اوه، آدری عزیزم...
کاملا مشخص بود که زیبایی و برازندگی ات، همه سرچشمه در روح بلندت دارند... و حالا از این موضوع تقریباً مطمئنم.

اینکه من عاشق آدری ام قطعا در ۵ ستاره دادن به این کتاب بی تاثیر نیست. نکات جالبی رو درباره زندگی و طرز تفکرش به شکل جمع بندی شده بیان کرده.
البته از سری کتاب هایی بود که فیزیک کتاب رو از محتواش بیشتر دوست داشتم. و عکسا که بعد از بارها دیدن همچنان تازه و بی نظیر بودند..

دوستانِ گرانقدر، در هنرمند بودن، دلربایی، مردم پسند بودن و گیراییِ بسیار زیادِ زنده یاد «آدری هپبورن» بازیگرِ مشهور و دوست داشتنیِ دنیایِ سینما، شکی نیست... ولی این دلیل نمیشود که این کتاب، آنهم با این قیمتِ بالا در ایران، از همان جذابیت برخوردار باشد... این کتاب نکتۀ خاص و مهمی جهتِ ارائه به خواننده ندارد... جملاتی در موردِ مسائلِ گوناگون از «آدری» و البته نظراتِ دوستان و همکارانش در موردِ زندگیِ شخصی و هنریِ وی، که در کنارِ عکسهایی از «آدری»، در این کتاب جمع آوری شده است

Audrey Hepburn was so radiant and inspirational, she was beautiful inside and out, the epitome of elegance and kindness.
This wonderful book contains many quotes by Audrey on the things she considered important, further quotes about Audrey, and of course photos. It’s not a very detailed biography, but a very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

آدری اگر بازیگر موردعلاقهی من نباشه، حداقل جزوی از پنج نفر اوله چون عاشق این حجم از مهربونی و خوب بازی کردنشم اما به دلایلی کتاب باب میلم نبود. از جمله اینکه خیلی پراکنده نوشته شده و میتونست بهتر از این حرفا باشه. در نهایت سه ستاره برای خود آدری عزیز بهش میدم:)

عاشق آدری بودن کار آسانی ست..مگر می شود دلربایی ذاتی این مخلوق خدا را نادیده گرفت؟! صورت شیطونی که توامان معصومیت کودکانه ای را به همراه دارد و چشم های فریبنده ای که برایم معیار گیرایی ست...آدری برای من همیشه همان (پرنسس آن) است که با شور و شوق خودشکنی یک روزه را بر می گزیند..پرنسسی که در زمان خودش هم شیفتگان سینما را مجذوب خود کرد و مرا قریب به شصت سال بعد متحیر ساخت! می توانم درباره ی جذابیت این الهه متن ها بنویسم اما این نوشته مربوط به کتابی ست در ستایش روح بزرگ او...طبیعتا هر آنچه که مربوط به او باشد برایم شیرین است و این کتاب هم مستثنی نخواهد بود .متن کوتاه و صریح کتاب سرشار از جملات ناب است فقط ای کاش عکس های این موجود نازنین اجازه ی ورق زدن بدهند...

خب....اگه طرفدار آدری هستین این کتاب خیلی پیشنهاد میشه
خیلی قشنگ بود و لذت بردم از خوندنش

واقعا اعتماد به نفسش کم بوده ولی، مثلا یه جا گفته صورتش مربعیه یا خوشش از اندامش نیومده😂
خیلی خوشم اومد خیلی روون بود
فقط قبل خوندن این کتاب بهتره یا طرفدار آدری هپبورن باشین مثل من ،یا چند تااز فیلماشو ببینین تا بیشتر لذت ببرین😍
تو کتاب درباره آهنگ moon riverم حرف زده بودن و نقل قول از یه نفر آورده بودن که این آهنگ ورژنای زیادی داره ولی مال آدری یه چیز دیگس...که واقعا راست گفته👌🏻

