1 'Not for me' Star

Cain and Calla fell in love in High School and thought theirs would be a love that lasted forever. Deciding to make it official, the two get married and plan to start their future together. But the day that should be the happiest day of their lives turns into the worst when Calla catches Cain with another woman only hours after saying "I do."

Six years later Calla returns home, finally ready to face her husband and ask for a divorce. But when she arrives she see's that Cain is no longer the man she once knew, now he's a hardened criminal and she doesn't even recognize him anymore.

Cains life took a turn when Calla left him and now his life has led him to being President of his father's MC and living like a criminal. When Calla returns home he knows that he can't let her go ever again and will do anything in his power to make her stay. Including holding her prisoner.

I was really excited to start this book and even did a little happy dance when I saw it on my Kindle. But after reading about 13% I started to realize that this book wasn't for me. I liked the premise of Calla and Cain splitting up for an unknown reason and now she's back. But I wasn't expecting that reason to be revealed so early into the book. I wanted the suspense and questioning of not knowing what it was. It seemed like every time there was a secret or something we didn't know, we then found out really fast what it was. So really there was no suspense to the story.

The characters seemed very one dimensional to me and I honestly felt nothing for Cain. It was like he wasn't even a big part of the story because there was so many other things happening and he didn't factor into any of it. Calla, I could have done without. She went from crying on the floor, to being angry and screaming like a banshee, and then being a "tough girl" threatening people. Oh and then back to crying. I just didn't like her character at all and couldn't understand her mood swings.

I wish I could say that the story was saved by the romance but, what romance??? I felt no connection between Cain and Calla and there were almost no intimate scenes between them. After six years apart I was thinking there would at least be some sweet moments of reconnecting, but I didn't see any of that. They went from Calla hating Cain and the fact that she was there, to them loving each other like they were never apart and I didn't like that.

The ending and the weird turn the book took just made it even more confusing for me. It all just seemed so unrealistic to me and didn't fit with the story at all. Bottom line, the book didn't work for me and was a disappointment. The story line is interesting though and I know a lot of people will love it, so I still say to give this book a chance. Hopefully it will work out for everyone else.

So after sleeping on this book and thinking about it today I came with the conclusion "I hate this book!" It was so stupid.

First our Hero is super in love with the heroine. The families hate each other. Real Shakespeare shit here. H is nothing like his corrupted father, he plans to be with h forever and become a cop. However! Wait for it. The day he marries the love of his life. Marries her. You know for better or worse. His dad pulls aside his son and whispers in his ear all the bullcrap he's involved with. Tells his son to get rid of her before it's too late.

So of course he decides to cheat on his wife of 5 hours because he had to save her and push her away. I could almost forgive if she truly needed to be away from him and he stayed away. However here are the flaws to his story.

He chases after her immediately to explain. She refuses hear him out and leaves to Canada. I was confused on why he would cheat on her to push her away only to run after her because still wanted her.

He finally gives up and takes off for a year and comes back as the cold hearted bastard. Dad dies and he takes over illegal MC Club.

6 years later she goes to the compound to serve him divorce papers and everyone knows who she is. Why? Because H has told everyone about her including keeping her locked up on the compound if she ever came back. So now she's stuck and he's going win her back.

He's a huge dick, never won me over and she's like "ugh I hate you!" "Hope you die!" "I want you out my life!" Only for the chapter to turn and all of a sudden they both love each other and she understands why he did those things. And now she loves him and want to be with him forever!

All of a sudden more family secrets. Over the top, stupid as hell family secrets.

Yeah it pretty much goes down hill from there. The family is one huge clusterfuck and it ends unresolved. Not the couple, they are just so in love! It's like the last 6 years never happened.

The book does end on a somewhat cliffhanger but I doubt I'll read it. I'm not interested to know how it ends. After half way everything was ridiculous.

I didn't like this characters or story scenes at all. The dialogues and curses used infinite was unwanted and unnecessary. The romance was unrealistic and pretentious. I wanted to DNF the book but I still gave this read a chance.

