Only Lukas Hawthorne could simultaneously break my spirit, crush my dreams…and make me dripping wet.
He’s a legend on campus—a star athlete with records that’ll never be broken. I always see him on campus walking around with some new hot piece of ass, and I dream about what it would be like to be the one on his arm…
It’s totally unfair to have such an effortlessly handsome grad student as my TA. Who knew economic theory could be so sexy? Problem is, I’ve been so distracted by him all semester that now I’m failing his course, and I need pass if I hope to graduate on time.
He wants to meet with me after class, to discuss how I can make up my grade this summer…extra assignments, private lessons…whatever it takes. But when a disgusting realization is made—our student-teacher sex sessions are permanently interrupted.
Our parents are engaged. They’re madly in love and can’t wait to make me, Lukas, and all of our siblings one big happy family. To make matters worse, we have to endure a family vacation at his father’s lake house. Together. A million miles away from everything.
Thing is, the more inappropriate my desire is for him, the more intensely it burns...and he isn’t shy about meeting me halfway.
According to him, we’re going to defile every room and every surface of his father’s house before we go back to school.
Challenge accepted.

I'm Colleen Masters, author of the Faster Series. Thank you so much for swinging by and checking out my stories! As an indie romance author, your support means everything to me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...
I grew up in Central Jersey, and studied Theatre Arts and English at Monmouth University. (Going to college right next to the beach? Hell yes :D) My dream has always been to make a profession out of writing, so I moved to NYC five years ago and have been working my butt off to make that dream come true ever since. Right now, I'm living on the Upper East Side with my darling fiancé and our corgi, Frodo. (Bit of a lit nerd, what can I say?) All of my friends get such a kick out of my "survival job," but I don't really see my writing as a day job at all--it's way too fun for that!
These books are truly a labor of love, and I'm so happy to share them with you. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
So, things are ramping up in the Hawthorne-Porter world!
Sophie is a college student at Sheridan, studying performing arts. It’s also compulsory for her to take a general subject.
Luke is the TA in her econ class – he’s post-grad and the sub teacher.
While Sophie’s been lusting after him, he’s been stonewalling her. Then one ticking off from Luke leads to an apologetic email from him. A mistaken reply to Luke, instead of forwarding to her friend, leads to an interrupted steamy encounter in a bar between them.
Sophie leaves the next day for a family vacation. Turns out that Luke’s dad is the love interest of her mother. And, they’re about to spend two weeks under the same roof. They decide to play it cool and sneak around.
Plenty of issues here between Sophie, her sisters, and their mother. Ditto for Luke, his brothers, and their dad.
Tensions simmer in this hot second instalment of this trilogy. I really enjoyed this story about Sophie and Luke – they are really going for what they want until certain decisions throw a spanner in the works for them. They have great chemistry and I really like them as people, just as I liked Cash and Maddie in the first book.
The plot is thickening and thoroughly looking forward to reading the final book to find out how everything’s resolved.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review & I loved Luke & Sophie's story. You can rely on Colleen Masters to create strong characters, often with quirky foibles & these two are no exception; their attraction to each other is off the charts but then, suddenly, along comes the rest of their families... This is book 2 in the Hawthorne Brothers trilogy, with one more book to come - nad I am impatient for the final in this series. Even if you didn't read Stepbrother Bastard, you should definitely go back & read it as well as Stepbrother Broken - it's a guaranteed "good read"
this book is the second book of theHawthorne-Porters. were we follows Luke and Sophie. If you have not read the first book,I recommend you to. Sophie has had the host for her TA all semester. And Luke is uke is the TA in her econ class – he’s post-grad and the sub teacher. Am not gonna spoil anything but give my say about it. The book was a ok read,I liked it and am waiting for the last book in the series.
I cannot stand some of the voices the narrator from Audible does for the females in this book and the fem protag acts/speaks/thinks like an immature 16year old while the male protag acts/thinks like he’s 30 which makes her even more annoying. I’m too irritated by her and their asinine conversations to continue.
