From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Zoe York comes another standalone Pine Harbour Christmas novel, the perfect spicy holiday treat for second chance romance fans...

Cassie and Nate broke up eleven months ago. On Christmas Eve! So there's zero chance that Cassie's giving Nate a second chance. Not even after an accidental make out session in the supply room of her new shop. The helicopter pilot is too emotionally unavailable for the creative wild child, end of story.

So when her mom invites her ex to Christmas Eve dinner, Cassie has no choice but to invent the fact that she has a date for the holiday...and find a date...and then survive that dinner when Nate brings a date of his own.

Nate, of course, doesn't want anyone but Cassie. He's just trying to hold on to the last remnants of his sanity as he watches his wife slip further and further away. This Christmas, he has one last chance to show her he wants more, he wants to be more, for her. He wants to be her everything.

But proving that is easier said than done with Minellis, and dates, around every corner at the Little Tree Farm.

Holiday Chaos, Second Chances, and Plenty of chemistry and very spicy!

I loved the holiday chaos and family meddling, and all the back and forth between Cassie and Nate! Their chemistry was undeniable, and I was rooting for these two to stop dancing around their feelings and finally find their way back to each other.

What I especially appreciated was the realistic look at marriage struggles, miscommunication, and emotional distance. Their journey was about more than physical attraction; it took honest conversations, effort, and a willingness to work through the things that drove them apart. I loved seeing them reconnect and rediscover what made them fall in love in the first place.

The perfect mix of heartfelt moments, laugh-out-loud holiday fun, jealousy, and some seriously spicy scenes! Cozy, flirty, festive, and HOT SPICINESS! I had such a great time with this and I'm already looking forward to Book 3!

Listen and Read on release date 11 / 03 /2026.

This was such a fun and sweet holiday rom-com! Second chance romance isn't usually my favorite trope, but this one was done so well. I loved Cassie's family and how they still welcomed Nate even though the two were separated. Watching Cassie and Nate realize where their marriage went wrong and learn to communicate better made this story even sweeter.

The audiobook was really well done! I loved having dual narrators, and Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a great job bringing the characters to life. A quick, heartwarming holiday read that I really enjoyed!

Quick Summary: An I Want You Back second chance romance

My Review: The Holidate Disaster by Zoe York is book #2 in the Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm series. It is categorized as "General Fiction (Adult) | Romance." The novel is scheduled for release on 11/3/26.

About the Book: Cassie and Nate broke up eleven months ago.

There's zero chance that Cassie's giving Nate a second chance. Not even after an accidental make out session in the supply room of her new shop.

This Christmas, he has one last chance to show her he wants more, he wants to be more, for her. He wants to be her everything."

In My Own Words: An impulsive oops conversation leads to separation between a rescue pilot and a hometown girl/businesswoman. Can a holiday miracle lead to a second chance for two people who long for more?

About the Audiobook: The Holidate Disaster was narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. This duo did an amazing job. I was quite thoroughly entertained the entire time. They never missed a beat.

Reasons I Enjoyed This Book:

🚁- I genuinely liked both leads. Cassie and Nate were great people who needed to grow. Despite the age gap and the possible impulsive start to their forever love situationship, they had strong feelings for each other. They were like fire and ice, yet it worked. In the end, they were quite similar.

🐾 - I loved the found family angle that was presented in the story. Cassie's family in addition to the community extension of that family played a huge part in the story. I loved how they chose to embrace Nate despite what had occurred with the couple. I like how they were involved...some were hands off and some, as the saying goes, were very much hands on.

🩹 - On the flip side of things, I actually liked seeing the disconnect and dysfunction that existed between Nate and his parents. It largely revealed why he was the way he was. It was like he was surviving and in need of his own rescue. I think in a way, Cassie's opposite personality and nature aspects allowed her to, in a sense, rescue him. He did not know what to do with all his feelings, until he actually did. He was shaped then reshaped by all of it.

