Love, Lies, Deceit, Vol. 1

Rate this book
Janice Fisher’s childhood was what every little girl dreamed of—big house, lots of attention and rich parents who loved her. She’s a bit sheltered, maybe, but that’s okay. At least it’s okay until she starts college and ‘sheltered’ becomes overbearing and she’s forced into a career path they want.
Then she meets a boy... father approved... until said boy turns into someone she never expected. She’s worried and doesn’t know what to do.
Her classmate, Olympic swimming hopeful Deshawn Bell, tries to help her, even though her situation appears hopeless from every angle. He's kind and sexy as hell. Their attraction to each other is intense. But neither of them are prepared for the hidden danger their relationship presents.
Find out what happens to Janice and Deshawn in the new adult thriller from Leslie Johnson. Love, Lies and Deceit is the first book of a series.

OMG this book, there are no words to describe this book and the suspense that it leaves your heart in, and will leave you waiting not so patiently for the next book in the series.

All Janice wanted to do was finish college and go into a profession that she doesn't want to do, just to please her parents and then save enough money to go to school and do what she really wants. When she meets a boy at her first frat party, she thinks he is the one and even introduces him to her father. Tony even seems perfect to her father, but when Janice starts hearing things about what Tony really does for a living, she decides that it would be best for them to go their separate ways. This does not work so well when Tony plants something in her room that gets her expelled from school and makes her father think less of her. Janice further disappoints her father when she is seen with Deshawn, her new boyfriend of color. Deshawn wants to help Janice to clear up the mess that got her expelled from school, will it be too late when he gets to her???? And will Deshawn and Janice be able to make their relationship work even without her fathers approval???

This book has left me chewing my nails with suspense waiting to find out what will happen to Janice, cant wait for book two.

This is one of those books that is so full of suspense that it will keep you on the edge of your seat for what feels like eternity! Leslie Johnson really has outdone herself with this one it truly was outstanding the characters and storyline were both brilliant. The emotions were like a non-stop rollercoaster ride and let me say you honestly felt what these characters were going through, the anger, sadness, passion, every. single. emotion.

The connection between Janice and Deshawn is so incredible I love the buildup that takes place in the story between the two, the fact that it isn't rushed and it takes course over time, its refreshing to see. This is one of those books that will suck you in right from the beginning and hold you there all the way until the end and she ends with a bang literally, she ends with one of her famous cliff hangers but don't worry I'm sure she will have the next one out to us before too long!

If you haven't had the opportunity to download this book and read it yet don't wait it was amazing!

As a fan of Johnson's firefighter books I was really excited to read this one. It's different in that it's a college setting with a naive young lady and her rich family. The female characters we usually get are strong and independent, willing to fight for everything. Janice just seems to be weak and gullible. Janice likes the first guy to pay attention to her but she's not picking up on some really obvious clues. She's very intelligent and a likeable character but she wanted attention too badly to see the obvious. Her dad doesn't want to see the facts and listen to her which is odd considering he's a doctor in the psych field. It felt too predictable and I was slightly annoyed with the storyline. I'm curious how it's going to work out, since it's a serial. My copy was given for my honest review.

You would think you'd get used to cliffhangers by now but nope, and Leslie Johnson seems to do it every time. She gets you hooked and you are left hanging........

Janice is a freshman and a little naive to the world around her, but her naivety is shown when she meets Tony who is in his 5th year and no major but he runs a successful business around the campus, but it's only after meeting Deshawn Bell the star swimmer and he admits he has had feelings for Janice for a long time. Now with all the info on Tony she feels she has to end things but things only go from bad to worse for Janice when she does. Now in a fight to clear her name Janice agrees to get Tony to confess but things don't go as planned.

Now eagerly waiting in book two

I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is another great book by Leslie Johnson. I started reading her firefighter books and loved them. This book is different from those books but it is great in it's own ways.

I was a little unsure of Janice at first, but then I thought back to being a freshman in college and I'm sure there would have been similar situations where I would have been as naive as she was. The drama was great and there was good suspense, so good I couldn't put it down when I started reading.

I can't wait to see what volume 2 has in store!

I am not impressed with this story. A sheltered, home schooled girl is forced into a college major by her parents. By the end of her 1st term she is betrayed by an ex-boyfriend and her father. We are left with a cliffhanger ending.

I like Leslie Johnson's writing. I am just not sure I like this story. I will have to read more to see if the story improves.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book in a series, but the action gets started right away. It is about Janice Fisher, a college coed, Deshawn Bell, an African-American college student who is practicing to be on the Olympics Swimming team and Tony, who turns out to be someone that Janice doesn't expect.