I really wanted to like this book, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

When I read the synopsis, I was so intrigued and excited to read it, but once I started reading, I found the characters too annoying.

Cain was a douchebag to put it lightly and Calla was too outspoken — which is never bad — but she was just too judgmental and for someone who’s a lawyer she didn’t think before she acted.

There was cheating involved, which I’m not really a big fan of.

Anyway, some stuff happens, there was a twist in the story along the way (50%ish) and then there’s kidnapping.

I’m going to be honest, after halfway through the book, I couldn’t be bothered. I was no longer interested and this was almost a DNF but I felt that since I was halfway through, I might as well finish it. So I skimmed through it.

The epilogue did not have that HEA feeling. It felt like more of the premise of book 2.

I wish I enjoyed it, since the overall plot was a good one, but...... Oh, and there are some typos in the writing 😕

“Oh shit, the woman I love beyond all reason is in danger. Should I be honest and tell her what’s going on and give her the opportunity to have a hand in a decision that’ll affect her life completely? Or should I make sure she catches me f*&king another woman right after our wedding? Yeah, that’s a winning idea, I’ll do that. Then, when she shows up six years from now demanding a divorce, I’ll refuse because even though I’ve slept with countless women, she still belongs to me. I don’t care if I haven’t seen her in six years, now that I may actually lose her on a piece of paper, I guess now’s the time to reclaim her and put her life back in danger like it was before so all that screwing around was for naught. I’m a genius!”

Where the hell do these ideas come from???

I’m guessing the first time I was “distracted reading” (during a baseball game, etc) because I picked up on several issues that caused me to take this down to a 2 ⭐. My original review has all the deets, but I wanted to add a few things.

This will have SPOILERS from the first 10%...

The “feel” of this book is not serious. The action/reactions of characters are not only OTT, they are very illogical, and things are CONSTANTLY switching sometimes in the same paragraph. It doesn’t make sense, and you’ll have to just go with it, or you’ll be left with a ton of questions. (all these things happen at the beginning)

Cain and Calla (18) have just gotten married, and are going to inform their parents… who hate each other. Cain goes off to tell his MC prez father, and when Calla goes to meet him later, he’s having sex with Emerald, a club girl who has the hots for him. Devastated, 18-yr old Calla gets in her car, drives straight to Canada, and changes her name…because Cain is trying to find her. (calling everyone, going to her parents’ house then sitting outside it for a month) We FFW to 6-yrs later with Calla returning with divorce papers. Then we’re told he had sex with Emerald to protect her-so she would leave… because she was in danger, and he’s known where she was for several years.

Now, you might be asking yourself a few things like… Why did he actually fuck the OW? He could have pretended- I read a mob book once where the H did that. OR. Why did he try to call/ track her down immediately if she needed to stay away? OR. If she’s been safe all these years in Canada, why can't she just go back? OR. If the club is safe, why did he chase her out of town? OR. If he could find her with her fake name, why couldn’t the bad guys? Unfortunately, you’re not going to get any answers.

If you’re still with me, you’re going to need to overlook a large amount of conflicting info. For example, this is within the same conversation…

She needs to stay here and keep acting like she hates me, like this is the last place she wants to be.

“You need to act like you want to be here. Pretend like you and I are trying to work through our shit. And stand by my side.

Some things are bigger like the reason for the separation danger, and some are smaller like her saying she can never forgive her parents then running to her mom the next page.

If you’re still with me, then there’re a few safety hurdles you’ll need to get over. After the “caught in the act” Emerald sex, he continued to have sex with her over the separation. And there’s this, “ I’ve fucked every single one of the women who hang out around here. This was all no strings attached sex, even with Emerald, and he’s had rules if that helps… no kissing, no going down on a girl, and no BJ’s- strictly penetration only. Once Calla returns, he’s all about her.

The couple’s shit is all settled before the halfway point, and then we veer into an OTT side plot with the mafia, a rival gang, family secrets, a club mole, and a hit on Calla.

I grew up with my mom watching soap operas, so I can get down with OTT, and if you can overlook all the above we do get a huge helping of psycho OW antics from Emerald.