فکر میکردم این کتاب میتونه جزو کتابای مورد علاقم باشه،محتوای خوب و کاربردی ای داشت
ولی ترجمه خیلی مشکل دار بود

It's hard to actively dislike any book about Audrey Hepburn, and How to Be Lovely is no exception.
Not only does it boast glossy paper and beautiful black and white photographs, but it's easy and fun to read, the bulk of each chapter consisting mostly of quotes from Audrey herself, and from the people who knew her well. It was great for learning a bunch of little tidbits about this beloved actress.
I would have liked a bit more substance, a bit more of the author's own interpretation and suggestions on how to be more "Audrey" (as the title suggests) other than "be kind" and "help others", which aren't unique to Audrey Hepburn - though she was acknowledged by pretty much everyone as very kind and selfless.
A few of the chapters were also a little repetitive in their description of her life and personality. It was understood early on that she preferred home life and family to stardom and city living, but it was repeated often without really adding anything new. I think more time could have been spent on tips on how to imitate Audrey in our own lives, but then again I thought the book would be more of a "how-to" than a sort of biography told through interview bits and a some analysis.
Nevertheless, I spent a lovely afternoon reading this book, imagining myself living in the mid-20th century, going to a fancy dinner-party in a Givenchy dress, elegantly smoking cigarette after cigarette. (I don't smoke, but in my mid-20th century dreams I do :P)
I always end up having a pleasant time when I read a book about Audrey Hepburn, or watch one of her movies. Must be her timeless grace and charm, her certain je-ne-sais-quoi that still makes her such a fabulous icon today!
<3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because pictures. ;) And it really is a nice little summary of her life and accomplishments with enough inspiration to render it perfect for those times when you need a quick lil' AH fix.

این هم از آن دسته کتاب هایی ست که نمیتوانم منصفانه برایش ریویو بنویسم و امتیاز دهم؛ چون من عاشق آدری هپبورن هستم!
این کتاب فرصت خیلی خوبی بود که بیشتر در مورد زندگی بازیگر مورد علاقه ام بدانم و نقل قول هایش را بخوانم.
شاید بهتر باشد برای لذت بردن از کتاب، شناخت کلی ای از آدری داشته باشید.
از لحاظ روانشناسی من و آدری تیپ شخصیتی یکسانی داریم و خواندن درباره ی رفتار های آدری باعث شد بیشتر از قبل به این مبحث «تیپ شخصیتی »ایمان بیاورم!
تنها ایرادی کتاب، به نظرم این بود که تمامش تعریف از آدری بود و هیچ کدام از خصوصیات منفی اش را بازگو نکرده بود.

مطلبی که برای من خیلی عجیب بود این بود که چه طور کتابی که به چاپ ۲۵ ام رسیده انقد بی دقت با ویراستاری اش برخورد شده، مخصوصا مد نظرم بحث نقل قول هاست که واقعا سردرگم میشدم که آیا این ها صحبت های خود بازیگر است یا نکاتیه که نویسنده اضافه کرده و این به دلیل مشخص نبودن محدوده نقل قول ها بود، ولی خب میگن که عیب وی جمله بگفتی هنرش نیز بگوی،کتاب خیلی دوست داشتنی و زیبایی بود کیفیت چاپ عکس ها خوب بود و اطلاعات جالبی هم در مورد خانم آدری هپبورن در اختیار علاقه مندان اش قرار میداد.

و ديدنش تو فيلمها واقعا حالم رو خوب ميكنه..

اما بنظرم ميتونست و جا داشت كه خيلي خيلي بهتر از اينها باشه..
با اين حال از خوندنش حس خوبي دارم.
عاشق وقتي هستم كه يكي از مردم برايم نامه مي نويسيد و ميگويد: اوضاع سختي داشتم همين كه به سينما رفتم و يكي از فيلم هايتان را ديدم، تغييري به وجود آمد..

