A detailed and practical guide for beginners and experienced artists offers comprehensive advice on composing a successful picture and is accompanied by full-color instructions.
The first 30 or so pages have something to offer in terms of demonstrating how to balance compositions. And how to create movement, lead the eye through the painting, etc.
It’s a thin book, generally. I finished it but can’t recommend it.
I was able to skim this entire book in less than an afternoon, mostly reading the captions and mini-descriptions. With that alone, this book is good for base-level introduction for composition. The paintings featured are well-curated as well.
