Alex Balder is a bitter and jaded man. With an acrimonious divorce and the loss of his job as a respected Fleet Street reporter, he feels even more of a failure, not just at life, but as a human being. Unable to relate to anyone or anything, and barely clinging onto his job at a small local newspaper in Liverpool, he can’t understand what went wrong or why he feels so different from others around him. That is until he’s returning home from a late night assignment and everything changes.
Instinctively intervening in a brutal crime he sees taking place, Alex opens up a whole new world he would never have believed existed. What was that ugly, vicious, repulsive thing that he’d been fighting, and who were the strange people watching from the shadows? From that moment, Alex is whisked away into a dark and dangerous existence where he must learn to battle an ancient evil straight from myth and legend. Can Alex accept his new reality, and has he finally found purpose in the role he’s now required to carry out?

Hello it is lovely to meet you, thank you for looking at my profile and for showing an interest in my stories. I am from the UK and I have very bad dyslexia so I get a lot of help and I mean a lot of help getting the stories from head to Paper. I also have a number of other health problems and my mind races constantly so again I need a lot of help getting the thoughts from from head to Paper. To all who help me I would like to say a massive thank you. I try to get messages across in my stories and so far they seem to be getting through which is awesome.
I was very kindly sent this book in exchange for an honest review.
here goes..... This story is essentially a paranormal, historical fantasy adventure. It is about good vs evil in a realistic setting. How good and evil lines can easily blur, and how it is not as cut and dry as we are often shown in books, TV and films. The story is about Vampires and Angels, a unique theme in and of itself you have to agree, but the themes in this book run much deeper than this. I felt like I was reading the holy grail of texts.
Although the story has quite heavy themes of religion and the wars they cause, it is essentially about humanity, our central character a saviour for mankind. Plenty of action keeps you turning the pages, there is a lot of graphic violence, but this does not shock or offend as its not distasteful and really adds to how gripping the story is. Especially when we learn about the origin of the Vampires and who the head vampire is. Will keep you reading into the early hour's. This author writes his characters so realistically I want to meet them and join the team. This is the second book of his I have read and both have been amazing. I can safely say I would be interested in anything he writes. Im so happy and lucky I was chosen to review this, a hidden gem. This is not a modern vampire tale, and really pays homage to Bram Stokers Dracula, and also ancient Greek mythology so if you enjoy any of these themes and like me you find history, mythology, and the paranormal fascinating I fully recommend. Also if you like an excellent narrative, amazing characterisations, deep intelligent political, religious themes, that packs nail biting edge of your seat action , order this today.
One final note:The Grigori are based on an elite group of angels, not to be confused with the Grigoi in the strain.
I must say that this book was quite a breath of fresh air. Author P. J. Ferguson's writing is not only witty but brings a sense of mischief and mystery to life with each turn of the page. Being a lover of Ancient Greek Mythology myself I was intrigued and impressed with the Nefarious version of the Ancient stories we've all come to know. This Novel is more than just Good vs. Evil. It's about the power of truly believing in oneself and accepting your path in life and rising above and beyond to fight to protect that in which you love.
This book was absolutely gripping, so much so that i completed it within 24 hours. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys escapism through reading. The writer transports you fully into the world of the grigori and takes you on their journey with them. I demand a follow up from the writer ASAP!

Alex Balder is a middle aged, miserable man. He is angry at the world and all of humanity for how is life has turned out. Then he witnesses a horrendous crime, one done by something that is obviously not human. He is pulled into the world of the Grigori, one where angels and vampires exist. Now, Alex must decide if he is going to accept his destiny and save all of man kind.
Right from the first page I was drawn into the book and was instantly hooked. Going into the book mostly blind, other than knowing that vampires were some how involved, I found the book rather exciting to see how everything unfolded. Unlike P.J's other book 'Daddy' which starts off fairly slow, I found that this one started with a bang right from the start! I found the twists and turns of the mythology and religious aspects of the book to be very interesting and I liked his rendition of the stories! I find P.J's writing to be equally mesmerizing as it is witty. Some of the one liners the characters have in the book had me smiling from ear to ear and chuckling to myself. I recommend this book to those who want a thrilling yet interesting story that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time!
The mythology was by far one of my favorite aspects. I went through a huge phase where I absolutely loved the TV show Supernatural, and the fact that this book was so strongly impacted by the elite class of Grigori angels was something that really caught my attention. It was also written so much differently from typical stories of angels, which was something else that I truly enjoyed. It wasn't something recycled from the many others in the genre but something new and inventive and so creatively done.
