As a new member of the supernatural world, Sabrina discovers the truth about her past and must learn who she really is. To do this, she will have to team up with Detective Alex Price, the one man she can't stand. Only together can they figure out who murdered her and why they are killing her friends off one by one.

Determined to save them and the city she loves from the evil plot they uncover, Sabrina will put her soul on the line...even if it means going to Hell and fighting Lucifer himself.

Mark of the Necromancer by Tamsin L Silver
Sabrina Grayson series #1. Dark urban fantasy.
Sabrina Grayson is dead. Wrong place, wrong time. Detective Alex Price isn’t willing to lose her and turns her into a vampire. Now Bree is a necromancer and needs to learn all about her new world and leave her rich socialite activities behind.
There is evil on the prowl and Bree’s friends are dying. Alex and Bree team up to investigate and soon she’s on the Death Highway meeting Satan himself.
It’s going to be a wild ride.

The Death Highway is interesting and not what it seems. The toll booth people funny, especially the second time around. I also enjoyed the pool scene.
The tension between Bree and Alex is not surprising when it turns into a slow burn romance.
I did find Satan a chuckle.
Mostly wrapped up but a few strings left open.

Sabrina's world is turned upside down one night. One minute she's a carefree socialite. The next she's a vampire who also happens to be a Necromancer. She teams up with her childhood friend, Alex, who also happens to be a detective to solve several murders. There are some fun characters in this book. The book doesn't end with a cliffhanger, but you know there is more to the story.

I enjoyed the narrator, Megan Kirby. I'm looking forward to book two.

Not a book for me. I just could not like the FMC or the MMC. The logic in why they did things so extreme was beyond belief. You can tell it was done that way to make the story more exciting… it just made me cringe :/ I don’t know if it has sex in it or not but either way the book seems like it’s more for young adults/teens. Not for someone who reads more adult books and complex writing. 🤷‍♀️

The vampires in this book was one step away from sparkling or turning into bats. I’m at the point where this fully grown man tells two cops to go for donuts. He also works with cops even tho he’s supposed to be dead and is a vampire. This is more of a “let’s argue so much until it causes tension then we can be in love”. I would’ve loved it when I was a teen.

This book pulled me in fully early on. Sabrina enters the supernatural world in a jarring way, but unlike with many paranormal romance/urban fantasies, her embracing of her new life is kinda fun! Things take lots of turns as Sabrina begins to gain an understanding of herself in this new form, but the turns become hairpin turns when she begins to gain an understanding of the real her that she hasn’t even known or remembered due to circumstances. Sabrina has a lot to figure out, but until then she will solve some cases and I am here for it. I need more!!

The book had me hooked at vampire meets necromancer. It was a super fun concept and not one I had ever read before. Sabrina is a fantastic main character and I loved getting to see the many facets of her personality. The plot took me on several twists and turns. It was a fun ride! The audiobook was very well done and I thought the narrator did a great job of making Sabrina come to life. I can hear her voice still. Please let there be more to this story and world!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When a contemplative stroll through Central Park turns shockingly violent, New York City socialite Sabrina “Bree” Grayson is abruptly plunged into the world of Manhattan supernatural. Vampire Alex Price turns Sabrina vampire to save her life and suddenly the seemingly shallow and entitled Bree must navigate a life with a new undead perspective. The acrimonious relationship between a vampire and her maker unfolds alongside a complex plot of action and intrigue.
Quite simply, I adored this book. Sabrina is a formidable heroine with class and sass. She grows into her role as vampire and Manhattan Necromancer with strength, humour, and a bit of bumbling. This book has the tone and pacing of fan favourite series like Darynda Jones’ Charley Davidson and Shannon Mayer’s Rylee Adamson. The characters are fun, creative, and entertaining; the plot rich and riveting. I was glued to this premiere installment and invested in the action. I laughed several times; like disruptive laughter eliciting questioning glances from family members.
Alex is a fabulous male hero and romantic interest. He’s atypical, lacking those wooden alpha characteristics common in this genre. He’s dangerous, thoughtful, and intelligent with sex appeal to spare. He reminds me of Karina Halle’s (anti)hero Dex Foray from the Experiment in Terror series. He was a refreshing diversion for sure.
I am truly hesitant to write anything negative about this stellar book, but alas, I feel a need to justify a less-than-five sheep rating. I found the identity crisis of Sabrina/Bree, while justifiable, rather convoluted and overstated. The conclusion of the book was quite drawn and slightly more saccharine than I like, but that’s a personal preference. However, my biggest reservation with this book is the cover design. I find its amateur, derivative look to be off-putting. I know a lot of readers – right or wrong -- judge a book by its cover and I fear this book will be passed over for that reason. A simpler cover that leaves more to the reader’s imagination would be far more intriguing and appealing.
Overall, Mark of the Necromancer is a terrific ride and I anxiously await the next installment.

