Wildfire is the second book of the Everealm Series. It is recommended to be read in the following order:
J.D. Wright is a military wife, mother of four, and author of romance, paranormal, and fantasy romance books filled with strong-willed heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and sprinkled with humor and adventure. J.D. creates artistry in many ways, as a baker and cake artist by day and author by night. You can usually find her typing away at the computer or covered in frosting.
Since discovering she has a knack for writing, J.D. has so far written and self-published eight books of the Everealm and Songs of Everealm Series and is now venturing into the world of contemporary romance. She is also writing paranormal YA with her new superhero-themed series. She is an avid reader and lover of all things romance so she always includes a good love story in her paranormal and fantasy novels.
Book two did not disappoint excellent writing, story, character development, and relatable characters who you begin to love (and hate) you feel like you know these characters your on their journey with them.
A very exciting journey, with twists and turns magic, and mayhem. I really think Bree is making such a good Queen, regardless of how young she is. She has a good head on her shoulders, and thinks things through. All her friends are great support, and of course the enemies are in play and make things very interesting.
The way the book ended, I see book three will rival one and two, I can't wait. I hope it's out very soon. I shall go stir crazy waiting.
These books are worth reading, they really are very well written, and will take you on a wonderful journey, one you won't want to end.
I really enjoyed this book. It was better than book 1 in my opinion. I felt more connected with the characters and I liked that they had a few adventures in this one. I love the twists in the book. I wasn't sure I was going to read book 3 even though I really liked this book, just because we seem to be getting even more characters and I'm not a big fan of having a big cast of characters with their own story lines when the original story isn't over yet. BUT I will, just to see Ok I admit it, I'm hooked!
This picks up where Everealm left off. Here we no longer need the history and background so we get more of the romance and danger. We have Silas’s wife showing off her power and greed. Her Mage has a secret agenda but she doesn’t care because she wants to show her might. So what do they do? They use wildfire. The most dangerous fire a mage can use. this fire can get a Mage to lose their magic if caught. And they do get caught.
while the crew of Rowan, Bree, Sedonie, Dagan and Finn are getting to be closer and work on keeping the realm safe they are also fighting this. Even Dahlia joins in on the fight. We see Rowan and Bree get closer and learn to become a couple. Dagan work on his relationship with Sedonie and help her with her magic. Finn fall for Sedonie’s sister and be loyal to his friends. Cicilly still has those dreams but it isn’t as daunting.
We learn about fusion and the history of Mages and Sabras. There are balls and knighthoods. Knighthoods that give us an unexpected twists. But we also see the fairies who help keep other creatures alive. Or at least one and this one causes havoc on Reeve. Reeve who is sweet and kind but falls for her. And is scared. Scared she won’t love him because she can have anyone.
So know we have our relationship dynamics forming. But we also add another region into our book that has some problems. A marriage or two that aren’t desired. One that causes a princess to go rogue. Go princess go.
The details of what is going on is just as enchanting as ever and so is the romance and danger. The danger increases to where you get to see the whole picture of the power dynamics involved. The romance is steamy at times but more important these are couples that work together, respect each other and communicate with one another. they are a group that helps each other and finds ways to support each other and gain strength from one another.
Now the whole realm is dangerous and fighting to survive due to one power hungry queen and mage. We get kidnappings and rescues and a mystery of a amulet. A amulet that I believe will cause some damage to the realm. Edmund is another new character who is more than he seems. This is a fast paced, character driven enchanting book that builds on the first book and continues to give us more. More danger, world building, complexity and fun with a smattering of romance.
Picking up where book one left off, Wildfire is much more fast paced than Everealm, with a greatly expanded world and even more characters in the mix. I especially loved the addition of the faeries as Bree and Rowan were forced to search further afield for allies. I especially loved the faery Rhea. She's such a cute character - although perhaps kissing everyone she crossed paths with isn't the best way to find the Prince Charming she still believes in!
I can't even with the characters! There are so many fantastic newbies, alongside Bree and Rowan and my beloved Sidonie and Dagan, and you really get a sense of this enormous and incredible world. Now that the characters have been established there's sense of loyalty and friendship that permeates the novel. Bree is growing into her role as Queen, and although I'd like to see her let her hair down a bit, she's comfortable in who she is and her place in her kingdom with Rowan. Sidonie gets fleshed out more in this book two, learning more about who she is and coming to terms with her abilities alongside her wizard lover Dagan. They are still just as great a pairing as they were in book one, with chemistry that could melt the hardest heart! I really liked the fact that the sex/love/romance/whatever you want to call then scenes maintained the edge they had in Everealm. I find sometimes with sequels that authors will either dial up or down a certain aspect of their writing to recapture their earlier success with what proved popular, but J.D.Wright still gets a good balance of hot and heavy without it seeming contrived.
