Sometimes you have to make the best with what life gives you, even if it’s something you don’t want.

Troy has been handed an ugly hand by life. He was kidnapped, his DNA was tinkered with, and he doesn’t know what or who he is anymore. Even if the pride has accepted him without questions, he hides in his room, scared of what he could see in the other peoples’ eyes.

Emery is used to a lonely life. He lost his family years before to the Krsnik wars, and he’s happy to have found new friends within the pride. He’s even happier to find out his mate lives in the mansion, even if Troy makes approaching him difficult.

Troy pushes Emery into mating, scared that Emery will flee once he finds out just how wrong Troy has become. He doesn’t, though, not even when something incredible, something no one could have forecasted, happens. Will they be able to face their unsure future together, or will one of them crumble under the pressure?

Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters.
She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back.
She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.

”You’re pregnant.”

Ha!
description

I knew this series would have mpreg eventually!! This was a one-time thing though, no other pregnant men in the rest of the books.
description

Troy has been experimented on by humans, so he is now half harpy. Troy still has trouble accepting his other half, so he isolates himself. He feels like an abomination, with his (female) harpy DNA.

But then Emery finds out Troy is his mate, so he tries to help him. Troy is very happy to find out he has a mate, so he won’t feel so alone anymore. Troy insists they mate immediately, so Emery won’t leave him.

Of course he didn’t expect to get so sick a few weeks after their mating. But there it is, a baby bump!

This was a bit weird, because Troy is not just pregnant, he is pregnant with an egg. Yes, he has to lay an egg.

But everything works out fine of course and everyone is happy happy happy.

This was book 12 in the Whitedell Pride series. I have been wanting to read Troy's story since he first came to the mansion and they told him what was done to him and for most of this book I wanted to slap him. Troy was kidnapped and his DNA was mixed with a "harpy" the pride found him in a lab that they raided and Jared along with Adrian have been treating him helping him come to terms with what has happened to him, because he is angry for what was done to him and thinks no one with want him or love him. Emery is one of the new warriors who moved into the mansion he is a mixed breed vampire and shifter a snow leopard. While fighting the wendigos in the last book he realizes that Troy is his mate and he will do anything to get Troy to talk to him. Troy is attracted to Emery but doesn't think that anyone will want him when Emery knocks on his door and tells him that he has a roommate Troy is scared and doesn't know what to do and when Emery tells him that he is his mate he forces Emery to mate with him. These two mate fast and I really liked Emery he was kind and patient with Troy who was moody. When Troy gets sick he doesn't want anyone to help him and he blows up and Emery he thinks its a stomach bug turns out he is pregnant and he doesn't handle it well I felt bad for both of these character's I really liked Emery and at times I wanted to slap and shake Troy he didn't want the baby so he tried to cut the egg out of him. Leave it to Keenan to make him feel better when he told the guys he was so happy and even through him a baby shower only to have Troy's best friend of twenty years show up Kay who is a cop. This was a good read this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book Nysys I am sure its going to be funny.

Troy started his life as a human. He was kidnapped and used for experiments that left him a monster. He hides in his room, afraid to see what people think. Emery is used to being alone, having lost most of his family to the Krsnik wars. He is happy to know he has a mate nearby even if Troy is hard to approach. When Troy pushes for the mating, Emery obliges. He knows Troy thinks he will run but Emery will not. Then something unexpected happens that will test their newly established mating.

Troy is experiencing so many emotions. He has been changed and no longer knows what he is. He is sure that everyone is disgusted with his new state. He feels so unlovable he challenges Emery to claim him. Emery has no problem claiming him and he has incredible patience with Troy and his moods. Troy by Catherine Lievens is a true testament to the power of love. When you read this one you will be sure to feel touched at their circumstance and delighted with the ending. Another great job by Catherine Lievens.

4.5 STARS

Twelve books in the Whitedell Pride series and three books in the closely connected Gillham pack series, but you know what…I’m not even hesitating to call Troy my favourite book by Catherine Lievens so far.

Oh my gosh, where do I even start? As you can read in the blurb our main character, Troy, was once human, but was kidnapped by the Glass Research company and experimented on in their secret labs. His DNA was spliced with that of a mythological avian shifter and now he finds himself living with a bitch of a harpy inside him. He was rescued by the shifters of the Whitedell Pride, which is where he meets his mate, Emery. Emery is a Krsnik, fifty percent vampire, fifty percent white leopard shifter but one hundred percent badass in one pretty little package. The two men don’t hesitate to claim each other as mates, but neither was prepared to discover the extent of the changes to Troy’s body.