Mark of the Necromance is a great urban fantasy/paranormal romance. The world building is great. The world is interesting and filled with different supernatural creatures, including vampires, witches, necromancers, and even a werewolf. In addition to modern day New York City the settings are the other world (Death Highway), purgatory, and hell. The story centers on Sabrina Grayson, a wealthy, spoiled socialite. After she becomes a vampire, secrets from her past start to unravel. She has a hard time reconciling who she is now with the spoiled woman she was before. Her love interest Alex is someone she remembers only peripherally from her past. Although on the surface Alex seems to despise her at first, his care for her is evident. The romance is very slow burn and often takes a backseat to the paranormal elements. The romance plot ends in a satisfying HEA but here are loose ends in some aspects of the paranormal storyline. Since the book is listed as Sabrina Grayson Book 1, I was hoping for a sequel to answer some of these questions. Even though I still have questions, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who likes urban fantasy and slow burn paranormal romance.

I loved this book. There is so much packed into this story. Bree is at the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up as a vampire. Alex, a friend from her past is the one that rescues her by turning her. This begins Bree’s journey of coming into her own. She learns her mother has been using witches to mess with her memories and life choices. This was an action-packed journey. As the story unfolds you learn more and more about Bree’s past and the powers that she is growing into. Really enjoyed this adventure and did not want the story to end.

Sabrina is having a bad day and then it gets worse. As they story unfolds you find out more has happened to her over the years. Alex also has to reexam his feelings in light of new information that is revealed. This story is full of magic and mayhem. And while not my normal jam the humor in the story really helped me enjoy the story and kept it from feeling so dark. #CMCon25

Okay, I actually got this book at a Con a few weeks ago, and I was SUPER excited to read it based on what the author had described it as, and let me tell you… it EXCEEDED EVERY expectation!! Seriously, wow wow WOW!!!

The sassy savageness was *chefs kiss*, the family TEA that was being hidden from Sabrina *jaw drop* the vamp lore in this? INCREDIBLE. The plot twist was PHE-FREAKING-NOMINAL. I’m a Magic/mystery/dark rom girly, so getting a detective murder mystery WITH a family secrets trope WITH the supernatural elements AND a love story?? I have honestly re-read this TWICE already, and I hope there’s SO much more to Sabrina’s story!!

The way I loved watching Sabrina grow and become who she ALWAYS was, and who she was meant to be!! And the real life aspects of correcting and checking yourself so you don’t go back to the old you, seriously hit me in the CHEST. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the bitchiness she could bring when she needed, and the SASS level was 1000/10, but she came into herself (and proved to be a pretty badass detective).

Sab and Alex *HEART EYES*, the growth in their relationship and the REALIZATIONS they both find out together, INCREDIBLE. I loved the frenemies-lovers trope, and I loved that the book didn’t FOCUS on the relationship, but still gave you all the little swoony moments everyone loves.

PS. A GIANT FOOKUUU TO SABRINAS PARENTAL UNITS. That is all.