One thing that let this book down ever so slightly, and the reason I give it four stars instead of five, was the big bad in this story. Silas was such a brilliant villain, I felt that he had left impossibly big shoes to fill. There's plenty at stake, even more so this time around as more and more kingdoms, families and characters have a stake in the outcome, but there's no "Silas" to be found this time out.
That ending though! I almost wish I hadn't started this series until book three was out. I won't spoil it but suffice to say, the word "cliffhanger" is fitting! All I can say is bring on book three!
Wildfire picks up where the first novel left off. Even though they had gotten rid of the evil villain in the first series, there are new villains that threaten their peace. This time Bree and Rowan must turn to other magical creatures that may help them, the fairies. The wizard couple Dagan and Sidonie are also looking for answers to family secrets. Can they be able to save their kingdom again?
I feel that Wildfire has greatly expanded from Everealm. There are some surprising secrets that are in store. I liked how the fairies that were mentioned a little in the Everealm novel play a bigger part in this novel. All of the characters seem to be more mature and have definitely grown from the first. There is also newer characters that are just as interesting as the returning characters. Therefore, I felt that Wildfire gives us a clear path to the plot and its characters and where the story is going.
Bree is again a practical ruler. Yet, while I thought that I knew her in Everealm, she has surprised me by revealing a secret. I liked the continuation of the love story between her and Rowan, for there are new problems that lay before them. I also felt that Sidione has been more fleshed out. She has an important role in this series. I like how she is coming to terms with who she is and her magic. This story is also her journey of acceptance and answers.
Overall, this story is about friendship, family, and love. It is also a quest about a girl finding her own identity. This story is more fast-paced than Everealm. I like how there are secrets, magic, adventure, and action. I definitely like the ending. It ended with a BANG because it is such a surprising twist. The world-building is more clearer. This story has gotten me more excited for the next book in the series, and I am definitely going to read it. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in a light-hearted epic fantasy series with a sweet love story. (Note: This book was given to me as part of a blog tour in exchange for an honest review.)
This is the second book in the Everealm series, I was absolutely smitten with all of the characters right away and it just got better in this novel. The characters were all young adults who had, by fate, joined together to run the kingdom of Junacave - and now they're a little older and getting into their stride.
Their bonds to each other have deepened and they're ready to start fighting back against the darker forces working outside their kingdom. I'm still loving the relationship between Dagan the grumpy wizard and Sidonie the warrior sorceress, the two of them still have a lot to face together and I can't wait to see how they cope.
What I particularly like about this series is that all the characters are exceptionally well developed, but also flawed. Most of them are brutally stubborn but they all take care of each other, despite their own hard headedness and opposing opinions. The number of main characters is definitely growing, but there's enough backstory and explanation between each one and how they tie in to the story that you don't have any problems following.
We also became better acquainted with the fae and their mythology, which leads me to believe that the cast of this series is going to become more diverse and fun as it goes along. I'm a sucker for all things mythology, as you've probably picked up on by now, and the imagination and magic the author puts into her work makes it all so much more enjoyable.
I'm officially hooked on this series now and will be following it to the bitter end. It's a very comfortable read which at first glance may come across as a YA novel as it's so easy to get into, however read at your own peril if you blush easily.... there's quite a lot of sexy times going on in Junacave these days!
All of the Everealm books transport me back to a time in which I have never been.... but would love to go. The Author, J. D. Wright, makes you feel as if you are truly from that Era.
Wildfire is book 2 in the Everealm Series. It picks up where book 1 leaves off. I love all the action! In Wildfire, we have a new set of Villains to destroy and conquer. They may have taken care of the Villains in book 1, but like any good book, and this is a good book, there are always more to come.
The Villains are plentiful in Everealm, but know, it's people will defeat them and restore peace once again. It is their duty.
I couldn't put it down. It is well written and is so exciting to read. J. D. Wright gives us action, adventure, magic, love, and romance. She makes you believe in her characters.
