"Dark, steamy, sultry romance! A whole new twist on Angels. It has you fanning yourself, the pages turning consistently, and drooling over muscular angels. What is a better way to spend your day? Five stars!" Cutting Muse Blog Review

As a bounty hunter for the Tribunal, Eli has faced his share of enemies, many who were once his brethren. But when the ruling body of Seven questions his compassion, he finds himself bloody and wingless on an Alaskan tundra. If that isn’t bad enough, they will condemn him to Hell if he can’t find his humanity, and so the countdown begins. His discovery of an injured female has him wondering if she just might be his salvation.

Ashley doesn’t consider her gift “special”. Matter of fact, she walks a razor’s edge of sanity and can’t run far enough from the world and everyone in it. In desperation, she takes up residence in a remote cabin in the cold of Alaska. Bearing the loneliness will be worth it if she doesn’t have to watch another person die. But it’s the intense blue gaze of a stranger that fills her with something she’s never experienced before. Hope, and that has her asking questions.

Love alone won’t spare the couple from the heartache to come. Not when something evil lurks in the dark. To free Ashley, Eli succumbs to the darkness, but he doesn’t count on his mate’s tenacity. While he’s fighting to save her, she’s busy bargaining with Lucifer to regain Eli’s soul. The price she’s willing to pay just might end their future together.

~ 3.5 Fall Into Darkness Stars ~

Fall Into Darkness is book one in the Eternally Mated series by Valerie Twombly. This is a satisfactory start to the series. We get surprises, action, sultry romance, and a new spin on Angel’s.

Ashley is a unique women. I felt for her and her unique ability. She has always felt out of touch with those around her and is hinder by her curse (as she feels it is) in making real connections with people. Her ability has left her seeking solitude, but deep down she wants to know why she has this ability and who she truly is.

Eli is a Hunter Angel and does not care much for humanity. He is so bad! A rebel, stubborn, and alpha. All the things we love our male leads to be. His disobedience gets him into trouble. He finds himself striped of his wings and needing to find his humanity. All of this is perfectly timed for him to meet Ashley when she needs him the most.

The plot is intriguing and laid out nicely with many surprises and gripping things happening that I was kept on my toes wondering what is next. The world building was not big, with the main focus given to describing and introducing us to the Angel’s. The author did such a fantastic job on her Angels in portraying all the different kinds, what is happening to them, and how their society is structured. It was all so unique, different, and new to me. The relationship between Ashley and Eli is sensual from the get go and only gets hotter as you go along. I never bought into the love, maybe because the relationship felt rushed, but you do feel their lust and attraction for each other, which is astronomical.

Fall Into Darkness has a lot to enjoy in this new world created by Ms. Twombly. It’s a fast-paced, exciting and engaging read. The story will continue into book two and I’m curious to see where the author will take us.

I’m starting to feel like I need an intervention. DNF @78%.

The author weaves the backstory within the real-time narrative, which avoids the info dump at the beginning and allows the reader to learn as they go. I appreciate that formula, and the author did a fairly good job with the backstory element.

The premise is interesting in the first third of the book…

Ashley’s plight is a seer of death. If she makes eye contact with a person, she automatically has a detailed vision of their death. The burden and guilt are overwhelming. Her ex shamed her. Her uncle still died when she tried to warn him and cheat death. For her sanity, she decides to find a more remote place to live so she can avoid people.

Meanwhile, Eli is on a different path. A hunter archangel, he is trying to figure out why his comrades are falling - going dark and crazed. Why has the Maker abandoned them? Why is he feeling the pull to go dark himself? There are stark parallels to the way disenfranchised Christians feel in RL, but I didn’t feel that any of the plot became ‘preachy’ or religiously pushy. It’s more of a food for thought subtext.

Around the 20% mark, I’m starting starting to find those hang ups that make enjoyment suffer…

Eli shoving money down a waitresses boobs and saying he might “tap that.” Like why make him sound like a perv tool around all these OW just to contrast how less perv he is w/the FMC?~? Even the voice itself is off, he’s using language like some teenager in the throws of a hormone imbalance and all the other archangels speak like they’re still hitched to the Victorian wagon with the “shall I” lines.

Anyway.

Around 20%, the FMC’s profile starts to fall apart…

She’s 25. She sees when people die. Her ‘gift’ is so overwhelming that she becomes a suicidal recluse. Yet, she’s just NOW Googling her ability to learn about it? Screw a special power. She’s a special stupid.

Hell, she didn’t even have a freaking cat to keep her company. She’d always wanted a pet, but feared she’d see their death too.

