The things that bug me about this book: -It's in desperate need of a proofreader- to the point that understanding is hindered at times. -It's amateur hour, when it comes to a language-learning textbook: the format is suboptimal and the exercises are either too easy or aren't prefaced with the skills/vocabulary necessary to do them. -The proselytizing. Every chapter ends with a Bible verse. I get that the Bible is one of the most translated books, and those translations can be a resource for studying languages that lack them, and so that was tolerable. However, the entire final chapter is a reading activity of four articles about things like accepting Jezikri as your personal saviour. I suppose that could be useful if I were a missionary to Haiti, but otherwise it seemed a wasteful use of my study time/efforts, and an unprofessional move for a language course.
Saving graces that kept this book from getting a 1-star rating: -It is A resource for a language that doesn't have many. -The audio was usable and useful. -I actually was able to read the long articles by the end of the course. Though, I doubt this would be the case for an amateur language learner or any reader without prior knowledge of French...and I have no confidence in my productive skills after this course alone.