❤️‍🔥 - I appreciated the steamy wit and playful banter between partners. I definitely saw it between Cassie and Nate. There were also glimpses into these same dynamics with other characters.

💗 - I loved the slow-quick burn pacing, the will they/won't they tension, the friendly romantic gestures and actions, and the HEA that was inevitable in the end.

🐶 - I have to say the Pet Parade had me smiling from ear to ear. It was a small scene that made a big splash. It represented Cassie's pivotal maturation and grind towards success.

🌀 - I loved seeing the character growth. Both had to put in the work. In the end, it paid off. What they went through was necessary.

💬 - Communication and the idea of seeing-you-even-as-you-see-me were two beautiful life lessons emphasized in this book. It was nice to see the build up from the before to the after stage. That made everything real.

🎄 - I super loved the holiday ho ho ho play. It was such a nice touch. (That Xmas gaming & gifting were way cool and earned extra points with me.)

My Final Say: What a ride! It was definitely a hot and bothered read. It had a kick of salty, sweet, and spicy. Though light on drama, it told the kind of when-you-cannot-help-but-to-get-real-with-your-feelings story that exists between a husband and a wife. It was short but memorable. It's a keeper.

Other: Readers who enjoy holiday romances, glow up success stories, and small town love scenarios will like this story.

*** A Special Note on the Cover: The flannel shirt edition is the better choice of the two covers. The other version with the male on the book cover is not giving; it is taking...a lot to get past the brooding glare. ***

This was a fun holiday rom-com, loved Cassie's close and meddling family. It was really sweet watching no nonsense Nate come to realize that a big part of the reason they broke up was because he was listening to Cassie but he wasn't hearing her and what she wanted from their relationship he owned up to his own issues and recognized that he needed to step up, while Cassie recognized that she needed to be more open with what she wanted, he's not a mind reader.

Loved Cassie's family still welcoming Nate even though he was not officially with Cassie.

Will they be able to come back together for the holidays after last years disaster?

This was a shorter book but didn't feel rushed as the couple had an established relationship and were still married just living apart while deciding if they wanted a divorce.

The Narrators Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did a great job bringing this 2nd chance romance to life.

Looking forward to checking out more books in this series.

ALC REVIEW-

A cozy but spicy, cute holiday rom-com! This was a fun, quick read that almost had me wishing it were a little longer. I would’ve loved to learn more about their past relationship, because sometimes the story felt a bit lacking in that area. They clearly have plenty of passion and chemistry, but communication is definitely not their strong suit! 😂 It was sweet to watch them find their way back to each other, though. Overall, a decent, quick holiday read with small-town vibes, second-chance romance, and a family Christmas tree farm! The duet audio was really well done, too. 🎄❤️‍🔥

This was one of my favorite second chance romances ever! I love that they were still married and about to finalize their divorce when they both realized how much they missed about each other and didn’t appreciate enough before. I also loved how Christmas activities and family were what made them want to come back together it just made the book feel so nostalgic and precious and reminded me of all the things we love about the holidays every year. Nate was so sweet with his realizations of all the things he took for granted and didn’t remember about his wife and wanting to prove to her with his words and actions how much she means to him to win her back it was just such a sweet story and reminds you not to take people for granted that are special to you. The narration was so well done too I loved their voices and it brought so much more to the story to listen to them bring it to life! Thank you NetGalley, Zoe York and Victory Editing Coop for the chance to listen to this early!

Audiobook review**
4 star rating!

Overall, I really enjoyed this fast paced, cozy but spicy, holiday romcom! I thought the dual narration by Kai Kennicott and Wren Ross was excellent, they both added so much to this audiobook (in the best way). I thought the pace of the story line was quite fast, at times I fear it almost felt rushed, but it did not ruin the overall enjoyment of this audiobook for me.

Nate at times can be a frustrating character with his poor communication skills and not meeting the most basic needs of his now ex-wife, Cassie, but at other times you feel for him and his harder past that lead to that lack of skill development. However, I do truly love a second chance trope and this one did not disappoint in that.