*******Original Review****
The first book in K.C’s The Syndicate starts out with a bang when newlywed Calla walks in on her new hubs getting busy with OW Emerald in the prologue. The “cheating part” happens, and then other than him being a man-whore during the separation… these behaviors go away, and the plot quickly moves on to bigger/other problems. They still fight about it for a while, but Cain doesn’t continue to skirt chase. We also get his POV, so we are privy to his thoughts/reasons/etc.…just an FYI.

I’m going to try and be as vague as possible, but will spoiler tag the rest just in case.

The blurb and the beginning of this book had a promise of a somewhat interesting book. But the author took some turns with characters and a plot that I just didn't care about and don't understand at all.

So maybe take in stride the mafia/MC part but the romance...total disappointed

This story could have been so much better! The synopsis got me interested enough to buy it but the main character was such a push over. Cain was a complete asshole to her over & over & she took it. He cheats on her " to keep her safe" & within hours of when she comes home (6 years later) she is already forgiving him. Possibly spoilers ahead everyone... Cheating on calla made absolutely no sense & to keep emerald around the entire 6 years they were apart & continue sleeping with her is ridiculous. I didn't like Cain at all I thought this story could have been written better & a lot of changes should be made.

Initially the synopsis drew into reading this book. Then when I saw the series was a Syndicate, I thought hell yeah!!! Some bad ass sons of bitches. Mob, gangsters, death, hitmen, brutality, women. etc etc. So of course happy dance. Reading through the book and at it's conclusion, I became perturbed over the entirety of it. So here goes it.

Love should never hurt, damnit. It's one of the few things in life that are free.

This is the story of star crossed lovers who come from even more criminally crossed families. Cain and Calla's story start before they were even born, with their families. Their parents aren't who they make themselves out to be. Both Cain and Calla's parents have always protected them, while hiding the truth of their families business.

Meeting as teenagers and falling in love has always been to the dismay of both their families. When Cain and Calla become of legal age, they elope. After both families find out about their marriage, fury and rage isn't the only emotion running rampant among their parents.

Both parents decide in order to protect their children, they must tear them apart. This sets in motion a plan that will not only bring the truth to the forefront but will also devastate Cain and Calla to the point of six years of separation.

As the years go by, Cain has never lost hope in Calla, his love for her has only grown. Even though it hurt him to be away from her. He knew that was the only way to protect her. Finally knowing the truth of their families criminal activities, Cain is no longer the sweet naive young man is once was. Now...he is a hardened criminal.

Six years is how long it took Calla to settle down and attempt to gain some semblance of a life. Six years of grieving, and six years of being married to a husband that she lost only hours after marrying him. Six years too much. It was time to get her life back, time to get divorced.

Calla has put on her big girl panties and has stepped up to the gates of hell. Ready to walk through in order to get Cain to sign the divorce papers. Setting them both free. What she encounters is a different kind of hell that will shatter her image and perception of her loving family. She will learn of the true betrayal and the pain and heartbreak that they all put her through in order to protect her.

Our minds try and overrule our hearts, but love can triumph over any obstacle, any distance, and any person who tries to take it away.

What I loved about this book was the general storyline and plot. I felt that Kathy Coopmans had a wonderful story to tell, however, the deliverance was lacking. Their were too many inconsistencies with the characters, along with Calla being portrayed with bi-polar disorder. One minute she was hot and the next cold. Devastated and in despair, wondering what the hell happened, then boom!! she became fierce and owned her family. In the space of seconds. I felt as if she had and emotional identity crisis.

I must say that ending with Manny has kept me intrigued and looking forward to the second book.

What can I say? I thought this book was adorable. I'm not sure why I think that amidst the drama, murder and mayhem, but that's the descriptor that came to my mind.

There was cheating. Sorry for spoiling it for those of you who didn't know. However, there were circumstances behind the cheating that make it a bit more... palatable. I'm lying. The reasons made me hate Cain less, but I think there were other ways to get the point across. Then again, he was 18yo at the time. His faculties may not have been fully developed.

