Sister Lucia was a prominent figure of the Portuguese Catholic world of the twentieth century. As the Shepherdess of Fatima who, together with Francisco and Jacinta saw Our Lady in 1917, she is regarded as a child blessed and chosen to spread the message of peace and salvation of God throughout the world.
As a Carmelite nun, she was known as a privileged person dedicated to God and in service to His Church, one in whom people placed enormous confidence because of her role as Our Lady's confidant.
The contemporary history of the Church would hardly be complete without the inclusion of Sister Lucia's role. The references to the Holy Father and to his sufferings since the apparitions, as well as the revelation of the third part of the Secret of Fatima and the dramatic events experienced by the Church in the late second and early third millennium do not allow us to ignore Sister Lucia.
Reading the biography, A Pathway Under the Gaze of Mary, gives us a broader perspective of Sister Lucia's life, spirituality and personality, especially after the apparitions at Fatima ended. Written by the Sisters of Carmel of Coimbra, it reflects their personal knowledge of her daily life and writings, and provides testimonies that mirror the depth of her soul.--Most Rev. Virgilio Antunes, Bishop of Coimbra
I have always loved our Lady the Fatima and have read every book I could get my hands on. In my pride I thought I knew everything there was to know about Fatima, until I read this book. This book gives to the readers a better understanding of the little sheperdess of Fatima Sr. Lucia who gave her life as a loving sacrifice to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for souls. "Make of everything you can a sacrifice and offer it God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended" Sr Lucia in my opinion stands with all the the great Carmalite saints that have graced the Church. A unknown mystic for our times who gave her life for our Blessed Mother I this earth The Catholic Church. Read this book and enter into the heart of the Message of Fatima . Sr. Lucia Sheperdess of Fatma Pray for Us
I bought this book at the Blue Army Shrine, because I wanted a better understanding of what the apparitions at Fatima were all about. This book is very well done, very readable, with lots of great photos. Sister Lucia, the oldest of the three children at Fatima, lived from 1907 to 2005! Her two younger cousins died at a very young age, as foretold to them during the Apparitions. Lucia's life was both beautiful and painful for her. When she knew she was going to enter a convent, she longed to be cloistered in the Carmel. But that was not to be for her for quite a while. And yet, she lived a holy life in obedience to Our Lady, always trying to proclaim the message from Fatima. When she was allowed to return to Fatima after many long years, she was so moved by all of the pilgrims. Meeting Pope John Paul II was such a spiritual gift for both of them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand the miracle at Fatima.
This biography of Sister Lucia is well written and inspiring. Anyone would benefit from reading about her life devoted to doing penance for souls in love for God and Mary.
to finally have a book on Sr. Lucia and read what she thought, how she felt and how she lived the remainder of her life was absolutely wonderful for me. To read in her own words what happened at Fatima and the struggles she endured and the loss of her cousins and how everything affected her was mind opening.
A thorough biography written by the Sisers of Carmel of Coimbra and based on Sister Lucia's memoirs and her book Calls from the Message of Fatima, this gives insight into her personality and the details of Sister Lucia's life. It is a blessing to read the details of Our Lady of Fatima's message and also to see how someone born in such simple circumstances lived out the Lady's instructions. This quotes Sister Lucia often and is filled with B&W photos take throughout her life.
