Overall, I enjoyed reading "The Shift" and found that it is just as exciting as the first book in the series. With all the side stories taking place, there's always somebody to cheer for or to loathe. The action is non-stop and edge of your seat suspense, filled with many twists and turns. Who is friend and who is foe? The author keeps it real by showing readers that the characters are not invincible and some die along the way. Highly recommended for story content and plot!. Readers will also learn that the virus is shifting and becoming more menacing, moaning to themselves after reading the statement over a hundred times throughout the story.

Mr. Richardson, as I mentioned in my review of your first book in this series, this book, too, is rife with typos, missing words and grammatical errors. I strongly suggest that you take the time to re-read your own writing or hire a proofreader. The errors are distracting and cause readers to pause in the reading to try and make sense of the sentence. Continued reviews by readers that point this out will begin to turn off other potential readers and impact your sales. Your story is good...fixing it will make it great!

A lot of spelling and grammar issues as well as typo's, however, that should not stop you from reading the trilogy (sadly, errors seem to have become the norm). I am looking forward to starting the third book.

This book grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go until I finished it. It had lots of action and a bit of a surprise in the middle. I really loved this one and am starting the final book in the trilogy as soon as I finish this review!

I really like this series. I don't usually go for the world ending books but this one is different. It's kind of a 'what if' instead of it's all ending and a few will bring it back. The twists and turns keep it interesting and I am on to book three.

The Shift

This being the only book in this series that I have read left me at a disadvantage but I still found it to be very interesting and entertaining

Antigenic shift is the process by which two or more different strains of a virus, or strain of two or more different viruses, combine to form a new subtype. This shift typically occurs when a human flu virus crosses with a flu virus that usually affects animals (such as birds or pigs). One such example is COVID-19, coronavirus disease 2019. Scary?
Picking up where we left off from volume one we continue to follow the same groups. Chad Huntley had been snatched by a greedy traitor and turned over to the Russians. Everyone wants the poor guys’ blood and the Russians will transform him into a pincushion. Former retired Captain, now active Major Brenda Alston is working with the CDC and the military to get a vaccine in production. Captain Derek Alston and his Rangers are chasing after the Russians, desperately wanting their “package” back. President Baron is trying to extract his head from his butt long enough to act like a President to get back on his original track. Jane’s not going to like that, neither will Reginold! Master Chief, now Second Lieutenant Cooper and his Seals are ordered to Boston to retrieve another irreplaceable virologist named Boatner who has experience working with the earlier H5N1 virus. Will we ever get the “source” back to the lab? Is romance in Brenda and Cooper’s future? Will President Baron break Jane’s spell over him? So many questions! The North Koreans, Germans, and Russians are still on our land but they're finding conquest a little harder than they figured. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Well things aren't looking good for Cooper and his team there are more missions and threats and the pandemic continues. Just when I think I can follow the corruption - theres more! Reginald's reach is long, and it looks like Jane's been a very busy girl. Chad, the Source, can't seem to stay safe and just who is '13'? This book is action-packed, a wild ride and just when you think you've heard it all - theres more, all in the deliciously smooth voice of James Romick, I need book 3!!

This is without a doubt one of the best Military Adventures I have read. The story is great the charecters are well developed and beleavable. This is hard to find in this type of story. I for one love this work, and it is a pleasure to join this author on his quest to make readers happy. This series has been a hoot, thanks for a great adventure.

This book is so powerful and well written. To read this and to know all we are going thru right now with our own pandemic is incredible it’s like mr. Richardson wrote this book yesterday. The characters are all strong people you realize as you read this what our marines navy army really do for us that we are oblivious to.. enjoy this book

Pretty good!

Lots of twists and turns - some predictable, some not. Not a real fan of military books. However, this one grabbed my attention much quicker than the first book.

Great story-line & character developement
This is sooo much like the COVID-19 outbreak - its uncanny - but obviously not the same.
Liked how the plot covered all sides of the story
Only down-side was that it all seemed a little rushed at the end of the last chapter.
No spoilers from me - but it does lead into the next book - Wildfire - nicely 🙂

As was true of the first book in this series (Apache Dawn), The Shift continued non-stop edge of your seat suspense. It is full of twists and turns, many unexpected. The Shift continues to follow the same multipal characters, but introduces more secondary characters. I was not happy with the death of the only female protagonist, it made no sence and did not really appear to serve the story.

As was the case with the first book (Apache Dawn), the current book is full of missing words or phrases, typos and grammerical errors. All of these editorial problems are extremely distracting, causing me to stop and try to figure out what the word or phrase should be. As a result, I rated the book a 4. The story premis is outstanding, very believable and very possible.

Dispite the editioral issues, I highly recommend this series!

I enjoyed this book like I did the first book in the series. It has a lot of unexpected twists in it that you don't see coming.