Spice level was perfect, I would rate it about a 2/5- no lack of chemistry between the two.

Although this is the second book in Zoe York's Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm, it is considered a standalone novel. I am looking forward to continuing with the remainder of her books after this ALC.

Story: 4.25 stars
Audiobook: 3.5 stars

Cute, fluffy, and spicy! I really enjoyed following Cassie and Nate as they worked through the feelings that remained after their separation.

Nate’s pining was a major part of the story’s appeal. Even before I fully understood what had gone wrong in their marriage, I found myself rooting for him. He seemed genuinely sorry for his mistakes and wanted what was best for Cassie, even as he desperately hoped to win her back. His POV also made it clear that their attraction was still very much alive. That man has some dirty thoughts! 🤭

The Christmas setting and the awkwardness of navigating a family celebration with an ex added to the fun, especially after Cassie impulsively announced that she was bringing a date without actually having one.

I think I would have enjoyed this more as a physical book or ebook. The story was a lovely, light romance, but the audiobook performance didn’t always match how I imagined the scenes.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary audiobook. All opinions are my own.

The Holidate Disaster: Flannel Shirt Edition by Zoe York

⭐ Story: 4/5
🎧 Narration: 4.25/5

What a cute, cozy, and delightfully chaotic little Christmas Romance! 🎄❤️

The Holidate Disaster: Flannel Shirt Edition delivers a charming Second Chance Romance filled with holiday festivities, meddling family members, lingering feelings, and plenty of chemistry.

Cassie and Nate have been separated for nearly a year, but it’s obvious their feelings for one another haven’t disappeared. When Christmas Eve rolls around and they’re suddenly faced with bringing dates to the same family gathering, things get hilariously complicated. Beneath all the awkwardness and jealousy, however, there’s a genuinely heartfelt story about two people trying to figure out whether their marriage deserves another chance.

One thing I particularly appreciated was how the miscommunication was handled. Generally speaking, the miscommunication trope is not one of my favorites, especially when an entire relationship conflict could be resolved with a single honest conversation. But in this case, I thought it felt surprisingly realistic.

In a marriage or long-term relationship, communication problems aren’t always about two people refusing to talk. Sometimes they’re the result of years of misunderstandings, unspoken expectations, emotional distance, and patterns that develop gradually over time. Add a separation into the mix, and suddenly those conversations become even more complicated. I appreciated that Cassie and Nate’s struggles felt rooted in the history of their relationship rather than manufactured simply to create drama.

I also loved that their connection went beyond physical attraction. There’s clearly still love between them, but love alone doesn’t necessarily fix the things that caused a relationship to fall apart. Watching them navigate those unresolved feelings while rediscovering what brought them together in the first place made their story both sweet and believable.

Of course, the Christmas setting adds plenty of charm! Between the family meddling, awkward dates, humor, and romantic tension, this was an entertaining holiday listen that delivered exactly the cozy, festive atmosphere I was hoping for.

As for the audiobook, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were excellent! Their duet narration brought so much personality and emotion to the characters, and their performances complemented each other beautifully. The chemistry translated wonderfully to audio, and they captured both the lighter comedic moments and the more vulnerable conversations. Duet narration is always my preference, and this was another great example of why!

Overall, this was a sweet, funny, and heartfelt Second Chance Romance that managed to make a trope I don’t typically enjoy feel authentic to the characters and their circumstances. A lovely little holiday escape with just enough emotional depth to make the reconciliation meaningful.

Thank you to ZoYo Press, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this ALC!

