Venom escaped New York and now resides in San Francisco. Having turned over a new leaf, Venom decides to become a protector of the weak and forgotten. But can this lethal protector truly become a hero?
My favorite homicidal villains are those who own what they are but still have somewhat of a moral compass. Venom fits that bill and it was in this arc where we really get to see that.
I've missed the Spiderman, Venom, Carnage trio and thought I'd kickstart w/ Venom.
This issue was primarily introductory and in a sense - that really worked for me since the last time I read the Spiderman saga was when I was 12 or 13. It had a quick roundup of Venom and Spidey's relationship and why he went back to San Fran.
Also - the 5 stars was very much for the brilliant opening monologue line by Venom:
"...In this modern age, there are always those who seek more freedom than the Law allows..."
Największym z nich jest oczywiście znienawidzony pajęczak (Spider-Man).
Prowadzi to do wielu naprawdę dobrze napisanych scen, pozwalających troszkę lepiej poznać Venoma/Eddiego.
it was really good I don't love the character designs but its really fun and he's actually the exact same as the movie tbh so weird and so funny he is so comical. I cant believe Eddie is blonde; that's actually crazyyyyy wildest discovery ever. and why the hell is he beefing spideyyy lmaooo that's actually cinemaaaa peak peak peak. but I am NOT looking at the OG appearance in amazing spider man like yeah its great but how the hell do I just start it randomly in the middle of 300 volumes??? the story is interesting so far but not enough Eddie Venom content but the story is cool. like him being homeless and being chased by police and now he's going to have to figure out where to reside safely and find a place and when he does they just think he's too freaky to fit in. that's so sad tbhhhh like when he finally finds a safe place and then he cant be there safely or live there for a while or even just for food its kinda sad but he at least he's a good person. he's hilarious talking to the bag guys and all the criminals and protecting the woman at the start from rape and all that??? awesome asf. bare minimum to be a good person but hey ill take what I can get.

Not sure I like it, but I'm giving it a chance. I guess this one is not as interesting as other Venom stories because it's like the first of Venom on their own and Spiderman is still pretty much involved, so I guess they were easing the character into its own thing separate from Spiderman. Let's see where it goes.
“Ooooo being melodramatic gives us such a tingle!”
Great shading and lighting is used to show Venom fighting to defend women and the homeless. They also use they/them pronouns. They’re the wokest superhero and I love them
Not really sure how to rate this as it was quite short but really entertaining introduction. Venom is peak comedy and god knows how much I love antiheroes🤝
My rating are based on the trade paperback consisting of Issue 1 to 6. Quite a fun series. Feels like the 2018 Venom movie was loosely adapted from this comic series.
Great first issue, makes me want to continue the series. Got the Trick or Read 2025 version. Serves as a great intro to Venom and the main parts of his backstory post-Spidey.
This was a good introduction to Venom: Lethal Protector. After watching the movie I wanted to go into the comics and read through them to learn more about Venom. As I want to become more critical and greedy with my 5 stars, I want to give this one a 4.5 because I wish they had more backstory at the beginning of the story. But it was enough to understand what was going on. But there were parts where they mentioned tidbits of information from the universes, I wish I knew more of.
This was a fun start. You see the growth in Venom m and Michelinie really has the voice down for both Spidey and Venom at this point. Bagley’s artwork is top notch as usual.