Again, she’s 25, and she’s never looked into an animal’s eyes to see if her ability includes the animal kingdom, too? Wtf kinda shit is that?

^^^ What should be an emotional moment of her having a breakdown about not fitting in with the world is all but mooted by the author choosing to make the FMC TSTL with that shit^^^.

Around 30%, repetitiveness begins weighing down the story.

Of course, looking into people’s eyes was something she tried to avoid and the reason she’d made the move to Alaska. She had to steer clear of others.

^^ The reader made this journey with her. So WTF do we need to be reminded why. We don’t.

It seemed the older the angel the greater his strength and the ability to hold out.

^^^ So, I heard the first 50 times it was said.

*** It’s this kind of backtracking shit that kills the momentum of a storyline.

The FMC and MMC storylines finally converge after 30%, but I’m not impressed. The dialogue is just weird…

Ashley nodded, grateful he’d been nearby to rescue her. “I must have ruined your shirt.” “Huh?” He raised a brow. She pointed. “Your shirt. I assume it must have been covered in blood.” He looked at his naked chest. “Yeah. Ruined, so I tossed it in the fire.”

It’s weird that her life revolves around her gift, but she has almost zero reaction when she meets the ONLY person who she doesn’t see death in their eyes. Instead, we have f’ing musings about how her ex boyfriend’s shirt is tight on him. TSTL isn’t my jam.

“You were right. I need help in getting up, but it’s rude to point it out.”

It’s rude for the man to offer to help her because her leg is chewed up? It’s like the chick lost every brain cell the second she meets the MMC.

It just gets worse when he spills all his Angel secrets five seconds into knowing her, and her response is ‘well, cool, but I need to get dressed now.’ Huh?

The entire plot is unraveling. I mean an outcast angel thinks that finding his humanity entails impregnating someone and leaving them to raise a baby. Wouldn’t that be the opposite of being kind, thoughtful, and empathetic toward others?

How about this for a plot crater…

Archangel can choose to purposely get a human pregnant but can’t have anything to do w/the child, which is always female.

Said female child is the only potential mate for an archangel because only they can have lil archangel male babies.

They’re treasured. Yet, they’re also abandoned. How the fuck does that work? If these abandoned babies are the only hope to create the next gen of archangels and they’re mated to archangels, which makes them now immortal… wouldn’t they f’ing run into their archangel daddies once they’re mated to one of his fellow archangels. Yea, it’s like a dog circling it’s ass.

The insta love… it’s like a twig snapping. Not enough time nor meaning for me to give two flying shits.

Bottom Line

The start hooked me. I just didn’t know I was being reeled down a TSTL hill straight off a nonsense cliff. DNF because there’s no way in hell I’ll ever make it through the SECOND book of this shiznet.

I absolutely loved this book! I just love a good angel story and this was a good bad boy angel to love. The characters are so developed. I just felt like I was in the story. I can't wait until the next book. She should write 500 pages for us each time! I didn't want it to end.

I was so geeked when Valerie announced that she was releasing this book. I originally read about Eli and Ashely in her novella, Fallen, which appeared in the Love Least Expected Anthology. I was instantly taken with Eli, the angel who was sent to earth to find his humanity but really, he was such a bad boy (which I love.. I am a complete sucker for... always!!). Anyway, I adored him and when she said I would get to read more about him... well yeah I was totally geeked out. Ahhhh the things that make my fan girl heart pound. :)

So now that Eli and Ashley have their whole story, I am more in love with them than before. For real, their story was simply.... amazing! I always talk about the male lead in a story because you know, I love them but for a change I'll start with the female lead, in this book, Ashley. I adored her and normally the female characters are harder for me to warm up to. Maybe that is because in romance they tend to be the damsel in distress which I find annoying but not Miss Ashley. Nope this girl can and does hold her own. I thought she was awesome. Valerie does such a great job bringing her character to life and making us readers not only understand and feel her but identify with her. She has such strength and determination to find her place, to be her own person. She has always felt like a freak, out of touch with those around her, she is hindered by her abilities but in spite of all of that, she is determined and shines on the pages. Okay so on to Eli who of course stole the show for me. He is so .... bad! Not bad guy bad but rebellious, stubborn, alpha and all that... all the things we readers love in romance. He was perfect! I personally think he was grossly misunderstood but the Seven send him to earth to find the humanity, compassion that he has lost. He is stripped of his wings and has to redeem himself or he will spend his eternity in Hell. His arrival is perfectly timed to meet up with Ashley when she really needs him (okay a damsel moment but it was totally played way better than the sterotype) anyway these two are dynamo together, they really are. The twists, turns and excitement are awesome. There is so much to love in this new world that Valerie has created. It was so exciting to read and very engaging. I was hooked from the get go and I cannot wait to see where the storyline goes from here. It was a great read!!

