This book is different from most of her other books. Angie left her hometown many years before feeling that she was driven away by the mother of her boyfriend, Simon. Simon never knew why she left and has lived a life of bitterness and hurt over her disappearance. After many years, they reconnect but it takes time and forgiveness for them overcome the past hurts. Other people in their lives complicate and hinder this happening.

Not good

I have read and liked a majority of her books, but this one was painful to read. Too many "my loves" and corny over the top romantic cliches.

Having a hard time knowing what to say about this review. Angie and Simon had a relationship that was non existent for years. Angie’s boyfriend Glenn advised her to go back to her hometown to resolve all her issues. The new alliance with Simon is so tempestuous it drove me crazy. Angie’s father is terribly against having Simon as a son in law. Was the plot realistic? Yeah, there are lots of people like Angie but so annoying!

The only reason I finished this book was because I needed it for a challenge.

I just wanted to smack the “love lost” couple Angie and Simon - they deserved each other because of the way they treated Glenn (Angie’s fiancé). They are the first MC couple that I really hope don’t get their happy ever after, they were both selfish and manipulative. Poor Glenn - actually no, lucky Glenn he’s escaped a disastrous relationship. This has to be the worse Debbie Macomber book I’ve ever read.

In all honesty, this was not one of my favorite Debbie ma comber books. Could have been the time in which the book was written, 80's, but i found the main character Simon to be overbearing, demanding, and just down right selfish. Angie never seemed to have the confidence to tell Simon that he was in serious need of an attitude adjustment. With all this being said, there was minimal character development. Plot was interesting as was the family dynamic and two lovers defeating the odds. However, it seemed as though the plot was stretched too thin,

Not my favorite kind of story. I just did not like the two main characters. At times I wanted to stop reading, but yet I needed to know how it ended. The ending was not satisfying either. I also felt Glenn got a raw deal. I guess I really would not recommend this for anyone. Since I have read other books by this author I will continue with others she has written.

Debbie Macomber always writes great books. This dealt with love and betrayal. And always a happy ending.

Not bad. I found Angie, to be a very frustrating character. And her dad was so rude and nasty, especially since their relationship was described throughout as pretty solid even after all he did. I am glad he came around by the end and Simon’s mother too, though I saw that coming.

Reflections of Yesterday

This was probably the worst of Debbie Macomber's books. The manipulative protagonist was selfish as she moved her love between two men. She put every situation even her father's deathbed illness to her own use and pitted the offerings of her two lovers like trash. She finally comes to her senses after the mother of one of the men visits her and begs her to return to her son. She does so and one can only hope she sticks with her choice for a happy ending. I usually am a Debbie Macomber fan but I must say this book is an exception.

I am so happy that I won a copy of this book through a giveaway on Good Reads. I loved every minute of the book. It grabbed me from the very beginning and I hated to see it end. It is filled with emotions and ups and downs. It is a heartwarming story of second chances and getting over the past. Thanks for my copy. I really enjoyed this book.

Not what I expected. A good read for those who thrive on betrayal, angst , and drama. This story line has a love triangle and a controlling mother. Macomber's trademark for romance is working through the problems to get to the heart of the matter---which she does in this book. It is not the warm hearted romance that she is known for, but it is a good read.

I love all of the books I've read by Debbie Macomber. The was no exception. You get to know the characters well and the story is always interesting. Hallmark was made for Debbie Macomber books, and I love watching Halmark movies. Enough said. Highly recommended.

Nice story about two people who were destined to be together. This was one of Debbie’s early books and her writing and character development have improved greatly since this book. If I hadn’t read so many of her other books, I probably would give this 5 stars!

It was an ok read.

It was not up to other novel standard. It was very slow in many places. It was. Predictable from the start.

