The story that started it all! Witness Sonic's heroics as he keeps the denizens of Mobius from being roboticized by the evil Dr. Robotnik. Features the first comic book appearances of Tails, Sally, Antoine and Rotor!
So this is the actually first issue in the series. Number zero. It's the first appearance for most of the freedom fighter and how it all started. I like how light the story is, the jokes even the art is cute. Totally loved it.
I'm on issue #45 of the Archie run of Sonic, so it was really, really nice to jump back to the early art and the more slapstick storylines. I've really missed seeing this part of Sonic, so it was a real treat. In the end, I'm glad I saved this. There's another Sonic mini series that I look forward to reading when I'm completely done!
slay gonna read all of the sonic comics this was nice. just gave a little backstory nothing too big. tails looks so ugly idk who the fuck sally acorn is but shes cool ig
It's an easy to follow and very funny first issue, which cleverly combines humour and silliness with some dark undertones and situations. It's nice to see how authors decided to push for the environmental themes which are apparent in the games even from that era. Dr. Robotnik works great as an image of the ruthless and uncontrolled industrialization. Sonic's design is a little weird in this one (his spikes look as flat as paper to me), but overall characters are pretty well designed and drawn, the new Dr. Robotnik is pretty fearsome. All in all, it's a fun and educational read for kids, but even I had a few chuckles while reading this. I finished the issue with a smile on my face and it was a nice relief from other "dark and gritty" stories.