***I received an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book from the author for an honest review.***

OH MY ELI!!! I know an odd way to begin a book review, but have you seen the COVER??? Yes, Eli lol. Ok, I digressed. I first learned about this book by reading the short story. It was at that time I was hooked, and I needed the author, Valerie to give me more. I believe after the fans kept asking, she delivered this amazing, sexy tale of the Angel bounty hunter Eli who is on a quest to learn why so many angels have fallen yet maintain his disdain for humans....until he meets Ashley.

Ashley, starts off being a bit timid, and "different" evolves into this strong woman who would stop at nothing to fight for the man she loves. And when I say stop at nothing...that's exactly what I mean. You'll see...

Eli, is working and sort of gets reprimanded because, he like most men follow their own rules. In order for him to return to his Angel duties he has a task (no spoilers). He meets Ashley and you'd think it ends there...uh un. There is a lot of HELL they go through together. In fact, I was so upset about how this book was going that I believed I tossed my iPad across the bed more than once.

Valerie has a very unique style to writing her Paranomals. It is engaging, and captivates you from beginning to end. Her characters are very well written and likable, leaving you with a sleepless night or early morning. This particular novel does just that.

I give this book FIVE STARS and it's a must read for those who enjoy hot, sexy angels, romance and an amazing plot!

Ashley has lived her life as a freak, seeing a person's death in their eyes, and decides to move to Alaska and live in solitude. Eli is a hunter angel and is very concerned about where the angels are going under the guidance of the Seven. Angels and mates are disappearing, falling into darkness, and no one seems to care. When he is judged by them to find his humanity to be sent to hell for eternity, he ends up in Alaska and helps to rescue Ashley from the hellhounds attacking her.

As this story moves along, we find out more about the darkness, what is causing it, what happens to the mates, and how deep it has sunk its claws into the angels. We also learn just how far Ashley will go to save Eli. This is the first book in a series that shows incredible promise. I loved the story of Ashley and Eli, even though it was full of insta-love, it was done in such a way as to be believable. Both Ashley and Eli admit to things moving fast between them, but once they make the decision to be together, they are all in.

Well written and smoothly paced, with no grammatical errors that I found, this was a delight to read and I look forward to reading further into the series.

Ive read the other series' of books so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with this one, and I wasn't. It felt as though they were predestined to be together, what she became though was awesome. Loved them together, her discoveries, allies and enemies. The twist in the story kept me reading enthralled to the end, but what an ending. I couldn't put the book down until I had read every page, I had to know what was going to happen next. The ending, that will keep me on edge until the next book, in fact I will read it again when the next book comes out, the follow on to read on without disruption. Good book, enthralling storylines. Highly recommend you read it, and the other books. A*****************

This was my first book by Valerie Twombly and it certainly won't be my last. Especially after that ending! I've often had difficulty with books about angels and demons, but the storyline here was fast paced and had me intrigued. I occasionally got confused between the good guys and the bad guys as there were a lot of characters to keep track of, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. I thought Ashley was a strong female lead and Eli was a hot alpha male who kicked ass. Their love story was strong and the ending killed me! I need to know what happens next! If you want a good paranormal romance, then I definitely recommend this one!

Well that was on hot as hell book. This the first book I have
read by Valerie Twombley, but it wont be the last. I was told
about this book by a friend. And i am so glad I read it. This
is a new take on heaven and hell and the Angels that serve
them. In this book when Eli is sent to Ashley it is a wonderful
thing. As she is truly something special, something not seen
in a very long time. She grew up not knowing what she was,
and is so shocked buy all that is happening. When she is
taken Eli makes the biggest sacrifice to save her. And now
it is up to her to save him. When you Love someone you
would do anything for them even if it ment your soul would
be lost. Got to love this story and can not wait till book two
to see what happens next. Now before I ruin this for you
I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as
I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving
a review. The Authors really like it when you do,
they value your opinions too.

