Have you ever felt like quitting? Ever asked yourself, "Why am I doing this?" Or something like, "Is this even worth anything?"
Even those who are faithful and have learned their lessons can sometimes still come to the end of the road. We can wonder what those faithful years of service were all about. Who are they for? What was the point?
We can lose sight of the big picture in the midst of our faithful service. It isn't hard to do. The writer to the Hebrews reminds us in Hebrews 6:10 that even if we lose sight, God never will. He writes:
For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
This little book has been written to help those serving behind the scenes to find strength, hope and wisdom to carry on in the ministries that God has given them. Drawing principles from the Bible and examples from many years of service, the author hopes to encourage and support those who so often work for the Lord behind the scenes where no one usually notices.
Such an encouragement and definitely a must read for any who are currently serving the Lord. Especially of an encouragement to those who are on pastoral staff.
The subtitle is "Encouragement for those working behind the scenes."
Pastor Rich Chaffin spent many years as a janitor before God called him to be a pastor. It's a wonderful book and I think you should read it!
This is a short little book of encouragement and exhortation. Some chapters are better than others, but the examples and stories he shares really make it worth reading. None of it really breaks new ground, but a reminder to serve faithfully and in humility is always pertinent. It's a quick read with a great message and no pretension.