I read this as a part of the "Together Again" bind up. This book took one of my favorite tropes (first love, second chance) and somehow destroyed it. Angie and Simon were each other's first loves but they were from different sides of the tracks. She was from the poor side of town, him the wealthy, and his family did not approve of their relationship. They got "married" at 17 which I guess was just them saying they wanted to get married (?!) then something happened that separated them. His mom paid her to leave town and of course there was miscommunication about what actually happened. She was threatened into leaving him alone and he assumed she asked for the money and ran. The plot holes in this book are huge. Anyway, now they're almost 30 and she's got a successful flower business so she goes back to town to pay back the $10k and of course runs into Simon. He is so nasty to her I would've shut down the relationship right there, but we also are told (not shown) so much of their "love" as high schoolers that I didn't have much invested anyway. I say "love" not because I believe that teenagers don't know what love is, but because if they were so in love, how did such a miscommunication happen in the first place?
This is a classic that is better left in the past.

This was an awful read. And that is a sad statement considering that most of her books are really good.

This one I had to force myself to finish. I hated Angie and Simon. These are two individuals who have no idea on the difference between love and lust and the only good character, Glenn, was wasted. The two main characters had absolutely no chemistry.

I really wish I did like this book.

I do not recommend this book for anyone.

Very disappointed in this one because I usually truly enjoy the cozy, friendly feel of a Debbie Macomber book. They are normally a nice, easy read; something I can count on to entertain me when I find myself “between books”.
Boy, was this one an exception! I found the characters and their dialogue to be so unbelievably annoying that I found myself counting down the pages until I could send them on their merry way. That said, I will NOT give up on Debbie Macomber! I’m sure there are many, many people who enjoyed this book. I am just not among them.

You can't go wrong with Debbie Macomber. Reflections of Yesterday tells a beautiful story about family and love. In this story you meet a young woman named Angie that has spent the last 12 years trying to forget her 1st love, Simon. While trying to move on she decides to go back and resolve old wounds so she can move on. The Simon she finds is nothing she expected. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters as they fought against their hearts true desire. Highly recommend

2.5*'s. I have enjoyed several of Macomber' s books in the past. I kept pushing through this book hoping that it would get better.
She has a bitter father. He has a bitter mother. There was no story other than a love triangle and her dad being sick. I love sappy. But this book was Too sappy for me. Definitely, not one of Macomber's better books.

Angie was just a whiny, indecisive woman who let her useless father manipulate the heck out of her. All the men in her life lashed out with cruel, heartless words whenever they were angry or hurt and Angie just took it from all of them. She would have been better off getting them all out of her life and starting over without them.

Lost Love

This book examines our emotions we experience in living out lives. Starting with grief at loss of a parent. It looked at first love. It looked at patient love. It looked at never giving up on love. And lastly at love that triumphed over time. I enjoyed it very much.

I have always liked Debbie Macomber's books. They are clean, fun, romantic fictions. This one was the same. I would recommend any of her books and especially her series to anyone. I have just found a bunch of her older books which this includes. I do think with them you can tell she isn't quite as polished as her newer books but still fun to read.

Ugh. Contrived and dated this book is unbelievable and unenjoyable. A girl from the wrong side of the tracks is in love with the rich boy. They are broken up over a misrepresentation orchestrated by his evil greedy selfish parents. Tired, silly and ridiculous. I usually enjoy this author but this book is an epic fail.

It is what you expect of a classic romance novel. A woman, caught between two men of equal character, almost indistinguishable really. And she chooses the one with the bigger anger issue because of a love that apparently transcends his super short temper and tendency to think she owes him something.

That said though, I like a little drama and this was a nice, quick way to get some.

Story about two people who get a second chance at love. He was a member of the country club. She lived on the wrong side of town. His parents paid her to leave town. Now she's back to give to return the money... with interest.
Not my favorite Debbie Macomber book. To be fair drawn more toward her cowboys and small town stories.

I felt like a lot of this book was her dad and his mom fighting over not wanting the two of them to be together. It felt like that was the entire storyline and we just spent 300 pages talking about it over and over.
I love a good love story and I love Debbie’s stories, but I like when there’s more to it.

Cute story about a women who left a town and her true love because his parents bought her off. The story shows how after many years, true love will find a way to reunite this couple despite many bumps in the road.