Its official I have a new book boyfriend and he's an angel....no seriously he's an angel! The main characters Eli a hunter angel and Ashley a woman who can see your death just by looking into your eyes....everything goes out the door. Its not as simple as good and evil in the world we think we know. When your very soul is on the line and love is a rik you never thought you'd take, how do you know what you're doing is right? Written with enough detail you leave you wanting more but never so much that you want to abandon the book. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait to see what happens next. Now if you'll excuse me while I go try and fit the pieces of my heart back together due to the ending of this book hitting me right in the feels. I voluntarily chose to review a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Another great new series by a favorite paranormal romance author.
Angels are falling right and left at an alarming rate.....sadly no one knows why. Hunter Angel Eli has not been following orders as of late.....bringing in fallen angels to stand before the tribunal of seven.....rather he has chosen to kill them. So the seven has condemned him to earth and taken away his wings.

Human female Ashley has always been a freak, or so she thinks....who else sees peoples deaths when they look into another's eyes, but a freak? Running to her family's cabin in the outback of Alaska is her answer....isolate herself from all others. Enter hellhounds and a sexy angel with no wings....what follows is an exciting love story....

Will this fast-paced tale have a happy ending?....get it and see!

This story has a refreshing and HOT twist on Fallen Angels. Eli starts out cocky and a bit protected of his own heart and comes out a savior in Ashley’s eyes. Ashley starts out on a ‘train wreck’ of a life and finds herself falling for Eli. Ashley has a feel of being scared and depressed a lot but still has a brave side to her. I’m not sure I would be looking anyone in the eye if I were Ashley; I definitely would be too afraid of what I would see. This story kicks off straight from the start and holds on tight. As always, Valerie Twombly makes my heart race with her writing style and characters. I am really anxious to see what happens next.

I loved this! I'm so looking forward to this new series! An exciting story of fallen angels, mates, demons, and love!
"Damn it female!Stay out of my battles." I love a sexy dominant man. I would have hated to have the gift that Ashley did. But, I see why it was important. The sacrifices made for love will melt your heart and keep you turning page after page. I certainly did not expect the ending but wow, it has me anticipating the next book in this series! Eli, the Archangel bounty hunter, has one job: to retrieve fallen angels and bring them to the Tribunal for judgement. That seems to be a problem for him, considering his charges haven't been coming back alive! Eli had witnessed his once friends committing awful acts on humans, but instead of dealing with the situation in a humane way, Eli just kills the angels and leaves the poor humans to suffer. The only way the Tribunal saw fit to punish Eli was to condemn him to Earth to find his humanity. Before falling, Tegan, Eli's commander, must remove Eli's wings, literally.....OUCH!

When Eli falls, he lands in the middle of nowhere Alaska! YA! With no shirt on!! And it's snowing!! Super Sexy is just in time to save the day!! Hark! I hear a cry for help! As SS glides across the snow like the wonderman he is towards danger, he makes out a woman being attacked by a dog-like creature, great! So after rescuing the damsel in distress, Eli feels a strong need to stay with the young woman and nurse her wounds, or to lick, nurse, lick, what's the difference?!

This story had a ridiculously great premise and has me wishing it could be a full novel because I want more! The icing on the cake was the fact that Ashley isn't your ordinary human and, in fact, turns out to be just what Eli needs! The chemistry between them was more destiny making sure it got done right than anything else. It was pretty cool. The snow storm that prevented Eli from just leaving once Ashley woke up was the perfect scenario to keep them locked up in close quarters, to get to "know" each other, if you know what I mean, wink wink!

My favorite part of the book had to be the shower scene! I'm on the fence as to whether it's the funniest scene, or sexiest scene! I mean, the whole idea is just out there, but it is a fictional book, so why the hell not, right?! When Ashley wakes up after the attack, Eli explains all her injuries to her. Despite what Eli has told her about not being able to stand on her own because of the deep wound on her leg, she insists on taking a shower to wash the dried blood off her entire body. You know what's coming next, right? Ashley and Eli, in the shower with their underwear on! Now, Ashley is supposed to be mortified, ok.....So during the shower, she asks him if he would mind washing her back, uh huh....SURE Eli replies, lol. In order to do that, Ashley has to brace herself, so she puts palms on the shower wall, back facing Eli, and bent forward to put all her weight on her good leg, so her bum is up pointing at him! First thought that came to mind, Oh my god, he's going to just do her right now! No one has that kind of restraint, just boink her!! Then..........hysterical laughter!