By the end of the book, I definitely loved Cain and actually pretty early on I was convinced of his love for Calla. Shoot, who wouldn't be convinced after reading about his house. Or his tattoo???

As for Calla, I liked her from the beginning. Add the fact that she went to my alma mater U of W and I felt an immediate connection. She was brash, intelligent, witty, spunky, strong, beautiful, caring, etc. I loved her interactions with all of the characters, especially Cain, but also how she was with her parents and Manny.

Oh man. Manny/Roan is the subject of the next book and I'm really interested in reading about him. Although I would have liked to read more about Cain and Calla, maybe I'll get to see them in book 2.

Enjoy!

4.5 Where Have You Been Stars
or
4.5 Hiding in Canada Stars

I don't have any tattoos. I am neither brave enough or cool enough. But I know lots of people with tattoos. But none there. I mean talk about a big owie.

Calla and Cain are young and in love. And in true Romeo and Juliet fashion, their parents are against them. So using all brains a pair of 18 year old possess, they run off and get married. That has to work, right? Not so much.

I don't do spoilers so I won't tell you the ins and outs of it, but let's just say several years pass before they are reunited. And reunited for the sole purpose of a divorce. A divorce Cain is not ready for. Ever.

I've never wanted anything in my life, except her. For her to love me. To think about me all day long, counting down the hours until until we can be together.

Cain has been carrying on with the Motorcycle Club. He has been trying to protect Calla for years. Long distance. Now he has to protect her up close. And personal. Very personal. He has his work cut out for him. He needs to convince her that she is still his. Even after all this time.

Love should never hurt, damnit. It's one of the few things in life that are free. I happen to have fallen so deeply in love at the age of sixteen that I will never come out.

But this is not just the story of Cain and Calla. This is the story of their families. The families that wanted them apart but now must protect them. With their lives.

Ms Coopmans has crossed over to include MC and mafia. Strong alpha men and the women who support them. And not so silently. They are feisty and sassy.

This is the story of star crossed lovers who come from even more crossed families. Get in deep to the story of Cain and Calla.

Dnf'ed at 32%, page 89, chapter 8.
The only reason for 2 stars is I didn't find editing errors as far as spelling, wrong words and typos of that sort.
There is a heavy dose of juvenile dialog and behavior by all characters including parents. Heavy dose of run on internal dialog. Contradicting dialog. Even the type of mc club Cain is a part of contradicts itself. And by the time I dnf'ed it was starting to be repetitive.
The female mc cries constantly.
Reads like a young adult wrote it.
I can't take it anymore.
Highly annoying.

The hero slept around with other women too much while he was separated from the heroine and I didn't know this would be a biker club romance. I am fed up of MC roms. The hero also tattoed his penis with a flower symbol for the heroine, to prove how much he loves her. That was the same penis he used to sleep around with all the other women in the club. I don't know if I will continue with this series.

Review by Jen Hagen

“I love you. Just remember that and everything will be fine.”

If you’re going to hear your husband speak his last words to you, at least it’s something heartwarming. Calla and Cain’s wedding day has to go down in the books as one of the worst wedding days ever. One minute you’re married, the next you’ve left your husband to break the news to his father, and
BAM! You are now an estranged couple.

Calla and Cain married young at 18 years and their parents were not thrilled with the announced nuptials; in fact, they were happy and relieved the marriage lasted less than a day. Calla ran away after everything went down that dreadful day and it is now 6 years later when she returns home to finally get divorce papers signed by Cain. There is a slight problem though…Cain doesn’t want to get divorced.

“You will never marry another man, not as long as I’m alive. You’re mine, Calla.”

A lot has changed in the 6 years that Calla has beenaway. She moved far away across theborder into Canada never wanting to be found and Cain was forced into leading a
life that he didn’t want a part of. Cain is now president of his father’s motorcycle club. Cain has also bulked up considerably and got a tattoo of a calla lily on his…where?? Ouch… He’s also a complete bad ass living a criminal life. Oh, I forgot
to mention that Calla is in college to be a lawyer. Not a good mixture.

