Commander Mitch Bolton has just been assigned an intriguing mission: live in an underground facility for the next two years with the best of the best from every military branch to participate in a top secret super solider project. He and his men are to be regularly injected with a serum developed from ancient records and monitored constantly. The founder of the drug, Dr. Regina Coombs, is one of the scientists living on-site. The longer the project goes on, the more that the two realize that they might not be the participants of a research project, but rather its victims.

The bones of this story had the potential to be very interesting, but I found the connective tissue to be lacking. Maybe it was just me, but I struggled to keep track of things from the beginning. What locations characters were presently in. How much time was passing. Who all was in the room. What role the characters played in relation to one another. Why some people were suddenly introduced as having paranormal abilities that existed pre-serum. I just felt lost a bit too frequently and couldn’t understand why Regina was behaving so illogically considering she was smart enough to reproduce a centuries-old formula based on very little information.

It is fast paced and yet for me it was hard to follow. The writing is superb and I found I was having a hard time following the story. It is fast paced but it is also a bit overwhelming. I have not read this author in this genre before. The author is a great writer and the story flowed but like I said I had a hard time following which way the author wanted me to go. Would I recommend it? Well it depends, Does the reader want a visually fast paced military erotic story that is on the verge of paranormal? Then yes. I myself hope that the next one will be available to read as I think there is more to this than the author expressed in this one.

Fun read full of secrets, danger and heat

This is a well written story by a new-to-me author and I'm glad I got to check out this book. I loved the plot for this story and how some special dna helped choose the soldiers for this experiment. Of course, nothing goes as planned and tension from the secrets and danger had me twitching with how things would come together. Add in the serious heat between Mitch and Regina, well, expect to be fanning yourself madly while you follow these two on their crazy adventure.

This book 1 in the Drakken Brotherhood Series has a very well-written plot, characters and a HEA. The characters are well crafted with good chemistry and interactions. This book is a standalone book but you can read more about this world with the books to come, which I want to read. I loved the characters and how they interact and react with each other. There are many twists and turns to this story. a good read

This is Mitch (Drakken Brotherhood Book 1)by Carol Shaughnessy and I loved this read. It's a fast paced well written with characters that have a great chemistry, it's a fun light entertaining read that you won't be disjointed in. It's Regina and Mitch's story in which they are working in a research lab, but are they really the victims of this project, it's a great read that I can't wait to read more.
