Helpful guide to herbal remedies

This book begins with practical advice on how to extract and prepare herbs, and then provides reference information on a wide range of herbal remedies. Where appropriate, warnings are given of possible adverse reactions and risk to health. It's important to remember that many plants produce chemicals that are designed to kill invading bacteria and fungi, dissuade animals from eating them, as well as see off competitor plants, so adherence to guidelines and awareness of risk is important. The book is well laid out and informative, and will provide a good additional resource to anyone interested in creating their own herbal remedies.

Herbal Lore, A Guide to Herbal Medicine is the most comprehensive book on Herbal Medicine that I have ever read — and I have read a fair few! Not only does this book discuss a variety of herbs and their uses, but more importantly it gives you step by step instructions on how to use them. I have yet to come across a book that tells you how to take an extract, make an infusion, a tea, a tincture, a compress, a lotion, etc... Usually, I have to rely on Google to find these things out. It is great that all this information is in one book.

There are also comprehensive instructions on how to make a herbal bag, a candle, incense and a Pomander! This book covers it all.

This is a book that I am sure I will be referring to again and again.

I Highly Recommend this book.

This is a fantastic guide to herbal remedies and uses. Ms. Simmill gives easy, step by step directions on preparing decoctions, extractions, infusions, and tinctures, as well as detailed instructions on how to use these herbal extracts to make compresses, poultices, lotions, and much more. There is even a chapter dedicated to the creation of magical items, such as incense and herbal candles, which I found particularly interesting.

The majority of this book is comprised of a massive herbal reference guide, detailing the magical and medicinal uses of each herb and suggestions on how to use them, such as a poultice to relieve arthritis or a tea to soothe an upset stomach.

I love how thorough this guide is. It’s full of useful information regarding each herb, and the detailed instructions on how to use them in various applications are easy to follow and understand.

I love creating my own herbal remedies, and this book contains all the information I need in one easy-to-use guide. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the magical or medicinal use of herbs!

I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.
Every day as see watch our favorite television/cable program, we’re continuously being bombarded with commercials from multi-million and multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical hawking their drugs. And if we listen them carefully we hear all the side effects taking these drugs might have on us.
In addition to this, on those same stations/channels, we hear numerous law firms and attorneys wanting to know if we’ve taken certain drugs [or have had medical devices implanted on us] and have suffered any one of a myriad of medical problems. Why? Because you could now be part of major lawsuit.
So, combining these two, one has to wonder why research is continuously going on to create more and more problematic drugs? The general, opinionated reason and belief is greed for the next available dollar consumers are willing to fork over for these so-called “miracle” cures.
The amazing thing is, given all this medical technology, people and some cultures, like the Chinese, believe in taking traditional herbal preparations instead.
What the author, Ms. Simmill, has done in her book, is to compile a relatively extensive compendium of a wide range of herbs and their uses in providing holistic solutions. In addition, she gives her readers step-by-step instructions on making a wide range of items encompassing creams, herbal bags, incense, salves, tinctures, and poultices, and above all how to use them. To meet this end, the book contains a listing of over 100 of these herbs, their medical characteristics and usage, as well as any medical contraindications for their use.
And if you’re wondering how qualified the author is to render this information to her readers; all you need do is to read about her extensive background, which she has provided:
“Ms Simmill is a qualified Project manager, Herbal practitioner, and Usui Reiki master, with certifications in various fields of holistic therapy; inclusive of aromatherapy, crystal healing, colour therapy, ethereal Reiki, Indian head massage, shaman power Reiki, sound therapy, and massage therapy. She has spent many years researching various practices of magic and herbal medicine and has recently completed training and qualifications in Special Educations Needs and Disabilities [SEND].”
This is a book I’m definitely going to get a printed copy of, for use as a reference book; but in the meantime I’m giving this book and its author, 5 STARS.