Firstly, there’s no way that I can write this review without talking about the pregnancy. Sorry if that seems spoilerish, but any fan of the series has known that this was coming. It wasn’t really a surprise. Mpreg is something that’s usually a great big let down for me. I love the idea of it, and a good blurb can sell it to me, but inevitably I’m left a little disappointed with the execution. So as much as I was looking forward to this book, I was kind of worried about it too. I love this series and Catherine Lievens is one of the nicest authors I’ve come across. Was I going to have to tell her that her book was just…meh? Holy shit, no! I think that this is the best mpreg story that I’ve read. One thing that makes it stand out for me is that there is actually an explanation as to how a male can get pregnant. Now I’m not an mpreg snob, if an author wants to say that some males of a certain species can simply get pregnant, then fair enough. But I loved that this author explained how the scientists had made it possible for a former human to be impregnated, what the female genes had done to his body, and how the labor played out.

My favourite part of the story, however, was Troy. Actually, I didn’t like Troy for much of this story. He switched from needy, whiny, somewhat manipulative prick to raging bitch at the drop of a hat, and poor Emery copped most of it. Emery was almost too perfect but honestly, nothing but perfection could have countered the emotional ups and downs of a mate like Troy. But as much as Troy needed a good smack down, his behavior was all pretty understandable. This man had been kidnapped, practically tortured, experimented on, turned into a monster (in his opinion) and now suddenly his female side has allowed him to be knocked up with an egg. He doesn’t even know what the hell is growing inside him. As horrible as it sounds, I loved that Troy wanted his “baby” to die. It was maybe one of my favourite parts of this series, which is notable, because so far everything else I’ve loved has had more of a happy/positive tilt.

This addition to the series has only strengthened my Whitedell Pride addiction and I’m so excited to see that the next book out is Nysys, my very favourite character.

Mpreg fans, you might manage to read this book as a standalone, but you definitely won’t enjoy it as much without having read the rest of the series.

Summary:

Troy was an average guy until the day he was kidnapped and had harpy DNA added to his changing his life forever. Troy refused to let anyone see him if fear that they could never accept him and that just made things worse. Emery was making a new life in the Whitedell Pride after being alone for a long time. Emery knew that Troy was his mate, but he nor anyone else could get near Troy until Dominic, the pride Alpha, took matters into his own hands giving Emery the job to spend time with Troy. Troy's angry distant demeanor was no match for Emery's caring, accepting personality; it helped that they were mates! The two brought feelings out of each other that they never expected, but Troy needs to accept himself before he is ready to love anyone else. On top of all these conflicts, Troy and Emery are about to encounter a situation that may alter their lives forever. This incredible story is filled with conflict, friendship, and all the love that anyone could ever want and will remain one of my favorites in the Whitedell Pack series!

This is part of a series and really enhanses the story if you have read the books leading up to this one as there are other characters mentioned that would already know. Troy is still trying to come to terms with what happened to him before he was rescued. He is growing more and more reclusive and withdrawn. His harpy though seems to be settled. Adrian who is one of his Dr seems concerned enough to make him go through more testing to make sure he is OK. Little does he know that Troy has a crush on Emery one of the enforcers.

Emery has never met Troy but already knows that he is his mate. Every time he tries to get close to him he disappears. But Emery is patient and knows that with time he will win over his shy mate. He has no idea what is going on with him, but after all fate would not steer him wrong.

In comes an Alpha decree, Emery is to move into Troy's room and bring him out of his shell. Needless to say fireworks go off, then a claiming. Some wonderful Harpy DNA issues. Stress and fights, party's incoming cops, and through it all Emery stands tough right beside Troy.

All and all a wonderful read, has sex, fights, eggs, and wings!

4.5 but rounded up because I loved this one! I think this is my most favorite book in the series since Oliver. I just loved Troy and am so glad we finally got his story! And eeeeee it has my favorite m/m shifter element - you know what it is! I really enjoyed this, and I loved the camaraderie with some of the previous couples in his too. Can't wait for more!

I guessed the surprise before I read it but the situation was still cool but I can't help to be disappointed the book lacked excitement of the first bunch of books when they were rescuing the shifters and people were being kidnapped now I feels like there rushing to mate the rest of the people the book was ok but it feels like something is missing