This is the second book in a series, but I did not read the first book and did not feel lost. Much like similar series, each book seems to focus on a different couple in a group. This one focuses on Cassie and Nate, who are almost 1 year into their separation, and divorce papers seem to be imminent. Cassie and Nate had a recent clash of mouths in an intimate one-off. Shortly after, Cassie's mom invited Nate to Christmas since he was all alone. Cassie and Nate really haven't talked, but it's clear they still have feelings. Then Cassie blurts she has a date to the Christmas Eve dinner, she doesn't, and asks him to bring someone as well. As they scramble to find dates they also are trying to become friends. It's all very silly but at the same time, way more heartwarming than I was expecting.
In a second-chance romance, it always seems that they tiptoe around the reasons that the couple didn't work out, but each person in this scenario had to take ownership of their part and work on themselves to be better. The book is short and sweet, and easy to read. I thought this book was going to be heavy on the spice and light on the story (based on the original human cover), but it's really the opposite. It's funny, sweet, and gives you that happy glow when everything comes together. I love that this couple communicates, as that's one of my pet peeves in other rom-coms.
This is a duet narration, which was done amazingly. The actors did a great job bringing their characters to life and really hitting the wit that was written. Overall, this was such a fun story.

This was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy holiday tale about second chance love that had me giggling, grinning, and curling my toes! Get your headphones ready! The duet narration was so damn 🥵

The Holidate Disaster by Zoe York has the perfect holiday rom-com setup! It follows Nate, a helicopter pilot and Cassie, the owner of a newly opened boutique pet shop named Pawsatively (too cute) who have been separated for eleven months. As the holiday season approaches, Cassie’s meddling mom invites Nate to their Christmas dinner. Out of panic, Cassie invents a boyfriend she’s fake dating and going to bring to Christmas dinner. Chaos quickly ensues!

I loved how messy and realistic the family dynamics are. The family games chapter had me giggling out loud so much! I enjoyed how the exploration of separation provided Cassie and Nate the ability to truly appreciate each other, which was so sweet and endearing. Had me rooting for them the whole time.

The duet narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross was perfection! It truly enhanced this novel! Thank you for putting two stellar narrators on my radar!

Thank You, NetGalley & Zoe York, for this ALC. This book was so funny & filled with hilarious banter between Cassie & Nate. Cassie & Nate have been estranged for the past 11 months & are almost at the one-year mark to finalize their divorce. The setting takes place in Pine Harbour Tree far, which I loved. I also love the 9-year age gap between Nate (older) and a helicopter pilot.
This storyline was so hilarious, as Cassie & Nate had an intense make-out session in Cassie’s new shop & Ben shows up (Cassie’s brother) starts questioning her about Nate.
Cassie felt that Nate had been established since he was older & she was still trying to find her own passions.
Love all the references of the Christmas holiday with decorating for the holidays. Now Cassie’s mom Carmen invites Nate to Christmas Eve dinner. Love all the references of the Christmas holiday with decorating for the holidays. Now Cassie’s mom Carmen invites Nate to Christmas Eve dinner. Both Cassie & Nate bring dates to the Christmas Eve dinner.
Through feeling jealous with this fake dating for the holidays, both Nate & Cassie realize that they still have feelings for each other & chose each other, great HEA & no divorce for Cassie & Nate.

The Holidate Disaster is magnificently messy and angsty chaos, with two people who love each other very much but don’t know how to communicate where they are at now. Nate carries so much trauma from his childhood, and I loved getting to know him and watch him grow as he realizes he is still in love with his wife. His emotional struggle is palpable and powerful. Cassie is brave, brilliant, bold, and sassy, and she has a lot of emotional growing up to do. She waffles back and forth because she doesn’t really know what she wants. These two dance around each other so much, and listening to them argue and fight and deny they are still in love is by turns funny and painful and frustrating and so realistically presented. The narrators make a fabulous team, performing the various roles beautifully. The passion and chemistry bleeds through the speakers, carrying the emotions forth with intensity. I felt like I was in the story with them, experiencing it moment by moment. And the ending is simply fabulous!

A really cute, fun second-chance romance featuring Casey and Nate in Pine Harbor! 💕

Told from two different POVs with dual narration, this story follows a separated couple who find themselves navigating the possibility of rekindling their relationship. With forced proximity, great banter, family dynamics, and plenty of spice, there was so much to enjoy!

