Four men. Two marriages. One very unconventional happily ever after.
Zane and Asa. Felix and Avi.
They started as two couples whose lives became increasingly—and intimately—entangled. Somewhere along the way, friendship became family, boundaries shifted, and the four of them built something entirely their own.
Now, for the first time, all of the Core Four stories previously scattered across multiple anthologies have been collected in one place.
Follow Zane, Asa, Felix, and Avi through the filthy, funny, tender, and occasionally homicidal moments that turned two couples into one inseparable family—from holidays and birthdays to babies, changing boundaries, and all the chaos that happens in-between.
And their story isn't finished yet.
This collection includes an all-new, four-chapter Core Four story, bringing readers back into the bed, home, and completely unhinged family these four men have built together.
Because there is absolutely nothing these four won't share.
Onley James lives in North Carolina with her daughter, her daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and a menagerie of animals, both good and evil. James splits her time between writing m/m romance and mainlining dangerous levels of caffeine and attempting to maintain her ever-slipping sanity.
When not at her desk you can find her whining about how much writing she has to do while avoiding said writing by binge-watching unhealthy amounts of television and doom scrolling on social media. She loves true crime documentaries, anti-heroes, and writing kinky, snarky books about morally gray men who fall in love with other men.
🎊Release Day🎊 will be back later with books specific edits! -----
🔥🖤“The four of us… you, me, Avi, Felix… we work. We are a family within a family. - Asa Mulvaney 🔥🖤
----- Fourplay & Fatalities was everything I wanted from the core-four after reading the Necessary Evils Series. The "Core-Four" is specifically: Headcase #4 - Asa & Zane Mad Man #5 - Avi & Felix Btw, this'll make no sense if you haven't read the original series, start here: Unhinged ----- This anthology is mostly kinky sex between the two couples with a few glimpses into their life. I'm still deciding on my absolute favorite and I don't really have a least favorite - I'm telling you... this was all exactly what I wanted. So freaking sexy. 🥵
I'll come back after release date and add specific things about the stories. ----- One great thing about this series is that it's so interconnected they are constantly in other books - we get to know the twins a bit in the first three books and then see their relationships grow throughout the rest of the books after their own. By the end, I was genuinely dying for exactly exactly this cause hotttt, plus them ending up as a foursome just made sense to me based on the intensity of Asa and Avi's relationship. ----- The very last short is a taboo twincest story between Avi & Asa. Nothing happens between the twins in any of the other stories. All other versions of partner swapping that can happen between them do You can just not read the last story with no problems if that's not your thing.
Will (hopefully remember to) come back with sex themes/tws on release day. Though, if you've read their books you'll know their kinks. ----- I plan to go back and read through the whole universe starting with (Intoxicating) and read in the author's suggested order. The first one that starts it all is: Intoxicating I love big universes, a lot of my all time favorite series would definitely fall under this category. ----- Thank you to Onley James for this free advanced reader copy. Rating and review are voluntary - opinions given are always my own.
FOUR MEN. TWO MARRIAGES. ONE VERY UNCONVENTIONAL HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
AND I LOVE THESE FOUR SO FREAKING MUCH.
Okay, so there are actually two ways you can enjoy Fourplay & Fatalities by Onley James.
You can absolutely pick this up as a collection of ridiculously hot, filthy, and delicious short stories about four men in a poly relationship. We have a pair of twins and their respective husbands, and before anyone panics, NO, there’s no taboo relationship between the brothers.
OR, and this is the option I HIGHLY recommend, you can experience the absolute MAJESTY that is the Necessary Evils series, read Asa and Avi’s books, fall completely in love with these men, and THEN come back to experience how they became the CORE FOUR.
Because WHAT A FREAKING GROUP.
Zane, Asa, Felix, and Avi have created this wonderfully unconventional little family, and I am absolutely obsessed with them.
The chemistry? INSANE. The possessiveness? DELICIOUS. The spice? GOOD LORD.