There is a point to Eli being dropped in Ashley's neck of the woods. Ashley has her own issue of being able to see how a person will die when she looks in their eyes! But not when she looked in Eli's eyes. So as we get to the nitty gritty, the book ends! On a cliffhanger!! A note from the author, more to come in 2015! No fair!! I want to know what those jerks, the "Seven," have to say for themselves!! So there ya go.......I really liked the book, it was cool, funny, sexy, dramatic and suspenseful! Hurry please and release the next chapter before I go insane, thank you :)

Outstanding read!
A well-written tale of angels and demons. Eli and Ashley bond immediately but their path to happiness has more than a few obstacles. Ashley starts out a sad character because of her odd ability. After meeting Eli and being exposed to the hidden world of angels, she ends up discovering her true nature and turns into a truly strong being. Interesting secondary characters and the mystery of the fallen angels keep a hold on the reader until the end. The book does end on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens with Ashley in the next book.

Fall into Darkness by Valerie Twombly an angelic five star read. This is a first novel to the Eternally mated series, and tells the story of the of Ashley a Nephilim born or true love. We read her parents story in An Angels torment this was the story of the two people whose true love create Ashley, Archangel Tegan who is an elite soldier and his human love Ana who he wants to claim as his own, Tegan was never one to follow the rules, and must face the consequences of his actions. Much like Ely, who after not following the rules is sent to earth to find some compassion. He finds himself in the middle of nowhere Alaska in the snow. Forces to battle hell hounds to save a life, a life that will change the path his is on forever. He saves Ashley’s life, and one things leads to another then he takes things to the next level without any thoughts of what will come next.
After years of not being able to look people in the eye for fear of what she might see Ashley is finally able to when a Steel-blue eyed stranger saves her life, will she be strong enough to survive the battle she will face.
This is a lovely novel, it gives you an insight into what’s to come without giving to much of the game away, I can’t wait to see the characters again and watch Ashley will do next on her journey. Valerie Twombly writes Angels that aren’t all good and humans that aren’t all bad, it’s a very good and new combination to an age-old story. Valerie brings the reader a fresh love for the genre in my eyes.

I was so excited to read Eli's story after reading the prequel to this series. I loved this story.

Eli is an archangel hunter and tasked with hunting down his fallen comrads. More and more angels have fallen to the darkness. It's a mystery as to how and by whom. Eli is bitter and has lost his faith in humanity, and completely disregards orders set by the Seven. As punishment he stripped of his wings and sent to Earth to find his humanity. There he comes across Ashley. Their attraction is instant and he finds himself drawn to her, despite his reservation on never being mated. Ashley turns out to be more than anyone ever expected and the hope the angels need.

I loved Eli's character. I liked that he battled with the darkness that was growing inside of him, tempting him to fall. He also lost his faith in humanity. His motives were tainted. This was so refreshing that he wasn't a perfect angel. He too could lose his faith. I also loved his relationship with Ashley even though their romance was instant. I liked their willingness to fight and sacrifice for one another.

This story has so many twists. I loved where this story takes you. Its filled with darkness and mystery. Some unexpected things happen that makes this story get better. I loved the ending. I will say that I thought this book was a little slow and I was hoping for a lot more action, but I loved this book nonetheless. I can't wait to read the next book.

This story of bounty hunter angel, Eli and the tragically gifted, Ashley was epic and heartbreaking. Ashley grew up not knowing her father or that he was an angel. She just believed that she is a freak because of her gift of seeing death. Eli is a warrior angel determined to never take a mate. But after Eli disobeys rules for the third time, the rulers of heaven send him to earth to recover his humanity. Luckily for Ashley, he arrives within a short distance of her while she is being mauled by a hellhound. This is a beautiful love story full of hope yet met with adversity at every turn. It is so full of emotions, I couldn't even nae them all but in the end it is so worth the time to read it. And now I have to jump into book 2.

REVIEW

*May contain spoilers *

In this book we get Angels and Fallen Angels what more could you want? Well add in some other beings and you get one heck of a story.

Eli is a hunter and a rebel of sorts and when he does something that is not allowed his wings are stripped and he is thrown into frozen Alaska.

Ashley has lived her entire life thinking of herself as a freak. She sees things in people. She chooses to escape and ends up in frozen Alaska.
One night she is attacked and then saved by one sexy alpha male. Ashley should be afraid but she is not. Eli should keep his mouth shut about what and who he is but he does not.

Eli, Ashley, and many others have their work cut out for them on saving souls who should never have been taken. Can they do it?
Well grab your copy and find out.

The characters are drawn to each other and in reality; they learn they need each other for many reasons.
The author gives us a very suspenseful story, well-developed characters, and aside from some grammar issues (missing words), this book is good and I cannot wait to see who gets the next story.
I would highly recommend it to those who love a good suspenseful paranormal with hot romance.

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.