The lives of these three people become intertwined in a way that naive, sheltered Janice could never have imagined. Although Janice's father approves of Tony, he turns out to be the antagonist in the book. Deshawn, who is a solid, clean boy with a good heart, I disliked by Janice's father because he is African-American.

Once I started this book, I could not put it down. Janice seems to be lost in a maze that she has no idea how she entered it and has even less idea of how to get out. This novellete ends in an unbelievable cliffhanger! Now I am impatiently waiting for book 2.

One of the reasons I love Leslie Johnson's books is because, even though they have graphic, realistic, but never gratuitous sex, there is always a wonderful story with many different plots and loads of action! Great book!

Volume One of Love, Lies, Deceit by Leslie Johnson is the start to an interesting new series. Janice Fisher, a college freshman has led a sheltered life. Her parents insist she follow a certain path to achieve their mutual dreams for her future. The problem is she does not want to follow that path, but since her parents are footing the bill, it leaves her little choice in the matter.

Janice has had a rather uneventful first semester, until she meets Tony. He is the go to guy on campus. Janice is caught up in all the nuances that surround him. But will her trust in Him lead her astray.

Leslie Johnson has definitely peeked my interest in this new series. I enjoyed the build up of characters as well as the twists and turns in the plot. I will definitely be looking forward to what happens next in this series!

Given to me for an honest review. Janice is at a frat party with a classmate. She meets Tony when he spills beer down her back. He's good looking. Her friend checks with her before leaving to talk to Deshawn who is a celebrity. He won a swimming match for the college and he made it to finals of a World Swimming Cup. Tony seems like a great guy and has business connections with a lot of the the college kids. Her roommate makes comments about Tony's business. She and Deshawn have a report to for a class. He finds out she is hanging with Tony. Deshawn tells Janice what Tony sells. She can't believe it. He was so polite to her father. What does Tony tell her when he discusses his business with Deshawn? it is so bad that she won't go with Tony anymore. What will Tony do about it?

Leslie Johnson has done it again, this time with the brilliant J Griffin co writing with her. Janice is in college and has met the man of her dreams or so she thinks, she also has a good friend called Deshawn. Janice very quickly realises that Tony is not the boyfriend she thought he was, but when she calls it off things start to go really bad for her. Deshawn reveals his feelings for Janice and they start to date, but is there relationship strong enough to with stand all the bad things that is going to happen in Janice's life thanks to Tony or can they prove her innocence before it's to late. Loved this book and can't wait to read the next book. 5 stars.

Addictive! Being a freshman in college and not into partying, Janice somehow becomes friends with the most amazing hot guy on campus. The problem, Tony is a drug dealer. Soon after, Janice meets up with the incredibly athletic, dark skinned Deshawn and Tony is on the outs. Racial card played, drugs in question...Janice is being torn down by her father. Can Deshawn help clear her innocence? Can he protect her from Tony? Will they be recognized as good or evil? Leslie Johnson has a winner with this series. A great read!

I received Love, Lies, Deceit Volume 1 free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is a good start to a new series. Unlike Leslie Johnson's past series, this one does not involve first responders as primary lead characters. Janice, a naive college freshman, get involved with an upperclassman who has his own 'business." She gets framed, arrested, and expelled from school. She will do whatever it takes to clear her name.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Leslie Johnson.

Janice Fisher is in college and up until recently has lived a very sheltered life away from bad things but when she gets involved with Tony, a senior who is very popular things start to go awry when she breaks things off with him and the cops get involved in her life. Now her life is swirling out of control.

Great characters and story line.

This is for mature romance/thriller readers.

The title says it all. Good girl, good hot boy, bad hot boy, drugs, intrigue, bigotry. Do I have to say anything else? This book introduces us to Janice, a freshman in college and an overall naive girl. She meets Tony, the campus drug dealer and she thinks she's in love. Once she realizes Tony is not as good as he seems, she relies on Deshawn and her life starts falling apart.

Good guy, bad guy. But how do you convince your racist father that the guy he wants you to date is actually the bad guy? He's so bad he's got dirty cops protecting him and layers of "business associates" insulating him. How does Janice stand a chance when her own father doesn't believe he's bad? Nor does he want to believe how good Deshawn is. Sometimes life is just so unfair!

I liked this book but I found it a little slow going in the beginning. I kept reading because usually Leslie's books grab my attention...I was not disappointed after about halfway through. It did leave with a cliffhanger making me want to read Volume 2. I received a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

Great start to a new series. I being a huge fan of Leslie Johnson books felt like it took a lil bit to get into the story but once submerged the characters clicked and The story came alive. Can't wait to see what's in store for Deshawn and Janice.

This book ended nothing like I expected it to. Having read Leslie Johnson's other books, I figured the main female character for this book would be portrayed as stronger than she seems. It's still a great read and I am excited to see how everything turns out in the next book.