When the pressure of a book deadline pushes my nerves to the breaking point I do what many writers do: I shop at AbeBooks.com and Amazon for used how-to books on crafts I'm never going to learn, fantasizing about all the time I'm going to have post-deadline to work the other side of my brain and attempting through it all to make constructive plans for the sense of disorientation that tends to follow the completion of a long, intense writing project.
While gazing at postal art books this time around (As if! I can't even draw!) I somehow managed to stumble into the Audrey Hepburn section on Amazon. I'm really not sure how this happened -- perhaps my eyes wandered from the computer screen to my Audrey Hepburn wall calendar. But yes, Audrey has her own Amazon section which came as a pleasant but not-so-surprising surprise.
A long-time fan of her films, I was glad to find within my price range a few well-reviewed books devoted to Hepburn-inspired frivolity. The first to come in the mail would have been superficial if it didn't have a photo of Audrey on every page and if the text wasn't so clever. So Audrey: 59 Ways to Put a Little Audrey in Your Step places tongue-in-cheek fashion advice opposite somewhat relevant photos of Audrey. For instance, next to a photo of Audrey decked out in her Roman Holiday regalia is text that reads "Let a standout necklace do the talking." Opposite a photo of her "Moon River" scene in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" are the words: "Whether torn for effect, stone-washed, or dyed indigo, nothing beats a great pair of blue jeans."
The book that came next, How to be Lovely: The Audrey Hepburn Way of Life, although similar in size (they're both fairly small) and style (the clever page headings pose as advice and the book includes many photographs), it packs more depth and biographic material, using copious direct quotes from Audrey and those close to her, all of it organized around the particular themes of the 10 chapters: Happiness, Success, Health, Love, Famiy, Friendship, Fulfillment, Style, Fame, Humanity.
More than anything else How to be Lovely proves that Audrey was indeed lovely and wise and that the beautiful person on the screen was an extension of her own personality (she never went to acting school, one of the many things I learned from reading this pithy little book).

This was my kind of biography, a wee gem of a book. It gave enough of a picture of Audrey’s life and her views without getting bogged down in the minutiae so typical of celebrity bios.
I bought it partly because of the title, and partly because of the photography, which is fabulous. It really evokes, as she says herself, a time when movies were pleasant, when women wore pretty dresses in films and you heard beautiful music. Also, I guess I was curious to learn a little more about her. Hardly a household name today, yet whatever she herself believed to the contrary, one of last century’s most beautiful women.
Despite the book’s format and brevity, I learned quite a lot. It skips through the stages of her life with one page summaries, followed by quotes both her own and by contemporaries. Following teen years spent in occupied Holland, she fell into acting, succeeding at it through hard work learned from years of ballet discipline. We follow along through the subsequent years of fame, success, motherhood and finally her time as a UNICEF ambassador, accompanied at each stage by snippets revealing Audrey’s approach to life.

For me, I’ll compare one of her early quotes: I think that’s what life’s all about, actually - about children and flowers. with this anecdote, in later years, as a child in Bangladesh is sitting apart: The little one caught Audrey’s attention. “Why doesn’t she join the others?” Walking over, Audrey knelt down and spoke with her. Then, picking her up, she hugged her close. The child’s legs, crippled by polio, dangled uselessly. Carrying the little one, Audrey walked towards us, her eyes filled with tears. None of the rest of us had taken notice of the child. Elsewhere she says: I think we can help all these beautiful, silent children.
So yes, I think the title got it absolutely right.
I bought it partly because of the title, and partly because of the photography, which is fabulous. It really evokes, as she says herself, a time when movies were pleasant, when women wore pretty dresses in films and you heard beautiful music. Also, I guess I was curious to learn a little more about her. Hardly a household name today, yet whatever she herself believed to the contrary, one of last century’s most beautiful women.
Despite the book’s format and brevity, I learned quite a lot. It skips through the stages of her life with one page summaries, followed by quotes both her own and by contemporaries. Following teen years spent in occupied Holland, she fell into acting, succeeding at it through hard work learned from years of ballet discipline. We follow along through the subsequent years of fame, success, motherhood and finally her time as a UNICEF ambassador, accompanied at each stage by snippets revealing Audrey’s approach to life.

