Widow Lady

Rate this book
Young widow, Katherine Caine, feels like a fish out of water in her neighborhood filled with happy families, or families that appear happy. It’s 1960 and presidential candidate, John Kennedy, is talking about a New Frontier, but Katherine can’t figure out where her personal New Frontier lies or how to get there. Playing a role in a murder plot is not on her list of possibilities, but that is what happens when she gets pulled into a domestic drama in the house across from hers. Soon she is wondering if being isolated from the other residents of Middle Street was such a bad thing. Still, she can’t stop looking for the truth.

I loved this book. I’m old enough to remember many of the 1960s details and she got them right. The characters are well-developed. I was happily rooting for the Widow Lady to solve her dilemma, but it certainly didn’t go quite the way I anticipated. The plot is entertaining and comes with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I laughed out loud in many spots. A truly fun and entertaining mystery!