I love this authors writing. The characters have depth and growth. The story lines are very convincing. You can feel what the characters feel and they mystery is there to keep you on the edge. I can't wait for the next book. The only reason this was not five stars was the end. There is a cliffhanger, but this is a long story and a family series. Overview. Might have spoilers. Sophie is a performing artist. She's into dancing, drama, singing and acting. She puts it all out there and only does minimal for her other classes. So when she shows up late again to her econ class, the TA Luke Hawthorne tells her she has more potential and should focus on an education too. She is mad at "professor Sexy Pants". Luke even tryst to apologize for his behavior through an email. Sophie forwards the email to her best friend Danny, but Danny doesn't get it. Instead, professor Sexy Pants does and calls it to her attention while out at a public bar. But soon they find themselves lip locked in the bathroom. If Danny had not been in trouble, they would have went too far. End of the term they go their ways for a few weeks before summer classes start. But when Sophie shows up at the lake house to see her mom, she is shocked to know her mom was dating John. John has 3 sons who show up; Cash, Jimmy, And Luke aka professor Sexy Pants. They keep their relationship under wraps. That is until her mom decides that she was going to sale their child home and move in with John. Sophie and Luke storm off, Maddie, Sophie's sister and Cash rush off too. Everyone is fighting. (No reference to little sis Anna and Jimmy and what happens to them during the family fight). Madrid decides to be the Big Sis and call her sister Sophie and tell her about her and Cash and ask what happened to her and Luke. But will the future work for the 4of them when they meet up? Will they be able to resolve the family issue or will there be more surprises?
This is the second book in the series. It follows Luke and Sophie. Even through it says Stepbrother broken, they are no way related. It's all in their heads. Sophie has had the host for her TA all semester. She is asked to stay after class and he puts her down for her dreams. Her TA is Luke. Sophie gets an email after from him apologizing. She forward to Her BFF, at least she thinks she does. It's the end of the semester, so they had to a bar. Who does she run into, but Luke. After a good talk from Danny, she takes matters into her own hands. They get hot and heavy in the bathroom before hell breaks out. End of story, nope. Time for the family vacation, she heads out but constantly thinking of Luke. She texts him and they have a steamy night. Time to meet everyone. If you have read the first book, you know what happens. This is just the story of Luke and Sophie. They think they are hiding the relationship from everyone. More craziness goes down but Sophie is ready to stop hiding. That doesn't happen and Luke disappears. After Maddie gets the full story and tells Sophie about her and Cash. They come up with a plan to get Luke back. Ends with a cliffhanger and can't wait to see Annie's book and how this story ends. If you are looking for something a bit steamy but a good romance. pick this up, it's worth it.
Sophie's had a crush on her TA, Luke, since she laid on eyes on him. She accidentally shows up late to his last lecture of the semester. At the end of class he has her stay late and talks to her about how she could have done better in his class. She brushes him off and leaves. Later on, she runs into him at a bar and they hook up in the bathroom. They were not able to finish the deal because of extenuating circumstances. She's bummed nothing happened but has to leave to vacation with her family anyway. She's meeting her mom and sisters at a lake house in Montana. She finds out that her mother is staying with a man and that his sons are coming to the lake house too. It turns out that Luke is one of his sons. Then the story goes from there...
This is from Sophie's POV. I did like this book better than the first because Sophie has a lot more confidence than her sister Maddie. Some of the scenes from Maddie's book are the same but in Sophie's POV. I thought it would get too redundant but it didn't. There was enough new perspective for it.

This is the second book in the Hawthorne Brothers Series it's Luke and Sophie's story and I couldn't have loved it more than I did it was absolutely wonderful. These two characters were absolutely adorable together Sophia is attending Sheridan were Luke happens to be a TA in one of her courses. Sophia has been crushing on Luke since the beginning of the class and can't seem to stop fantasizing about him. Their hot and steamy encounter on the celebration of the last day of classes Sophie can't help but finally give in to her attraction and let her guard down for her incredibly sexy professor. Things will only get more complicated before they even begin to start improving for this captivating couple. The ending will leave you breathless, I can't wait to figure out what will happen with all the characters in this series now that certain revelations will impact their life's dramatically. A very intriguing series full of drama and sexy men who will win a piece of your heart.
