Galileo and the Maze Maker's Treasure

Rate this book
Galileo Ambrosius appears to be an ordinary teenage boy, but is actually far from it. He is a wizard with magical powers and resides in a world where most people do not know that magic exists. When an evil silver-haired witch disguised as his bad-tempered high school science teacher curses two non-magical students, Galileo must reveal his magical abilities to save them.
The students survive, but the curse has left its mark: they can both produce magic. Now it's up to Galileo and his allies to find out who the witch is and why she targeted the young wizard's school. When they intercept a damaged magical map that points the way to a wizard's greatest treasure, Galileo and his friends must race to find this treasure before the witch and her accomplices seize it for their own dark purposes. Fantasy and adventure combine in Galileo and the Maze Maker's Treasure, creating an unforgettable story of courage and friendship.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story about Galileo who comes from a family of wizards. He is very efficient with his spell usage and very clever for his age. One day, a substitute teacher at his school turns out to be an evil witch and curses two students. Galileo takes it upon himself to help them.

This story is very vibrant and full of detail which I really appreciate. I love fantasy books that really grasp my attention. The only reason I took off a star was because I had a hard time building an emotional connection with any of the characters. Other than that, I did enjoy the ending after the epic journey. Thank you for letting me review this Biagio :D

This was the first book I have read by Biagio and I was pleasantly surprised. The attention he gives to the small details that make up a typical day are amazing. Those details were easy to visualize and get lost in.
The main character is a sophomore in high school which for me made it hard to connect to him or the rest of the characters. I felt it to be a little too repetitive in some parts and a bit cliche in others. I also felt it lacking in the action department which is too slow for me and lost my attention a bit. I didn't quite catch a character development in the mix but I don't know if the story is to blame for that or me. Other things were a little anticlimactic but all in all, I enjoyed the fantasy aspect of the story. If you love wizards and witches then this is the perfect read for you!

A great read - this book is engaging and unique. The writing is detailed, which makes it easy to visualize the characters and the magical world they inhabit. The story is exciting and very creative. Fans of fantasy literature and children of all ages will enjoy getting lost in the magic, potions, and action!