Such a lovely book and lovely woman. I adored all the quotes, and the pictures were my favorites. Audrey Hepburn made a huge impact in the world, yet I couldn't help think the whole time, "If only she'd been a believer." Much of her thinking on success and happiness is simply delightful and inspiring, but lacks the true push behind them: God's strength.
I also would have liked to know a bit more details of her life, but I know this book was more focused on her way of life, rather than her actual daily life.
But really, even though I don't completely condone Audrey's thinking, she is an actress that lived simply and wasn't out for fame and fortune like so many others. She cared for people, and that was evident by so much of her sacrifice.

I AM & Always will be a Fan of Audrey Hepburn!I own just about EVERY movie she was in & just about every BOOK written about her.I keep a photo of her on my writing Desk..so this book is an addition to my Collection of all Things Audrey.This book entails her thoughts on subjects that are dear to my heart_Happiness,Success,Love,Style..etc.May the light she shared with the world shine on in the lives of those of us she continues to inspire!Love Her!!!!!

اینکه عاشق آدری باشه هیچ سخت نیست، من این کتاب رو صرفا به خاطر گل روی آدری نازنین خریدم و تنها دلیل اینکه ۴ ستاره بهش دادم، علاقه بی حد و اندازه ام به آدری هست.
ترجمه فاجعه بود به معنی واقعی کلمه که البته از نشر میلکان انتظار دیگه ای نمیرفت
خوبی ماجرا اینجا بود که هر چند صفحه یک عکس از آدری بود که اون حجم از خطاهای ترجمه رو از ذهنت پاک کنه.
واقعا از ته دلم امیدوارم یک ناشر دیگه اقدام به ترجمه و چاپ این کتاب کنه که ما عاشقان فارسی زبان آدری هم بتونیم کیفیت مناسب و در خور آدری رو تجربه کنیم

شك ندارم كه آدرى هپبورن عزيز چقققدر دوست داشتنى و خوب بوده و يه سرى نقل قول ها درباره ش واقعا اين قضيه رو بيشتر نشون ميداد.
ولى آخه انقدرررر گل درشت و اغراقى و بد؟ انقدر بايد بت بسازيم از يه طرف؟
خب حسم اين بود كه نويسنده ميپرستيده آدرى هپبورن رو؛ ولى با خودش فكر نكرده اينطورى حرف زدن از يه آدم (مثل يه فن گرل ١٣ ساله) حتى ممكنه تأثير منفى داشته باشه؟
به طور كلى خوب نبود. ولى مثلاً عكسا خيلى خوب بود و با اينكه همشون رو هزار بار ديده بودم، ديدنشون رو كاغذ واقعا دلچسب و خوب بود 8->

بزرگترین پیروزیزندگی ام این بود که توانستم با خودم زندگی کنم، کمبودهای خودم و دیگران را بپذیرم. از آنچه دوست دارم باشم خیلی دورم، اما بلاخره به این نتیجه رسیده ام که آنقدرها هم بد نیستم.

A great collection of quotes, both by Audrey Hepburn and others who knew her. The pictures were so-so, but you can find great photos of Audrey elsewhere. I loved this quote in particular from the New York Times following Audrey's death:
"Nearly forty yeras later Audrey Hepburn's face was that of someone who'd squinted into the sun, laughed a few laughs, shed a few tears. The forehead showed some wrinkles, the eyes showed some more, and the strong jawline was softening around the edges.
As unwilling to fake youth as she had been to fake voluptuousness, she looked like the 63-year-old woman she was. Which is to say, better than any 63-year-old woman who's pretending that she isn't. Would that she were going to be around longer, to teach us all how to grow old."
Audrey Hepburn was not (and never wanted us to think she was) perfect, but I am inspired by her goodness, her decision to put her family first, and her desire to serve and help others. Oh, and I really love her style.