Luke and Sopie meet while Luke took over teaching for one of Sophie's professors, these characters are opposites in a lot of ways but there is a strong connection.that they decide to act on. While on a summer break, they are reunited at the home of Luke's father who Sophie's mom is having a relationship with. Sophie and her sisters are having a strained relationship with their mother as well as Luke and his brothers have a strained one with their father. It's during this week that feelings are.exposed and hurt that has been witheld finally comes to the surface. After a tense day at the lake house Luke takes Sophie back to campus and leaves, claiming that things are over between them. Three very lonely weeks later Sophie is contacted by her sister who is dating Luke's brother Cash with a plan to reunite both Luke and Sophie. This is my fourth boom by this author and I have enjoyed her writing very much. Her storylines are believeable and she writes a certain depth to her characters that get you invested in their lives.
Sophie wants to become an actress and will do all she can to get recongised. She doesn't have time for fun or any distraction when her career is on the line. Her only distraction is the sexy teacher who teachers one of her lessons. Doesn't help that she is failing that course.
2 weeks away from temptation and to focus on her upcoming exams no problem. Until she realizes her fantasy of MR Hawthorne in the flesh will be staying at the same house as her for 2 weeks.
Lukas has always been the responsible one out of his 2 brothers. So when his dad pulls a family reunion at the family lake house. Lukas is not happy to discover his dad is dating Sophies mum. And to top it all off shes their in the flesh.
With secretes hidden and bad blood between the familys can Sophie and Lukas become an item or will they leave their heart broken. Read to find out
Sophie Porter is taking two weeks, before her summer classes begin, to visit her mother and sisters in Montana. Sophie can't forget her interrupted hook-up with her sexy professor, and is hoping that when she gets back she will be able to have her way with the man. When she gets to Montana she meets the man that her mother has been staying with, then she gets to meet his three sons. Sophie is floored when one of the brothers turns out to be none other than the sexy professor she has the hots for, Lukas Hawthorne. The first week ends with the three Porter sisters, and the three Hawthorne brothers angry at their parents and leaving Montana. After a week of sneaky, sexy trysts, Lukas drives Sophie back to her college dorm and disappears. I loved this book, it's fantastic!
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review
I loved this story as much as I loved the first one in the series... WOW! HOT!!
let me just say that the parents are a waste of space. I can't stand John and Robin with that being said, I'm loving the way each story is giving us a little bit more of the secrets that are lurking ...can not wait to find out what is going on with the Hawthornes. I also enjoy how the family dynamics are complicated and there's a story there as well...we have depth and the characters have substance
I absolutely loved Sophie and Luke's story, the struggle they have with Luke being her TA and then finding out their parents are an item, again. I'm waiting (not so) patiently for the next book in the series. hopefully there are HEA's all around!
We got a hint that something was up with Luke and Sophie in the first book about Maddie and Cash...and I really liked their story a lot as well. These little "step" romances are fun and sexy and full of steamy angst...but I really love the family dynamics of this group of brothers and sisters. They are a fun read and filled with likeable characters...you just have to go with the fantasy elements and unreal coincidences (seriously because they all meet each other before coming together at the parents cabin) and enjoy the books for the sweet romances they are on their own. A steamy and at times, funny sequel...bring on the third couple! I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
**** 4 **** "dancing her way into his heart" stars
You get the impression that Sophie and Luke know each other in book 1 but this book gives you their story and how they met. Storyline will keep you intrigued, is well written and steamy hot. Totally love the interaction between the characters and the family dynamics. Luke and Sophie met at school with him being a fill-in instructor and her a student. They end up with mutual attraction and have chemistry just by being in the room together. Their characters for me just click. Love how they go behind everybody back thinking they are keeping their relationship a secret but a few figure it out. Let me say book 2 does not disappoint and will make you want more in this series especially since it ends with a cliffhanging ending. Received an ARC copy from author for a honest review.
I am a huge fan of Colleen Masters books and this one did not disappoint. The Hawthorne brothers are hot and now that I have read about Cash and Luke I can't wait to read about Finn. Sophia and Luke are off the charts together! There was a point in this book where I wanted to throw my kindle because of Luke, (no worries, its safe) I just cussed him out in my head instead. He later redeemed himself! The ending is a doozy and makes me want the third installment as soon as possible. In the meantime I guess I will chomp at the bit until Finn's tale is available! I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!
Kindly provided with an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.....
STEAMY CHEMISTRY !!!
