He shot everything that moved in a blind fury. It was as if he were floating outside his body, his flesh acting on pure animal instinct. To kill or be killed. It was exhilarating.

Grayson is the perfect twentieth century gentleman. Whilst the world waits for him to choose a wife, he dreams of romanticism, adventure and poetry. Thus, when war is declared in August 1914, he takes up his chance for glory, unknowingly marching head first into the bloodiest war the world has ever seen.

So good that I read it in under 2 hours! The sequel to Diamonds Fall is riveting, heartbreaking, and dramatic! The author did an amazing job conveying the emotions of the characters. I found myself sobbing and laughing, then sobbing again, the smiling, then sobbing (hopeful tears this time). This is one of those books that will stick with me for a long time to come. Amazing work!

Oh lord! What an emotional roller coaster this story was. I still feel the pain and sorrow deep down inside. Rebecca M. Gibson took us right in the middle of the World War I and it was done with a lot of talents. It is raw and crude, just as the war is. Grayson is a an artist of only 18 and he decides to enroll into British army and to go fight for its country. I will not enter into details, let me just say that he touched my heart deeply and I can relate with him on a deep level.

It is depicting how war is affecting not only the privateer but all their family as well, that it is still true today. I am still very emotional while writing this brief review, I will just add that it is a must read, but be prepare to cry.. I loved it!

Rebecca Gibson does a great job of transporting us to the heart of a gruesome and bloody war. We follow Grayson and the difficulties he experiences on and off the battlefield.

Gray enlists in the hopes of gaining respect, but the harsh reality is more than he can bear. At times, when I wished to see a stronger side of Gray I had to remind myself that he was an 18 year old boy, experiencing what no one should, let alone a kid. Nothing about this story is sugar coated and is a must read for anyone looking for a authentic story of the trials of war and the effect it has on not only the soldiers but those they leave behind.

I have just finished reading this book and wow. what a fantastic read. I was hooked from page one to the finish and read it all in one sitting. There was simply no putting it down. I cried genuine tears at more than one part. It is such a new release, it is difficult to give too much description of the good and the great as almost anything I say will give away the plot. A FANTASTIC follow on from Diamonds fall. Anyone that does not read this is cheating themselves out of a glorious day of reading.