If you do anything, you have to read this series, but also check out the wonderful website dedicated to Everealm.
Received as an ARC from NetGalley This book was much better than the first one. The writing style has clearly matured and the plot made much more sense. I do still feel that there are too many couples for one book and it gets a little confusing and distracting at times. I'm not sure how I feel about the treatment of Dahlia, mainly because Bree seems way too accepting and forgiving considering how horrible Dahlia was in the first book. Dahlia's complete 180 in attitude is also a little sudden and feels out of character for her. I'm really enjoying Sid and Dagan's storyline and how much development they both got this book. I would love if the books focused in on one couple even more than this book focused on Sid and Dagan. It would allow for more growth in the main characters and would make it clear who the main characters are. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
*SCREAMS* this was amazing! This book continues where it left off from the previous book, perhaps a year later, or so. Bree and Rowan's relationship is still sending sparks. Dagan and Sidonie are going strong? Finn is Finn, but let's say things have gotten spicy between him and Adelphie. Adult fantasy lovers, this will keep you on your toes, and let's not forget the awesome romance! Questions from the first books had their answers revealed, at appropriate times. You learn new things that you did not expect, which was a twist. Don't believe me? Get yourself a copy! I will not be able to stress it enough. The book ends in a cliffhanger! - Full Review - http://haddieshaven.blogspot.com/2015...
Well, I don't know how to start but that I freaking loved/enjoyed this series. It was so much more than the first book. There were some things that we learned along the way and some twist which I had to admit kind of shocked me. The characters were more interesting and better. I loved those intimated moments of those couples and ahem some who seems to be in development. Although I should have expected that the journey wouldn't be all sweet. Aside from getting assistance from the fairies because of the new arising problem, it's also about themselves.
The cliffhanger obviously is a cliffhanger but I will definitely continue this series.
This book, is book 2 of the Everrealm Series. It is not a stand alone book, so I would recommend reading the books in order. This book picks up exactly where book 1 left off. I really liked book 1 however book two took a little bit more time to get into. I did not like this book as much because I felt that it dragged along more slowly than the first. However, I do not believe that it is a bad book. I have not read book 3 yet, and so I can't tell you how the story continues but from what I have read in other reviews, this is a series I would want to continue with until the end. I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.
I just knew it! I won't tell you what but you'll find out if you read this book. The second book was better than the first and more secrets are revealed. More battles are faced. The love story grows. Great Read. I wonder what book three will have in store for us.
This was a good second book. New and interesting things happened. Definitely not a filler book. I have enjoyed this series and can't wait to read book 3.
The second in the series, following on from 'Everealm', this continues the story of Bree and Rowan, along with the other, now familiar, characters and their various battles within themselves and the trials and tribulations of their various love lives. In addition to this, they have to work together, and bring in some new characters, to ensure the future of their various countries within Everealm, fighting the good fight against the evil that is Silas' widow, Vallica and her new mage, making use of the destructive power of wildfire. The story overall is fine and there are some nice moments, though it gets a little much at times, as there are too many stories all working together and sometimes it feels like none of them are completed properly. The end of the novel is particularly disappointing as it just peters out and it doesn't feel like this is the right time to bring it to an end. That said, it is set up nicely for the next edition in the series. The new characters are fairly engaging and the development of various love stories is endearing, forcing the reader to keep going to discover where these roads will lead to, though some of the more obvious threads of the story are dragged out a little and just need to get to the point. Worth reading to discover more about the fantasy place that is Everealm and its varied inhabitants...
I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Everealm series and its just as delightful, more magical creatures are added leading to another epic fantasy quest.
Now that Silas and Vacilla have been defeated Bree faces another threat to her kingdom. Wildfire is being used to destroy the kingdom and its people. Only the fairies can help. Bree has to convince the fairies to join them to defeat this new enemy of Junacave.
Again love is interwoven throughout this story, secrets are revealed and enemies defeated.
Another great fantasy epic and can't wait to read the next instalment.
Wizards, magic, mayhem and a young queen learning the ropes. What more could you need for a romp of a good time with a little romance thrown in!! Bree is a wonderful character written with strong desires and needs but still has a touch of vulnerability. A nice light read of romance and people growing together to make a united and stronger team together. Be sure you've read the first book in the series or the twist at the end won't make sense!!! This was read as an ARC through netgalley.com for an honest review.