I’ve told her all she needs to know for now. Before I tell her the whole truth about my life and the things I do, I need to gain her trust back. If she finds out I lied to her about anything, I know I will lose her forever…

Well gee…YA THINK!?!?! Sometimes men can be the dumbest people…hmm…let’s see how not telling the truth is going to go over. But wait…he’s not really not telling the truth…he just isn’t even telling her. He’s not guilty if it’s just omitting the truth, right?

Goodness there’s a lot of truth for Calla to learn. Actually it was way too much truth coming out. She and I learned it at the same time and how she managed to hold onto her sanity is beyond me.

There’s only one tiny little obstacle in our way…and that would be our past. The fact that I can’t trust him.

Oh Mylanta. This is just a hot mess but yet I couldn’t stop myself from reading it. Cain is a hard ass with the softest heart for Calla.

“All I want to do is start my life with you, the life that was stolen from us years ago.”

There are obstacles in their way to their fresh start, and they are brutal and agonizing moments that may not be suitable for the sensitive reader. I, of course, couldn’t put it down once I got to this section. Ms. Coopmans always likes to throw in her mind trickery and there is plenty of that to be found here. The story doesn’t necessarily end on a cliffhanger, but there is more to come in the form of a series.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I read this book!!

Young love is innocent and amazing, unless you are Cain Bexley and Calla Greer. Two innocents who get married because of love, and then, their worlds change. Love. Betrayal. Broken Hearts. Moving On. And that’s only the beginning of the book…

Calla moves to Canada and goes to school to follow her dreams of becoming a lawyer. Cain stays home and takes care of his father's business. On the surface things are simple and clean, but underneath it all, things are anything but. Cain has loved Calla his whole life, and just because things changed and they aren't together anymore, doesn’t mean he doesn’t love her or continue to protect her. Calla wants to leave Cain in the past and move on. When she attempts to try, her world tilts on its axis and she finds out things she never knew.

Murder. Mayhem. Love. Loyalty. Family. All words associated with The Syndicate. The sex is white hot, the love jumps off the page and the rest of it keeps you reading just as fast as you can, yet wanting the story to never end. Check your panties at the door, grab a glass of wine and The Wrath of Cain! You will have an amazing night!! ~ Heather, 5 stars

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
===============

For two years, Cain and I have snuck around seeing each other whenever we could, both of us lying to our fathers.

Oh, and one more thing… stay away from Emerald Jefferson.”

“She’s Jed’s VP Monty’s daughter, and she is a little bitch. She’s been after Cain for years.”

Then, my eyes go wide and my heart drops to the fucking floor because my husband is in his bed. But not with me, his wife. “Cain!” I scream.

A crude smile flashes across her face as she sees me watching her glide up and down on my HUSBAND’S DICK! “Calla!”

What was supposed to be the best day of my life all those years ago drove me here when on my wedding night I found my husband fucking another woman in his bed. Not just any woman either, she was the one I was warned about by Cain’s stepmom moments before I went into his house and caught him. Stupid whoring club slut.

“Is that so? Boss man went and got himself a high class hooker instead of dipping his dick into that Emerald whore, huh? Well, he never told me about you... so like I said, get the fuck out of here.”

His arm is dangling around the neck of the slut whose face I will never forget. She’s fucking beautiful. Her long, blonde hair flows in waves around the flawlessly made up porcelain skin of her face.

“You will never marry another man, not as long as I’m alive. You’re mine, Calla. I’ve waited way too fucking long for you to come back to me, and I will be damned if you are leaving here without hearing me out.”

“But... I don’t think I will ever forgive you. I just can’t wrap my head around any of it. You didn’t love me enough to fight for me. To tell your father to go to hell. To jump on your motorcycle and come and get me. You threw me away like the two years we spent together meant nothing to you. There isn’t a person in this entire world who deserved to see what I saw, to have that kind of pain to deal with. I never saw it coming. I’m beyond all that pain now. I’m coping. I have a life of my own now.”