But what I love most is that underneath all the absolutely filthy moments, there’s so much affection, devotion, and genuine love between these four. They’ve built a relationship that works for THEM, and getting to see all the little moments of their lives together makes me ridiculously happy.
I’d actually already read most of these stories through Onley’s Patreon, but did that stop me from devouring them all over again?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
And getting everything together in one collection, PLUS the new material and that epilogue?!
I LOVED IT.
There’s something so satisfying about revisiting characters you’ve loved for so long and getting to see them happy, thriving, and still being their wonderfully unhinged selves.
This was hot, hilarious, sweet, and exactly the kind of chaotic reunion I wanted.
I will NEVER get tired of these men.
And if you haven’t read Necessary Evils yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!
Some stories should remain on Patreon. Some of them should not be put into a book.
Now, it pains me to even write this. I’m a huge Onley James fan (like, I own special editions and merch). But this book is for a very specific group, and sadly I’m not it.
This book is for fans of the Core Four (which obviously is in the title lol). But I mean FAN FAN FAN (like you love everysinglethingaboutthesefour type of fan). Don't get me wrong, I like the Core Four; I love Felix; he’s one of my favorite characters, but not even him made me like this book.
There is zero plot, and we have sex in EVERY SINGLE chapter, and after a while it gets tiring. These types of mini stories may have worked on Patreon, where Onley published one story and then may have posted something in between before posting another one about these four, but an entire book about these two couples, which truly is one couple, is too much. Especially when the plot is out the window, and all they do is have sex … I don’t mind when books sometimes have too much sex (hello, I read and enjoy Roe Horvat’s work), but this just didn’t work.
What I'm trying to say is that these mini stories worked one at a time because you don't read them like a book [one chapter right after the other one], but rather one story here and there. So when putting them together, you realize how much it was sex and how it lacked any type of emotion or plot.
The only thing I liked was the scenes with their children and seeing them as parents, and the funny chat exchange with the family.
God, what a waste of time.
ps. As I mentioned, this is for Core Four fans. I like the Core Four, but I was expecting something more. Maybe more stories about their personal feelings without the sex, everyday routines, more of them as parents, etc. I should've read the description more closely.
I love all of the Mulvaney brothers and their partners, but the Core Four (Asa, Zane, Avi and Felix) are definitely my favourite!! In their own stories in the Necessary Evils series, they are two distinct couples, but with Asa and Avi’s twin connection and the four of them living together, their relationships evolve throughout bonus content. This collection combines a lot of the bonus content plus gives us something more, and ends with “the end… for now” 😱 I’ve read most of these scenes before, but I loved revisiting them and seeing the relationships between the four men evolve over years of being together, and if Onley James gives us more in the future, I would happily devour it!!!
Fourplay & Fatalities is A Necessary Evils Core Four Anthology. We are back with the Mulvaney's for more fun stories. This time it Avi, Asa, Felix, and Zane the Core Four who get to have fun. I love having all these looks into this foursome and their lives together. I have loved watching them go from two couples Asa and Zane, Avi and Felix, to the wonderful foursome they are now. I love any and every story that Onley James writes but there is just something special about the core four stories. I can't wait for whatever Onley James writes next. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads. received a free review copy
5 stars just for the best streaming live scene followed by a family chat. I laughed so hard that I had to go back and reread these sections again. The spice with the Core Four is ….unhinged. Let’s be honest, a good portion of these stories are very spicy. This book covers many years of them together. Each story shows a small snippet of how their relationship grows and changes over time.
If you are looking for a novel, this is not the one for you but if you are seeking quick glances into their everyday life, it is a cute read. (I would have been interested in learning what happened with Felix and Patrice, lol!) Well worth the read. Trigger warning about incest in the last chapter so you can avoid it if you do not want to read about it.
Just not for me I thought it was gonna be more into there relationship but it was just circling everything we already knew and I was hoping we got to see how it all formed and not just all the sex scenes.
Just a collection of shorts about the core four. Predominantly sex scenes with some others. I've read some of these before. The version I got from the author has a twincest scene included. Not sure that's part of the Amazon version. It's always fun to read these stories.
