She’s downright flabbergasted when he offers her a job as a fury of Hexing House, delivering punishment for a price.Once a red carpet darling, now a panic-stricken recluse, Thea is the last person qualified to become an agent of vengeance. But Thea’s cousin has vanished, apparently at the hands of the furies, and Thea has promised to do whatever it takes to find her. Even if that means becoming one of them to gain their trust. Now Thea has a month to grow wings, sprout claws, and rid herself of all weakness. And that’s the easy part. The transformation will be dangerous, but uncovering the conspiracy behind her cousin’s disappearance, and her own recruitment, may be deadly.
It's a rare treat to find an urban fantasy that's this original. While I love all the usual supernatural creatures you find in urban fantasy, it's great to come across a new one occasionally. In Rising Fury Rasmussen brings the winged furies of Greek legend into the modern world, complete with bespoke suits and a very corporate attitude to the business of revenge.
Thea's cousin has vanished, apparently at the hands of the furies, and Thea has promised her aunt she'll do anything she can to find her--even if that means becoming a fury herself. If Thea survives the transformation, she still has to uncover the conspiracy behind her cousin's disappearance, and office politics when you're a fury can be deadly. This novel is great fun, and I can't wait for the next instalment in the series.
DNF´ed at 15% so I'm not even going to rate it-not exactly fair-but I gotta say I wasn't impressed. The little I read was, for lack of a better word, disappointing. I didn't like the writing style. The world-building was none-existent (you get dropped literally in the middle of a scene and get no clues to help you) and the main character, Thea, simply couldn't make me care for her or her situation. Perhaps it would get better along the way, however, the story does not pull at me. I am not even a little bit curious about what happens. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it.

Jen Rasmussen's back with a new series. Following on her compelling "dark snack" series starring Lydia Trinkett, we are introduced to Thea, the battered lover of a A-list movie star, who's crawled home to lick her wounds. Instead, she finds herself sucked into a bizarre parallel world of hex-casting winged creatures. Not only that, she becomes a fury herself and an powerful avenger, righting wrongs while constantly questioning her own motivations. As well-written and action-packed as her Lydia Trinkett series.
Couldn't put it down! Fast paced, entertaining, keeps you wondering what happens next! I enjoyed reading this book so much! On my way to check out Lasting Fury to see what happens next with The a and the Hexing House.
