Wake Up To Your True Identity: 144 Empowering Proverbs For People of The African Diaspora

Rate this book
Rewritten from the ground up, the second part of the book series, Wake Up To Your True Identity, is a collection of life-changing proverbs and commentaries, written specifically for black people around the world who were born outside of Africa. Unlike the first book, which taught us about our history and heritage; this book teaches us how to develop our character and spirit.

Ever since being dispersed from Africa, we’ve been indoctrinated by the racist philosophies of our oppressors and have been living by these lies for centuries. As a result of this mis-education, our personal and spiritual growth has been horribly stunted, causing us to be stagnant in almost every arena of our lives. Thus, explaining the continuous state of depression that “black people” seem to have globally.

Contrary to popular belief, a lack of money is NOT the cause of our unhappiness, being mis-educated is. Knowledge is power, and since we have been wrongly taught; we don’t have any power. So this book exists for one reason and for one reason only – to empower my people of the African Diaspora with the knowledge, wisdom and understanding you need to live a peaceful, productive, and purpose-driven life.

So I keep telling myself; “Hind, nothing good comes out of Kindle unlimited”, yet there is a big part of me that refuses to listen. “Buy for free”, I think that is my weakness, and for that I deserve to suffer through a load of garbage such as this one. I refuse to dignify it but calling it a book.

It is supposedly a collection of “proverbs” for people of the African diaspora. Let me quote a couple:

“55. Never trust the words of a black man or woman that has a white spouse”.

“109. Don’t go broke trying to look rich, act your wage”

And my absolute favorite :

“133. Once the African Diaspora wakes up to our true identity and returns back to the covenant of our forefathers, the power of YAH will be given back to us and we’ll be restored back to being rulers over the earth.”

Cool stuff !

I love reading but this is one book I couldn't finish. I couldn't get past the contradictions in the beginning. In studying African history thus far, God is not solely a man or a he. There was a lot of biblical context intertwined in the book. Christianity was brought into the continent, it was not the first religion. In researching most African history and the various areas there, there are many different beliefs. Most Africans are very spiritual and believe in being one with nature and the universe.

On the other hand there are great tips about coming together and supporting each other. Some of the book is true and based on facts that we know from society but there are other questionable statements. Overall it's more of a book for African American Christians than it is for Africans/African Americans who study African spirituality. There needs to be more research and hardly any if any at all of the African Gods/Goddesses were mentioned in the part of the book that I read. The rest I skimmed through.

Excellent read!

I am very thankful for the message received. I ended this book with a renewed sense of self worth. I've always known I was a queen and the information I read in part 1 and 2 of this book substantiated this fact. I recommend this book to any so called African-American seeking knowledge of self.

Good read

Although there are some untrue statements in this book, it is still worth the read. The hate that is stated throughout could have been left out.