I loved the focus on communication, intimacy, and the importance of putting effort into a relationship. Both characters struggle with their feelings and their desire to find that passion again, making their journey sweet, relatable, and entertaining.

The narrators were fantastic, and there were several laugh-out-loud moments along the way!

All in all, this was a fun, spicy, and heartwarming listen. Definitely a cute second-chance romance! ❤️

I do love a good second-chance romance, and The Holidate Disaster was a lovely festive read! There’s something about two people getting another chance at love that gets me every time, especially when there’s history and unfinished business between them.
I really enjoyed the Christmas setting at Pine Harbour Little Tree Farm. It had that cosy holiday feeling I love, with romance, a little drama and enough emotional moments to keep me invested. It was lovely seeing the characters find their way back to each other and work out whether they could make things work this time around.
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were great company for the audiobook, making it an enjoyable listen.
A solid four stars from me! A lovely second-chance romance with a festive setting. Exactly the sort of story to enjoy with a hot drink and a cosy blanket.

3/5 Stars

This was an easy book to listen to. The duet narration was super amazing!

This one didn't land how I expected or hope it to--but that's a matter of personal preference. It was well-written!

For me, though, I would have liked to see more of the couple's backstory and what they loved about each other, as well as watch them fall back in love. I feel like we didn't get to see that at all, so their reconciliation didn't hit me. Do love that the story was set in Canada and the family dynamics/meddling family members, though, and the spice was very good! Just the romance part didn't balance out the way I prefer it.

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this story!

I really enjoyed how Cassie’s sweet family loves Nate like one of their own and hopes they can make amends. The tension around their reconciliation keeps you reading, and it is definitely a very spicy read! However, it really lacked true romance for me. I wanted to see more emotional relationship building rather than just relying on the spice to make them ‘want’ each other. While I liked the duet narration in theory, sometimes the timing felt off and the delivery was a bit stiff…almost like they were reading directly from a script (lacked feeling/emotions). Still, the cozy setting left me wanting to go back and read the first book in the series since I haven't yet!

I received this audiobook via NetGalley for review!

This was a very cute, SPICY, second chance holiday romance Cassie and Nate have been separated for a year which means that they have reached the point where they could move forward with a divorce…but do they really want to!

I loved the banter between these two and the spicy scenes where fun and made me blush. Parts of this made me literally laugh out loud…the big red present was the best 🤣🤣🤣. I also really loved the dual narration.

The only thing that made me stop from giving this 5 ⭐️ was that the story went too quickly, I wanted more with these characters. I will definitely read more from this series though.

Opposites attract: second-chance almost-ex-husband Christmas romance. Spice factor is 4/5. Super cute book. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook as Cassie and Nate grow and make small changes to come together. Will they stay married? Can they change enough? Or will their Christmas dates break the deal? Cassie's family is so sweet to love Nate like their own family and treat him well, even with the separation. The ending was a big surprise!

I really enjoyed this story - I’ve not read a story where the husband and wife were estranged but there was zero angst between then really.

We love a self aware king! He was working out that he really hadn’t given himself over to cassie over the years & that she’d grown but he tried to stifle her.

And in learning that he started to work to get his wife back.

It was sweet, Christmassy and spicy. With a guaranteed HEA, it was just what I needed!

This book was a fun, holiday romp.

I felt like it needed better pacing, and a lot more development of the central relationship. The whole thing felt rushed and mostly based on physical. A lot of the ‘progress’ seemed introspective on each character’s side rather than worked on together.

That being said, it was a fun afternoon listen and I enjoyed it well enough!

Thank you NetGalley for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review. This just didn't hit well for me. There was nothing "holiday" about it except the time of year and a party. It was just flat out boring for me. It was also definitely spicy, which I don't mind, but didn't really expect in a holiday book. Just not the book for me.
