Jail is the last place sixteen-year-old Addison Solomon expected to wind up when she ran away. Not that this is a big her life has been on a downward slide since her drug-addicted aunt died, leaving her alone and penniless.
When her long-lost father appears, whisking her away with him to his mansion and second family in sunny California, Addison soon discovers that her new wealthy relatives are not exactly people she should trust.
OK...This book was twisted, bat shit crazy and all around fucked up in so many wonderful ways. This book draws you in and hooks you from the prologue all the way to the cliffhanger ending. Now all I want is book 2 to see how all this plays out.
Addison is one hell of a strong young woman to endure all that she does. Her family is one sadistic bunch along with the majority of the character's in this book. Half the character's you want to slap and the few that you don't you want to protect.
This is a great read and I am super exited for the next book. Please release soon!!!
This is an amazing book that was very hard to put down. I can't wait for the sequel!! This story tugs at your heartstrings and will bring you to tears. I would recommend this book for fully mature adults. :)
I rated this book with three stars because there were some writing errors in many pages, so that's actually very distracting for me and I just hate it, besides I rated it like that because even though it was a good story I think there was a chance to make it more interesting and capturing. I liked some of the characters and the way the author created a very difficult situation for the main character, however most of them were just nuts. I didn't like that Addison sometimes stood her ground and was able to stay true to herself, but when she couldn't handle it anymore she just complied with whatever crazy thing they would ask her to do. The way the book ends it's definitely not my favorite, huge cliff hanger and lots of loose ends. I recommend the book for someone who wants to read something crazy and definitely twisted.
A good start to an interesting different series. If you are expecting a soppy sweet romance you would be very wrong. The story follows Addison who grew up with her drug addicted mother but when she dies her life is turned upside down when her estranged father walks back into her life and she goes from living hand to mouth struggling to get by to living in a huge house with money to spare but all is not as it seems. Lies, deceit, back stabbing and falsehood run rife through this dark story and Addison quickly learns she can't trust anyone but herself. I liked the fact this story was very different and it was like if you took desperate housewives, revenge, mean girls and a psycho guy threw them in a blender you would get something close to this story. The book is clearly part of a series and doesn't conclusively end nor does it have a HEA and I don't know if the series will have a HEA. The story has triggers and is hard to read at times. The book has some plot holes which could be ironed out with another edit and I think it lacked the rise and fall but instead just descended also found Addison tended to swing up and down with mood swings, most of the time this was understandable but found at times hard to relate to her or even understand her actions as she seemed to deliberately antagonise situations and then get upset when she found consequences to those actions. Overall an interesting start to what could potentially be a good dark series
I really enjoyed book one so far. The emotions of the characters were captivating. I felt the heroine anger, fear, and pain. The storyline is about a girl whose aunt died and was pulled into his biological father scheme to marry her to his boss. I thought this would be a warm and fuzzy book but it is not. The guy turn out to bit psychotic. I liked how the heroine had the courage to not let her situation put her down. Not only she had a back bone she can be badass at times. This book is not for a faint hearted and it does have physical abuse but it's not overdone. I felt Addison struggle and I was rooting for her to get out of certain situations. I was hoping to see more of Quentin for another powerful guy to compete for Addison's affection or to help her. Not crazy about Kevin but having him in the story added another angst. This book definitely does have a lot of angst and emotional turmoil. Not proving details of the sex scenes worked. I can't wait to read book two which is out now. Totally recommend this book especially if you liked Tijan Fallen Crest series except this series can stand on its own since it's edgier, angsty, a bit suspenseful on certain situations that Addison faces, and it doesn't fully focus on romance. Go ahead and try this bok out. Warning though it does end on a Cliffhanger. But so good. A rare read indeed....
Twisted Proposal by MV Miles (book one) What happens when the life you know comes crashing down. Addison is introduced to her Father who she believed to have been dead. It seems her mom and aunt, have kept too many secrets from her. She is also expected to just go home with him and start a new life but something just seems off about this whole situation. Her father Stuart has no backbone and seems to be controlled by his boss and boss’s son, Jackson. Jackson definitely has a few screws missing and his obsession is weird. In fact the lives of the rich seem to be full of mistrust and dark secrets which all seem to revolve around Addison. The plot is full of secrets that are being unravelled slowly to keep your attention. The characters you can relate to. You will feel emotions for Addison who is basically trapped and expected to live a life that has been set out for her, her opinion does not matter. Overall this seems to be a good story but you are left on a cliff-hanger. Looking forward to the next book. Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls Book Blog
The story is interesting and the plot is good but there are flaws with this tale. One is the constant change with the heroine's attitude. One minute she is standing her ground and not mincing her words then the next she is meek and controlled. Still I kept turning the pages to seek out more from this angst family drama. Even with grammar issues there was just something that appealed to me about how these characters lived and decided the lives of those around them. I like this story and am interested to find out how this will all play out in the next book. Hopefully the third book will be out soon...
Addison's story of dealing with her father's family and social circle makes me wonder about families of this nature in real life. From what I observed throughout reading this novel, Miles put a lot of thought into writing this and clearly did his research. The problems the family faces and the type of life women have to deal with in this social setting are realistic and can be relative to some readers. For those who love twists, I recommend this novel.
I was a bit bummed to find out that this is not a stand alone book and the second book is not yet out. There are a lot of creepy characters and plot twists in this book. I was hoping that the main character would find the light at the end of the tunnel and every time it looked like she might, it was snatched away from her. It was an interesting read and unexpected. Not sure I will wait around to read the second book though. This one has a MAJOR cliffhanger!!!
I made it to chapter 3 and had to stop. After the recent rash of dramatic/immature heroine's that I've read lately, I couldn't stomach her behavior. The premise still seems interesting so maybe I'll come back to it eventually, but for now it seems to be time for me to read about characters my age.
This book definitely keeps you the edge of your seat. The violence though pushed me over the edge. I would not recommend this to any young woman still trying to find herself. The heroine is a poor role model.
