he's gonna get, but he's just got to ruin Obito's life a little more before he lets him die. Madara orchestrated everything with Rin to make Obito despair, then he taught Obito to do that to other people. A cruel cycle of manipulation. It fits with the story that these adults drag well meaning, kind children full of love, into their age old revenge plots, it happened so often. Kaguya and Zetsu manipulation don't fit. The cruel tongue of Zetsu won't let Obito go either. He really had to make fun of the desires of his heart, for redemption, in front of everyone didn't he?

Teamwork is key to defeating the two rinnegan bearing Madara and so it's a good thing the original Team 7 is all together. Except they really needn't be as it's all Naruto and Sasuke fighting. Kakashi comically had his Sharingan snatched and Sakura was never given a chance. She gets mental development, she's stronger and knows her worth. But all she is allowed to do in this fight is go after Madara once and be foiled. It's Naruto with the help of all the bijuu chakra inside him and Sasuke with his winged susanoo who take on Madara's planetary construction which is much larger than Pain's. He recreates the damn Moon.

Sasuke is such a b*tch today. He's got such a nasty personality, but it makes me laugh sometimes. Did he really have to knock down Sakura when all she wanted to know was what's happening outside. All he had to say was that the Infinite Tsukuyomi was launched. Kakashi berates him and all he gets is insults in return, but to be honest he hasn't been Sasuke's teacher for a long time.

Look at Sakura's body language! She's grown into a girl who keeps her hands clenched at her sides, in a fighting stance and ready to go when she's needed. Sasuke returns and all she can think about is how he still won't look at her or help her.  Now she's standing there with her arms up defensively against his cruel tongue. She wants to help and if Sasuke was a better leader, he'd realise there were ways she could. That team needs Naruto to at the very least counteract Sasuke's attitude.

Sweet dreams everyone, especially Gaara, that dream was beautiful.
