Boots and Broomsticks

Determined to make everyone believe she could stick with something, Heather McGuire spent her last dollar on a down payment to an old ranch and a bus ticket. The weight of the curse is pressing on her shoulders, making her realize how heavy the world is, especially when the thought of becoming just a normal human being scared her daily. Maybe, just maybe, enough work and some blisters on her hands would take her mind off her doomed future. Who knows? Living without magic could be okay.

What was she thinking? It would never be okay.

With a past smeared in false mud, Lane Emmett wants nothing more than to clear his name and regain his rightful place in the state he called home. If he couldn't gain employment at the Lazy P, his chances to become an upstanding citizen once again were slim. No one else would take him in, and the beautiful woman who took over the ranch didn't have a reason to trust him. It might all be a mistake, but he just couldn't leave, he couldn't quit. He no longer had a selfish need to prove himself to those who knew him—he saw a need in Heather that he wanted to fulfill. A need that only a man could satisfy. He just hoped he was that man.

She needed him just as much as he needed her, but for different reasons. Which reason would choose their future?

M.R. Polish has been writing since she was a young girl. She would tell her stories to anyone who would listen until she discovered she could put them onto paper.

Out on the ocean is her favorite place to be and would live on a cruise ship if she could, traveling the world, but alas, adulting and responsibilities keep her grounded.

M.R. is happily married to someone who would gladly follow her onto a ship and sail away. They have four kids, who might be more adventurous jet-setters than their mother.

Boots and Broomsticks is the 3rd story in the Saddles and Spells Series. In this story you get to follow Heather as she is trying to start over after living a life of disastrous relationships searching for love to break the curse. She has resigned herself to the fact that she may never find love or break the curse and that leads her to the decision to find something to do which will bring her joy and a meaning to life. She buys a farm from Alice’s husband Reese and sets out on her newest and last adventure. Lane has just gotten out of jail for a crime he would never have committed – stealing horses. On his search for employment he finds himself at Heather’s doorstep. Taking a chance on each other they set out to make the farm productive and a new life for them both. Though Lane notices strange things about Heather he never comments and she tries her best to keep her Wiccan ways under wraps. Until one day she cannot keep her secret and tells him about herself, the coven and the curse. Lane takes her confession in stride and with the help of a wise but lonely widower these two realize they were meant for each other. Heather’s magic is fading fast while Lane discovers who framed him. With the truth out for both of them Lane is free to live his life with Heather but she is saddened it was not soon enough to save her magic. But Lane assures her magic or no magic she has him forever. A sweet story and would like to meet more of the White Sage coven and hear about their love stories.

OMG -- I just love M R Polish and the way she writes!!!! If you have NOT read Saddles and Spells or Chaps and Cauldrons - please be sure to read them in order before Boots and Broomsticks - it will help you realize just where the story has been and where it is continuing to go.

After generations of witches in her family succumbing to the Legend of the Lonely Witch, aka the Curse, Heather is in fear of loosing her magic. She decides to buy the Lazy P from Reese and try to make a new life for herself. Lane (a sexy cowboy) comes to town and asks for a job. I don't write spoilers, so let me stop there and say this: YOU HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES!!!

I was a given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I felt the plot and storyline were great and very intriguing the pieces all falling just right. The female lead was amazing with her resolve to do something different and more for herself and going all out no matter the outcome not letting anything get in her way, no matter how daunting. I wasn't as impressed with the male lead finding him to be very immature he never thought things through, too quick to take action though I did appreciate how the male lead quickly accepted his counter part with no objections or second thoughts. Supporting characters were awesome!! Their interaction and involvement made the book so much sweeter. The switching of characters perspectives is one of the things I love most about the series for the reader gets such a personal experience with the characters.

So both Heather and Lane are looking for new starts and know what it's like to be judged by other people. They are both working to make the Lazy P what it use to be but they both have secrets they are hiding from each. I do not like Georgia and loved that Heather used her magic on her for silly things lol Sam is such a mysterious old man that you can't help but like.  His advice to the pair was spot on it was like he knew them well knew things. Thinking he might have a bit of magic himself. Roll on book 4 can't wait to see who is next

I loved it! This book is more about romance than magic, but a fun read. Great job!