I wonder to my asshole self why I even brought Calla there. Why I left her in a room where the last time she saw me I was balls deep inside of Emerald.

Good thing I tune her ass out. Every woman I’ve been with, I tune them out and pretend I’m inside Calla.

These bitches around here have been fucked by so many hen-pecked pussy-whipped sons of bitches it isn’t even funny anymore.

Two. I have slept with two men, which I know damn well is a far smaller number than the women he has been with.

I fucking love this woman, and here I sit hurting her, abusing her over and over again.

Not everyone will go down as easy as Emerald did. I’ve fucked every single one of the women who hang out around here, and left all of them wanting more. All of them knowing they will never get more.

We fuck. No strings attached, unless someone makes it that way. I’ve been with every one of them.”

I yank her thick hair back, putting my face within an inch of hers. She cries out in pain when I tug even harder. I would love to show her just how kinky I can get.

Makes me sick to even think I kept her around for years. I feel like it’s all my damn fault. I should have listened to Beamer. All this time, he kept saying he suspected something was off with her, and I didn’t listen.

Another DNF.

First the writing wasn't very good, especially in the beginning, it felt choppy. Though I will admit it did tend to get a little bit better once the story moved into the middle... but not by much.

The heroine is horrible and one of those main leads that "hates" the hero and yet can't help but fall to her knees in lust. This annoys the shit out of me. Girl, make him work for it and make him grovel! Instead the heroine sticks to her guns for like 2 seconds until the hero gets close to her and then all she can think about is lust, sex, and orgasms, of course, all the while "hating" him.

And of course after throwing some dick her way she becomes submissive and does what he says. She tries to put up a fight but always caves and precedes to act like a pouting child.

And not to mention when she goes from morally strong lawyer to badass wannabe murderer. . . when she walks out of the house and says "My dad isn't going to do anything to Emerald. But I sure as hell will." Like, I literally laughed out loud and felt embarrassed for her. She was acting like she was some tough ass, haha, girl, go back inside and just stop it.

And don't even get me started on the ridiculous plot.

This was just not the book for me and I didn't care enough about the characters or their story to finish.

3.5 Wrath of Cain Stars

I probably would have rated this higher it there was so much unnecessary drama or a lot of repetitive speak/thoughts, I found my mind wandering. Especially in the first half of the book.
Near the second half is where I really got in to the story and then was invested in the characters.

Cain was a mystery but he put his heart on the line for Calla. He tried to be all tough be alpha you women but she totally put the kibosh on that haha. I love that she never took any grief from him. She said what was on her mind and didn't give a flying f* of the consequences.

Calla, what can I say she was a little whinny for my tastes but she was a strong female character and I can respect that. She didn't show much fear at all. I can’t say that I would be able to just drive in to a MC with my head held high like she did then she got in to a cat fight and was able to hold her own… Mad respect for her for that.

The dynamic between her and Manny was a huge part of the book for me, you could see the friendship they had I am so glad his book is next because I need more Manny/ Roan.

Over all I enjoyed the book, the narrator was ok, I liked some of her voices but some were just not good. The one for Calla’s uncle yeah no… just no.. but all the other male voices weren't too bad I could tell who was speaking just by the distanced voice. I would listen to her again.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Sexy and intriguing! This book had action, danger and sizzling romance.
Cain and Calla are young and in love. Their wedding happens in a flash and they are happy until their families get in the way.
Cain must protect Calla and there is only one way for that; he needs to hurt her the night of their wedding.
Calla flees. She grows up and when she returns to Cain and his MC she only wants one thing: A divorce.
Secrets have thrown them apart but will the truth pull them back together?
I liked the plot but I do think it had a lot of subplots that were not developed properly. A lot of things were added into the mix that I found too much. Also, I found myself a bit disconnected with the characters. I read about their passion but I had some difficulty in feeling it. But the writing was great and the book did not drag out. Good read with a strong heroine.

++++4 Stars!!!++++
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest honest review.