This is book 2 in the series and is Sophie & Luke's story, its full of up's and down's in our couples journey to finding each other.
Well written dialogue, plot and character development. Thoroughly enjoyable read.
I would defiantly recommend this book and book 1 for any lovers of strong Hero's and heroines, gritty storylines that feature family and love. All together a damn excellent book that leaves you itching for the next one.
Many thanks Colleen for this opportunity and keep these beauties coming.
Wow!! Okay folks Colleen Masters has done it again! This is another great read from her!! In so loving these stepbrother romance books of hers! Luke was absolutely mouth watering!! I was completely hooked from the first chapter! I mean come on! I was at the edge of my seat! Lol there were definitely some laugh out loud moments and some that had me gritting my teeth! The family dram was crazy and unexpected! This is definitely a book you don't wanna miss out on! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I received this arc in exchange for an honest review.
I know i'm biased but I love Colleen's work, this serie it's fantastic and the characters are full of surprises. Luke and Sophia story it's sweet and hot. They are great together. Luke really love Sophie, and protects her how he can. The taboo in this story isn't really a taboo, so is nice to read and is easy to enjoy the ride with them in every page you turn. Make your self a cup of tea and enjoy reading a book that is emotional, sweet and smoking hot. This book is an ARC given to me in exchange of an honest review
Sophie is finishing up Junior year of college. With one last class with Professor Sexy Pants, she can begin her summer. A chance meeting and some inappropriate fun interrupted, leaves Sophie questioning her sanity. Simple truth is she can't get Luke off her mind. Embarking on a two week family vacation, she hopes to find clarity but boy is she in for a surprise.
Family is now more complicated than ever before...
Maddie and Cash are back as supporting roles in the Hawthorne/Porter drama. Sophie and Luke are starring in this book.
After reading about Cash. I thought the Hawthorne men and their stories couldn't top his. Well I was wrong. I loved Luke. From the very beginning when he and Sophie had their first tryst to the end. They had such great chemistry. The ending although somewhat expected had a little twist to it. I know look forward to Finn's story and to see where these two families that are entangled together will end up!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved this second book of the Hawthorne Brothers series and I love that it covers the same period of time as book one. It's fun to see a bit of Cash and Maddie from Sophie's viewpoint, as well as all of the events at the lake house that transpired in Stepbrother Bastard. I love Sophie and Lukas as a couple because they have so much chemistry. This is a great well-written series and I am looking forward to book three.
Well I really liked the writing and the underlying relationships of these characters. I don't, however, think the Stepbrother part was necessary at all. In fact I think I would have liked the characters a lot more without that being such a huge deal in the story line. I found myself saying "who cares" a lot when they stressed over something that seems to be not a BFD.
But still I liked the characters and the chemistry made this a fun read.
This is a standard stepbrother story, with a little teacher/student romance mixed in. Sophie has had a crush on her TA for a while now. On her last night something finally happens. But then her best friend gets in a fight, and they have to help him. The next time they meet, Sophie and Maddie have to find their stepbrother and tell them dinner is ready. These two have great chemistry. The ending in this book was better than the last one, still an open ending though.
This was a good follow-up to book #1 in the series. But wow, the family dynamics are seriously screwed up. Even more of that was revealed in this book. And the "taboo" of the "step-siblings" just gets more and more intense. It was kind of interesting to see a lot of the same situations from the different sisters' perspectives. And talk about some messed up parents!! It's a wonder any of the kids are sane? Looking forward to the next book to see what the young kids issues are.
This book was really good. Sophie was a great character who is trying to deal with her issues by herself but learns sometimes you have to open up to people to really move on. I really liked Luke, he was the golden boy but proves that what you see isn't always what you get. Both there parents are real bastards though. Received this book for free for an honest review.
I read the first book in the series and love it. Happy to have read this book I love the author work. Sophie and Luke story was just has great has Maddie and Cash was so good didn't want to put it down had to finish reading it. I would recommend this book and the other ones hopefully you will enjoy reading them has much has I did.
Other than a few spelling errors, which is the reason for a 4 star review, I absolutely love how the author is telling the story from each sisters perspective and how the story advances a little more each book so far...can't wait to read the third book to see what happens next! Things are getting juicy!