The Wrath Of Cain (The Syndicate #1)
Kathy Coopmans
5 absolutely brilliant stars

How many times can I click that 5 star button cause I need to ....

This is so juicy good I cant even stand it. Drugs, Murder, Suspense, mafia, gun running, MC, bad ass women, and scrumptious men … YES please and thank yooouuuuu! Kathy I need to hug and squeeze you. This book has all my favorite yummies wrapped up in a tight exhilarating package.

Callas dreams are with Cain and being a lawyer. Cain’s life is wrapped around Calla. His father is the president of the notorious Sinners of Revolution MC but they are on the right side of the law. Cain doesn’t want to take over the MC, he wants to be a cop. John Greer and Jed Bexley have hated each other almost their entire life. Each has forbid their children to be together but Cain and Calla haven’t listened and now they have gotten married. Both 18 and both ready to start their lives together Calla heads out to the MC after allowing Cain time to speak with his father. Her father didn’t handle the news well. Hopefully Cain faired better. Cain’s stepmother Darcy embraced the marriage but Jed not so much. Running to find Cain, Calla’s life is shattered into a million pieces only a few hours after she thought her life just began. Cain is in bed with Emerald Jefferson.

Six years later Calla returns home after fleeing that same day to Canada. Finally ready to face her husband and demand a divorce, immediately she realizes things are much different than when she left. Cain is not the same man nor is the clubhouse. What in the hell has happened to the man she once loved and why is he saying now that she is back he wont be allowing her to leave.

And .. that’s all you are getting from me because BOOM baby here we go. Buckle up and get ready for the most thrilling ride on the deceitful damn crazy train there is. HELL YES! Not only is this one of the most nail biting stories I have read this year but the cast of characters …. Dang woman! And yes there is going to be more. Lets see there is Manny, a person I wont name because you will meet him and Im not giving it away but holy good sweet baby Jesus he was like taking a 2x4 to the face, Salvatore and the cliffhanger …. Um … Kathy … when is the next book? PLEASE HURRY! The Wrath of Cain is a completely beautiful shit storm.

I also want to know more about the MC men. Beamer, Coon Dog … there is so much to learn. Im breathing heavy just writing this …
Kathy’s series Shelter Me was very very good but she has outdone herself with Cain. Girl you can write your ass off. Incredible. Click it up … Don’t wait .. get it on release day!

I was provided an ARC for an honest review. Review will post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Thank you Kathy … Im ready for the next please!

EXCELLENT BOOK!!! I couldn't put it down and when it was finished I was left wanting more.

Cain and Calla's story began full of innocence and hope but was quickly overrun and shattered by betrayal, heartbreak, loneliness, despair, and danger. The path to rebuild what they once had into something even stronger and solid enough to survive any storm was a rocky one.

Calla learned that nothing about her life was what she had always thought it was, and no one in it was who she knew them to be. While she had always thought it was Cain who had broken her trust along with her entire soul, she discovers that everyone she ever loved had been part of a deception that was much larger than just adultery.

It's obvious to the reader from the very beginning that Cain loves Calla more than anything, but I can certainly understand her hurt and anger at him. I couldn't help but wonder the whole time how he was able to cheat on her in the first place. Even though he knew he had to drive her away from him for her safety, if he really loved her how was he physically able to perform such a horrendous act of treachery? That nagging question is never directly answered in the book and I just might message the author and ask her because I just can't stop thinking about it. I forgave him by the end of the book but I hadn't forgotten and I don't see how Calla could either.

Even with that still bothering me, I really loved this book. As I always have said, any book that can rile my emotions to the point where I'm so angry at a fictional character is a well written book!!

This is a complete story without a cliffhanger but I was left wanting to know what will happen next. There's definitely more that's going to happen with the characters introduced in this book and I can't wait to find out.

The writing was just really hard to get past... The premise at first was intriguing but the actual layout was poorly executed. I found that the reasoning for their entire relationship ending at first but ridiculous. One of my biggest pet peeves is LACK OF COMMUNICATION. I can't stand when people make life altering decisions without actually considering the other person first. Not everyone is fragile.
